IPhoto Stalls While Uploading Photos To Shared Photo Stream

Hi,
I'm running OSX Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.
I created a new Event in iPhoto and imported my photos.
I selected all images (71 off) and clicked Share -> iCloud.
I created a new shared Photo Stream and invited subscribers.
Photos began appearing in the Photo Stream, but only six photos appeared, not the full set of 71.
To try to fix the issue,
I left it overnight.
I restarted iPhoto.
I restarted iMac.
I either removed the photos from the Photo Stream or deleted the Photo Stream itself—can't remember which.
Depending on which action I took in the previous point, I either selected all the photos in the Event again and shared them to the same Photo Stream or I created another, new Photo Stream and shared all the photos to it.
Photos began appearing in the Photo Stream, but only 15 photos appeared, not the full set of 71.
Any idea how to get the remaining photos to upload to the shared Photo Stream.
Thanks,
Ken.

Hi,
Okay, I did some searching here on the forums and found this post by Old Toad.
I followed his instructions and it fixed my issue.
Old Toad recommended:
Disabling Photos in System Preferences -> iCloud
Disabling My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams in iPhoto's Preferences.
Reboot machine.
Re-enabling Photos in System Preferences -> iCloud
Re-enabling My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams in iPhoto's Preferences.
In addition, I did the following in iPhoto,
Deleted the 15 photos in the shared Photo Stream.
Selected all the photos in the Event and shared them to the existing shared Photo Stream, i.e. I didn't re-create a new Photo Stream at this stage.
All photos uploaded successfully to the stream in approximately 10-15 minutes.  Issue solved.
Hope this helps anyone with the same or a similar issue.
Regards,
Ken.

  • IPhoto closes while uploading photos

I use a MacBook OS X 2.26 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo. I recently purchased the latest version of IPhoto 11 Version 9.2.1. I'm unable to upload photos.  I've tried Image capture but that locks up all photos and I have to upload duplicates. What can I do?

Maybe but usually it is best to solve problems prior to upgrading. This is probably a data problem not a software issue and changing the software prior to fixing the data often makes correcting the data more difficult and will never resolve the problem

  • IPhoto Stalls while importing

Why would iPhoto stall while importing photos?
I recently used a Canon mount adapter on an old lens and took a few photos to test the lens on a Canon D30. I was capturing both RAW and JPG. The photos displayed as over exposed.
When I tried to sync (import) them into IPhoto, the program stalled on those photos. I was able to systemically import other photos (taken with other lenses) on the same card, but those RAW CR2 files from the older lens would not import properly.
Any reason why that might happen?

It's possible that the Exif data on those pics is incomplete or damaged because of the old lens. I suggest that as a possible reason because I've seen it happen with pics shot via Lensbaby glass. The incomplete Exif prevents the importation.
Not sure what you can do with the RAWs, but if you Open the jpegs with Preview and Save them, that might get them in.

  • Iphoto has stopped uploading photos and frozen. I have paid online for the book - what to do?

Hi there.. iphoto has stopped uploading photos and the programme has frozen on me. It assembled the book (step 1.), then did not complete the upload (step 2). Prior to these steps I provided my C/C detals and paid for the book.  i had to Force Quit the iPhoto app, and now wondering what to do!? If I try to buy the book again, then it asks for my C/C details...

Did you get a confirmation email from Apple?  Click on the Store button at the top of this page and use the Account ➙ Track a Purchase link.  That will tell you if they received your book.  Apple doesn't charge the card until it is shipped.  You can also check with your credit card company to see if there's been a charge from Apple.
Try previewing the book by Control-clicking in the background of the view all pages in iPhoto and select Preview Book or Save Book as PDF:
If that process fails then there's a work around for it.  Boot into  Safe Mode and preview the book again to make sure you can get a PDF of the book.  If you can then order the book while still in Safe Mode.  Save the PDF file to compare with the printed book. If the PDF file is satisfactory the printed book should match it.
What size book are you ordering?  Xtra large?

  • How do I get MacPro iPhoto events downloaded to my iPad mini? Uploading photo streams from mini to Mac works fine.

