IPhoto Thinks Phone is always connected

I have a problem where iPhoto (and Image Capture) think my iPhone is connected every time I open the app. I am unable to 'disconnect' the iPhone - I can eject it but it just reappears when I boot iPhoto next time. Also, iPhoto is not really 'seeing' the iPhone because it can't tell when there are new pictures on it.
Additionally, iPhoto (and Image Capture) fails to mount another camera that is attached, specifically my Canon IXUS5.5
This has only recently happened. I'm running latest iPhoto, latest OS with appropriate drivers. My 3G iPhone software is up to date also.
I've tried al the obvious things - trashed iPhoto caches & prefs and anything else that seemed likely, but the problem persists.
Any help appreciated.

I did end up getting this resolved using a mixture of things. Note: just deleting com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501 didn't work permanently for me. I had to do the following:
•Delete com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501
•Repair permissions
•Restart (this is important - I overlooked it the first time and the problem persisted)
[from here everything worked until I connected my iPhone again, at which time the problem reappeared, so I discovered through trial and error that I had to go through the above and then do the following]:
•Boot iPhoto and selected 'Connecting camera opens Image Capture'
•Quit iPhoto
•Connect my Canon camera (which opens Image Capture)
•Eject the Camera in Image Capture
•Quit Image Capture and disconnect the camera
•Open iPhoto and now select 'Connecting camera opens iPhoto' From here you can proceed as normal.
I had to do all this because if I didn't, every time I connected my iPhone (even if I'd trashed com.apple.ImageCaptureNotifications.DeviceDiscoveryDatabase.501) the problem came back. After I ran through the above procedure it seemed to stop the iPhone from taking over, and it's still fine now.

I have difficulty sending photos through iPhoto 11 often get a connection error.  When I go to my email and copy the photos in email the emails go out right away and never seem to have a connection problem?  Why did they cahnge the process for sending photos form iphoto?

It is an addition option some people like and other do not (I do not)  --  to use it as always is trivial - in the iPhoto preferences set Apple Mail as the e-mail client

  • My Sony Cybershot has always connected directly to iPhoto, but I must have changed a setting somewhere, and now it opens in Finder. Very frustrating to have to locate and then drag pics to iPhoto. Would I reset in the camera menu or in System Preferences?

My Sony Cybershot has always connected directly to iPhoto, but I must have changed a setting somewhere and now it opens in Finder. Very frustrating and I can't find where to change the settings - camera menu or Mac Preferences. Any advice?? Thanks

No, not in iPhoto, but instead in Finder (only). I've tried going into the camera menu and making sure it's set on Mass Storage, but no difference. Then I tried Auto - but also no difference.

How did you do that?  Do you mean you sync to iTunes that had the ipad library?
The phone with the issue, settings - general - reset - erase all contents and settings - this will wipe the phone clean and then restore from your backup.

  • The wifi is always connected even when screen is off.

The wifi is always connected. Earlier the wifi connection used to get disconnecetd after few minutes if phone is not used. I wish which of the settings are to be used so that wifi gets off automatically if phone is not used.

Wifi will turn off, or go to sleep when the phone goes into sleep mode unless the phone is actively using wifi for something, such as downloading. It will remain connected if the device is plugged into power.
What makes you think the wifi is "always connected"?

  • Nokia Lumia 925 speaker phone is always "ON"

I just got a Nokia Lumia 925 replacement phone a couple of days ago and upon first using the phone feature the speaker phone is always ON, without the speaker phone tile being selected. If I click on the Speaker Phone Tile nothing changes, the phone remains on speaker phone when I talk on the phone. Is there a settnig I need to change or do I need to replace the phone.
In addition to this annoying problem, I can't answer calls in my car via handsfreelink. I can connect my phone to the car, I can hear the phone ring in the car when someone calls me, but the minute there is a connect I can't hear the person at all.  I think it is related to this speaker phone problem.
Note: I haven't dropped it or got it wet. It's a brand new phone.
    Thanks!

hi mate, check that the phone is up to date with the latest firmware along with the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store. also try performing a soft reset.

  • Iphoto-cell phone micro card "unreadable"

Samsung cell phone, micro S hc 4 gb, emtec micro S adapter, MacBook Pro, 10.7.5, IPhoto 9.4.2.
At import, "preparing for import," then list of files on card, then "unreadable files."
Photos on card JPG. Any suggestions? Thanks

Well on the 3 android phones I've had there is a setting to unmount the micro sd card before removing it from the phone. None of the phones I've had have been samsung but I don't see why they would be any different.
Did you reinsert the card in the phone and then connect the phone to one of the usb ports? And then select the option to use the phone as a mass storage device, that is an option on the phone. That should open up the sd card so you can read and write to it.
If I recall correctly I think I have read about a samsung program you install on your computer for transferring files. A google search should turn that up.

  • Always Connected BT

I am using the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack to connect to a wireless printer. I can pair to the printer just fine, but need a way to have that device always connected without having to click on the printer and select connect.
Is there a way to automate this?
Or to have it connect once it is paired?

    > I would like a way to....
It works how it works. I dont think there is way to have some individual way how to do this.
Is your printer listed in small Bluetooth Settings window?
From time to time I use BT connection with my mobile phone but i must not use paring option every time. I must just enable BT on mobile phone and, like you, click on connect in BT settings mobile phone symbol.

  • How do I make iPhone passive in iPhoto - not once but always

I use Aperture and iPhoto. I import all my photostreams and photos to Aperture. It is my main photo application.
But I also use iPhoto for special fotos and events.
I never syncronize my iPhone with iPhoto or iTunes, but I often connect it to my MacBook just to charge the phone.
Every time I work in iPhoto and connect my iPhone, iPhoto will open my photo roll and make my photo roll ready for import.
Then I can right-click on the iPhone in the iPhoto device list and make the phone "passive". But I have to do that EVERY TIME I connect the phone.
How do I make the iPhone passive??
I don't want the phone to be "married" to iPhoto. It should be "married" to Aperture ONLY.
    Frank

You can't. If iPhoto is open when you connect the phone then it will offer itself from importing.

  • How can I tell if my phone line is connected to a ...

Hi, I have been trying to find out if my phone line is connected to the street cabinet or directly to the exchange as the checker says I am unable to get bt infinity. The house 2 doors away seems to be able to get it and having looked at the spreadsheet (google fusion table) it says that 42% of line on my postcode are enabled. Is there a way of finding if I am in that 42%. My postcode: tn104pb Hope someone can help Thanks

I vaguely remember being informed that something like 4% of telephone lines in the UK are EO - I'm afraid I don't have any references with which to back that up though
Having worked in that part of the network for many years, I don`t think I remember any personal customers on EO cables.
Office blocks, or old established businesses in city centres, were the only ones. That would account for the 4%.
The lack of flexibility was the main issue with EO cables, with the volume of "churn" of domestic customers, it would not have been practical.

  • HT4199 My iphone has always connected automatically without problem to the wifi network at work, i.e.BTBusinessHub, and at home, i.e.Bthomehub. Now it tries to connect at work but doesnt manage it although it still works at home. Can anyone advise why?

My iphone has always connected automatically and without problem to the wifi at work i.e. BTBusinesshub and at home BTHomehub but yesterday it would not connect at work. It is ok at home but again today at work it is not connecting. It appears to try but is not connecting, please help.

You can try doing a reset, hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up - then check wifi - if that doesn't work then
do a network reset note:  you will have to reenter wifi password again when your in range.
settings - general - reset - reset network settings.  If that doesn't work then I would talk to your IT dept.
