Iphoto standard music like endless summer using in imovie

hi All,
I like the sample sound track which comes with iphoto .. "endless summer" and wanted to know if i want to use it for the background in imovie how could i do that ? .. i am not able to find this file and other's which come standard with iphoto any where on my computer.
thanks in advance.

The files are inside the application package.
So, right click on the iPhoto.app package in the Applications Folder.
From the resulting menu select ‘Show Package Contents’
A Finder Window will open at the Contents Folder.
Inside the Contents Folder you’ll find the Resources folder. Inside that you’ll find the Music Folder and there are the tracks.
Copy them and move the copies to the desktop. Then add them to iTunes or whatever.
Warning: Moving, changing, renaming or otherwise altering anything inside the iPhoto.app can render the application useless.

  • I would like to create a slide show and then burn to a DVD.  I may be interested in adding music.  Should I use iPhone, iMovie or a simple Powerpoint?

I am going to be creating a slide show and then burning it to a couple of DVDs.  I have used PPT in the past for simple slide shows for speaking engagements, but I am interested in adding music to this slide show.  What is the best/easiest application to use?  iMovie, iPhoto or Powerpoint?
    Thanks!

burning it to a couple of DVDs
Is it your intention to create video DVDS that can be played on TV sets via DVD players?  If so you'll need a video DVD authoring application like iDVD.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Best file format for iMovie when transferring standard 8 to DVD for use under iMovie.

I have some old Standard 8 cine film which I want transfered to DVD or CD so I can edit under iMovie.
What file format should I ask for i.e. .avi etc,
Should I get them onto DVD or CD.
Does anyone know a reliable transfer companies ?
    I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 and iMovie 09 8.0.6 (821)
    Many thanks for any help.

If you have 8MM film, I have found a company called Mymovietransfer.com or Debenham media that will convert the 8MM to 1080P in the format you specify. I chose Motion JPEG, and it worked great in iMovie. If you have Final Cut Pro, you can choose ProRes or Uncompressed instead.
When you get your film converted to DVD, it will be standard definition and lose some quality. If you prefer to go standard definition you are better off finding someone who will convert it to DV codec rather than a DVD, which is highly compressed MPEG2.
So my suggestion would ne to find a company that can convert it in the highest quality possible. You can then edit it in iMovie and share to YouTube, DVD, etc.
Here is a sample video of mine in 1080P from 8MM converted by Mymovietransfer.

I have no affiliation with this company except as a satisfied customer.

  • IPhoto 9.6 Slideshows - Can't Use iTunes music

    Hardware
    iMac 27-inch, Late 2012
    OS
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    Applications
    iPhoto 9.6
    iTunes 12.0.1.26
Issue: when changing the settings to 'Fit slideshow to music' this message comes up:
error message: the music you have selected is too short for the number of photos in your slideshow
When I change the music setting to a playlist in iTunes, it doesn't work and reverts back to the default sample music.
I tried changing the music formats to mp3: didn't work.
Attempted the organize library fix in iTunes BUT, that option is greyed out.
There has to be more people with this issue out there.
I didn't have this problem before all the updates.
The only option I have at the moment is to export the slideshow with no music and then use a video editing program to sync music with it.
Which isn't a big deal but using iPhoto to create the whole thing USED TO WORK...
Shoddy software engineering IMHO...Come on Apple! You're better than this.

You can't use or convert standard iTunes 128 kbps copy protected songs for playing in other programs. The only thing you can do with standard songs apart from playing them in iTunes or on an iPod/iPhone is burn them to Audio CD. You can use that CD just like any regular one. The iTunes Store songs are now all iTunes Plus which are no longer copy protected and can be played outside of iTunes.

  • Is there a way to edit music from itunes to use in an iphoto slideshow

I would like to use a section of a song for a slideshow I am making, but only want to use part of the song. Is there a way to edit the song? If so, how do I do this?

