IPhoto templates

I'm about to go insane with the new iPhoto I installed yesterday. I was able to get the
templates yesterday but not able to send the email I created. Kept getting a password
question and getting rejected.
Today I went to share and cannot get to the templates. I choose the photos and get
the old question box of small medium etc., I click the size and get an email form with the
photos and don't get the templates.
Add this to the fact that my library came back in a different order with some of the newer photos
in different places. I went to sort them manually but that is grayed, yesterday and today. I'm
getting too old for this and very frustrated.

Unfortunately, no. Other iApps, like iDVD, iWeb have third party templates but not iPhoto for cards and books. There are 3rd party layouts for exporting html galleries, however.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

IPhoto templates updated and changed

Hi there, I've just finished my first set of iPhoto books in iPhoto '11. I designed the books, went to pay the books and it said I needed to update my software in order to buy my book - which I did. Then when I went back to amend one of the books I had made pre-upgrade, the templates seemed different. There were no longer the layout options which I had built the pages with and it started adding borders - which I do not want. (The theme I was using was Picture Book).
I don't particularly want to have to re-layout this book as it took me ages to do in the first place. Does anyone have any suggestions? Know what is causing this or have a solution?!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What version of iPhoto were you using before the update and what updater did you apply?
If you couldn't order without the latest iPhoto updater then I don't think going back to the previous version would let you either.

what happened to those templates that offered layouts of a few photos at one, like for instance a 5x7 and some walllets?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can print multiples of one photo but not sure you can have the various sizes you want on one sheet. There's a 3rd party application, Portraits and Prints, that's supposed to have those kind of templates. Where do iPhoto Template-created SENT mails get stored?

When I send a mail from within iPhoto (bypassing other mailing clients), where does the sent mail reside? It occurs to me that I might want to delete them after sending, since they can be quite large

"You can also see whether or when you emailed a photo. Select the photo, click the Info button in the toolbar, and look in the Sharing section to see to whom and when the photo was sent. Click the entry in the Sharing section to open an email you’ve sent, so you can view, edit, or resend it. (If you don’t see a Sharing section, you haven’t shared the photo.)"
If this is like the calendar, it doesn't really keep a copy, but builds it on the fly. You can test it by deleting one of the photos from the email and see if you can still view the email.

IPhoto email shows question mark instead of email template

I sent some photos using iPhoto last night, i have gmail account i use to send photos. I learned after i had emailed the photos through iPhoto my receipts received the email with a question mark instead of the iPhoto template. I tried sending a couple to myself and my wife (she has hotmail if it matters) but all of them showed the question mark i attached a photo below. Any help in fixing this would be great.

Emailing photos through iPhoto without templates?

I recently had to erase my drive and re-install all my software. I'm using Snow Leopard (10.6.8). When I first got iLife 11 when it came out I somehow or other got iPhoto to work in the old way as far as selecting a few photos and sending them through Mail with no iPhoto template. Share>Email>select size, would bring them up in a blank window ready to send. I'm sending business emails and have no interest whatsoever in the templates. Now I can't remember how I did that, but I believe it was with the help of Apple.
Does anyone know how to make the Share>Email bypass the templates and simply open up a new Mail window with the photos in it? Thanks in advance but please don't suggest using the photo browser, which doesn't put the sent mail in sent mail in Mail, or dragging the selected photos onto the Mail icon in the dock. I know how to do those things but I did have it set up the other way before I re-installed everything so I know it's possible.... I just can't remember how to do it.

IPhoto book import/templates

I upgraded to Aperture 3 when it was released and upgraded to Snow Leopard at the same time. I now need to reprint a book I created in iPhoto 08 and have just realized this wasn't imported to Aperture.
In reading the discussion groups it appears that Aperture doesn't import the books and also doesn't have the same templates available nor can it import the iPhoto template.
If anyone from Apple is monitoring this discussion, how about addressing this by enabling Aperture to import books that took a huge amount of effort to create!
Who ever made the decision not to support this feature should be fired! I know I'm not the only person migrating to Aperture 3 and I'm sure this is something you would like more users to do. Therefore, Aperture 3 should be a superset of features, at least when it comes to these commonly used capabilities.
If I had known in advance, there is no way I would have migrated.

Sean, am having same problem, and am hoping that someone out there may have discovered a work-around? I haven't deleted iPhoto pix yet, so could still export them to Aperture if this is possible, although am starting to think it's not.
If someone else is thinking of migrating, it may be useful to migrate, but store originals in iPhoto library (there's an option to keep them there when you import iPhoto library into Aperture). Then you'll still have access to them and won't double your photo memory space. And if you need to go back and reprint a book it'll be there.
All future photo adds will be in your aperture library. Unfortunately this isnt' ideal, but until they allow us to "import a book" from iPhoto, it's the only way to keep that option to print again. This also applies to calendars/cards/etc. as far as I can tell...

