Iphoto slideshows and powerpoint

I made a powerpoint presentation using multiple iphoto slideshows and some qtvr movies. the presentation works great out of powerpoint but when I save it as a movie file the iphoto slideshows are blank. Is there a specific way to save the iphoto slideshow before putting it into a powerpoint? I will also need it to be compatible with windows.
Also they won't play on windows based powerpoint.
Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Export the slideshows from iPhoto as QuickTime movies.
Does Windows Powerpoint support Quicktime?

  • IPhoto Slideshow and playlist synched but does not play together

Saw the previous posts about getting iPhoto slideshows to work where you need to sync the photo album and associated iTunes playlist.
Have done that but I am still just getting random music. It doesn't play the music associated with the slideshow playlist. I can play the playlist separately just fine. I just doesn't work with the slideshow.
    Any thoughts on troubleshooting this?

Yes, sure have. And I didn't see any errors (that little triangle thing with the exclamation point)
Even changed some content so I could check that the Sync happened.

  • IPhoto slideshows and Apple TV

Sorry - beginner with iMac - but keen to learn!
Having created a slideshow on iPhoto, I am keen to find a simple way to display it on my living room HDTV - as a quicker & more effective alternative to burning it onto a DVD first. At the same time, I want the best quality picture possible on my HDTV, as I'm using an 18 megapixel camera.
Will Apple TV deliver this for me - or is a media hard drive a better option? Alternatively is burning to DVD still the best way to show my efforts to family & friends on an HDTV?

You can export the slideshow as a movie and then import it into iTunes so you can home-share via apple tv.

  • Iphoto slideshows and itouch

I would like to transfer a photo album with an itunes song attached onto my itouch as a slideshow. I have a how-to book which claims it is possible (that's actually where i got the idea). Supposedly, I just attach a song to an album in iphoto then sync that album to my itouch, song and all.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work. In iphoto, I can play the album as a slideshow with the music, no problem there. The album syncs over to the itouch and I can view the photos as a slideshow. No problem there.
The problem is no music follows along with the slides. The song in question is an itunes purchase that is on both my imac and itouch already.
Am I missing a step somewhere? Or is there a different way to get slideshows onto the itouch, photos and all. I read some of the posts but being a total novice I could not really follow along with the explanations of how to convert files and such.
Just wondering if there is a simple way to handle the situation.
Thanks in advance for any help.
P.S. My first post here. Woot! Former windows user and loving the imac.

The issue has nothing to do with the music at all. This movie no contains the pics and the song as it's soundtrack.
You need to convert the movie to a format that the iPod can use. For information on that I think you're best to post on the iPod Touch forum:

  • IPhoto slideshow to quicktime and audio tracks fadeout, undesirable.

I made a quicktime movie out of an iPhoto slideshow and the audio tracks fade out. Can this be prevented?

You probably will need a 3rd party application to convert the . mov QT file that iPhoto creates into a format for the iPod. Some are VisualHub, ViddyUp, and iSquint. You can find them at VersionTracker.com.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to put Titles in iPhoto slideshows

I truly love the slideshows I create in iPhoto with music...
"BUT", I'd also like to add a brief comment before, during or after the slideshow, and I've found this impossible to do.
Is Apple waiting for the new upgrade to address this problem?...
I've gone into my wordprocessor "Appleworks, and text-edit", hoping I could then export/import the titles into iPhoto, but to no avail...
I enjoy creating slideshows with music, then burning them, then playing them on stereo sound television, and its a total blast for me when I view my creations.
So, Apple, or readers on this site, please help a poor old man towards the path of enlightenment, for life can truly be beautiful with "titles"...
    Thanks to all...

    Terence,
Don't know if you misunderstood my problem, but today, I found the solution to putting titles into iPhoto slideshows, and its pretty simple also.
I don't know how to enter a link here in order to include the directions on how to create titles in iPhoto..
But, briefly, create the title in any wordprocessor.
    Take a screen shot.
Drag it into an iPhoto icon
Then, drag the icon into the iPhoto library.

