Iphoto update download

After downloading an update to iphoto, iphoto won't open.  Tried to select a different identify by using option key and mouse, but it did not work.  Apparently my main identity is now there.  Now the message box that opens when I try the same procedure says to check with the developer.

I have a similar issue. My iPhoto had an update yesterday as a part of the merging of iPhoto and Aperture libraries. when opened and it said it would take between 1-2hrs that was 14hrs ago. It is stuck on update 5 of 9 at 99%. I've tried force quitting the application, restarting, shutting down and it keeps getting stuck on update 5 of 9 at 99%. It displays no errors just the update loading bar.

I have OS 10.10.1 and my iPhoto will not open. Says got to App Store for latest update. At the App Store the download process doesn't work and leads me in a circle back to App Store?? Appreciate any advice. GB

What version of iPhoto do you have installed (you can verify it b going to the applications folder and right click on the iphoto application - get info)
Try moving the iPhoto App to the trash (do not empty the trash until you have a working version of iPhoto) and go to the App store and log in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up your computer and download and install iphoto 9.6 - be sure to backup your iphoto library prior to doing this

    Hi,
I scoured the web looking everywhere for a solution to this.
    Exit Code 15
OSX 8.5 with Work@Home DVD media for CS6
I followed instructions to run 3rd party cleaner software
I tried the adobe removal tool
removing all copies of adobe software manually
installing from a new account, safe mode, plist everything suggested that i found did not work.
A colleague suggested that removing the below folder would allow the installation:
    /Library/Application Supports/Adobe
They turned out to be correct, so i am passing this on, because this took far too many hours of my time.

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account.  On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account.  If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to.  It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?
Can I have 2 apple ids?
If I created a 2nd apple id to get to NONE on credit card needed, can't I log into it also on another laptop in gmail?
    (won't let me)
If I used my original apple id I created when I got my new ipad, it will not let me get free app without credit card, there is no where it says NONE needed. I am too new to apple to start with credit cards etc until I get use to it.

  • How do I download my iPhoto update from App Store?

I have iPhoto on my iMac (it is the one that came preinstalled - it has likely had updates made to it since I had the iMac as I have had it a few years now, but I never use iPhoto so don't know which version currently.)
    I am running 10.8.2.
I have just got an iPhone and wish to download some photos, so I read on the apple site that iPhoto will automatically do so when I connect with USB.
I have gone to my iPhoto application and it won't open.  Instead a message comes up saying "You can't open the application iPhoto because it is being updated."  When I open up the App Store to see where to update it, iPhoto is listed in the lists of update apps with RESUME next to it. (Perhaps I may have tried to upload the update before...)   But I go RESUME a box pops up saying "You cannot update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."
Could someone please help.  What do I need to do to get the application to update?  (I need my photos off my iPhone to send to someone quite urgently!)
    Many thanks.

Hello, I finally went to the App Store support who rang me back and went through it.  It seems that Mountain Lion will not operate iPhoto 9.3.2, you have to have 9.4.2.  So trashed the application in my Applications folder (which has cleared my App Store of the hanging iPhoto updater) and they signposted me to the download for 9.4.2 (mind you it is taking hours to download!!)  I live in hope that this will fix it.  If it doesn't I'll let you know!

  • IPhoto Update version 6.0.6 download appears to hang

I opened iPhoto about an hour-and-a-half ago and I received a message indicating there were new updates (5 files). I indicated that the process should go forward. The files downloaded and began to install. The fourth one in the list, iPhoto Update 6.0.6 (smallest one - 7.3 MB) is currently in the process of installing, but it has been in this state (spinner spinning) for the last hour. What gives?
iMac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4)

My bad (chock it up to the fact that until last week I had never touched an iMac). I had the application open and apparently the update needs to install with the application closed. As soon as I closed the app, the installation finished - 2 decades of Windows indoctrination has numbed my senses.

  • I downloaded iPhoto update and now it doesn't work

How do I fix iPhoto after an unsuccessful update? Today I downloaded the iPhoto update from the App store. When I try to open the program it quits unexpectedly. When I try to open it again it says it has dectected inconsistencies in my library. I click "repair library database" and when it gets to 99% complete it shuts down and vanishes from my screen. I try everything all over again with the same result. It was working fine until the update. Help!

Back up your iPhoto library, depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your library

  • I can not download the last Iphoto update, and in the actual version 9.4.3 it does not work the sending photos by e-mail.

