Iphoto Title feature gone?

Ok not sure how to word this. When I imported pics to iphoto I was able to highlight the photo then add info below in the box. It would add that as a keyword. Suddenly I can't seem to get the text box to open below the thumbnails at all. Any ideas?

no the keywords show up on the old pics. But now when I import new pics I no longer get a field to type info in when I highlight a thumbnail. As an aside the last time I used Iphoto I was running a slide show and had one of the infamous aluminum imac 'pull the plug from the wall' type shutdowns. I don't know if that corrupted iphoto

  • My IPhoto library is gone and I cannot find it. I have found an earlier version witha few photos but the big one is gone. Any ideas?

My IPhoto library is gone and cannot be found. There is an IPhoto in Applications marked "original". I can find the one I'm looking for using Time Machine but when I try to open it it says that it cannot be opened as there is a newer version installed. Any help would greatly be appreciated:-)

Download and use  Find Any File  to search for the file "Library6.iPhoto" which is in every iPhoto Library package. If you find more than one check both to see if one is your missing library.

  • How do I download all my photos onto an external hard drive intact without loosing iPhoto's features, important info and details? I need to delete pictures and files to make room in My mac's memory which is currently full.

    Hi
How do I download all my photos onto an external hard drive intact without loosing iPhoto's features, important info and details? I need to delete pictures and files to make room in My mac's memory which is currently full.

So you want to move the iPhoto Library?
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • My iPhoto library is gone

My iPhoto library is gone, and I don't know where.
My system was slow, so I ran the Disc Utility and it told me the disc needed repair. I took it to an Apple Store genius bar.
The "genius" told me the disc was dying, slowly. He got me to buy a portable hard drive. Then he sent me to sit in a theatre seat and told me to copy my important data files onto it.
I copied my documents, seemingly without difficulty. I tried to copy my iPhoto library. But for some reason the most recent 10 rolls of digital "film" did not copy.
Moreover, for some reason the entire iPhoto library is now missing from my original hard drive.
The "genius" wasn't too concerned. He spent 5-10 minutes looking for my iPhoto library, and shrugged. It's a consequence of an aging disc, he said, sending me on my way.
Now I'm at home trying to find my iPhoto library on my still-functioning computer. When I try to open iPhoto, it says, "Your photo library was not found. Do you want to find your iPhoto library folder?"
Yes I do. But where could it be? The "genius" looked in the obvious places. I keep searching under User, Photos, Libraries, things like that.
Any ideas? I could really use some help here.

    Search for
    library6.iphoto
that's the main database file. Wherever that is, your Library is. Use an app like EasyFind to search the disk. It's slower than Spotlight but will search locations that Spotlight won't.

  • Changing file name to iphoto title

Hi I understand that I can export a photo from iphoto with the iphoto title but I have over 6000 pics in iphoto. Is there a way to save the iphoto title as the file name without individually exporting then importing back into iphoto? The main reason I want to have the iphoto titles for all of these pics is to save the double, sometimes triple handling involved if I am looking for the pics in other places or trying to send large numbers of photos to others and they receive them as file names not iphoto titles when i email them (or I have to keep opening them to see what they are in other areas-like the picture library for instance)? Does apeture allow you to keep a title as a file name? I often download over 100 pics at a time from my camera directly into iphoto. The thumbnails allow me to edit information including title without individually opening each pic. If I don't import from my camera directly into iphoto what other options do i have that are not going to be time consuming? thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Is there a way to save the iphoto title as the file name without individually exporting then importing back into iphoto?
No. iPhoto tracks the pics by their path on the HD and this would change the path. iPhoto will then lose the pics.
The main reason I want to have the iphoto titles for all of these pics is to save the double, sometimes triple handling involved if I am looking for the pics in other places
Anywhere you search for the pics you can search on Title, you don’t need to use Filename.
to send large numbers of photos to others and they receive them as file names not iphoto titles when i email them
If they are using any sort of Photo aware app to view them, they will see the titles.
or I have to keep opening them to see what they are in other areas-like the picture library for instance
But why would you be doing that? That’s what your Photo Manager is for.
If I don't import from my camera directly into iphoto what other options do i have that are not going to be time consuming?
Use Image Capture to move the pics from your Camera to the HD. Rename the files and then import them.
I really don’t think it’s necessary to actually rename the files. IF you can describe your workflow for searching or accessing the pics I think we might be able to suggest an alternative way to access them without or without opening iPhoto.

