IPhoto unavailable to applications through Media browser

The media browser worked fine until recently when iPhoto was no longer available in the Media window in all iLife and iWorks applications and System Preferences where I used it in my screen save. I have used two suggestions: removing com.apple.iapps.plist and other related files from my preferences folder, and repaired the permissions using "Disk Utility". The Media Browser show my iTunes files, just not iPhoto.
Any ideas?

Does iPhoto find the library? Even if it does, it might be worth "telling" it again. Hold down the Option key while launching iPhoto & select "Choose Library" in the window that opens. Quit iPhoto & Pages & relaunch Pages & see if it can find the library now.
Some other simple maintenance tasks like repairing permissions & deleting caches, even just restarting your Mac, may help.

  • FCP 10.1 no longer links to iPhoto through media browser how can I relink.

Since Maverick and FCP 10.1 upgrades the media browser in FCP does not recognise iPhoto, it does recognise my iTunes, but not the SFX and foley that were previously visable from fcp and from iMovie/iLife in the media browser. How can I get the media browser to link to these again.
    many thanks

thank you I've tried that, iPhoto works fine it just is not visable in FCP's media browser (it is visable in keynote and pages).
very frustrating as having the pictures there saved a couple of processes now I have to reveal in finder from IPhoto then find that folder through usual import into event. worse is how or why sfx disapeared yet files are there if I search in finder and iTunes is stiill visable in Media in FCP?!

  • Problems finding movie in iDVD after sharing through Media Browser

I created an iMovie in the '08 version and am now trying to burn to a DVD. I have followed the tutorial for rendering the project through the Share-Media Browser option, but when I open the iDVD application, I cannot find my movie under "Movies". It's listed, but grayed out.
Does anyone know what I may have done wrong?
    Thanks.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with how I created the file originally. I could be missing something very obvious here.
If you shared your iMovie '08 project to the "Media Browser" (or published to the Gallery), the file creation should have been automatic and supposedly foolproof to specific settings. However, just to be sure, have you tried opening the "Project" package at the finder level to play the movie in the QT Player and examine its statistics to ensure they are what they should be? It might give some clue as to why the file is "unavailable" in iDVD.

  • IPhoto not showing up in media browser

My iPhoto files are not showing up in my media browser in iWeb. Any suggestions?

Alright, I solved this problem at least for myself. Hopefully this works for all of you guys.
(Note: Quite all iLife and iWork applications before doing this)
Step 1. Download and install Pacifist http://www.charlessoft.com/
Step 2. Insert Snow Leopard Disc
    Step 3. Run Pacifist
Step 4. Click "Open Apple Install Discs"
Step 5. Select Install Disc in Pop Up Dialog and select "Choose" (it can take a couple of minutes for the disc to load)
Step 6. In the search field at the top of the window type "mediabrowser" (no space) and the second result should be a folder. When you select it it should show that the file path is Library>Application Support>iLifeMediaBrowser
Step 7. Select the iLifeMediaBrowser folder and click the "install" button in the top left of the window
Step 8. Click "Install" in the pop up dialog then input your password in the next window and hit ok
Step 9. Enjoy your media browser being up and running again
If there is a dialog that says something about possible file damage or something to that effect, just hit continue. You'll be a o.k. and up in running again.
I hope this helps any of you!

  • Can't publish iMovie project through Media Browser

I have a project in iMovie that I share in Media Browser, goes through the whole process (4 hours) then I get an error message "unable to prepare project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred." This has happened twice, error code 50 the first time, then error code 34. I can't find any documentation of what these error codes mean. I have an iMovie project I want to burn onto DVD, so am wanting to access it through iDVD. Any help is appreciated!

Never mind. I finally found another discussion that addressed this problem. Thanks for looking!

  • Iphoto in pages/keynote/iweb media browser

Hi, I recently deleted and created a new iphoto library. After doing so, iweb, Pages, and Keynote is giving the endless spinning beach ball when I try to access the "photo" portion of the media browser. iDVD and iMovie continues to work fine.
All software have been updated. I've already repaired permissions, trashed the aforementioned programs com.apple.~plists. I've posted this in the iPhoto forum because I believe my problem is related to the deletion/creation of the iphoto library. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

After posting, I did a little more searching and found an answer. It sounds strange but it seems that by having certain types of movies in the Movie folder will cause the media browser to crash. When I deleted my old iPhoto library, I moved my digicam movie files from iphoto to my Movie folder, and apparently that was the culprit.

