IPhoto store - which version do I need?

I have an old version of iPhoto and when I try to order a book or prints I get a message saying my version is no longer supported. Which versions are supported? Do I need to upgrade all the way to iPhoto 11? My G5 PowerMac is running Leopard.

Just a heads up: you may find that the theme you used for your book no longer is available in the newer versions of iPhoto and you will have to choose a new theme.

  • If java6update29 is incompatable with the current firefox, which version do I need and how do I get it?

I have the current version of firefox. When I checked my plug-ins on firefox it said Java was outdated. So I updated it and now firefox has disabled it because it is not compatible. So do I now have to take off this version Of java? which version do I need and where do I get it?

Firefox automatically disables only Java Console; see info below on Java Console
    See the following article

    '''<u>Java Console</u>'''<br />
Unless you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages, you do not need Java Console. Java update will install a new Java Console with each update. Removing the Java Console extensions has no effect on the functioning of Java for web browsing. You can see, '''''but not remove''''', the Java Console extensions in Add-ons > Extensions. Java Console extensions can be safely removed '''''manually''''' by following the instructions in this article:

  • Which version do i need for kindle fire

which version of flash player do I need for kindle fire?

Adobe stopped ALL development of Flash for Android last year.
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html there are older versions of Flash Player (for Android) at that link, but there are no guarantees any of them will work.
    Check Android forums for alternatives.

I've read a lot about "Dolphin" for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
I'm not an Android user (no tablet or phone) so I can't make any endorsements that would hold any credibility, but most of the Flash solutions I've read point to Dolphin as the best alternative.
Again, check Android forums: http://androidforums.com/ to see what their "gurus" recommend.

  • Which version of LabVIEW needed?

I developed an application with the students version of LabVIEW 6.1 (prof.). I think I don't need all the features of the prof-version. Now I want to use the version 7. How can I find out which editon (Base-, Professional- or Full-System) I need? Is there a testversion of the base-edition?

The base version is just as the name implies. You would be better off if you chose the full developemet edition of labview 7.1(current version) This will give you all the functionality of the base version plus a lot more features. Some you may not need NOW but will become valuable in the future as you use labview more. I think the full version will satify your needs. Here is a link you can use to make a better choice.

  • I want to update my imac software to a version that uploads the icloud icon in preferences. Which version do I need and how do I force my imac to update that software.

I am currently running OSX 10.6.8. this version does not have the icloud icon in system preferences. How do I do a forced software update to a version that allows icloud operations. To qualify I have done a number of software updates using the software update dropdown but it does not find the most recent software like mountain Lion or Mavericks etc.  Why? surely if I am asking the computer to find the most recent software it would tel me that I am running an out of date software level?

    Hi Tubbsy,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
When you run Software Updates from the Apple Menu, it looks for software to update for your current operating system. The first version of Mac OS X to have iCloud functionality built into the System Preferences was Mac OS X Lion 10.7. The current version of Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 is available in the Mac App Store that you can access from the Apple Menu and it is free. Please be sure to check the system requirements to make sure your computer can support the software before downloading and installing. The attached article contains that information and instructions for downloading and installing.

  • Which version do I need to upgrade to Elements 10.

If I want to upgrade from Elements 7 to Elements 10, can I buy the full version or do I need the Upgrade version to be able to read all my information (tags, catagories, edits)?  I can find the full version for less $ than the Upgrade version. Thanks.

Thanks for the info! Interesting that the Full version can be found cheaper than the Upgrade. Good to know there is not some kind of catch that would come back and bite me ( like not being able to access my photo info: tags and edit info).

  • Satellite M70-122 - Which version of Windows XP do I need?

I want to download Windows XP Home Edition. Which version do I need (OEM, Retail) that have passed activation?
At the back of the laptop in the certificate reads:
    Windows XP Home Russian 672
    and product key
    XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XX320

    Hi
Yes, the retail version of Windows must be activated.
In your case I would take a Toshiba recovery disk. If you dont have one, you can buy one from an authorized service provider. Its cheaper as a retail version and there are already all drivers and tools preinstalled.
There you can also disable the devices that you dont need.

