IPhoto tells me I'm not connected to the internet

When I try to use places, iPhoto tells me I'm not connected to the internet. However, I certainly am connected to the internet, and everything else works fine. I'm using the latest version of iphoto (version 9.1.5)
There have been other threads with the same problem, but they are all archived now and as far as I can see, no solution has been provided for the problem.
thanks.

  • CS6 Design and Web Premium: can't open DW as it tells me I'm not connected to the internet

I downloaded CS6 Design and Web Premium 30 day trial, but can't open Dream Weaver as it tells me I need to install a java runtime to do this but that I can't because I'm (apparently) not connected to the internet. I am connected however, and when I try the network diagnostics it also confirms that I'm connected to the WiFi.
    Help?

I can't update my software because software update tells me I'm not connected to the internet... if that's true how am I able to ask this question?... Can anyone tell me what's going on and what I need to do to correct this?

If you have a slow connection speed, update will not download.
Are you using broadband and are you close to the modem?

what to do when unable to access itunes store? I tried logging in but it tells me I'm not connected to the internet.

You cannot use the iTunes Store of any country other than one one in which you live and have a payment method. If the Sound Cloud app is no longer available in your country's iTunes Store, then that app will not be available to you. Contact the developer and ask if they have any plans to re-release it in your country; it may have been removed due to a problem or pending update and will be reinstated at some point.
    Regards.

  • Safari tells me I am not connected to the internet, but Chrome works fine...

    Hi -
Today I logged in and went to load pages in both Chrome and Safari.
Chrome loaded fine, but Safari tells me I'm not connected to the internet.
The network preferences say I'm connected via Ethernet.

    Check the Firewall ..
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
If it's turned on, click the padlock icon then click Firewall Optios
If Safari is in the list, lick the double arrow on the right then select:  Allow incoming connections then click OK.

I am trying to update my iPad but it keeps telling me that i am not connected to the Internet...obviously I am.  What am I doing wrong?

There are countless posts about this.  There's a problem at Apple's end and has been so for several days.
However, I have no trouble updating using itunes on my computer and later syncing to my device.

  • IPhoto says "Your computer is not connected to the internet"

For a few days now, iPhoto has repeatedly refused to do things (e.g., show a Help page) because it claims the computer (a Macbook Pro, OS X 10.9.5, iPhoto 9.5.1). isn't connected to the internet.  I have a bunch of terminal windows and half a dozen different browsers running, and they all agree that the internet is available and working just fine.
Why would iPhoto do this?  Or more to the point, how can I fix it, and convince it that the machine is indeed connected to the internet?
(Yes, I did try iPhoto's Help tool.  It told me that the computer wasn't connected to the internet, and to try again later. ;-)

If an app has access to a very big database of images with known locations, the reverse image search can "guess" at what or who it is... here's a little test (you can try it with your photos too)
Save this image to your computer
(cheating because we know it is an image from Organ Pipe National Monument
BUT it is also a screenshot with NO EXIF data attached )
    http://images.google.com
    hover for the "Camera Tool"
choose Upload and do so with "Picture 3.png"
    Google does several things -
    Guess at the content
Find matches on the web for its guess's search terms
Find 'similar' images  <<<===============THIS IS WHAT iPhoto SEEMS TO HAVE DONE!
show web pages that have the image on them
Remember, although a trick question test, it is a legitimate proof of the ability of the Guess Engine
I believe that the "buildings"(environment) in your old timey photos are the key to location guessing - if place is guessed, GoogleMaps can locate it w/ GPS coordinates from its database's cross reference
All that said, what Engine iPhoto is using is unknown to me - that's just how it works

  • Why does my iPad2 tell me I am not connected to the Internet

When attempting to launch Safari I get an error message telling me I am not connected to the Internet.  It works fine when about three feet away from the Time Machine but not in my living room some ten feet away even though the signal strength indicator shows full. I have tried reset several times and, again, while in the other room, when I type in my password, I get an error stating that the network cannot be joined.

I assume that something in your preferences files, maybe
    Macintosh HD:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.LSSharedFileLi st.plist
(I don't know why the message parser added a space between redLi and st)
contains references to files stored on the network.
Try to move it on the Desktop before running Pages.
An other track may be fonts stored somewhere on the network, not on your machine.
As Pages use its own cache file, the System may have a correct list of reachable fonts but Pages is unaware of this reduced list.
    The cache file is:
    Macintosh HD:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Caches:com.apple.iWork.fonts
Try to move it on the Desktop before running Pages.
Post here the results of these tests.
If the problem is really linked to one of these files, I will be able to write a script to run to launch Pages. It will delete the offending file before launching the app.

  • When I try to install CS3 After Effects, it tells me I'm not connected to the internet.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks

Okay - thanks again for helping!  I'm running an older Mac (see attached "About this Mac" screen grab). And. I've tried connecting with both Safari 5.0.6 and FireFox 3.6.28
This is a previous copy of AE that my boss gave me (since we no longer use it at work) - and as far as I can tell it's the ONLY version that will run on my box.

  • My itunes will not connect to the internet for some reason,

i can go to the itunes store but when i try to update my iphone it tells me i am not connected to the internet whats going on? anyone have any idea?

I am experiencing this problem as well.
I have access to the internet and can download songs from the music store but iTunes is being its usual pain in the rear and says I do not have an internet connection when I try to download any updates.
This does not seem to be a firewall issue, at least as far as I can tell, as I have McAfee and both iTunes and iTunes Helper have Full Access in my firewall settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Apple TV "not connected to the internet" when woken up

    Hi,
So my Apple TV works fine... Except that every time I wake it up after a long time of being in standby or simply not in use, it tells me it's "not connected to the internet". This is really strange because it IS connected-- even when I wake it up to find that message, I can go on itunes in it, watch podcasts and youtube and basically do everything online. It also HAS downloaded TV shows automatically that I have passes for. Yet every morning when I start using it, I see that message. I usually only see it in the morning after it's not used all night... I don't think I've ever seen it during the day after it's not being used for only a few hours.
    What could this mean?

I am also having this problem. It only started happening after I switched from a wired connection to my dsl router to a wireless connection. The message is not there every morning, only maybe 25% of the time. I leave my ATV on all the time, so it is not an issue with standby.
In spite of the message everything works fine - movie trailers, youtube, etc, so it is a minor issue for me at the moment.
I have yet to try buying and downloading a movie, I am wondering if it's overnight download could be interrupted by this problem...