  • Toast 7.1 Media Browser-iPhotos Will Not Show

Since purchasing Toast 7.1 none of my iPhotos will show in the Media Browser. My iMovies, iMusic and DVD do show. Ran Disk Warrior and TechTool—no problems. My iPhoto library is located in the correct location—user/Pictures/iPhoto library.
I did a quick look at conflicts and didn't see any.
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • IWeb 09, Pages 09, and Keynote 09 can't load iPhoto images in media browser

Ever since yesterday, my iWeb 09, Pages 09, and Keynote 09 have been experiencing problems loading iPhoto 09 images in the media browser. I have no problems loading my audio files, movie files, and widgets, but when it comes to iPhoto picture files, the system just hangs. Luckily, it doesn't crash; it just says "Loading iPhoto images" forever.
I'm guessing that the problem is with iPhoto 09, because the media browser has no problems loading my Aperture picture files.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get iWeb, Pages, and Keynote to load my iPhoto pics in the media browser?
    Thanks!

    1. Quit iPhoto.
    2. Go to your Pictures Folder (or where ever you have your Library) and find the iPhoto Library there (Your Donor Library).
    3. Right Click on it, and from the resulting menu select ‘Show Package Contents’. A Finder window will open and the Library will be exposed.
    4. Find the following files
    AlbumData.xml
    AlbumData2.xml
and move them to the desktop.
    5. Close up the Library and restart iPhoto. This will force iPhoto to rebuild those files which are key to sharing.
Then restart the other apps and see does that help.
By the way: where is your Library? On the Start Up Disk? On an external?

  • Moved iPhoto library - how do I re-direct the media browser?

I've moved my iPhoto library to an external disk - how do I re-direct the iWeb media browser so that it looks in the right place (external drive) rather than still looking in the original location?
    Thanks!

I remember someone else trying this...moving their iPhoto library to an external drive. It works fine for iPhoto but not for the Media Browser, unfortunately. I think this person tried to create aliases and some other workarounds. But to no avail. You are probably better off not using the Media Browser anyway and instead exporting from iPhoto so that you can scale down your photos BEFORE using them in iWeb. This would avoid some issues with iWeb keeping HUGE copies of your images in the Domain file and in some cases (RSS blog/podcast) even uploading the HUGE files.

  • Cannot access Siebel application through browser

    Hi,
We have installed Siebel demo quickstart SIA 8.1.1 in one laptop. The Siebel application works fine. The only problem is that we cannot access the Siebel application through a browser. We have to launch the Siebel application from Windows program menu.We need to set up the Siebel application so that we can access it through IE browser. There are some settings that need to be set up in the .cfg files to make the application available trough Internet Explorer.
We have already tried using the url http://servername:8081/callcenter_enu/start.swe? But it returns "page cannot be displayed". We are accessing the application from the host computer.

Are you able to connect with dedicate client?
if yes, then you just to need to verify setting/configuration for web server. Which can be found in installation guide.
Also could you please share logs. Error you are getting is quite generic and have multiple symptoms.
Have you tried to search on Oracle Support. There is complete article available for this error.

  • Media Browser in iWeb not showing Photos

    Hi
I have read through many of the threads on here from people who seem to have the same problem and tried many of the suggestions, but still do not seem to have improved matters.
I have the message saying that I need to open iPhoto 2 or later. I am running iPhoto 6 and iWeb 1.1.2. I have an iBook G4 with 1GB Ram.
I know it is nothing to do with the little dot and I have also tried deleting various preference files.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

I am having the same problem in Pages 2, Keynote 3, iWeb, iDVD, iMovie ....etc.
iTunes and iMovie's material will show in the Media Browser in all the above apps. But iPhoto will not. If I move the iPhoto Library to my desktop and open iPhoto it will ask me to build a new library. I do, and in all the above apps I can see iPhoto and the library tree. If I grad some of the picture in the Originals folder on my desktop and put it into the new iPhoto library, it imports them just fine and then I open Pages 2 (Media Browser and there is the iPhoto tree.
Sounds like a solution right? Nope!
When I got back and import the rest of the photos from the Original folder on my desktop the Media Browser "loses" or drops the tree and I am left with the Message, "Open iPhoto 2......"
I then deleted the new iPhoto library, keeping my Originals on the desktop and created yet another blank library, opened Pages 2 or Keynote 3 and again I can see the iPhoto tree.
I went to my desktop and put one folder at a time into the new library via iPhoto, then open up Pages 2 (Media Browser) and I can see the tree. YEAH! Then I went an put another folder from the desktop into iPhoto and the tree in Media Browser goes away.
I have found no reason or particular file to be causing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a Media Broswer error or iPhoto? iWeb?
    Notes:
I ran the test each time by completely opening and closing Pages and iPhoto. I am running iPhoto 6.0.6 and Pages 2.0.2

  • Object into media browser

I edited a jpg file from iPhoto with Pages (It's my company logo and I added an alpha channel to make the background transparent). Now I'd like to get the object back into iPhoto or at least the media browser so I can easily use it in Pages, Numbers or Keynote. Is there a way to do this?