  • Import iPhoto Title as Aperture Version Name?

QUESTION: How do you import your iPhoto library such that the Titles you've applied in iPhoto become the Version Names in Aperture?
DETAILS: Upon import, Aperture ignores my custom iPhoto Titles ("Lunch at Summit", for example) and replaces them with the original file name (DSCF2966, for example). I hate looking at a screen full of DSCxxxxx names. Worse, I've spent a lot of time titling my pictures in iPhoto. I don't want to lose that work.
BACKGROUND: In iPhoto, I typically Batch Change a just-imported set of photos, setting the Title to nothing. Then I give meaningful names to pictures that I care about titling. This way, I reduce visual clutter on the photo display; any title text I see is there because I typed it in. When I try this trick in Aperture, it displays "<untitled>" for any pictures I remove the camera's DSCxxxxx from.
QUESTION 2: Is it a bad idea to get rid of the camera DSCxxxx Version Names?
I've experimented with the Import settings, searched these forums, the web, and the Aperture help files, to no avail.
    Thanks!
    David Long

Kirby, thanks for your helpful response. I just experimented with the Version Name field in the iPhoto import dialog and found that setting Version Name to Version Name in the
    File-->Import-->iPhoto Library...
import dialog still does not preserve the Titles from iPhoto.
    However, using
    File-->Import-->Show iPhoto Browser...
DOES preserve the iPhoto Titles. Unfortunately, this method loses much of the Places information in the iPhoto library. I describe which Places info gets lost in this forum post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11229662#11229662
So, this leaves us with a conundrum:
-If we use the "Show iPhoto Browser..." method to import, we retain our Titles but lose our Faces and Places data.
-If we use the "Import-->iPhoto Library..." method, we retain [most of] our Places and Faces data, but completely lose our Titles from iPhoto.
Either way, we lose some of the metadata work we put into our iPhoto library.
Anybody know a solution to this problem?
    ...David

  • How can I restore iPhoto titles and captions to iPhoto JPEGs sent to, and opened in, Aperture 3?

How can I restore iPhoto titles and captions to iPhoto JPEGs sent to, and opened in, Aperture 3?

Thank you very much, Kirby.  Your suggestion was exactly what I needed.  It proved to be a big help even to my One-to-One Aperture trainer at the Naperville IL Apple store.  My slideshow text, caption, and music attributes also were carried over intact to the new Aperture 3 environment.  - A.Z.

  • HT2513 how do you get the sidebar with three months of just calendar to turn on-is this feature gone?

how do you get the sidebar with 3 months of calendars on the left?  Is this feature gone?

Im sorry but I figured it out now. I hate when you figure something out right after you do something extreme like signup for a profile here and post a question. Well to those who want the answer all in one shot there are 2 solutions for me.
    1. Make sure Safari is updated completely. You can check by clicking SAFARI> ABOUT SAFARI
Safari 5.0.5 gave me this problem but the new update is 5.1.2
2.Glims - Free ad on for Safari which enables you to view you window in COMPLETE full screen at all times, as well as maximise your window to fill all empty space (makes so you dont have to worry about accidentally clicking on your desktop which I do all the time lol). You can use this option once Glims is installed simply by clicking on
    SAFARI> Full Screen
    or
    SAFARI> Maximise Window Size
By doing Full Screen mode you can then click on the full screen capability on the website you are on

  • Leopard Terminal Features Gone

I used to be able to save my connection and window settings all together in Terminal in Tiger. I could simply double-click a saved terminal, and it would open the terminal app, make my SSH connection and display the background and other colors (which help remind me which remote machine I am on) that I had saved with that connection. Where have all these features gone? Can anyone tell me how to save a remote connection in the new Terminal?

Your Mail is not gone. The problem you are having following the upgrade to Leopard (10.5.6) from Tiger (10.4.11), is probably what has been covered by the support document at the link below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2537
If you also find any files named to include MessageSorting (which would mean you once have upgraded from a version of OSX earlier than 10.4), remove those, also, but never restore those.
To find the correct location for the Mail folder, open a Finder window, click on the icon of a house in the Sidebar (this is known often as "Home"), click on Library in that Home user directory, and then to open the Mail folder found there.

