Iphoto Unexpectdly Quits ALWAYS

No matter what I've tried, every time I attempt to load from my FujiFilm FinePiz X1 photos onto the iphoto application it "unexpectedly quits." I have submitted over 5 reports to Apple and no progress has been made. I have over 200 photos on my camera ready to be loaded and I am soon to run out of memory. Please help is my camera not compatiable? Do I have a bad application of iphoto?
Any ideas? It's driving me crazy.
I have checked other post but I do not see anythig similar I have looked at Seanus response along with others but nothing is working. I do not know where the Video Desktop is of a Decklink control panel to turn it 'off.'

AskAboutMe...:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As a workaround
launch Image Capture, in the Applications folder, and
manually upload to a folder on the desktop. You can
then import the photos from there if possible and
clear your memory card. You can set Image Captures
preferences to determine which application, if any,
to open when a camera is attached.
Were you ever able to import directly into iPhoto
with your camera? The Apple site Mac OS X Digital Camera Support does not list
the X1 as compatible. If you can't get it to work
you can always get a card reader and upload that way.
In fact that's my preferred method as it gives me
more control over the process and saves on the
camera's battery, USB port, etc.

As I have been feverishly trying to find ways to store my photos on the application. I have come across that source of importing, imagecapture! However, when I am on my friends ibook it is without hesitation that the application ask to import my photo's. I find that a bit peculiar! What is this other device you are referring to of a card reader...Will this allow me to use my iphoto please explain. I apologize for the lack of computer savy skills that I possess I am learning and I appreciate your response.

  • IPhoto unexpectedly quits ALWAYS

I've been using iPhoto 4.0.3 with fairly few complaints until recently. I got a new camera and tried loading photos into iPhoto, and the program kept quitting unexpectedly. Then, I tried using my old camera and the same thing happened. Now, even opening the program to look through all of my old photos gets the same result.
I looked into upgrading, but would need to upgrade my system, too (I think?). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't say how many photos were in your library. but a typical rebuild should complete in minutes, not hours.
Go ahead and quit (or force quit) iPhoto. In a Finder view, go to your user's Pictures folder. If you see more than one iPhoto Library folder in there, drag the one with the most recent date to the trash (the folder name probably ends in a number). Drag the original iPhoto Library folder temporarily to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and choose "Create New..." from the resulting dialog. Once you see the empty iPhoto window, quit iPhoto. Back in a Finder view, drag your original iPhoto Library folder from the desktop, and drop it inside the newly created iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder. Don't replace; you want the old iPhoto Library folder inside the new iPhoto Library folder.
Now start iPhoto again while holding the shift+option keys to rebuild your photo library. This process wil recover your photos, but will not preserve any albums you mght have created earlier; keywords and roll associations will likely be gone, as well, but those can be recreated.

  • IPhoto '11 Quits Unexpectedly and Will Not Open!

    Hello Gang!
I recently had a bit of a hard drive issue and had to get a new one.  In doing so, I now have to reinstall all my software.  I was able to move my settings and files over but not the applications.  I've reinstalled iLife '11 and and trying to get iPhoto to open and it will not.  I click on it... the window appears, spins for about 20-30 seconds and quits with the "iPhoto has quit unexpectedly" dialog.
I thought it was my library (maybe corrupt...) so I tried holding down the keys to force a new library...  iPhoto creates the file then quits.  I tried rebuilding my photo library... iPhoto seems to do it.. then quits.
I've deleted iPhoto, killed the preference files and the Support files... reinstalled... still quits.
I thought.... maybe it's ME.  I created a new user, uninstalled iPhoto (cleared pkg files, preferences, support files), reinstalled... fired it up under the new user and... it quits!
The only thing I have not tried is moving my library to another computer and opening it there... but that seems pointless since I can't get iPhoto to open with a blank, pretty new database...
    I'm at my wits end!
    Here are my specs:
    13" MacBook Pro 4GB RAM
    OS X 10.7.3
    iPhoto 9.2.1

and my computer opened iPhoto as it always does. It obviously recognized the device, but the iPod sis not appear in iTunes and I therefore could not sync it. Is there some setting I may have accidentally turned off?
Also, today, there seems to be no sound coming through either my internal speakers or my headphones, and not just in iTunes. I doubt these two problems are related, but perhaps there is something beyond coincidence and an old computer?

but the iPod sis not appear in iTunes and I therefore could not sync it.
Try reinstalling the AMDS >  iTunes: How to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service on Mac OS X
there seems to be no sound coming through either my internal speakers or my headphones, and not just in iTunes
For sound issues check System Preferences > Sound
Make sure the Mute button is not selected.

  • Iphoto keeps quitting unexpectedly

I just bought a brand new imac. Just tried to save some pics from Photobooth and open them on iphoto but iphoto keeps quitting unexpectedly. It keeps asking me if I want to import some photos it has found when I launch it. It then quickly closes. I created another account and iphoto is fine with that account....what's wrong and how can i fix it on my original admin account? thanks

A couple of things to try
1 - quit iPhoto (sounds like that is easy ) delete the iPhoto preferences - hard drive ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iphoto.plist and restart iPhoto
2 - if that does not fix it, quit iPhoto, right click (alt click) on the iPhoto library in your pictures folder (if you have not moved it) and select Show Package Contents - drag the photos to import (not positive of the exact name) to the desktop and start iPhoto - assuming that you are ok now you can try importing the photos from the desktop folder one by one to see which one is the problem

  • My iPhoto is not working, it quit unexpecly and it shows this message- The application "iPhoto" unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows.  Do you want to try to restore its windows again?

how can i fix this problem?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • You can't open photo library using this version of iphoto. you have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. please quit and use the latest version of iphoto

you can't open photo library using this version of iphoto. you have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. please quit and use latest version of iphoto. iphoto 11 is installed.

This is a message you got?
If so, as your post isn't clear, it may be a bogus message caused by a corrupt database.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

My iPhoto keeps quitting on me about 30 seconds after I open it. Anyone know what's going on?

Kern Portection Failure is usually related to data.   Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Have tried re-building database and it crashed
Library is located on Path: /Users/New User/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Library on my Hard Disk
No updates or upgrades prior to problems
Managed or Referenced Library, my version does not appear to have this option?
I'm running a Mac Pro and my main drive of 3 hard drives has 238.24 GB of available space
The strange thing is I have 3 different logins, one for my iphone, one for my partners iphone and one for our ipad, when I back my phone up I have 3000+ photo's in iphoto and it crashes when it gets to the last 300 or so, same for my partners iphone which has 2000+ photo's, but I tried the ipad which has 600 pictures on the library and it back-up fine without crashing?
I look forward to your reply and thanks in advance for your help/reply

  • "iPhoto unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows"

When I try to open iPhoto, it says "iPhoto unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows," then gives me the option of restoring the windows or not. Whatever one I click, iPhoto opens for a second and displays a blank gray screen, then quickly closes and a notification pops up that says "iPhoto closed unexpectedly" and displays the following info. Well that's because it's a different library.
As i said above it was a test. It tells us that iPhoto is fine and that the problem is within your main Library.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • IPhoto Keeps Quits

My IPhoto keeps quiting unexpectitly. However, when I log on as another user it works fine. I have updated the software.

If that is the case, then something in your iphoto library is corrupted. Each user login has it's own iphoto library.
