Iphoto to ipod......

I am interested in purchasing a 160 gig ipod, for music, and also photos. I would like to "dump" the photos out of my laptop hard drive and on to the ipod, and be able to retrieve them through iphoto. How difficult would that be? I really dont care about syncing the photos, just mainly to use the ipod as an external hard drive. Figure I would get more "bang for my buck" getting an ipod vs just a regular ext. hard drive, since I can use it for it's intended purpose(music/itunes) One more thing, has anyone tried to transfer files from their camera to the ipod? thanks in advance!

Storing content on your iPod and nowhere else is an extremely risky option because when (_*and not if*_) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all that content would be erased. If you no longer have it in iTunes or on the computer (or any other back up), then it would all be lost.
Currently, there is no camera adaptor for the iPod Classic which would allow you transfer photos directly from a camera to the iPod.

  • IPhoto for iPod Touch

Is it possible to get iphoto for ipod touch because whenever i try to access it on the app store, it never allows me to even view the app. Does anyone know how to fix this?!

iPhoto is only for iPad 2 or later and iPhone 4 or later. Not compatible with any iPods.

  • Problems downloading photos from iPhoto to iPod 5G classic

Until recently I had no problems downloading my photo library to my iPod (~250 photos). However, the last couple of groups of photos I've gotten I cannot transfer. I get an error message that reads "The iPod cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." My last 3 rolls do not transfer to the iPod, although all the other photos do as well as all songs, movies, calendars, etc. Everything else is OK just the last 3 photo rolls. 2 of the 3 problem rolls were gathered from emails, but so were others that load fine. The last roll was downloaded from the BART website and will not transfer.
Anybody know what's up with this?

    Thanks again TD
I will check on the formating when I get home, I am pretty sure that I haven't used any no-ascii characters, but will double check.
Before I download iphoto library manager, I just wanted to report an interesting experiment that I tried last night that may point in a different direction:
I keep my iphoto library on a second internal HD, so I thought I would just try making a complete copy of my iphoto library onto my desktop. Once I did this, I started up iPhoto with alt and choose the desktop version of the library and all worked perfectly, my iphoto albums showed instantly in my photo tab in itunes when I selected to sync with iphoto.
My next move was to rename my old library and then copy my desktop version into the folder where the old library is. Once I did this the problem was back again.
I have no reason to believe that it is the second disc that is causing the problem, as that is where I have always kept my itunes and iphoto libraries and they have worked without problem.
(As I am writing this, it dawned upon me that I missed one important test, I should have tried the old library after I had renamed it, but stil in the same place.)
I am now suspecting that the problem may be linked to an external drive that I addded to the system at Christmas. This was a WD My Book which I use for backup, the link being that I use the software that came with it to do autobackups that includes my iphoto library folder. I am wondering if this software does something to the folder.
    Thoughts welcome.

  • Photos missing when syncing from iPhoto to iPod touch 3G

OK, I'm trying to upload photos from iPhoto to my G3 iPod Touch. They're in a specific album within a folder. There are 84 pictures in the album, but only 32 are uploading. Anyone know why?

Nope, not by a long shot.
Actually, I figured it out... I separated the photos by which uploaded & which didn't... and discovered the photos need to have their extension showing! Whew! It took a lot of work to fix the mistake, but I've got it all sorted out now.

  • Can't get photos from iPhoto to iPod

My iPod software won't recognize my iPhoto library so I can't synch pictures. When I select the iPod Option to synchronize photos from iPhoto and do an iPod update, it doesn't transfer and photos from iPhoto and in fact it unchecks the synchronize photos option in the iPod software. I'm using a 60GB video iPod w/the current iPod software, iTunes 6.0.1, iPhoto 5.0.4 on an iMac G5, running OS X 10.4.3.

create a special Album in iPhoto for the Nano and place those photos in it you want on the iPod.
connect the Nano to the Mac and when mounted in iTunes open iTunes' preferences and go to the iPod Photos section - Figure 1.
scroll down till you see the album and select it. If you don't want the full sized image files to be copied to the Nano do not select the Include full-resolution photos box.
close the preferences and when the syncing is completed dismount the Nano and then disconnect from the Mac.

  • Cannot copy photos from iPhoto to iPod Nano

    Hello all,
This is my first post so please be gentle!
I have just purchased a new Nano. Everything works fine and dandy apart from viewing photos.
I have set up the Nano via iTunes to copy (sync) all photos. iTunes then optimises the photos and states it has copied them to the Nano. When I view them on the Nano they are not there. I have changed the amount I copy (sync?) from one folder to the whole lot with no effect.
    Am I doing anything wrong.
How much free space do I need in the first place?
What size does iTunes reduce the photos to?
    Please help me!

I'm not sure what's going on, but something you might want to try is to make an album in iPhoto with only three or four photos, and then set the iPod to only sync with that album. That should at least let you know if the feature works, and then you can play with sizes, etc. Also, you might want to make sure you have installed any available updates for your iPhoto, just to play it safe.