    Christine:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Not with iTunes or iPhoto. You can edit a track in iTunes to play only a selected portion but that editing does not carry over to use in iPhoto.
You can use a 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus Pro to select the portion of the track you want to use and create a new file with it. Import the new file into iTunes and use in iPhoto. Some users have suggested using Garageband if you've installed it. It takes up too much disk space for me and I prefer using Amadeus Pro.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto's music- legal question

    Hi Guys,
Just wondering If I can use iPhoto's music in professional Slideshows for Clients- obviously when using iPhoto to put together the slideshows : )?
The reason I ask is there isn't alot of royalty free music our 'there' that sounds decent.
Could you please advise me if I can use the default iPhoto music in slide shows for clients?
BTW, I convert Slides to Digital Images- then clients have the option to get them onto a slide show.
    Cheers,
    Ashley

Sorry, I am not used to these Apple Discussions etc.

Now, i dont know how to remove it..
    Sorry bout that,
Looks like I solved my own problem... lol
And... I can create slideshows for commercial(clients) use right?- just without music yeah?
    Cheers again!

  • This is my first time using iphoto, I am trying to make a slide show that I can then burn to a dvd. The slide show is complete, but I'm not sure where to go now. Can I burn the slide show from iphoto or do I have to export to imovie or idvd?

I have completed the slide show i am making, but not sure what to do now. I want to burn it to a dvd, but not sure if i can do that from iphoto or do i need to export to imovie or idvd? If i need to export, will iphoto save a copy in iphoto? This may be really stupid, but I don't see an obvious way to save my slide show in iphoto. Please Help!

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.

  • I have a large music collection in My Music which is where my Itunes music is.  I use Itunes match now and possibly it is what is causing my problems but can't be sure.  I keep getting a new My Music folder when I go into itunes so I have 2. what can I do

Hi.  I have a very large my music folder on my C drive.  This is were all of my music is including itunes.  However, when I go into itunes, it sets up a new my music folder. If I erase the new folder, it comes back the next time I go into itunes.  It is just a very small folder vs. the large 132 GB file named My Music.  What is this new one and why does it keep getting generated vs. Itunes just using the large My Music folder that has all my music.  The small My Music it creates is 134 MB.  Does this have something to do with using Icloud and Itunes Match?  I find it confusing to have two my music folders.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor.  The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow.  It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them.  You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version).  Personal preferences showing here.

  • IPhoto 11: A new way to use the old E-Mail behaviour.

iPhoto 11 works with email in a new way. Rather than using an Application to send the email as before, what they have done is handle the email within iPhoto. So, you input your Email Account details - the name of your service, the account name, password, etc, and iPhoto uses that information to send the email via your account.
There's an element of swings and roundabouts in this.
Users of Apps like Thunderbird or Postbox could not email from within iPhoto in the past as those apps are not scriptable. Neither could it be used by people who use Web Mail and access their mail via a web browser. By going this way these people users have the same service as Mail/Entourage/Eudora users have.
So much for the swings: on the roundabouts, however, users of Mail (and I suspect Entourage and Eudora) have a change. Share -> Email does not work as before and you can no longer select pics within iPhoto, resize them and pass them over to their preferred application. Neither can you send photos without a Template.
However, by creating a Service sing Automator, it's perfectly possible to recreate the previous usage, though accessed a little differently. Here's one way:
    1. Launch Automator
    2. From the Dropdown sheet select to make a Service
    3. On the Right hand side, over the large pane (under the record button) select 'Service Receives +no input+'
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    3. From the Library Column (extreme left) click on Photos.
    4. From the Middle Column drag 'Get Selected iPhoto Items to the large pane.
    5. In the drop down on 'Get Selected Photo Items, select 'Photos'
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    6. Back to the Library column, extreme left and this time click on Mail
    7. Drag 'New Mail Message' to the right hand pane, under the existing 'Get iPhoto Items'
    8. Drag 'Add Attachments to Front Message' under that.
    9. Save it, Name it.
Now, in iPhoto select the photos you want to email
    then
iPhoto Menu -> Services -> And select the Service you created.
The Mail app comes forward with your Message, with files attached.
You can resize the Photos using the option at lower right of the Mail window:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
Using the Keyboard Shortcuts in System Preferences you can choose a shortcut to do the whole thing from the keyboard.
    Regards
    TD

You can also drag from iPhoto '11 to Entourage 2008 and Outlook 2011.
Both of these will create a new email adding the photos as full size attachments
Good tip and I just tried it. Too bad Entourage does not have the size box in the
lower right like Apple's Mail. I really don't like sending full size pictures in email
messages so I will use Terence Devlin's Automator script or drag and drop to the
    the Mail Dock Icon.
Two very good workarounds for the slow iPhoto mailer. I got spoiled using the
IPhoto 09 email interface with Entourage that let me select the size and the x-number
    of Great IPhotos
Thanks again for another tip on how to mail photos using iPhoto 11.