How do I get MacPro iPhoto events downloaded to my iPad mini? iCloud is set up. Uploading photo streams from mini to Mac works fine.

Set up the events as albums on your Mac Pro in iPhoto. Then use iTunes to sync your iPad.
Start iTunes on your Mac Pro. Connect your iPad and select it in the left sidebar. If you do not see a left sidebar use the View menu to View Sidebar.
Once you select your iPad look in the right window and find the Photos tab. Select the album or albums you want copied from iPhoto on your Mac Pro to your iPad. Then click on Apply.

  • IPhoto 9.4.2, photo stream-add subscriber?

    Hello
I cannot figure out how to create a list of subscribers to share my Photo Stream pics.
I succeeded in adding photos and have a Photo Stream icon in the Source panel, which shows my chosen photos, but not what? How do I notify someone or add a subscriber?
IPhoto 9.4.2, on Mac Pro with Lion.
Sys Prefs > iCloud, checked Photo Stream
In iPhoto prefs > turned on Photo Streaming.
Dragged some photos from an Event into Photo Streaming icon on left.
After a while, it finished (uploading? syncing?).
Clicked on Photo Streaming and I see the pictures.
Now trying to "Add a Subscriber."
Clicked on Share in lower right corner----pop up menu shows Photo Stream among other options (order prints, Flickr, Facebook, Email)
    Clicked on Photo Stream
Window opens saying "all the selected photos are already in your photo stream."
I know that but how do I choose people to share them with??
Went up to Share in iPhoto main menu and Photo Stream is greyed out.
I read whatever I could find, in Apple Help, iPhoto, elsewhere on the web.
Tried to find answers but either the instructions read as though I want to change subscribers, or provide step by step, where one of the steps just is not an option I see of can find.
Anyone, please, unravel this mystery for me? Thanks

    Thank you LarryHN.
While I do have an iPad Mini with v6.1.3, my MBP is only in Lion (and my Mac Pro in Snow Leopard). Oddly, until your post I could not find anything about Mt Lion being a requirement.
I followed the link you provided. More help but also more confusion.
There's this persistent presumption that key steps, detailed-specific steps, are or will be "understood." Like for example, letting someone know I have put a group of photos into Photo Stream, for their viewing. Adding subscribers keeps getting me info on modifying subscribers, not the step-by-step instructions for isolating a set of pictures, putting them into a so-called photo stream, or album, then making that available to them AND letting them know it. This morning I got as far as choosing some pics on my iPad and putting them into Photo Stream (or were they already there?) Then creating a PS or Album from a subset of those pics, giving it a name, choosing a person from my contacts....then what? I click Done. Then what is supposed to happen? Once again, this presumption of knowing or maybe it's a presumption that most people won't care to know how it is working and be done with it, after clicking done.
As a test I did this using one friend, and also using myself (using a email address other than my Apple address.)
I later opened my MBP, tried Mail to see if I got notified (nope) then opened iPhoto and looked to see if it was there. But I can't really tell. What I mean is, I do see pictures when I select Photo Stream, but there are more here than in the test-to-myself PS I set up and (sent?) from my iPad. Is this because the MBP is in Lion, not Mt. Lion? Or because, although I am the same person sending and receiving, I am using two differenrt email addresses (therefore am limited to PS only and not Shared PS?
I don't know. This is just way too murky and non-intuitive. I appreciate your reply but don't want to take up any more of your time. So I suppose I'm just whining and ranting at this point. Thanks anyway.

  • How do I create a slide show in iPhoto from an iCloud photo stream

ow do I create a slide show in iPhoto from an iCloud photo stream?

