Iphoto starts up when it shouldnt - how to disable?

Hi I am working as a photographer and I have a problem with iphoto when shooting digitally.
I'm shooting on Compact Flash crads. Whenever one is getting full during a shoot we are beaming the pictures from the CF Card via a CF Card reader onto my Powerbook. We just want to move the pictures quickley onto the desktop to save them. Now we always have the problem that iphoto opens up as soon as we insert the Cf card and wants to import the pictures, which takes valuable time and is really crucial when you are shooting with people. It's a real obstacle whiel working. This happens with both Powerbooks we have and although I disabled it when iphoto was asking about this option on it`s first start up.
The only solution I can think of is throwing iphoto in the trash - I wouldn`t like to do that though - maybe I could hide it somewhere on the computer?

I loaded tiger and ilife on my powerbook g4 but when i open iphotos it comes up "caution. The iphoto library is locked, on a locked disc, or you do not have permission to make changes to it"
I moved everything from iphoto folder to pictures folder to see if it would help having an empty iphoto folder but the message still comes up and when i click ok it immediatly shuts iphotos?

Right-click on the iPhoto icon in the dock, and deselect "Open at Login".

Make a temporary, backup copy if you don't have a backup copy of the library (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4
Launch iPhoto and try again.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

IPhoto Starts up when External Drive is Hooked up

Just as it says on the subject header...........the iphoto program starts up as soon as i have my external drive hooked up. How do i get rid of it? It gets annoying....

Yep, it still launces iPhoto......even if there's no camera connected to it. I even tried to change the "capture" setting too but it still does the same thing. Any idea or clue?
Oh yea, my external HD is formatted to be FAT32 as well. When i plug that into a PC, it doesn't start any other program.
Perhaps i should update iPhoto? Thing is, i don't even use iPhoto.

Why does iPhoto start up when iPod touch is connected to iMac to charge?

When I connect my new iPod Touch to my iMac to charge, iPhoto pops up.
Can I turn this off somewhere? I tried finding something in the iPhoto preferences but couldn't find anything.

iPhoto opens because your have some screen shots or saved images in your "Saved Photos" library.
You can import them into iPhoto and then let iPhoto delete them from your iPod, then you can sync them back to your Photo library. You can also tap the photo on your iPod and then tap the trash can at the bottom right to delete them. If there are no "Saved Photos", iPhoto won't open.
To turn off iPhoto opening, go to iPhoto preferences -> General and select Connecting Camera opens "No Application" at the bottom of the preferences window.

JTable starts editing when F3 is pressed - howto disable?

I would like to add some shortcuts to my application (F3, F4, F5, ...), however when the JTable has focus and JTable's cursor is on a editable cell, it starts the editing process.
Is there a way to tell the JTable to "ignore" some keys?

It behaves differently because it tries to pass key strokes to the editor and overrides processKeyBinding to that end. Try:

You need the Restrictions pass code. You can restore the iPod to factory settings using iTunes. This will remove all data on the iPod including the Restrictions. You can then create a new Restrictions Pass Code and turn Safari off. You will be able to redownload purchased apps and music for free, but all your data, etc. will be lost.

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account. On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account. If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to. It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?

IPhoto Starts when connecting iPad; not iTunes

Hi Folks,
I've checked the settings in iTunes under "Summary/Options" in iTunes and the option is checked to start iTunes when the iPad is connected.
However, when ever I connect my iPad to my iMac, iPhoto starts automagically instead.... I have manually start iTunes and even then it takes several seconds for iTunes to recognise that I've connected the iPad.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

iPhoto opening automatically was annoying me, too, but I found a solution in this iPad discussion group. I don't know how to insert a link, but here is the address, the answer being the last posting.

The solution has something to do with "ImageCapture", so you could search in this discussion group for that if the address above doesn't work. Or, search "iPhoto", and the answer is in a posting from November 17, 2010.

Iphoto starts when Iphone put in base.

When I place my Iphone in it s base, Iphoto will start up and want ti import all the photos on the Iphone. I have already imported photos before but it keeps doing it. I have made sure that Sync photos from Iphoto in Itunes is unchecked. How to do I stop Iphoto from opening every time I put the phone in it's base?

On your computer:
Applications>image capture
Open image capture. Under preferences (general), in the section Camera, select when a camera is connected, open "NO APPLICATION"

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that Messages is closed when you turn off your MacBook. This is so important because, by default, OS X will reopen all opened apps the next time you start your Mac.
Apart from that, when you go to  > Shut Down, or  > Restart, in the window you see to restart or turn off your MacBook, unmark "Reopen windows when logging back in". This will avoid that your Mac opens all opened apps the next time you start the MacBook, so Messages won't start automatically at startup

Any application that is open when you shut down will re-open when you restart unless you deselect this when shutting down/restarting:
Also check System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login items tab and make sure there's nothing listed there that you don't want launched.

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?