  • I need to upgrade but don't know which version I have to get.  Do I have to go through each lower version or can I go straight to 10.8 then get free MAverick upgrade?  I live FAR from Apple store, so download upgrade is preferred.  :)

Need a newer version of Os to run printer and software.  Confused if I need to get which version to be able to upgrade to MAverick for free.  Also, need something I can download since Apple store is far away.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X. For detailed information see this user tip:  https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271 )
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is still available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Before installation you should back up all your data.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes (you will need the latest version in order to synch with mobile devices).
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
    MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    iCloud system requirements:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4759
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
    or Mountain Lion:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion

  • Which version of iPhoto you need for streaming?

I have an iPhone 4, with iOS 5, streaming active. But there is no streaming of pictures towards my Mac. I read the explanations, the help pages in iCloud and Apple doesn't mention at all which version of iPhoto you need for this feature. It's sure that in the Sources I don't have "Streaming", as I can see in their image. I have iPhoto 8.1.2 and OS 10 6.8.

Hi, thanks for the answer, but iCloud works on my Mac with Snow Leopard.
From Safari I can access through icloud.com to Calendar, Contacts, Mail, iWork and Find my iPhone. Actually I don't have iWork for the iPhone, so I can't really use it, and I didn't activate Mail (in my iPhone), because all my accounts are IMAP and messages are saved forever.
Well, the only other thing that interested me was Streaming (so is it called in Italian, but you are right, in the English version of the help pages it is called Photo Stream).
I'm aware that the version of iPhoto that I need for that feature must be more recent than mine, but I still hope that there is a version of iPhoto which supports Photo Stream and requires only Snow Leopard. I think that after iLife 9 (my version) there is directly iLife 11 (the present version), and I know it requires only 10.6.3 and not Lion. If Photo Stream is supported by iLife 11 and iLife 11 requires 10.6.3.... But perhaps there is an exception for some features, like Photo Stream. I would like to know...
I don't want to update to Lion, it is a slow system.
    Thanks again

  • I have an iPad 1 that is currently showing software updated at version 5.1.1.  Is it possible to update to iOS version 7 on this device?  My goal is to get Garage Band on this device and the app store is telling me I need iOS version 7.

I have an iPad 1 that is currently showing software updated at version 5.1.1.  Is it possible to update to iOS version 7 on this device?  My goal is to get Garage Band on this device and the app store is telling me I need iOS version 7.

    Hi,
If you really need to upgrade you can save a bit of money and get an older version than the ipad Air.
First, you can sell your ipad 1 to places like gazelle.com, cashforyourmac.com, sellyour mac.com, or many others out there. The sites I listed give you cash. At this point gazelle.com is giving $70.00 for any ipad 1 in 'good' condition. And cashforyourmac will give you $25.00 over what gazelle.com or sellyourmac.com offers you. Shipping is free.
Then, with that money, go the the Apple online certified refurbished store. As an example, a new 64gb Air costs $699.00. A refurbed 4th gen 64gb costs $529.00 and a 3rd gen 64gb costs $499.00. Personally, I'd skip the 3rd gen. So if you buy a 4th gen 64gb at $529.00 minus what you can get from a sale to above, you can get an ipad 4 64gb for just over $430.00, a savings of savings of about $270.00. (A new 32gb Air is $599.00, a 4th gen 32gb is $449.00, and a 3rd gen 32gb is not on the site right now.) Google it and check if you can get better offers anywhere else. But getting one from the Apple refurb store gives you an essentially new ipad and using the above sites, you're not locked in with a particular site which will give you a gift card and restrict you to their store/site.
Each Apple refurbished ipad (any version) comes with a new front and back cover, a brand new battery, same return policy, and a full one year warranty with 90 days of phone support. Each comes in a white box like a new ipad with the wall charger and usb cable. The only difference is that it says in small print on the bottom of the box that it is Apple certified refurbished. Also, if you buy refurbs, be sure to check the store many times a day. They can come and go quickly, so when you see what you want, buy it right away. Shipping is free and pretty fast. (We bought two a year and a half ago and they have been great!)
    Hope this helps.

