IPhoto Sort in iOS6 still incorrect!

Hi,
i updated my New iPad with iOS6 and also with the new version of iPhoto. I read, that you can sort the photos by date! And this is exactly what I wanted, because there was no possibility to sort with the old version of iPhoto and the photos were mixed.
I have 15000 photos, organized in years. But when looking the photos all where mixed. But also in the new version of iPhoto!!! I sorted like "newest" or "oldest" in the screen, but the order is still wrong. I think it is a little bit better, but still incorrect. Is there another possibility to sort the photos (by name, date...? I use no MAC but a Windows7.
Thanks a lot

Yes, still very annoying; same issue with my ios devices-still the mess with the sorting of my pictures!
I don't know why Apple isn't fixing this although certainly having got so many complaints abot that; hopefully one day one of the software-architects will take care of this!

  • IPhoto, sort by date is not a true date/time sort

In iPhoto, sort by date is not a true date/time sort.  If you have two cameras with there own naming convention iPhoto sorts filename by date separating the two cameras in the view. Is there a way to sort by DATE&TIME ONLY?

Using two cameras using iPhoto to upload pictures.
Both cameras are set to the correct time and date.
    Connect camera ONE filenames IMGP0101
    By default:
    No event name
    Split events checked
    Select import 12 photos
    Creates events:
    Untitled event December 27, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 28, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 29, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 30, 2013
    Connect camera TWO filenames IMG_1101
    By default:
    No event name
    Split events checked
    Select import 12 photos
    Creates events:
    Untitled event December 28, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 29, 2013
    In order by time
    Untitled event December 30, 2013
Now I have 2 events for each of December 28, 29 and 30 they are not all under the same event name. My only option is to click and drag the pictures from the second set of events to the first set of events then they are in order.  This is a real pain to do.  There needs to be a way to reset the event dates so all pictures from both cameras end up in the right event date.

  • Photos sync OK, but when edited in iPhoto, the original photos still appear.

Photos sync fine to iPhone. However, if I edit (crop) one of these photos in iPhoto, the unedited version still appears on the phone after resyncing. I have tried unchecking the box next to the photo album, then syncing and pulling it completely off the phone. Then I recheck the box and sync the photos back to the phone. The old, unedited versions of the photos still appear on the phone. What to do?? Thanks for your help!!

I am exporting as a JPG. I think I figured out the problem. In the old iPhoto I could export from the Edit menu. On this new version, I have click on the Photos button and go back to the screen that shows the whole event and export from there.
It's a pain and much less efficient but it seems to be working.

  • I have deleted photos from iPhoto trash but apparently still have 82GB of photos which I cannot see or delete - any help would be much appreciated

I have deleted photos from iPhoto trash but apparently still have 82GB of photos which I cannot see or delete - any help would be much appreciated

check the overall trash on the 'dock'.when files are deleted from programmes, they always go to the general 'Trash'  as general files and you will need to delete form there as well. if there is still a lot of missing files taking up space try reloading or deleting 'Iphoto' and uploading again.

  • I used to be able to send a photo from mail to my iPhoto.  Can I still do that?

With a message open, click on the "save":
and click on "add to iPhoto" - that should work.

  • Hate the way iphoto sorts photos on hard drive!!

well maybe its just me, but iTunes sorts flawlessly by tag info. they couldnt come up with a better system for iphoto?? it sorts by year or something from the looks of it. meaning if im on a winders comp and want to get onto the mac and steal and few pics, i cant cause iphoto sorts them so bad.
my computers are networked but i cant get pics off one without going to it and sending to the other cause of iphotos sort comings. can i change the way it sorts?

    Taylor:
By sorts do you mean how iPhoto stores the files it imports (iPhoto Library Description). It's by capture date for digital camera photos and creation date for scanned photos and others. iPhoto is not designed to access the files from outside iPhoto. Apple want the user to export from iPhoto to where you need it.
If you want an application that lets you control the folder system so you can find the files from the Finder you might look at iView MediaPro. It's that and more.

  • Iphoto library lost but still in screensaver??!!

Hello all. Not sure what kind of issue this is.. The other day I left the room for 45 min and when I returned my computer mysteriously defaulted back to settings it had by the previous owner.. My bookmarks were gone, screensaver, wallpaper, itunes, and iphoto library were wiped out!! However now when the new default screensaver kicks in (photo slideshow), it shows all the old photos I had before. My photo library is still empty, but there they are. I can't open the 2008 folder in the screensaver options list to access those old photos individually. Is there any way to access these? They are on my ipod as well, but I can't view them on the monitor for some reason when it's hooked up.. only on the ipod screen itself. This totally ***** and I have no idea what caused this to happen.

Thanks for responding. No, everything is the same. It was as though there was some sort of "restore settings" option of some kind that was initiated. I had to re-register for yahoo msgr. for example and had to click the option for opening iphoto every time I connected a digital camera, etc.. like I was using these apps for the first time and setting preferences. There was no power failure at the house or anything like that. I have all those old photos on my ipod too but I cant look at them on my monitor when I connect it and I don't know why. I wish i could just upload all my ipod content into my itunes again but it doesn't let you do that even though I'm the registered user. I can only sync with current photo library which i don't want since there is nothing in it after the "crash". AARGHH!!

