hello
i'm trying to sync an iPhoto album to my ipod and I getting this message: the ipod can't sync because I don't have sufficient accesss authorisation????
since when do photos need authorisation?
please help tks

That might be a damaged photo cache, sandra. See the following document for information on how to delete a photo cache:

  • Why won't iPod sync with iPhoto library on external drive?

I've run out of room for my iPhoto library on my Mini's 80 gig internal drive - especially now that the iPod cache takes up an extra 7 gig! So I've moved the iPhoto Library over to an external firewire drive - but now I'm getting the dreaded error -50. The iPod synced OK with the same iPhoto library when it was hosted locally, but now it's on an external drive it won't sync at all, even if I host the iPod Photo Cache on my internal drive and link back to it with an alias.
Is this a known problem, has anyone else had this and found a way around it? Fixing permissions, trashing preferences, etc won't work. The iPod will sync with folders on the external drive, just not with the iPhoto library.
I'm running the latest of everything (60 gig iPod Photo with firmware v1.2, Mini running 10.4.2, iPhoto 5.02, iTunes 4.9).

You have to rename your Photo Library (before deleting it, a precaution). Then launch iPhoto...it will ask you where your library is...tell it the external HD...then when everything's hunky dory, quit iPhoto, launch iTunes and try to sync with iPod.
after everything's working fine for a few times, delete gargantuan renamed Photo Library on internal drive.
I've always run iPhoto and its library from an external FireWire drive for a number of reasons.

  • IPhoto Won't Sync

iPhoto won't sync my edited photos. I checked in iTunes to sync ALl photos albums events and faces. I open iPhoto and it's there but when I open my iPod, it's not there; only the original.

    try the iPhoto forums.

  • IPod sync worries

I haven't been good about authorizing and reauthorizing computers over the years. My daughter has her iPod that is partially synced to this and that computer. She has dropped music on it from iTune Libraries I have had, but we have a problem now because of my laziness essentially.
My old laptop died. We moved out of the country, I have a new mba for work that they allow me to use as my primary computer for iTunes as well.
My daughter has an iPod full of misc music, but no primary library to sync from. For fear of losing all of her music she hasn't synced in a long time. Now on my new computer I have music I have downloaded that she wants.
At her tender age of 14, if we sync and it states that it has to wipe the iPod because its not the proper Library would be devastating to her.
How do I manage this now? Without being the terrible dad that lost all of her music?
Do I need something besides iTunes now just to by pass this library issue?
    Thanks in advance.

Since I have this under iPod sync, I might as well have this tossed in as well.
My daughter grabbed a bunch of photos from my old iPhoto Library and put it on her iPod before we moved out of the states and before my old powerbook crapped out.
She synced her myriad of selfies, friends selfies, and such to a new iPhoto Library but this one folder isn't seen. It shows on her iPod, but iPhoto says there are no new image to sync, but we see them in her photos app on her iPod but this is curious.
Why would this happen and how can we get them into the new iPhoto so that we have a back up.
    Thanks.

  • Restoring album names to iPhoto from iPod along with photos

Ok, I know that I can restore photos to iPhoto from my iPod. The question is, will the album designations import with them? The iPod has a file called "Photo Database" which I think may contain these designations but iPhoto uses a different file type to store that data. Is there a way (perhaps a 3rd party solution) to extract the album designation info from that iPod file?
    Thanks.

I used the autosych feature in iTunes. So, I don't have a complete backup of all the iPhoto library files but I did make sure to sych full res photos in addition to thumbnails. I don't mind losing stuff like keywords or titles as I didn't use either much at all. I'm not sure if auto-synching to the iPod updates photos that have been retouched in iPhoto since last sync, but if it doesn't it's no big deal since I only ever used red-eye redux and that was only now and then.
So, my iPod has all full-size photos in its "Full Resolution" sub-folder of the iPod's "Photos" folder along with the "Photo Database" file. Of course, the thumbnails are there in the "Thumbs" sub-folder but I doubt I need to bother with those since I have the full-size ones.

  • Help: Capturing photos from camera while iPod sync

    Big problem...
I started my canon sd600 camera to start capturing 90 pictures from my wife's birthay, but I was also sincronizing my ipod and both libraries are in an external LaCie drive.
Immediately after I turned on camera, the iPod Sync failed and also all pictures within iPhoto dissapeared... they were showing an admiration mark... I could only see the pictures just imported from the camera...
The only way I was able to see all pictures was to quit iPhoto and choose again the library. However, when I did this... there were NO pictures just captured!!!!!
Sadly I selected to delete the pictures in my camera after downloading them... Now I lost 90 pictures...
I believe they have to be somewhere since they were effectively captured... just need help to find them!
Can anyone of you friends help me?

Do a search on Macupdate using 'recover photos' and you'll get a lot of suggestions for Software that will recover the photos from your card.

Bought 5 new songs on itunes . ipod syncs but the new songs don't show up on the play list that is on the ipod . the do appear on itunes library. what am i doing wrong ?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

I had my ipod synced to an old computer that I no longer have how can i get all my stuff on the new itunes without erasing it

    Most Windows users don't.
Purchase an external hard drive and use the backup software that comes with it to backup files from your computer.
Buy TouchCopy and install it on your new computer, connect your old iPod and transfer your songs to your computer.

How many different computers can I sync my iPod with?  My laptop crashed and was completely wiped clean and this was the machine that my iPod synced with so I don't know if it will be counted as a "new" computer when I sync my iPod.

You can sync with onee at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • Ipod syncing problems...?

Im having several ipod syncing problems. I have an Ipod touch, 4th gen with the standard USB cable that comes with to charge it and sync it with. Today, i plugged it into my computer like normal to sync some new songs onto it from itunes. But, it started acting up. First, it kept syncing on and off, and the sync sound wouldnt stop- it wouldnt stay synced. then, later, when it finally did, not long after it said "this device does not support charging," and itunes didnt recognize my ipod anymore, so i couldnt sync my songs. is there any way i can fix this? thanks in advance.

    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
