Iphoto Slideshow Won't Assign Music

Ive searched the forums and tried all the reponses, but nothing has worked. I created a slideshow in iphoto (with most up to date software update). When I click to assign music, it will allow itunes to come up. I pick my music (from itunes), click ok. When I go to view the slideshow, no music. My older slideshow's will play music and even assign new music. What am I doing wrong here?

Hi, I'm just playing with my slideshow music uploads also. I'm just wondering and it may seem odd to ask but do you need to check your sound preferences or volume button to hear the music. Not sure I've assisted, my issue is around how to attach various different songs from my itunes to my one slideshow. I can attach and play the music but cannot as yet work out how to add several. Many thanks if you can help with this question?

  • Iphoto slideshow won't play music

when I create a slideshow in iphoto, the music I selected will not play. The slideshow functions normally otherwise. Is this a problem with Mavericks?

What music are you selecting? From iTunes?
In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
    Then quit and restart iPhoto.

  • Since upgrading to OSx 10.9, I cannot place my music for iPhoto slideshows.  The only music that works is the Sample and Theme music that comes with iPhoto.  Any idea of what to do about this problem?

  • Iphoto slideshow tries to read music videos in itues...

iphoto slideshow tries to read music videos in itues... It appears that i have music videos in my itunes music library, and when I try to start building a slide show in iphoto. Iphoto first looks a the music libary and hangs up trying to play music videos.
Can anyone shed any light on this behavior of Slideshow

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Does this occur when you add music to the Slideshow? Or some other time?

  • IPhoto slideshow that uses registered music

I have created a slideshow on iPhoto, I was allowed to utilize the music i have stored in my iTunes library. When i went to export the slide show, I was told that I could export just the photos and the music that isn't registered to an actual artist. My question is:
Is there a way to export the iPhoto slideshow including the registered music?
    If so, how?
I imported the slideshow to iMovie instead, but can't seem to insert the music I had from the original slideshow. How do I do that in iMovie?

Is there a way to export the iPhoto slideshow including the registered music?
What kind of song are you using?
If your song has been bought from the iTunes Store and is in the older "Protected AAC audio file" format you cannot use the file to render a video or bounce a new song with GarageBand, because that would remove the protection.
Check the "kind" in iTunes in the "Info" panel for the song, in the "File" tab.
If you have backed up your songs to CD by burning a playlist to CD, try if the backed up CD versions of your songs can be used. Sometimes that works.

  • IPhoto slideshow won't repeat

I was quite pleased with myself for being able to pull together this great slideshow on iphoto.  However, even though I have the box checked for repeat, I can't get the slideshow to repeat.  I have music attached to go with the slide show and the songs stop as soon as the slide show completes.  In Settings, I have it so each slide plays for 5 seconds.  If I change it to "play slides as long as the music plays", each slide stops for a good 20 seconds (not what I want).
I count just over 100 slides.  Is this the problem?

    Is this the problem?
Probably.  Try adding an audio track(s) of approximately 8 minutes and see if it will repeat.
Then you can try shortening the audio track you've selected in iTune's Info/Options preference pane:
and see if that play you selected tracks and allow repeat at about 5 seconds per slide.

  • IPhoto Slideshow using iTunes purchased music publish to .Mac

I created a slideshow which used a song which I purchased through the music store. I exported this and uploaded it to .mac. If I view this web page on a another computer beside my mac it wants it to be authorized.
I thought when I purchase music I could use it in iPhoto and iMovie. Why is it forcing me to authorize all computers.
How am I suppose to share this slideshow/movie with my friends and family. I am all for DRM when it comes to protecting music but now I can not use the song except on my mac or computers I authorize (Which is limited to 5). I think this is a bit unfair.

    Hi Squig,
It's a shame isn't it. You need to do a little sneaky work around by first burning the tune to cd (while you are at it, burn a bunch of others that you might want to use in a slideshow. Import the burned cd back into iTunes. Click on date added column so you can see the DRM-less tunes you just imported. Rename those tunes so you know those are the ones without the DRM and then use those tunes in your slideshows.
by the way, you can use them in iMovie if you are then sending those iMovies to burn within iDVD. You will run into the problem if you export the iMovie to quicktime.

  • IPhoto Slideshow won't use my midi files

I have a Roland keyboard that will record to midi files. When I record a song and import it into iTunes, it will play fine. It I try to use it as background music in an iPhoto 09 slideshow, it shows up in the playlist, plays fine when 'tested', but when the slideshow is run, it is silent. I'm a new MAC user (a convert from PCs) and haven't run into any other significant problems until this one. Been working on it for about 3 days and am about to pull out my hair. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I'm not familiar with midi files but have you tried converting them to mp3s in iTunes and using them?

