IPhoto stopped working!!!

I had computer crash, all it adffected was outlok, so after rebuilding the database all y applications went back to normal, except iPhoto.
I can not launch, I see the icon on the lefet, but I can not open the library. Even if I go to fiole and select the Photo Library Default, sill it would not open unless I open Apaerture Library and from there select open another library whcih is PhotoLibrary, so I am able to open it,until I quit. I also can not create a new Library. When I create and name it, it will not show.
If I create a new user... no problem.
I spoke to 1st and 2nd level Appkle support, there was not much help there.
I would appreciate if someone has an answer, thanks.

so after rebuilding the database all y applications went back to normal, except iPhoto.
What exactly did you do after the crash - I am not sure, which database you rebuild and how? Did you use iPhoto's Library First Aid panel on your current database?  Or did you rebuild using Aperture?
Or, did you reinstall your system after the crash and now have earlier versions of your programs installed, that need to be upgraded to the newest versions to be able to open your iPhoto library again?
Try to run software update, to update iPhoto again to the latest version.
Also, it would really help to know the versions of the programs you are using. Is your profile signature still current? MacOS X 10.7.2? What are your iPhoto versions and Aperture versions?
From the symptoms you are describing, it looks like the iPhoto version you are having installed, is older than the version of your iPhoto library. Try to run software update, to update iPhoto again to the latest version.

  • IPhoto stopped working after upgrading to 9.3

I upgraded to iPhoto 9.3 and iPhoto stopped working.  So I dragged it to the trash and went to reinstall from the original iLife'11. The reinstall finished normally, but when I tried to open iPhoto it instructed me to run Software Update.  I did and Software Update informed me all of my software was up tp date.  Again I tried to start iPhoto with the same result - run Software Update. Anyone have a suggestion?

download and install the 9.1 update

iphoto stopped working when trying to export pictures to facebook - iphoto page and export flip down froze open -  cannot do anything with them - any idea what's wrong or what I can do to fix this?

Force Quit iPhoto (Use Force Quit under the Apple Symbol in the upper left of this page). If you continue to have problems please re-post in the iPhoto's forum, it's located at:

  • Upgraded to OS X 10.9 and Slideshow in iPhoto stopped working (stays on first slide; will not advance)

Upgraded to OS X 10.9 and Slideshow in iPhoto stopped working (stays on first slide; will not advance)

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database followed by Option #1 to reapair permissions if #4 doesn't help.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If still not working log into another user account on your Mac and try a slideshow from there.  If it works there then the problem is limited to your account. If it fails there it's system wide and may require a reinstall of iPhoto or the system.

after i update the 10.10.2 OS X Yosemite my iPhoto stops working. In the warning that appears when I try to open the app says that happened a mistake because of this update. I reinstalled the app but doesn't work anyway. Please, HELP!

I already tried that but it doesn't work. Appears a warning saying: "See the developer to make sure that iPhoto works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install all available updates in the application and OS X."

  • Iphoto stopped working. I reinstalled and updated. I still can't open it.

iphoto stopped working. I couldn't open it. I checked that photos were backed up. Trashed iphoto. Installed iphoto 11 and installed update. I still can't open it. I get no error messages. The wheel just keeps spinning.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • HT4906 all that happened was that iPhoto stopped working on my mac.

please help me iphoto stopped working on my mac and if i get it from the app store its £10

So the application is present in the Applications folder  In that case you will have to reinstall iPhoto.
To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally and apply all available updaters.

  • My iphoto stop working

My iphoto stop working. And it gave me this meesenger Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup. I already shut down and restart the computer and still the same.

    And the rest?

  • Why my iphoto stop working kept downloading nothing happening

why my iphoto stop working kept downloading nothing happening

    Because it's broken?
Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Iphoto stops working with mavricks

Iphoto has stopped working since i downloaded mavericks can anyone suggest a solution.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Do you remember which iPhoto version you had? iPhoto 9.2.3 and older don't work in OS X Mavericks. If you don't remember it, open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar, press the Control key and click iPhoto, and choose "Get Info". Then, tell me what you see next to "Version".
If it's 8.x.x or older, open the Mac App Store and purchase iPhoto. If it's 9.x.x, open the Mac App Store, go to Updates tab and download iPhoto 9.5 free of charge

  • Photo's from iPhoto stopped working in iMovie

I have a one year old iMac 27" machine running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.   Also using iMovie 11
I have been producing 8 minute long football highlight video's for the past year.  About 30 of them so far.  During the season (now) it's one a week.  I've got three different video cameras and two photographers going on this with me.  So everything is fine until this year, when dragging photo's into my iMovie project, some random photo's won't work.  When the curser goes over the photo all I get is black or blank.  Or sometimes a distorted still of a video or photo of a nearby clip, although as i move the cursor the photo eventually becomes black.
I've tried re-booting, unplugging and that does not work.  I have edited the photo in iMovie again and that worked once.  But something seems to be holding up iMovie from reading the photo.  One time I re-imported all the photo's and then I could place them in iMovie.  I thought then that it had something to do with the import into iPhoto.  But then it happend on a photo I've had for over a year and use in each weeks video and it showed up blank.
I've read a lot of the discussions on this page and maybe it has something to do with the audio issues people are having?  one thing I did differently this year is that I have been using a trailer intro.  The pyramid one.  Along with the sound. I use it at the beginning of each weeks video.  Do you think that is effecting anything?  I'm going to try building the video without the pyramid this week and see what happens.
This is a frustrating issue as I cannot get the photo's I need in the project at times.  Just takes so much longer to get this done...  Looking for solution.
Oh yeah, all my video is on an external drive.  iPhoto is on internal drive with over 6,000 photos.  wonder if my internal drive is developing an issue?
Looking for answers.  Would appreciate any help at all!
    Jim

I had this issue with a series of photos originally imported and rotated under iPhoto 4. But somewhere along the way, the originals must have gotten deleted, as the "Revert to Original" command was greyed out and not a viable solution for me. However, I found that AppleTV would display the photo correctly if I just made any type of edit to the photo - say red-eye, or crop, or adjust exposure/saturation, or anything. Once saved as edited in iPhoto 8, AppleTV had no problem.
Hope this helps from some of you.

  • IPhoto stopped working while importing photos from iPhone

I am new to Mac OX and I just tried to load all my pictures in the iPhone to the Macbook Air by iPhoto.
There were some 4000 pictures in my iPhone.  During the import and while the blue bar go half way, the picture stopped skipping and the import seemed to stop itself.
I clicked "Stop Import" and then clicked "Keep Photos" in the prompt.  However, nothing happened.  The iPhoto just don't let me quit and prompted "Photos are being imported to the photo library.  Please wait for import to complete".
what should I do?  I just want to back up my photos.

apple menu ==> force quit - restart your Mac and the phone and try again