I have the latest version of iPhoto and now I don't have the Apple templates for emailing photos. What happened? How can I get them back?

I have the latest version of iPhoto and somehow I have lost the ability to use the Apple iPhoto templates for emailing photos. I select my photos, go to Share, go to email, and the templates used to pop up. Now the photos go directly to email. Does anyone know how I can get the templates back?

I encountered the same issue after an upgrade of iPhoto, and it was resolved by clicking on the "iPhoto" button on the menu on the top left of your screen, then "preferences", and in the very first window (General), select the very last pull-down menu "email photos using".
There, you can select various email providers, aol (if set-up), Microsoft outlook, etc... and of course, iPhoto (which should be the very first choice on the pull-down menu).
Select iPhoto, and you will immediately be able to use the templates and make cool cards when emailing your photos from iPhoto.
I hope this helps if your question has not yet been answered.

Templated iPhoto slideshow will NOT export interlaced no matter what I do!

I'm a very IT-literate, video technology literate guy, primarily because I am a video editor, so I do know my 25p from my 25i.
I've a series of photos, assembled in iPhoto, templated with lovely - if impossible to edit - transitions, set to music, its all divine. I play it on my 1920x1200 monitor and it's a smooth as silk.
Now, I want to burn it to DVD. Even HD-DVD. So, to keep the motion smooth, I need it to export as interlaced video.
I've tried everything. Hi-def Apple Intermediate Codec set to Custom and HDV25i, (or whatever it's called; I can't check as I'm exporting my n-millionth version), I've tried Apple ProRes422 (HQ and 4444 - both abort in the export), I've tried standard def DV (interlace option on, of course), I've tried 8bit uncompressed, AJA 10bit YUV...you get the picture.
Nothing, but nothing is coming out of iPhoto interlaced. Oh, I've done share to iDVD, too, but same thing.
Does anyone have any clues? It's really a requirement for the software, given the fast motion whip pans it does between the slides, but I can't make it work, and I do this kind of thing for a living.
I did search this forum for "interlaced" but only came up with another thread that I'd posted in! If there are other threads elsewhere, I'd really appreciate a link!

The iPod will need to be serviced, to determine the exact fault and repair it (if possible). You can get the current 7th gen iPod nano as an Apple-certified refurb for $99 (with a one-year warranty)

Be sure to rule out the other possibilities. If you have an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar and take it there (along with your docking cable).

Cannot email photos from iPhoto

I have just installed a whole load of updates and iPhoto didn't work so I re-installed from my iLife 11 disc. I had to update the software before it worked. So far so good. Sadly when I click 'share' in order to email a photo, despite having selected the picture, when the email dialogue box comes up it is blank - it is as if I never selected any photo. Prior to upgrading it was working fine. Can anyone suggest what might be amiss here? Thanks

Cannot email photos from iphoto 9.2

I have iphoto 9.2 and cannot email photos. When I go to send it, it tells me that "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."
What does that mean? I thought I had it set up to send from my POP account.

Iphoto and imovie and garageband don't work!!

iphoto and imovie and garageband will not reinstall, but they worked after upgrading to mountain lion, but have had to do a clean install and i can't get them to install now, any suggestions please?

Nevethless, I just tried the following scenario :
On my Imac (OS X Lion), I have two user accounts, mine and one for my daughter.
1. If my daughter send me an email from her account and her Iphoto using iphoto template, I receive her email on my accouint perfectly. I do not have the message "plug-in missing".
2. On the other hand, if I send an email from my account and my Iphoto using iphoto template to my daughter, she receives my email on her account with the message "plug-in missing".
It seems the probleme comes from either my iphoto or my domain an dnot from my mail application. But no idea to fix it.

If you have Mail setup a a client for your Gmail account set iPhoto to use Mail. Then select one of Mail's stationary templates for photos and use it. May not be as good as the iPhoto templates but will be fancier than a plain email window.

Can I create my own greeting card in Photoshop and upload to iPhoto to print?

I'm not completly satisfied with any of the iPhoto templates for greeting cards. I've created my own card in Photoshop. Is there a way to upload it to Apple through iPhoto to have them print for me?

Save email template with photos as pictures

Hello,
with Iphoto you can make nice email layouts with a mix of pictures. I'd to save this creation as a picture in order to print it in a high resolution.
However, it is not possible to save this picture layout (in the iphoto template) in a high resolution. Do you know an other program where I can use such a templates to easy make like a nice card with pictures on it and save it a high resolution.
I'd like to make a collage of some 7 to 9 pics and use it as a card for first communion.

Why not create a Book or a card containing a collage of images in iPhoto? You can save it as a high-resolution image by printing the relevant page to pdf and setting the pdf-button to "Save pdf to folder as jpeg/tiff"
