IPhoto synced photos display in iOS sorted by date imported

This is precisly what's happening to me, and it definately changed with either the last iTunes update or the last iPhoto update.  I can't be sure.  I'd be willing to bet it's iTunes, since the photos display in iPhoto (date taken ascending) just fine.
I can confirm there's an issue with one of those programs, NOT with iOS 6 specifically. iTunes and iPhoto are up to date as of this post, having updated both within the last week or so as updates were available. All photos are grouped into Events within iPhoto.
1. I removed photo synching from all iOS devices, and deleted the iPod photo cache.
2. In iPhoto, I reset manual sorting, switched from date descending to date ascending (what I want). Everything in iPhoto displays correctly.
Those two steps have fixed sorting issues in the past.
3. Sync photos to iPhone with iOS 6.0.1
4. All photos are correctly ordered, with the exeption of the photos imported SINCE the last iPhoto (or iTunes) update.  THESE, and only these photos are sorted by import date, NOT date taken, so they are appended to the very end of the event.
5. I repeated the process with an iPhone still on iOS 5.1.1 - same result.
So, this issue is sync related, not iOS related.  Again, I can't be sure if it's an iPhoto or iTunes thing, but a recent update of one of those (or both?) has messed this up. Anyone else seeing this?

Sound like an iTunes  or iPhone issue.  Post your question in those forums.

    Hi Larry,
If you don't mind using Win32_Product, you can do that this way:
    Get-WmiObject Win32_Product |
    Sort InstallDate |
    Select Name,Caption,Version,Vendor,InstallDate
    EDIT: Also,
Bill Stewart has a good script that uses the registry instead of Win32_Product. I'm not sure if it returns an installed date though.

  • Synced photos from iTunes not sorted correctly

I have around 300 pics that I took with my iphone that I moved to a local folder on PC.
I want to put those pics back on the iphone to use in a timelapse video.
I enabled Photo sync on itunes and chose that folder, and synced.
All synced OK, but these pics are not sorted correctly on the iphone.
The file names on the PC are exactly as iphone assigned them when taken, and according to date taken.
It is very important that they are sorted in ascending file name; any ideas how I can correct the sorting?
    Thanks.

For those in this discussion concerned with the "Sort" order, the criteria is in the "metadata" date that changes when you adjust the photos.
The directions below apply to Lightroom
To keep the order you created you must make an adjustment to "ALL" photos at the same time such as increasing the contrast by (1) point.
First select and change the contrast in the first photo in your collection, then select the remaining photos, click "Sync" The "Metatdata" date will change on all photos selected and will then import in the prper order.
I should mention that I have renamed all photos so they have a name that is sequential but I don't know if that matters

  • Cannot delete iphoto synced photos

    Hi people,
Somehow Iphoto has synced more than 2 gigabyte worth of photos from my macbook to my iphone 3gs and there is apparently no way for me to delete them from my phone.
If i try to delete the photos i've taken with my iphone (those located in camera roll) i've only got to press the little bin. But if i try to use the same method on the iphoto imported photos (located in 3 different folders like camera roll) there is no bin.
Anybody else got this problem or got some answer?

    Thanks for the answer
But I've been looking for something like a photo tap in itunes but can't seem to find it. The top taps when selecting iphone in itunes are (my itunes is in danish, so i'm not sure what the taps are called in english mind) "overview, info, applications, ring tones, music, film, tv shows, podcasts and itunes-u.
Do you know where to find that photos tap?

  • Sync Photos between Mac & iOS

Am I right in assuming it is no longer possible to synch Photos libraries between Mac and iOS without using the iCloud Photo Library?

That's what I've been trying to do. Nothing is syncronized. Where it says "Copy photos from" – earlier I think you could select the iPhoto library, but there's no way to select the Photos library.

  • When scrolling through IPhoto, others photos displayed?