Do you mean from a Shared Stream or My Photo Stream?
In iPhoto on your iPhone, iPad you create slideshow projects by selecting photos and then sharing them as a new slideshow. http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnkbc26e276
You can publish your slideshow in iCloud:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2333
In iPhoto on your Mac you can make an instant slideshow by selecting the photos in the photo stream and pressing the slideshow button, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2333

  • How do i save photos in iphoto but not in photo stream

When I take photos with my iphone, it saves a random number to the photo stream.  For instance, if I take 5 photos, they all go to the photo stream on my iphone, but on my Mini, one might appear, or more, it is seemingly random.  I want to save them all to my hard drive on my Mac mini.  Deleting them from photo stream deletes them permanently, from everywhere.  Sometimes it saves the random number to an event in iphoto, sometimes not.  When it does this, deleting them from the photo stream may or may not delete them from the event.  Again, it appears random.  I want to save photos, and have access to them, without keeping everything in photo stream.  How do I do this?
The problem is that saving seems to be completely random.  I have vacation photos that I don't want to lose.

They should all be in the Photo Stream.  Sometimes it taks a while for the PS to refresh itself. In your iPhoto library set the Photo Stream preferences to
This will automatically import any photo added to the Photo Stream into your iPhoto Library.
If waiting for a while for the PS to refresh itse'f doesn't show all of the photos taken the try the following:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.
Rebooting your iPhone can also help.

  • How Come, after updating to ios 6 iPhoto no longer supports photo streaming What happened?

How Come, after updating to ios 6 iPhoto no longer supports photo streaming? What happened?

You probably just need to re-enable Photo Stream. It's not clear what the difference is, but there is an option to enable Photo Stream (as well as Shared Photo Stream) in both the iCloud Settings and the Photos & Camera Settings.

  • How do I get photos in a specific iPhoto Album into my Photo Stream?

How do I get photos in a specific iPhoto album into My Photo Stream so that I can use my Apple TV to show them in a slideshow on my TV?

That is not possible - PhotoStream has no organizational capability - no albums or other organization
With the correct software versions You can import from PS into an iPhoto event on your Mac either automatically (by setting the iPhoto preference to do that) or manually and then you can add the photos ot an iPhoto album and sync to Apple TV
what version of iPhoto do you have? Is OS X 10.7.5 correct for your OS?

  • Iphoto will not enable photo stream

My iPhoto will not enable Photo Stream.  All software is up to date and I have the latest version of iPhoto, in fact Photo Stream was working last week on my Mac.  Now all I get is the msg "iPhoto cannot enable Photo Stream".  Any thoughts ??

Hey dave2468, as you can tell by my original post, this problem surfaced several months ago and out of frustration for lack of an answer to the problem - I called Apple for support.  I was fully prepared to spend the $50 bucks to resolve this issue but fortunately didn't have to.  My problem did get resolved after about 1 &1/2 hours on the phone and the solution revolved around resetting my password for my account...can't tell you why other than ghost in the machine issue.  Yours may be different issue but wanted to let you know how this ultimately got resolved.  I have had no further issues relative to this problem since my phone consultation.  Best of luck - I know how frustrating these things can be. • IPhoto (most recent) just crashed while uploading photos.  It tried to fix itself and in the process erased every single photo.  Is there any way to retrieve them?

While uploading my family Christmas photos, my computer went completely blank.  When it started back up again, I had a message that iPhoto had been damaged and needed to be corrected.  So I let it restore and it took several minutes.  Then I had a message that it could not find any photos or data and it restart the computer.  If that didn't work it said to push "option and command" buttons while starting iPhoto.  Nothing worked.
It appears as though I have lost thousands and thousands of pictures including all vacations, last moment s with my father, kids entire childhoods.  The photos are invaluable.  I understand that they are on the hard drive.  I have had to restore everything from the hard drive once when my laptop was stolen and I lost about a third of the photos because they came back damaged.  I hope this is not the only solution to the problem.
Does anyone know how to restore iPhoto or retieve my photos? What happened?  I am guessing iPhoto is not a reliable place to keep my pictures anymore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a back up?
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto crashed while importing photos

While importing photos, iPhoto crashed. Now the pictures are damaged. Is there a possibility to regain them or salvage them?

I recovered the pictures in "Today" but they are damaged. You see the pictures in iPhoto but they are very small and there is no information about the picture availabe (shuttertime, diafragma etc).
Those are not your photos, only the thumbnails used for display.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