  • Transferring photos from iPhoto to iPod

I have photos in iPhoto on my MacBook that i would like to transfer to my iPod Touch (3rd generation). Is there any way of doing this and if so, how?

Attach your iPod to the Computer, open iTunes, click on your iPod and on the right side you could configure which albums, photos etc should be transferred to the iPod.

  • Adding photos from iphoto to ipod nano 6th generation

I want to take photos from iphoto (mac os x 10.6.8) and put them on my ipod nano 6th generation.  I can't find anything on itunes that mentions photos and my ipod doesn't show up in iphoto or applications.

Thanks. I followed through with those instructions. Now when I go to sync, I don't want everybody else's music to show up on my ipod.  How do I sync? And if I check sync only checked songs, will it sync ALL checked songs? We have alot of songs, but I don't want all of them.  How can I manually sync?
    Thanks!

  • Photos from iPhoto to iPod problem

I received my iPod Classic Black 160Gb and everything is fine with Cover Flow (exempt that I have double pictures of two or three albums) and Games, Podcasts, Video
are working. But I can't sinc my iPhoto Library (6000 photos) with iPod, because it shows only about 2000 in the iTunes (for example in the Family album I have about 2000 photos in iPhoto and only 400 in iTunes sinc) How to make them all to show up?

I'm having the same problem with my 4GB Nano 2G, but I haven't had any luck finding a solution as of yet.

  • Problems syncing photos from iphoto to ipod via itunes

I have been having some difficulty getting my itunes to sync iphoto contents to my ipod. This worked fine for ages, but has just stopped working. I can sync photos from a standalone folder. Following a discussion on the ipod forum (for full details see: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1872524&start=0&tstart=0 ) we have established it is something in the iphoto library that is causing the problem. A new library works fine, but switch back and itunes does not recognise it. I am hoping that someone here can help me identify what could be causing the problem.
    Any thoughts welcome.

ps I have also posted this in the iphoto forum, see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1876616

Resetting your iPod puts the iPod's software in factor default. It doesn't erase anything. Restoring the iPod erases your iPod's content and puts a fresh copy of the OS on it. Restoring is a more extreme way to solve a problem. Use restore if a reset doesn't work. If a restore doesn't work, then its not likely that a reset would help. Sorry for the late reply, I was busy with classes. Cheers mate.

  • Two Accounts sharing iPhoto library - iPod access rights error solution

I followed the advice given in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198 to share a single iPhoto library on an external drive between two users. It worked well.
...until both my wife and I tried to connect iPods while in our individual logins and attempted to sync photos from an album in iPhoto.
Mine worked, but my wife's responded with, "The iPod "name" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
    Having seen this thread;
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4872555&#4872555
I realized that the iPod iPhoto cache, made visible by right-clicking the iPhoto Library and Showing Package Contents, was specific to my iTunes library and not my wife's. I could sync photos, but my wife could not.
I copied the iPhoto cache to a folder with my name on it, deleted the iPod iPhoto cache, and started iTunes under my wife's login. After setting the album she wanted to import, her photos synced without error.
Then I copied the iPod iPhoto cache to a folder with my wife's name.
I leave set to work for her and then I swap out her iPod iPhoto Cache and copy in my when I want to add new photos. In the meantime I deselect iPhoto sync in my iTunes until such time as I want to alter the image collection on my iPod.
I tried to make an animator script, but didn't have much success with the cache being package content.

I copied the iPhoto cache to a folder with my name on it, deleted the iPod iPhoto cache, and started iTunes under my wife's login. After setting the album she wanted to import, her photos synced without error.

  • Video's from iphoto to ipod

Maybe this isn't the right place to start, but I will try here. I have rebel T1i camera and shoot some video usually at 720. The rebel shoots at 3.7 MB/sec (720P). Now, from what i understand this isn't compatiable with itunes for the ipod. Kind ***** so I was wondering what is the best way to convert these files for itunes. Or what do most people do. I have an ipod touch 3G. Thanks for any advice. I was following a post on http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1073739 but no one really answered the guys question so I figured I would try on the one place where things usually get answered. Thanks
    Nat

Ya I saw that but I just figured there was some what people maybe do it with iphoto and itunes but I guess maybe that is it. Kinda *****. These files are probaby just borderline to play on the ipod. Hey to use extra space and store files in extra spots just for that but I guess that is all a guy can do. Thank for the reply

  • Transfer movies from Iphoto to ipod

    Dear all:
I made some movies with my camera (Panasonic) and I transfered it in iphoto. First iphoto always creates a JPG copy of my video and also I can not read it in the diaporama. Secondly when I transfer the pic on my ipod it does not take into account the video. So finally, I can not read the movies made with my camera on my ipod?
I hope that you can help me!!!

You need to import those videos into iTunes first. It's iTunes that controls all imports to the iPod.
