IPhoto Themes

Hi, I am unable to print using iPhoto 08 version 7.1.5 (running MacOS 10.5.6)as I am told that I need to install themes. Checking the application support folder, I see that the iPhoto folder has all the themes in it with version.plist in the contents folder. How can I print my photos?
regards, Robert

iPhoto 08 is iPhoto v7
iPhoto 09 is iPhoto v8.
And don’t be ridiculous, this is not even slightly confusing on Apple’s part. Not even a smidgen confusing for anybody. Really.
Iphoto 7.1.5 requires you to have installed 7.1.4 first - see the system requirements on the right hand side of this page
http://support.apple.com/downloads/iPhoto7_1_5Update
That’s why it’s telling you there isn’t an eligible iPhoto application.
The 7.1.4 download is here
http://support.apple.com/downloads/iPhoto7_14
and it will update 7.1

  • IPhoto themes missing - tried all archived solutions

Just went to try and recreate a card I made last October as the recipient never received it.
No themes are showing. None are in HD/ Library/App Support/iPhoto folder either - followed all suggestions in several archived threads here. Deleted from receipts folder, repaired permissions, rebooted, tried reinstalling, etc.
Nothing has returned my themes. I am on a MacBook Pro running OSX v10.5.6 and iPhoto 08 v7.1.5.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

So the following didn't work, right?
    Restoring iPhoto Themes
First look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation process described below:
1 - delete the current application.
2 - delete any files with iPhoto in the file name that reside in your HD/Library/Receipts folder.
3 - delete the Themes folder from your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. Also look in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there then delete it also.
5 - mount the system disk that came with your computer, double click on the "Install Bundled Software Only" file and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
After installing reinstall the latest iPhoto updater again followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime version.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

Are you using Yosemite and not apple's Mail app? Then you may need to set up an app-specific password: See the post below:
Re: I am using iPhoto version 9.6 and I can no longer get an email sent with a photo attached. I get an error message saying the email did not go through because the server did not reply. I can send the photo with Mail. Help!in response to Gary Kissler
This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com
    Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
    Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
    And...voila' (I hope)

  • How do I "install" iPhoto themes?

I downloaded iPhoto '11 from the App Store, now my themes can't be located when I attempt to create a book. I can see the themes in my Library folder - Application Support - iPhoto - Themes, there are about 343 theme folders in there, so how can I "install" them? How can I get iPhoto to find them? I see a number of people have had this issue, but as I downloaded the App rather than installed it from a disk, I don't have the option of re-installing it. Would be grateful for any suggestions or advice.
    Thanks

How odd? Those links bring us right back to here...
    Reinstall.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • IPhoto Themes - Where Have they Gone?

Recently had to reinstall iLife 09 so iPhoto was also reinstalled. When trying to print a photo the computer states that no themes are located. I go into the HD, library and delete com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. Tried to print but still no themes, reinstalled iPhoto 09, tried to print again but again no themes are located.
Had a similar problem with iDVD but fixed that up but unable fix the iPhoto themes problem.
Any help/tips would be greatly appreciate as none of the forum advice has fixed the problem so far.

Look in your User/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If you find it there move it to the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder and reboot. Then try iPhoto again. That may save you having to go thru the reinstallation.

  • How can I get iphoto theme to start making a book?

I have made iphoto books for printing before on my iMac but now I cannot.  The computer says there are no themes loaded.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

First try repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility. If that fails to correct the situation you'll need to reinstall iPhoto to get the themes back.
If Lion or Mt. Lion came preinstalled on your Mac go to the App Store under Purchases to download and instll iPhoto.  If your Mac came with Snow Leopard or earlier preinstalled use the disks that came with your Mac to reinstall iPhoto via a custom install.

  • Where is iPhoto theme music located

I am running LION with all items updated. I did install and earlier version of iDVD (v7.1.2). I am trying to find the location of 'THEME MUSIC' from the Slideshow creator in iPhoto. I've searched under all the keywords I can think of, but all the responses lead me the location of the included 'SAMPLE MUSIC', not the THEME. When I go to add music to a slideshow, I am given 4 sources of music:
SAMPLE MUSIC (has a simple folder shown with a listing of songs located in app>content>music
THEME MUSIC (shown with what looks like an old 35mm slide box) This also has a series of songs that will play
GARAGE BAND (has a guitar icon but is empty in my case)
ITUNES (with normal iTunes icon and has all my iTunes music listed)
I search the song names & artist names listed under THEME MUSIC but nothing shows.
Can anyone help with the location of this THEME MUSIC folder/list/database????

    It's located here:
    The files are .m4a files.

The free demo version will do the rebuilding that is suggested.
First, owever, close the iPhoto application, open the iPhoto LIbrary package with the Finder as shown below

  • Using iPhoto theme in iMovie

Is it possible to create a iMovie project using iPhoto's theme? Since the iPhoto crashes when I tried to have 2xx photos exported but liking the theme in iPhoto so much... is there a way/workaround to do this?
Again, I understand that I can export the slideshow to .mov and then edit it in iMovie.. but *exporting 2xx photos just crashed iPhoto every single time*.
    Thank you, fellows! =)

I'm with you on this one! I just finished an iMovie project and had uploaded it to MobileMe to share with family. Well, just as families are, there were some holdouts to the "cloud" revolution who insisted they wanted a physical DVD to put in their DVD player. So when I go to share the iMovie with iDVD, I realize that all of the work I did in iMovie would still require an iDVD theme laid on top of it. Well, due to the NEW themes in iMovie '09, there were no matching themes in iDVD '08. Now my great iMovie project has a different looking iDVD home screen theme than the movie that plays.

  • Obtaining and installing iphoto themes

I tried printing from iPhoto '11. A message came up stating no themes available. There must be a missing file/folder. How can I correct this problem?

They need to be linked to the application and just having them there doesn't guarantee that.  The instructions have changed for iPhoto 11 and Snow Leopard or later:
    Restoring iPhoto 9 (11) Themes
First look in your HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there move it to the Trash. Also look in your Home/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder.  If there is one move it to the Trash.  Reinstall iPhoto as described below:
1 - delete the current application.
2 -files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
3 - mount the disk that iPhoto 11 came on, either an iLife 11 disc or the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
If iPhoto 11 came with the computer then double click on the "Install Bundled Software Only" file and do a custom install.
Apply all of the latest iPhoto 9 (11) updates followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime version.

  • Cannot print from iPhoto. themes missing

cannot print from iPhoto. says themes missing. Libraray/Applicaion support and iPhoto folder missing.
tried to restore from time m/c but no joy. reinstalled iphoto from disc. no joy.

Did you delete the receipts first?
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type

*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • IPhoto themes missing

    Hi,
When I select photos to email from iPhoto and then hit email, it puts them into the email without any themes. But I would really like to use a theme.
Can anyone please help me to 'turn them on' or 'find them'?!
    Thanks

    Thanks LN.
The stationary in Mail didn't seem to be all that good or flexable - do you mean the stationary options? I'm a new iMac user so just still fiddling with it all. Or are there more 'themes' I can get in Mail?
I replied to another of your posts about the email preferences in iPhoto and getting an error message just a min ago.
    Thanks for replying.

  • Anymore Iphoto Themes.. Update?

    Hi,
I am a Editor and currently put together photo memories (slideshow videos) for people and I like the  themes that are on Iphoto when you create a slideshow.
Just wondering if anyone knows anyway to get lots of more themes installed to Iphoto? Do they ever update them?  Or is there another programme similar to the default themes that are with Iphoto ?
    Cheers for the help.
    Sean

No there is no way to add themes to iPhoto.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.