Recently I had a number of problems where I had to get a new hard drive and restore everything.
The hard drive was replaced after I brough my MacBook Pro to Apple regarding a problem with my slideshows.  The music, and sometime the pictures, were skipping and/or pausing for various lengths.  I had tried repair data without success.
The tech felt the hard drive was having problems so it was replaced.
After a full restore the slideshows were a little better in that only the music skipped or paused.  I checks the music source and it was all fine.
So we went back to Apply and our only choice was a Rebuild Database (was reluctant to do this because I thought I might loose all me projects like slideshows and albums.)  Well, the Rebuild worked and the slideshows seem fine.
However, now whenever I scroll through pictures, photos from everywhere show up for a split second before changing to the correct photos.  In slideshows the stream of photos accross the top are all random from the IPhoto data base.  When I select one of them, the correct photo is displayed.
It doesn't seem to affect the slideshow but makes it difficult when editing.
Any ideas?   I am using IPhoto 11 p.3.2 and I have installed the latest update.

I have tried, several times, to rebuild my thumbnails.  However. after progressing to a little over half way I keep getting the following message:
The volume for “DSC_3556.JPG” cannot be found.
Insert the disk or connect to the server volume and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again.
With the options -  CANCEL            FIND PHOTO     TRY AGAIN
Find Photo does not give me any possibilities and Try Again doesn't work.  So I keep hitting cancel.  Each time I hit Cancel and a new "Volume for..."  comes up.   I have spent hours hitting Cancel and although the Progress Bar moves a bit, it never ends and usually crashes.
I try again and it appears that the same volume I cancelled the first and second tries appear again.
I also noticed that every time I open an event there is a mish mash of pictures with only a few that belong there.  Howver, when I click on them, the right photo appears.
    This is a real mess.

  • Is there a way to sort by date imported?

    Hi everybody,
Is there a way to sort photos by the date they were imported, rather than by EXIF data?
If iPhoto 6 does not offer this option, does iPhoto '09?
The reason I ask is that not all my photos are from cameras. Some are scanned, and others are from e-mails. I'd also like the ability to simply ignore EXIF data since so many cameras are set to an incorrect date.
    Thanks beautiful people!

    No there isn't.
However, you can correct the dates on shots taken with cameras (Photos -> Adjust date and time) and add dates to scanned photos.

  • IPhoto missing photos, sorta...

A strange thing recently happened with my iPhoto. Yes, my Mac and all
    apps are up to date.
I imported some photos from my iPhone. After the import, not all the
photos show up in the "Photos" or "Events" sections. However, they do
show up in "Last Import" and a smart album I set up called "Last 6
    Months".
At first I thought it may be a date error, but the metadata is correct
and the photos are not marked as hidden. Please help.
PS: I have Photo Stream enabled, therefore do I even need to be
importing my photos from my iPhone? Does Photo Stream copy my photos
    to my library automatically?

Make sure you have iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane set to automatically import the PS photos as shown below:

  • My photos not sorted by date in photos

my photos are no longer sorted by date after change to photos when viewed in all photos. Also how do you change the order from oldest to newest down the screen. An option for black background would be nice.

The problems reported here occurred right after updating to iOS according to the users as TD mentioned.
It's a compatibility problem between iPhoto and iOS6 that the only workaround would be to possibly batch change the date of the photos in iPhoto . Therefore we'll have to wait for it to be fixed with either an iPhoto update or an iOS update, which ever Apple feels is the proper item to to be changed.
If they update iPhoto first (which is probably what they'll do) it'll be called an iPhoto problem.

  • ITunes will not sync Photos with iPad

iTunes 11.1.5 will not sync photos from iPhoto 9.5.1 to an iPad running IOS 7.1.1....
The sync will not complete it just spins forever on 'importing photos'....  I have always selected Sync photos from 'iPhoto' and 'Selected albus,s, Events and Faces....   I typically only sync around 20 photos between the two but now iTunes will not add photos to the iPad nor delete photos from the iPad....
Since these photos were added with iTunes I can not manually delete them from the iPad....
If I deselect 'Sync Photo from iPhoto' the sync will complete but the photos are not deleted from the iPad....
I suspect that iTunes may be looking for a previous release of iPhoto (since the photo library was 'upgraded' to iPhoto 9.5.1 so it just seems logical that iTunes may not be recognizing the new and improved iPhoto library??
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    John Jones

    The photos won't get lost.
You don't sync photos to the computer using iTunes.
Import them to the computer like you would with any camera.
Then delete them from the iPad and re-add them using iTunes. This gets them out of the camera roll.