  • I have upgraded to Lion, and want to upgrade my iPhoto 8.1.2, but when I try it says it was not purchased at a MAC Apple store, which it was.  Then it asks if I want to buy 9.2.3, and I say yes. It responds with Product Distribution file can't be verified

I have upgraded to Lion, and want to upgrade my iPhoto 8.1.2, but when I try it says it was not purchased at a MAC Apple store, which it was.  Then it asks if I want to buy 9.2.3, and I say yes. It responds with Product Distribution file can't be verified. Maybe damaged or not signed.  How do I get this fixed, so I can download the new iphoto's that are available.

How did you move your iPhoto library to the new system?  the recommended way is Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formed Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

  • Which version of iPhoto should I use?

When I picked up my repaired MacBook (Intel Core Duo) the person at the Apple Store showed me how to restore all of its data using my Time Machine backup.  He told me that during the repair they had installed Snow Leopard.  He had forgotten that I had told him when the MacBook first died we were told it was not worth repairing and we purchased a new MacBook Pro running Lion.  The TM backup was from that machine.  The intent was to have two machines with the same Apps & data so each of two users could take either machine and go forward from that point.  Each machine would then have its own TM Backup.
After many discussions with tech support, almost everything except iPhoto (and incoming Apple Mail) on the MacBook works OK.  That's probably because during the restore, iPhoto 9.1.5 was installed.  It does not open because of a Frameworks conflict of some sort.  Earlier versions of iPhoto say the Library was created with a newer version.  (I temporarily moved the iPhoto Library out of my User>Pictures Folder, opened iPhoto 7.x and imported some photo's to create a new Library.  That worked.  My original Library is 35 GB so each attempt to fix anything in it has been time consuming.  That's why I'm asking the real experts.
I've seen a suggestion from Terrance Devlin to "rebuild" the Library using the iPhoto Library Manager and others by Terrance, Neil, Old Toad, and Kappy to drag a different version of Frameworks into System>Library>?  (Apparently, some OS X 10.7 support files were loaded onto the MacBook.)  Which ones and which version?
Which version of iPhoto should I use on the MacBook?  Which version does OS X 10.6.8 support?  Eventually, we'd also like to merge some of the individual Libraries into a shared Library.  Is iPhoto Library Manager the best way to do that?  (Speaking of that, I understand Apple does not support backup of non-Lion Mac's via Wi-Fi, except if using Time Capsule.  Seagate sells an external 2 TB Hard Drive that connects via ethernet to your Router, for that purpose.  Does it work well?)

    Terence,
Below is a copy of the Problem Report I get after I double click the iPhoto (9.1.5) icon in my Applications folder.  Both iPhoto 6 and iPhoto 7 open but cannot read my iPhoto Library that was restored from a Lion TM backup.  I tried moving my iPhoto Library out of the Pictures folder and was able to create a new one using iPhoto 7.1.5.
Inside of System>Library, there are two copies of the following folders:
    Frameworks
    PodcastProducer
    Keychains
    Java
In each case, the name of the second folder includes "(from old Mac)" without the quotes after the folder name.  I believe my issue is being caused by the System using Frameworks instead of Frameworks (from old Mac), but I have not been able to switch them easily and, as you said, do not want to do serious damage.
The only other thing that does not work properly is incoming IMAP mail via AOL and Google.  Outgoing works on those two plus Incoming and Outgoing work on the Verizon POP account.

I have a new downloaded OS X now my Iphoto version 8.2 needs upgrading I downloaded 9.3 but I cant use it as I need a minimum of 9.1 how do I do this ?

You can purchase the newest version of iPhoto on the Mac app store. Cost (in US dollars) is $14.99.
It sounds like you downloaded an iPhoto update to take version 9.1 up to 9.3. You can't use it with version 8.x.
    Best of luck.