We have no idea what enhancements - if any - are
planned for iPhoto. What you want to do cannnot be
done with iPhoto unless you use a third part editor
to create images with the comments, and import the
images into iPhoto and then incorporate them into
your slideshow. There are other apps that can caption
and use comments. Check out PhotoToMovie from

  • Iphoto slideshow to idvd: quality & burning issues...

I've made a few slideshows in iphoto due to the Ken Burns effect and also the ability to choose full screen or widescreen. I made DVDs for friends with full and myself with wide for my widescreen- and that works fine.
My question is about the quality of the movies. Obviously a substantial loss of quality from viewing the show in iPhoto on my Powerbook...
Is there a better way to do this with better results? Using iMovie? (Never have used that app before..) Each show has 100-250 slides and I choose a music playlist from iTunes. I am a quality freak and looking the uncrisp images isn't too thrilling.
(Even when playing the disk image in the DVD Player on my Powerbook and comparing with the original project file- it's a little more fuzzy.)
Also, I just got an external Lacie burner (I have combo drive) and have much unsuccess with burning. I have repaired permissions and create as a disk image in iDVD. It plays back great from the disk image in DVD Player on Powerbook. This specific movie is 2.4 GB and I have 10.1 free dis space.
Problems: (tried with 2 or 3 different movies)
*Disk Utility will not burn the image. It begins and then stops and says there are errors (not specific)...
*iDVD goes through 4 or 5 steps and right at the end says "Errors during burning"
(I was also getting a multiplexing error, but I freed up some space and didn't get that last time)
*TOAST- Using the DVD-Video from Video-TS (as recommended on various boards) does not work. It finishes but won't verify and nothing plays...
*TOAST- using DVD-Video: The menu made in iDVD isn't functional. Can't choose different slideshows... Won't highlight, etc...
    *TOAST- using "Data" DVD-ROM (UDF):
THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT HAS WORKED AND PROJECTS ARE ABLE TO BE VERIFIED. MENUS ARE FUNCTIONAL IN MY 2 DVD PLAYERS...
I have the newest versions of Toast and iPhoto and iDVD. It's been very frustrating. Can't figure out why iDVD and Disk Utility won't burn... and TOAST only works using "Data" instead of Video... My Powerbook is a 60 GB 12" G4 1.33 model. I'm so tempted to upgrade to a bigger hard drive and a Superdrive but I don't know if that will help anything.
    Thanks for listening!

Video DVDs are 720X480 (NTSC). Much lower resolution than straight iPhoto slideshows and your original photos. Nothing you can do about this until either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray technology come to the market and are affordable.
iMovie will not be better resolution after it is sent to DVD. You could export to HD resolution QT files (H.264, etc.) and play those on computers with QT and keep higher resolution. But those won't play with commercial DVD players.
Disk Utility will not burn the image.
Can you verify the mounted image with Disk Utility?
Can you burn other data DVDs with the finder and with Toast succesfully?
You should be able to use both the Video_TS drag into DVD-Video for Toast and the direct image burn in Toast, as well as Disk Utility. I wonder if there is an error in the image, so see if you can verify the mounted image with DU.

  • Converting iPhoto slideshow to DVD

I have created a slideshow in iPhoto consisting of appproximatly 150 images. I have used the ability to set the display time for each image to coordinate the images with the audio. Playing the resulting slideshow in iPhoto is great. I want to convert this slideshow to a DVD. Using the "Send to iDVD" option, the slideshow is first converted to a QuickTime .mov file and then automatically imported to a iDVD project, which is a nice feature. The problem is that during the conversion to QuickTime, the images and audio become 'out of sync'. Specifically the images progress slightly faster in QuickTime than in iPhoto. The slideshow, for my purposes, becomes degraded because of this anomaly. I am using the latest versions of iPhoto and QuickTime as of this writing (07/29/06).
Is there a way to compensate for QuickTime changing the display times of the images? If not, are there third party software applications (Adobe?) that can take an iPhoto slideshow and convert to DVD without having to go through QuickTime?

  • How can i delete a photo in a iPhoto slideshow that is in the iCloud?

I have created an iPhoto slideshow and put in the photo stream and it is now on iCloud.  I want to delete a photo in the slideshow but I can see to be able to edit. I can't get the thumbnails in a the photo browser so that I can choose the photo to delete. What is it that i must do to accomplish this?  Thanks!