  • Tracks sorted by date / album / track number

    Hello,
I always display my tracks sorted by date added, because I like to see my newest records first. This way the new "album view", with the sleeve on the left of the tracks, looks good.
Except there is something really annoying, because it is sorted by date, it seems to be strictly sorted by date, and the tracks do not show in the correct order, more in the order, seond by second, they were added to the library.
Is there a way to make the tracks show by date added, but within one album sorted by song order ?
    Thanks

The link should have taken you to my scripts page, where clicking on the name of the script should have given you a file to download called SortDateAdded.vbs. Assuming you saved this without changing the .vbs extension then I'm not sure why it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure Vista should support VBScript without any extra effort, but I'll have a hunt around and see what I can find out. Perhaps there is some optional component that was excluded during your Vista install.
    Ah... try this link: http://colinwetherbee.com/weblog/archives/2007/04/vbscriptnotre.html

  • Iptc and xmp, data important for organizing photos?

HI, I keep encountering these two acronyms (IPTC and XMP) while working with my photos in Aperture.  Are these data important, should I be doing anything with it?  Essentially what I am doing is, after importing photos from iPhoto, I am filing to Folders, Projects, and Albums (some Smart). Thanks

    Astechman,
EXIF (which you didn't ask about) is Exchangable Interchange Format, and those fields are generally physical attributes about your photos, as recorded by your camera.  Things like date/time, aperture, shutter speed, etc.  Some people like to think they should be able to change those, but that doesn't make any sense (except if your camera's clock is wrong.)
IPTC (International Press Telecommunications Council) data is used in digital media as metadata for the author to put things.  These include things like keywords, location narratives, copyright notice, photographer name.  I.e., things that don't have anything to do with the camera or the physical attributes of the photo, but about the subject/content of the photo or the photographer.
XMP adds onto IPTC, and is often associated with a "sidecar" file, in which a digital asset manager system (DAMS) saves extra metadata to such a file.  (Aperture is a DAMS, but it does not use sidecar files; it keeps data like that within the library.)
As for what you should be doing with it -- that's up to you.  How much metadata do you want associated with your photos?  Fill in those fields and just ignore the rest.  I tend to fill in keywords and copyright, and that's about it, but there are many other fields that may be of interest to you.

  • When I try to sync my photos on iphone using itunes, some events are incomplete on my iphone and they are all randomly placed instead of being sorted by date like on my iphoto. Help?

Using the latest Iphoto and Iphone5 software. I try to sync all my photos on my iphone and for some reasons, when they appear on my iphone, some events (when i go to events from mac) are incomplete (photos missing in some events) and randomly presented as opposed to being sorted by date like they are on my iphoto on my mac. This also happens on trying to sync my ipad... Solution anyone?

    Hey there vtec99,
It sounds like you are syncing photos from iPhoto on your computer but not all the photos you set to sync are actually coming over, and they are disorganized. Based on what you are describing, I would recommend deleting the iPod Photo cache which stores picture information that iTunes uses to sync photos from your iPhoto library. The following article will help you do that:
iTunes: Understanding the iPod Photo Cache folder
When you use iTunes to sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, iTunes creates a folder called iPod Photo Cache. The iPod Photo Cache stores photos that are optimized for display on your device. The location of this folder depends on the syncing options you select. In iTunes, if you change the selection in the Sync Photos From menu, a new iPod Photo Cache folder will be created (and the previous folder will remain).
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Photos edited on iOS iphoto sync with OS X iPhoto?

I understand how to sync photos from iPhoto on my MBP to my iPad through iTunes by checking the box to sync photos from my iPhoto library on my MBP.
So that gets the photos on my iPad. I like using iPhoto on my iPad to edit those photos (straighten, crop, etc...). When I'm done editing, I want those edited photos to replace the original in my MBP iPhoto library.
Is this possible, if so, how do I do this?

No - you can sync it to the Mac (or use PhotoStream) and import to iPhoto as a new photo
