IPhoto slow when looking through photos
Hello!
So my issue is simple, and I hope this is something that can be easly fixed. I am reletivly new to Mac so sorry about the stupidity.
I have a Ivy Bridge based i5 at 1.8 GHz Macbook Air with 4GB 1600 MHz RAM.
My issue is when I try to look at photos, It can take almost a whole minute before it changes from one photo to the next, but going back it's fine like it was already buffered or something...
Thanks in advance,
Light
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Post back with the result.

IPhoto locks up while looking through photos. What do I do?
My iPhoto locks up while looking through photos. What do I do to fix this? iPhoto '09 8.1.2
Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then you current library is damaged.
In that case apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Centro restarts when navigating through photos
I purchased my Centro a couple of months ago. Recently, the Centro has been restarting when navigating through photos I've taken using the Centro's camera. It will also restart when I try to save a photo that has been sent to me via text message, or when I try to send a photo via text message. I have cleaned out my previous text messages and deleted the message backup file on my computer. I've also tried a soft reset and a system reset, but the same thing keeps happening. As an aside, my husband bought his centro at the same time and he is not experiencing these issues. Is there anything I can do, short of taking the phone back to Verizon?
Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Well, there are several things that can cause the device to reset.
One, corrupted data. If you have corrupted data on the device, when trying to access it, it can and most likely will, cause the device to reset.
Two, Low memory. If the device has low memory, the device will operate slow and most likely reset because it doesn't have a lot of free space. The free space remaining on the device is it's thinking room you could say. The smaller the thinking margin, the more likely it will not perfrom correctly. Best way to fix memory issues is to get an SD card and save all media files to the SD card.
Three, incompatible software. If there is incompatible 3rd party programs installed on the device this can cause several problems. Resets, missing data, and other functions not performing correctly.
The best thing I can recommend you do is a hard reset. A hard reset will erase all data on the device but restore all settings to default. Be sure to backup your data on a PC before performing a hard reset. For further information and instructions on how to do a hard reset go to kb.palm.com and look up article number 42094 in the solution ID search field.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions or issues.

Keep the zoom level the same when scrolling through photos
To decide which is the best photo that i’ve got, i usually compares the details by zooming and switching through photos back and forth, but keep the zoom level the same..
The problem is, in iPhoto 11 i can’t do this..
Because everytime i scroll to another photo, it always zoomed out by itself..
Does anybody know how to retain the zoom level when scrolling through images? How hare you zooming? When I double click on a photo to bring up its full sized image and use the keyboards arrow keys to scroll thu the size stays the same? Is that how you're doing it?
Have you tried using the Full Screen mode?

Motion 3 running slow when working with photos
Hi all i am new to posting question on this the forum so be nice.
i have being using motion 3 to create a wedding video intro . i previously create the background in motion and exported as a pro res file. the background has a camera dollying over a table and then zooms in to a photo album on the table . i then imported the background back intto motion as a new project, i am now trying to create the effect of photos falling down on to the open photo album. Motion was working fine until i got to the 12 photo. when i put in the next photo, motion start to slow down and is really slow to import the photos, playback is very slow as well. the photo in my project are jpeg and they size around 1.3 MB not massive fils.
My question is, dose motion have a limitation on on the amour of photos it can work with in a project.
My setup is:
2009 macbook pro
2.8 intel core Duo
8 Gb ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT Graphic card
Mac OX 10.6.8
Hope some one can help me on any tips on how to make my mac run more efficiently when
running motion 3.As TVBeaumont said, lots going on. Also, take a look at render quality settings and see what difference on playback lowering those settings has. Disabling effects that aren't critical can also help playback.
Good luck.

Imovie 09 insists on looking through photo library at start up
When I start imovie09 it wants to look through the photo library to find all the movies. imovie08 gave you a choice about whether you wanted it to do that - before it started doing it. Looking for movies there is of no value to me because I do not want to use them in projects. More importantly, the library is large and most of it is off line - so I get lots of "Connection failed" messages that I have to "OK" through.
So, my question is: Is there a way to start imovie 09 so that it does not insist on looking through the photo library?
ThanksIs there a way to start imovie 09 so that it does not insist on looking through the photo library?
AFAIK, no. -
why is it that when I look through the new apps in the apps store in release date mode it returns to the first page after veiwing more information about some apps, I could be ten to twenty pages in and have it happen.
Also, I only speak and read English and although there are probably great apps for people from other nations, I don't want to wade through all the apps that I can't make use of. I expect that people of other nationalities or languages don't want to have to wade through every app that they can't make use of, is there not a way that alI users could filter by language?
I mean no offence to anyone but with a collection of hundreds of thousands of apps in all languages and the jump back to the begining after possibly being into the list by a number of pages I stop looking after awhile and I'm sure I've missed some excellent apps by doing so.Contact iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/

How do i deal with multiple iPhoto libraries when migrating to Photos
how do i deal with multiple iPhoto libraries when migrating to Photos
I would merge them before the migration. Also, spend some time doing any batch changes of names and dates beforehand too.
iPhoto Library Manager has good merge and duplicate search facilities.