I created the slideshow and shared in the iCloud and made it public website.
Did you share the photos from your slideshow as a shared Photo Stream and publish this Photo Stream as a public website?
I can't get the thumbnails in a the photo browser so that I can choose the photo to delete.
Then delete the photo in the iCloud section of iPhoto's Source list from your shared photo stream.
Or did you publish a slideshow as a webpage in iPhoto on a mobile device (iPhone, iPad)? In that case, if you already upgraded the mobile device to iOS 8, there is no longer any way to access the webpage, since iPhoto iOS is incompatible with iOS 8.

  • Play MPG in iphoto slideshows

    -Im using iPhoto09
-I have movie files off my video camera, they were .mod files, i renamed them to .mpg so they work with quicktime.
-But for some reason they wont play in iphoto slideshows, and just show the first still frame of movie
how do i get these files to work automaticlly in slideshows??? free video codec package?

You’ll need to convert the file into a mov or something that iPhoto can work with first.
This can be done with MPEG Streamclip.

  • IPhoto slideshow, remove some photos

I've created an elaborate iPhoto slideshow that looks fantastic (custom settings for nearly every slide).
QUESTION:  I'd like to make a DIFFERENT slideshow by removing a few slides from my origonal 'fantastic' slideshow while keeping the origonal one intact.  I know I can edit and alter my current slideshow in iPhoto but that will change the current slideshow--which I want to remain intact so I can use it as my base, starting slideshow.  I'd rather copy the slideshow in iPhoto (with the photos along the top and able to adjust settings for each slide) maintaining the order and settings with the ability to remove several slides.
    Does that make sense?
I've searched duplicate iPhoto slideshow and all i find is ways to add duplicate photos to the slideshow.
Any tips? Thanks for your input!
    Chad

select the slideshow in the source pane on the left and duplicate it (command - D) so youy have two copoies of the show and can change each one independently

  • IPhoto Slideshow Question

Can I burn a dvd of an iPhoto slideshow and play it on a t.v.?  I am using iPhoto 9.6 on a late 2009 iMac.  I have created the slideshow and exported it with the iTunes option.

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • IPhoto slideshow duplicate undo

I prepared a great iphoto slideshow and wanted to make a copy from which I could delete some photos and change around the order a bit.
So I went to Photo "duplicate", and it duplicated the photos within the slideshow itself. No second slideshow folder appears anywhere.
The message at the bottom now says "1 of 1402 photos" instead of "1 of 701 photos". (I know, that's a lot of photos!)
I tried to "undo" but that's not highlighted. I tried to sort, but that's not highlighted.
The duplicated photos do not actually show in the slideshow, but they are now slightly out of order, and for some reason a few are missing.
What happened, and how do I fix it please.

    LadyBookLover ,
the problem with duplicating your photos is you have duplicated every pictures in your entire library. Hence doubling the size from 701 to 1402. This was not necessary to do. You will have to delete these duplicate, because not needed.
Are you sure you are with iPhoto 4? iP 5 and 6 do have a feature that create separate sub- folders (like albums) and those are separate slide show independent of the iPlibrary.
Anyway, The way to create a different slide show, with iPhoto 4 (which I suspect that you may not be with) is to create another album, (command + N) [or file>new album] and name that new album, and put all photos in there that you want to create your slide show. Only in the albums you are able to move /re-position photos. It is not possible within the Photolibrary.
The differentce with these photos, is that they are not "duplicated" but a mere alias or pointer to the original in the library. If you should try to delete/remove any photo from an album, it will not remove it/them from the library, but just from the album.
If you wanted to delete a picture from the iPlibrary, you would have to select the later (iPlibrary) , and delete the pic. It would end up in the iPhoto trash, and not untill you empty that trash, it would remain in the iPlibrary. Delete the pic from iplibrary (file>empty trash) and the pics in the trash will be gone forever!
    So to recap
1-create an album and put your desired pic in there
2-you cannot delete a photo from the library if you delete from an album. You only remove a pointer/alias.
3-to remove pic for good, select and press delete. the will be trasfered to the ip trash. Then delete the trash and they are gone to infinity and beyond!
    hope this helps!
    michel