  • ITunes music for iPhoto Slideshow

Not able to use files from iTunes for iPhoto Slideshow.  Only SAMPLE MUSIC.  This is the message that I get > iTunes The song "The Sad Cafe" could not be used because the original file could not be located.

Have you checked, if the song plays correctly, when you try to play the song "The Sad Cafe" in iTunes? If you see an exclamation point besides the song, you need to reconnect that dead track to the original file. When you try to playy the song, iTunes should prompt you for the location of the song. Use the File Chooser window, that will pop up, to search for the file and select it.
Then try again to use the song in your slideshow.

  • Can't access itunes library when using iphoto slideshow

When using iphoto slideshow and click on music, iphoto shows my itunes library but not the list of songs. When I click on library it only plays the first song on my list. I can't change to other songs.
I have the latest software for itunes, iphoto and quick time. Can anyone help me.
    Thanks, Kathy

Doesn't play songs purchased on iTunes either,
probably because of the copyright infringement
    issues.
It does. You'll need the latest version of iTunes
and the latest version of Quicktime for this
    to work.

Gotcha! It's the QT holding me up them. I have QT Pro and I don't want to update because then I have to PAY again for the Pro part. I learned that the hard way. What a rip off on their part for the users of their Pro version.

  • IPhoto slideshow music won't work after updates

I installed the two latest updates from Apple (iTunes and Quicktime, I think) yesterday evening, and now when I try to Share an iPhoto slideshow as a QT movie, the music doesn't come through. I used Disk Utility to repair disk permissions, but that didn't help. I send slideshows to my friends all the time -- this problem occurred only after the latest updates were installed so I know that one (or both?) is the problem. I am really frustrated! Is there anything I can do other than wait for Apple to offer an update to their update?
iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Just installed latest updates from Apple

Are you able to open iPhoto's preferences easily? That and the music issue was a bug in an earlier version of iPhoto 7. Be sure you've updated to 7.1.3 and have applied the iLife Support 8.2 updater.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. • Apple TV Streaming iPhoto Slideshow/Streaming Music Playlist

For some reason my Apple TV lists Photo-Settings-Music>Off and I can't change it. I have a Music Playlist selected in iPhoto Slideshow settings on my iMac that I stream from but I'm getting no music when streaming photos to Apple TV. I thought the Apple TV listed my streaming playlists before but it seems to have oddly disapeared. I've rebooted both my iMac and Apple TV but no change. I've also disconnected from my iTunes libary and reconnected but it still hasn't corrected this problem. Am I missing a menu for this option somewhere on the Apple TV? Thank you for any assistance that you can provide.

Although you have only one library and stream only there are essentially 2 ways to look at setting this up.
You can set your library up as a shared (or secondary library) in which event it can only stream content.
Or you can set your library up as a primary library in which event it will have streaming and syncing capabilities, even though you don't actually select anything to sync.
Think of this as syncing turned off vs syncing turned on but with no items syncing. I do believe unless you set things up the latter way your music library won't be available to use in conjunction with slideshows.
This does of course mean that you would then need to sync your photos from your primary library. Primary libraries require that photos are synced. If you had any secondary libraries they would then be able to stream their photos and use the music from the primary library for slideshows.

  • Iphoto slideshow--adjusting music timing

    Hello all,
Here's my issue...I'd like to add music (from Itunes) to my Iphoto slideshow. I want to adjust the timing of the song played (i.e. in Itunes I can choose a start time and end time for each song by getting info). However, when I make these adjustments in my Itunes playlist, then select that playlist for use in the slideshow, it plays the songs with their standard timings.
Is there any way I can get Iphoto to recognize these timing changes or do I have to play each song in its entirety?

    Hi biiru 1000,
    Editing in iTunes:
Select Song. Get info>Options. Edit start stop times.
When edited, select song. Advanced menu_ convert selection to AAC ( of format you have set in preferences).
Arrange library window by "Date Added" -- It will be the newest thing but this new copy won't have a title etc. Rename.
this works for your imported music. I am not sure if it will work with purchased tracks from the ITMS as I have not tried it yet.

  • Will  an iPhoto slideshow with music work on all computers in China?

I am making a promotional DVD for an education program in the US, and taking it to China to education fairs. If it is an iPhoto slideshow with music, will it work on all Chinese computers? I assume so, because since it is not video, I should not have to worry about different formats-right? I've got enough to worry about on this trip!
    Prof. Fisher

On every single computer in China? Impossible to tell. But if you create a slideshow in iPhoto and send it to iDVD to be burned to a DVD then it will play on anything that plays DVD.