  • HT4221 Iphoto sorting on ipad

"If you are not using iPhoto or Aperture on Mac OS X, and if your device is using the latest software, it sorts photos in ascending order by the Date Modified."  I am using OSX and photo's are still sorted by date modified - makes the product useless for showing photo's any solution.

Same thing here, very annoying. The sort order selected in iPhoto does not carry over, it always sorts by "Date Modified" on my iPhone and iPad.
This appears to be a bug in the current iPhoto version (9.4.2) since what Apple's support article says is not working:
"If you are using iPhoto or Aperture for Mac OS X, your photos automatically sort on your device in the same order in which they are sorted in iPhoto or Aperture. Changes made to the sorting of your pictures in your iPhoto or Aperture albums and events are reflected on the device after syncing."
This is just not happening. I submitted this bug/feedback here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
Would suggest you do the same in case you havent' yet.

  • Deleted videos from iphoto but they are still showing up in the finder?

I deleted all of my videos from iPhoto and moved them to an external hard drive because I wanted to free up some space on my MacBook Air.  The files are no longer visible in the iPhoto application, but for some reason, when I look at the storage space on my computer, it is still showing that I have 8GB of movies on my computer.  If I search in the Finder, it is showing that a lot of these videos that I deleted from iPhoto are still in a "Masters" folder in iPhoto.  I am confused, though, because if I open iPhoto, the videos are not in there.  I want these video files to be deleted for good - can I just go in to the "Masters" folder in the Finder and delete them there?  I've read not to delete anything from iPhoto in the Finder, though. So, getting very frustrated because I'm not sure why these files aren't fully deleted off my computer. Any suggestions?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Can you upload photos that iPhoto "deleted" but are still on camera?

I was in the middle of uploading to iPhoto from my Sony Cybershot DSC-W120 when the camera's battery died. iPhoto said there'd been an interruption, etc. When I went to re-try uploading the photos once the battery was charged, only some of the photos uploaded. Unfortunately I didn't realize this and so when iPhoto asked me if I wanted to delete the photos on the camera, I said yes.
I have looked on the camera and the photos are still there in the same place they always appear when I review them, although some of them have a circle w/ an X through it in the bottom right-hand corner of the image. iPhoto says there are no photos to upload.
I disconnected the camera, turned it off, quit iPhoto, started up the camera, reconnected it; iPhoto started up again, but still says there are no photos to upload. I did not use the camera to delete the images, I only clicked "delete photos" in iPhoto. I have noticed that only clicking "delete photos" in iPhoto means that the images remain in the camera, though perhaps in a different folder. It is only when I actually use the camera to delete the photos that they are truly gone.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how to get these images to upload to iPhoto? Thanks so much.

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
1 - try image capture (in your applications folder)
2 - mount the camera to the desktop and see if you can download the photos using the finder
3 - if that does not find them then use media recover - http://www.mediarecover.com/ - the trial version will tell you what it can recover before you purchase
4 - in the future it is recommended that you never have iPhoto (or any other computer program) delete your photos - always import your photos (using a card reader is better in many people's opinion) and properly disconnect your camera, test them in iPhoto and then use your camera to format the card hereby deleting the photos and reformatting the card

  • Deleted all photos in iPhoto, but library is still 30GB

    Hi,
I started using iPhoto when I first got my Macbook Pro in January. I have since purchased Aperture and I imported all my photos from iPhoto into Aperture. I just left the photos alone in iPhoto, but I decided that Aperture is doing it for me and wanted to delete all the photos in iPhoto. I did this, but my iPhoto library is still nearly 30GB in size!?! I deleted the trash and here are no photos visible in the iPhoto application, yet it's still 30GB in size. I don't understand. Can someone help?
What happens if I just delete the iPhoto library from my Pictures folder in the Finder? Would that work?
    Thank you,
    Scotty

Given that you tried to delete that amount of data from iphoto in one go it's very possible that the db was corrupted and it failed to clear out all the files.
What happens if I just delete the iPhoto library from my Pictures folder in the Finder? Would that work?
That's exactly the way to do it.

  • How does iPhoto sort when creating a photo book

My problem. When I create a photo book in iPhoto, it sorts in random. I have by date selected, and I need the pictures to flow based on the date.
    Where am I missing it?

You can not - they are soreted by date
--  the only solution I have seen is to put them in an album sorted the way you and and then use the batch cnage command to redate them with a small invrement between so a data sort matches your desired sort  --  I personally do not want to redate a bunch of my photos nor do i want  to have to go through and un-re- date a bunch

  • IPhoto - sort order mixed up!

I am on Yosemite and and all the latest updates.  The other day my Macbook Pro would not wake so i had to "hard" reboot.  I had iPhoto opened when this happened.  When i rebooted iPhoto had to repair/rebuild database.  NOW, the Order-By-Date is all mixed up.  Goes from 2008, 2004, 2009, 2005, 2012, 2006 and so on - any idea's on how to fix thins?  The dates are correct on the photo's, but they are all out of order.
    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
    Stev

Use the View ➙ Sort menu option in the view that you're using in iPhoto to change the type of sort and sort order to your liking:

  • IPhoto sort order doesn't affect my iPad photos app

I've fallowed the instructions as in other posts but my photos are still in a different order than in iPhoto. Anyone have any similiar problems?

When you say that you've followed instructions in other posts, have you tried deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over in the correct order ? The location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314