Since upgrading to ios8.0.2 I can`nt rotate my screen when looking at photos
since upgrading my 5s iphone to ios 8.0.2 I can`nt rotate my screen useing safari & looking at photos,is there a fix or upgrade planed
MMake sure screen rotation lock isn't on by swiping up from the bottom to open control panel, then look on the top right, there is a lock with an arrow circling it, make sure it's not highlighted. If it isn't try turning your phone off then on again. If that doesnt work try a hated restart by holding done the home and power buttons at the same time until you see the apple on the screen. If that doesn't work you could try restoring your phone or make an appointment with an Apple genius at the Apple Store, your accelerometer may be broken. Hope this helps.

Hi there! I have a photo looking down a stairwell, but there was something on the wall going down that now shows up behind but in between the actual stairs. Is there a way to remove that distraction? I've tried to do the content aware marquee job, but there are a lot of shades of wood, and the item is a kind of iron vine candelabra so it veers off into many directions. Will I just have to scrap this photo all together?
Thanks!

Iphoto crashed when I uploaded photos and now when I try to view them
I uploaded a rather large group of photos (~500) and iphoto crashed. They did finally upload on reboot. But now every time I open iPhoto to view the photos, the program crashes. Would very much appreciate some help! My initial thought is I am running out of room on my hard drive...

I've been on the phone with the iPhoto tech support people for half an hour, they have had me do a rebuild and a repair and niether has fixed the problem. I am mainly concerned about backing up the photos because I am a bad bad computer user and haven't done so yet. However, when I try to back up onto an external hard drive I am getting errors and the copy isn't going through. Very much appreciate any help you can provide. -
How does iPhoto sort when creating a photo book
My problem. When I create a photo book in iPhoto, it sorts in random. I have by date selected, and I need the pictures to flow based on the date.
Where am I missing it?You can not - they are soreted by date
-- the only solution I have seen is to put them in an album sorted the way you and and then use the batch cnage command to redate them with a small invrement between so a data sort matches your desired sort -- I personally do not want to redate a bunch of my photos nor do i want to have to go through and un-re- date a bunch

Howdy,
I recently switched from iPhoto 11 to Aperture 3. The only drawback so far is I am unable to view Project Titles when I am viewing all of my photos in the photo view. In iPhoto, I often would look at all of my photos in photo view while displaying the event titles. Is this possible in Aperture? Also, is there a simple way to view the file names underneath the photos in photo view instead of seeing the version name?Hi Greg. Welcome to Aperture and the Apple Aperture users forum.

You should set up all seven of the Metadata Overlays to meet your needs. (iPhoto is designed as a turn-key operation for those who prefer their meals prepared; Aperture is a kitchen for those who like to cook.)

Have you looked at Projects View (click "Projects" at the top of the Library tab of the Inspector)? You can group your Projects by Folder or by Year, and you can sort them in a number of ways. There is no information pane which shows up on Aperture as you scroll (as there is in iPhoto).
Projects View, imho, add tremendous functionality to Aperture. You can add descriptions to your Projects (and these are included in searches) via the Projects Information window ("{Shift}+i" with a Project selected.)

Mail and iPhoto crash when "sharing" a photo
Recently I started to have a problem on one of my Macs.....when in iPhoto, and I select a picture, and the click on Share to send that picture via an email, my Mail comes up but NOT with the usual new email window with photo in it, and then BOTH programs freeze up! I then force quit each program, and they work just fine after boot up....until I want to "share" a picture. I do not think it is a problem with iPhoto.....I created a whole new library with only 1 photo in it, and it does the same thing. This whole thing works fine on another Mac I have. I did recently purge thousands of old emails from my Mail....I wonder if something is screwed up in my Mail folder? I guess the next step is to somehow create a whole new Mail folder. Anyone else out there seen this or have any ideas?
thanks, Bruce....well, I just removed my Mail folder from the Library, and booted up Mail so that it created a whole new folder. Bingo.....that fixes the iPhoto share problem. NOW the problem is: HOW DO I GET ALL MY OLD EMAILS BACK INTO THE NEW MAIL FOLDER? I did try to simply drag over that folder to the new Mail folder, and the individual saved folders show up on my Mail screen, but with nothing in them! So....anyone out there know how to get all my old stuff back?
thanks, Bruce