  • Just upgraded my ipad 2 software to iso7 and all my Video name titles have gone? I have 4 films on the ipad and I share about 200 films from my pc, now to watch a film I need to randomly select one to see which film it is before I play it.. This is bad!

You cannot go back to an earlier version of iOS.
If you are having Wi-Fi problems I suggest going to some location that offered free Wi-Fi. Your library or a Starbucks perhaps. Does your iPad connect there and work well?
If your iPad works well there you can eliminate the iPad and it's iOS as the cause of your problem.
If your iPad still acts up when connecting to the other Wi-Fi sources I'd suggest a visit to an Apple store to help discover the problem. Be sure to make an appointment prior to going to the Apple store.

  • IPhoto title bar lameness

So, I checked my system prefs and made sure that the "Minimize when double clicking a window title bar" checkbox was turned on in the Appearance Panel. It is. But, iPhoto, in all it's iLife 08 glory, refuses to minimize when clicking the title bar. How can Apple be so lame sometimes? I mean, it's a standard UI feature and their own app doesn't behave? Come on. Seriously. I am about to bust a testicle over this.

That "fixed" it. Going into the system prefs, unchecking the box, then rechecking it fixed it.
When I got this new iMac, I did a firewire transfer from an existing account on my older iMac. This probably has something to do with it not working initially, and resetting the preference fixed it. If so, that's a pretty obscure bug, and I'll spare Apple the busted testicle over something so trivial

  • Titles features. Missing features?

OK, there is enough complaining about iMovie '09 and comparisons to iMovie '06. I 'm not gonna complain. It will be boring for everyone.
However I have a question, actually two.
Please refer me to an existing topic if such could be found.
    So here we go...
In iMovie '06 you could choose a title style, type upper line in a Upper Case in its own font, then a lower line in its own font and in a lower case, then you could make that lower line to "fade in" using your custom time setting in Inspector Window.
Is it possible in iMovie '09?
Or this feature is way too professional and costs $199.00 (FCE 4.0)?
    Thank you!
    :: Iggio::

    sorry about my last post..
The font changes can be done. Just drag the title you want to where you want it. Then choose the background. Then, in the upper right window, chose "Show Fonts" and you can change the fonts at will. You can also extend the time of the title, but not as much granular control over fading direction etc as in IM_HD

  • IPhoto titles lost in conversion to Photos

The conversion to Photos seem to have gone rather well in my case, except that about 25% (roughly 6,000 images) of my photos lost their titles in the process. Anyone else experienced this?
Or better yet, a solution beyond copying and pasting every missing title from iPhoto?

    Hi, Léonie,
The titles were not the original file names, I have very diligently given all of my photos "proper" titles (so the file names are typically IMG_xxxxx). I have double-checked a number of the affected photos, and the "proper" title shows up fine i iPhoto. For the 75% of the rest of the library, the titles were carried over to Photos (and show when I choose the title metadata to be displayed).
I look at the thread with the automator workflow, and it seems that would have worked nicely if my titles also were file names... When that is not the case, I might have some days work ahead of my copying and pasting manually?

  • Facebook Photo Caption = iPhoto Title

When you change the caption in your iPhoto-uploaded FaceBook photos, it changes the "title" of your photo inside of iPhoto.
It would be nice for this NOT to happen. I usually like to write long captions for my photos in facebook, and I would really not like these to change my "titles" in iPhoto, making them really long! Also, I like to keep the photo in sequential order with the rest of the albums (DSC0001, DSC0002, etc).
Was just throwing this idea out and seeing if anyone else had an issue with this as well

Seriously! I just got the "face recognition" feature to sync up with my facebook tags. Everything looks to make uploading pics a lot easier... But unfortunately, I was bummed to find out that the new iPhoto'09 facebook uploader does not read the captions from each photo and put them on facebook. The only way to do it is to change the "Title" of the picture, which is really annoying because the Titles get too long.
The Facebook-Exporter has this feature. I'm sure Apple can make it work too! APPLE please tweak this feature! We want the Facebook Uploader to sync the photo descriptions/captions.