  • How can I play music from the icloud using apple tv (2) controled by remote app  on iphone so the TV is switched off but stereo on

I was blown away when I started using the new remote app with Apple tv to play music from my iMac on my best music speakers in the living room!!!  However there are still 2 things required to make things ultra simple:
1 Not to have my iMac switched on to have to stream music to the Apple tv (I've now started using iTunes Match which has almost fixed this one)
2 Not have to have my TV switched on to control my amplifier through the apple tv.  (I can do this using the remote app on the iphone but only for music streaming from my iMac it wont work for music I have in iCloud, apart from music now playing.  I can't search/browse any other music)
If this is fixed it will be absolutely awesome!!! As my apple tv will replace all the HIFI separates apart form my amplifier and I can control what music my amp plays using the best user interface in the world my iphone/ipad
    Dylan

Hi, I don't have this bug. I can play music through my apple tv with the TV switched off and use the apple remote app to control the apple tv.
    My problem involves:
icloud music ----> broadband router ----> apple tv ---->music amplifier.  Using the remote app on the iphone to control whats playing.  This almost works but in the remote app you can only see the currently playing song, you can't search/browse your music in the icloud (itunes match).
    What does work is:
iMac-itunes music ----> apple tv ---->music amplifier controlled by the remote app in the iphone with teh tv off.  I can view my itunes library with the tv off using the iphone remote app. I would like to do this but using my music in iCloud. That would be awesome!!!

Many thanks JEM24 for your help.  Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone  the actual cost of each additional  gigabyte of storage  to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Many thanks again though for helping me.

    Yes.
You can authorize up to 5 computers to play itunes music ( pre-itunes plus).  There is no limit on itunes plus ( all itunes music for the past several years) and imported music.
You can sync as many ipods/ipads/iphones as you like to each of your computers.

  • Backup photos from iPhoto to external hard drive for use by PC

    Hi,
I use Time Machine for a general backup of my Mac.  When I transferred my photos from my old PC, they seem to be in a separate folder and not incorporated into iPhoto (though perhaps if I opened them in the iPhoto app, then they automatically transfer; I've not tried that yet). But when I upload new photos (either from my iPhone or a camera) to the Mac, they seem to automatically go into iPhoto and then are incorporated into the iPhoto library (I think).  But the thing is that I would also like to back up ONLY photos (and I have thousands, so can't do it individually) but in a format that I can share with a PC.  I'm guessing if I backup the iPhoto library, that file could not be uploaded onto a PC? I apologize if this is a simple question for more experienced users. Thanks so much!  (Please keep your answers basic, as I'm not as familiar with technical terminology as some of you are.)

    No
    iPhoto has NO crossplatform capability
It is a database photo manager - you import photos to it and use it to manage and view those photos
If you want access to those photos on another platform then you export from iphoto to disk and share those exported photos  --
The iphoto library can not be on a drive formate dot be read by a PC
And if it could the PC would not have any idea what is there
If yu have a current version of iphoto you can export using the subfolder format option of export to create folders matching the event names - Exporting From iPhoto
and I understand you are not familiar with the technical terms - but since that is al we have t communicate with they are critical and unless used correctly we can not communicate - in iPhoto Folders are part of organization and do not hold photos - in iPhoto folders hold either other folders or albums - albums hold photos but they are not a "place" - they are logical links to photos in the library - as are events and photos and special albums such as last "n" months, last import, etc
And note that use of iPhoto is not required - yu can use Image capture to bring photos to disk and the finder or any other application to manage them - if you use iphoto then you MUST learn and understand how it works