    Hello,
click on the image in your "Pages" document an hit "command"+"c" (or go to the "Edit"-menu and select "Copy"). Now start the application "Preview" (its in your application folder). When "Preview" has started, go to its "File"-menu an select "New from Clipboard". The copied image should now be pasted to "Preview". Now save Your image in Format that has alpha-channel support (.pdf or .png for example) and import it to iPhoto.

  • Slow Media Browser to Aperture library

    Hi All,
I'm just after migrating my entire iPhoto library over to Aperture (reference). Libraries are identical - exactly same number of pictures, events (projects), faces etc. Some about 25k pictures each.
What i noticed however is, that when I use Media Browser (browsing for image in Safari or other programs), loading of media under "Aperture" is significantly slower than iPhoto.
I can easily browse iPhoto resources shortly after opening Media browser, but it takes good 20 - 30 seconds, before Aperture resources are available for browsing.
Any ideas on speeding this up?? Why would it be so much slower?
Thanks in advance for any clues.

It was broken in a recent Aperture update, and then fixed. The issue then was manually correctable by making certain all images had proper date metadata.
I don't why it is now slow -- there may be some need for it to go find the last Aperture Library opened by A3, as only one will be shown in the media browser, even though Aperture can be used with several different ones. It is the last one opened by A3 that will be presented, I believe.

  • IPhoto doesn't show up in iMovie media browser

I have the fully installed iLife 06, and when I am in iMovie and go to the media browser to pick an image, nothing shows up to populate the browser. It seems as if the browser is not seeing iPhoto. I have tried this with iPhoto open and closed. No difference. I have thrown out the iLife media browser plist. Still no luck. Threw out the iPhoto plist. No luck. Repaired permissions and restarted. Stilll no luck. Coincidentally, the mark/space photo conduit for my in The Missing Sync cannot see iPhoto also. It's as if other programs have no clue that iPhoto is installed. Anybody have this happen? What's the fix?

    SGMS,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You are right. That example describes the keyword information from the AlbumData.xml file, not the keyword list in iPhoto.
In the iPhoto keyword list, click on your first keyword to select it. Then use the down arrow key to highlight each keyword in succession. If you come across a blank space in the list that becomes selected, click on the - symbol below the list to delete it. I have seen several reports of a blank keyword causing the problem. Another easy check is to click on a keyword, then click Rename to highlight it. If you see a blank space before or after the keyword, delete the space.
If that's not it, I'll explain further. Dave E's instructions are for how to read the AlbumData.xml file to help identify if you have a faulty keyword. The xml file is just inside your iPhoto Library Folder. You have to access it through the Finder. (Be warned not to change anything you find from the Finder, though.) Right-click (control-click) on the AlbumData.xml file. Choose Open with > Other... then navigate to the Application Text Edit. When it opens, type Command F (Find) and in the Find box enter "List of keywords". The document will scroll down to show you the text where the keyword information is listed. This is where it looks like the description by Dave E. If you see 2 keywords lumped together, then you close the xml file, go back to the keyword list in iPhoto Preferences, and edit or delete the words that did not have the same format as the others.

  • ITunes & iPhoto on external drive not showing in Media Browser

I moved my iTunes and iPhoto libraries to a NAS device on separate hard drives.  Independently they work and I can access them through their respective programs, HOWEVER, when I want to use them in Keynote, Pages, iMovie, etc. they don't show up in the media browser.  I have a couple of questions...
    1. Will the media browser work with these libraries on external sources?
    2. Do I need to set up some sort of alias on my Mac HD to point the media browser to those libraries?
    3. If so...how?
Hoping someone has the answer, or at least can point me in the right direction...

I am not sure if they will work off a NAS, but I don't see why not. (But iMovie Events will not work off a NAS)
See this post and focus in on the part about trashing the iApps plist. I would try to trash it and then open up iPhoto and iTunes to repopuplate it. Then try to see if the Media Browser works in iMovie. You should not need to trash the iMovie plist, but it would do no harm if you did.