I can not download the last Iphoto update that I already purchased it by app store, and in the actual version 9.4.3 it does not work the sending photos by e-mail.

    Thanks for your replay,
Finally the Iphoto 9.5 was installed...any way ..I had to go to app store to purchase it because the previous version did not updated autimatically... only shoed me that there is a new version ...but it guided me to the app store to purchase it.... and I did it because I did not know that the up date was free...and the sistem did not adviced me about that...
I have the last up date of os x 10.9 already...
in this new version I have no problem to send the photos by e-mail... but in the previous one it allways showed me an error message like ¨I should try later because the server does not work¨  but I tryed with 4 differents e-mail account that worked perfectly in the app Mail.
any way, this new version is ok..
    thenks a lot

  • I just downloaded the lastest iphoto update and I can't find my all photos

I just downloaded the lastest iphoto update and I can't find my all photos. How do I find these photos? Where did it place them? Please advise.
    Thanks!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Cannot open iPhoto after downloading Yosemite, I am running iPhoto 6.9 and have downloaded the iPhoto upgrade 1.1 to no avail

Cannot open iPhoto after downloading Yosemite. I have upgraded to iPhoto 6.9 and have downloaded iPhoto upgrader 1.1 to no avail.

Did you go to your Applications/Utilities folder and actually double click on the updater to run it?

  • I cannot run iPhoto after update to Yosemite.  I cannot update iPhoto because the application store does not have any iPhoto update available.  Anyone can advice how to overcome this hassle?

After update to Yosemite 10.10.3 the iPhoto program icon is banned and there is an error message that an update is required to run iPhoto, but the application store shows a message that iPhoto does not have any update available at this time.  There is not even any iPhoto program available on the application store.  Any suggestion on how to solve this annoyance?

Unfortunately, Apple has removed both iPhoto and Aperture from the Mac App Store so they cannot be downloaded anymore. This means you are forced to migrate to Photos (included in OS X 10.10.3) or, if this app does not include features you need, look for a different app.
Not true. Apple has removed both Apps from App Store so you cannot buy them anymore. But if you have any of these Apps already purchased in the past, then you can still download them on your Mac.

Open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases tab. If you see iPhoto app listed there close down the App Store and do this steps as this is what worked for me:
Open Finder and go to Applications folder.
    Locate iPhoto app
Drag iPhoto app from your Applications folder to Trash (NOTE: Do not emptied Trash yet)
Open App Store app and navigate to Purchases tab.
Click on Install button which is next to the iPhoto app (on the right hand side).
Once iPhoto is downloaded again, test it if its working for you. If all is ok, you can remove your Trash.

  • Keep crashing after iPhoto update,

I have had nothing but trouble sine the latest update I have Iphoto 11. I cannot do my work and it willcrash very soon even without opening iPhoto.
I have done..as below but it has got worse. Desperate now..Thanks george Uk......before it crashes again!
Make a temporary, duplicate copy of your library and apply the three fixes in order as necessary.
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your HD/User/Home(http://oldtoad.net/Forum/Homemini.png )/ Library/Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your HD/User/Home(http://oldtoad.net/Forum/Homemini.png )/Library /Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.

    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to theFile ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

.got a grey line running from left to right, apple icon and spinning gear......this took some time as I held shift eye down
That what appears as repairs are being made to the HD and system files. Once it's done you're in safe mode. Since it crashed in safe mode the next thing to do is create a second user account, not an administrative account.  It's great for testing as it will have none of the add-ons that you have in your primary account.
If iPhoto runs OK there then you account has something that's interfering with it. Post back with the results.
If iPhoto behaves the same in the other account you should reinstall iPhoto.  To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disks it came on originally and apply any necessary updaters.

  • Losing Keychains from iPhoto Update

Since the iPhoto update yesterday, when I attempt to click on Mobile Me to upload a gallery, I get prompted to keep my current keychains or update them (nothing new). However, when I click to update them (which I usually do), I lose them ALL and I can no longer access any secure sites, including Mobile Me.
My iMac basically becomes non-functional as far as internet/email/networking/etc. Although, if I re-start my computer, my keychains return but I am once again prompted in iPhoto to update them. If I say no, it will keep asking me.
    Help???

    Andrew:
First quit iPhoto, delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again. If that doesn't jump start your MMe access give the following a try:

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.
Although it's for a Mail problem it will let you flush out the MobileMe preferences and enter your user name and password for a fresh start. See if that will help.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
