IPhoto update for Yosemite

I updated to Yosemite and iPhoto won't work till I update it.  How do I update it?  I don't see anything at Apple's website that gives me a clear way to do it.

Open the Mac App Store, click on Updates, and update it.

is Apple planning for an update for Yosemite soon that will include AirPlay feature

Found on another thread: Is iPhoto deleted by the 10.10.3 update ?
"right-click on iPhoto and show package contents, go in to Contents, and in to the MacOS folder and double click the iPhoto app from there... it launches just fine!"
    Works for me too.

  • IPHOTO UPDATES FOR 2.x

I cannot find an update for my iphoto 2.x version. I can only find updates for iphoto 4.x and 5.x. How can I upgrade my software? I thought that software update was supposed to keep my applications up to date and I have used this faithfully, but iphoto has NEVER been on the update list since I've purchassed my powerbook.

    Hi VIckie
iPhoto 2 was the last free version. iLife is included with purchases of new Macs (since around 2003/4) - in your case, you'll have to purchase iLife '05 to get the newest version of iPhoto.

  • I just downloaded the software update for Yosemite after it restarted and installed the software I have a white screen. What should I do ?o

I Just downloaded the latest software for Yosemite 10.10 after it restarted and installed the software it stopped, now I have a white screen. What should I do now?

    Hi ..
Hold down  the power button until the screen goes black.
Wait about ten seconds then restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to verify and repair the startup disk if necessary and reinstall OS X. (10.10.1)

  • Can't download iPhoto update in Yosemite

    Hi!
I just updated my laptop to Yosemite. I had a really out of date operating system before... maybe Snow Leopard? I can't remember, not sure if that's relevant. Anyway...
iPhoto has a greyed out slash out symbol over it, and it says it needs to be updated. When I go to update in the Mac App Store it says "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
Why is it saying this? How do I fix it?? Will I lose all my photos? They're all there. Can I downgrade and put the photos on an external?cent
Also I just recently made this Apple ID but I downloaded Yosemite with it. I tried logging into the Mac App store with the old Apple ID and I got the same message so I am confused. I just want my photos!
    Thank you

Perform the following, stopping with the first one which works:
    1. Open the Mac App Store's Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept them into your Apple ID, do so.
    2. Move them out of the Applications folder(they may need to be put into the Trash temporarily), and then see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If you're asked to buy them, see #3.
    3. Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
    4. Buy them.

  • IMovie won't open since i got the update for Yosemite

ever since i updated the mac book pro to Yosemite - it has been slower and also iMovie won't open at all

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

You can also try running the combo update.

  • Are there any known issues when using PSE 13 after installing Apple's recent 10.10.3 Combo update for Yosemite?

I've had Yosemite for some time and bought/installed PSE 13 afterwards.
In the last few days I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3.
As a PSE 13 novice I've been working my way through "Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 - Classroom in a Book". Working through the exercises I've found my iMac is sometimes taking longer to process the functions I'm using than prior ro the 10.10.3 upgrade. E.g., using the Healing Brush tools, Straighten Tool etc.
I've struggled with Apple's upgrade and had to re-install my machine from a previous Time Machine Backup and so I was wondering:-
Are there any known issues with PSE 13 post 10.10.3 upgrade?
Are there things I should be concerned about in the future before accepting an OS X upgrade?
    Thanks,
    Andy

No, no known issues. However it's a good idea to always delete preferences after OS X system updates.

  • Aperture 3.6 update for Yosemite is out!

    Check the software update!
    Also iPhoto 9.6.

First observations with Aperture 3.6 on Yosemite:
There is a lot of initial background processing going on each launch: face detection, preview creation, syncing with iCloud.
I don't see any changes to the graphical user interface.
My Canon EOS 5D Mk II raw files and the Lumix FZ28 DNG files are looking very different now.  The colors are more vibrant and the images are brighter; I'd even say overexposed.
The changed RAW processing is surprising, since the release notes do not mention it:   Aperture 3.6 Release notes
    Aperture 3.6 Update
Adds compatibility with OS X Yosemite.
Fixes an issue that could cause Aperture performance to slow down while browsing through images with onscreen proofing enabled.
Fixes an issue where Aperture could become unresponsive in rare cases when adding to a shared photo stream.
Fixes an issue that could cause Aperture to unexpectedly quit when using the Write IPTC Metadata to Originals feature.
Aperture no longer displays the alert, “This library has been opened with a newer version of Aperture.” when using Library First Aid with libraries previously opened in iPhoto.

  • Acrobat Updater for Yosemite from 9.0 - 9.5.5

    Hello -
Attempting to run the updater to update to version 9.5.5, when the installer gets to "Installing Update" it pops-under a modal panel for "Install Extras" and waits on a response to that panel; unfortunately i can't bring that panel to the foreground because the updater panel is top most, so i can't click on Continue to unblock the install process.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem with my new computer. There are downloadable updaters on Adobe FTP site but I coudn't sucessfully use any of them...
The way I solved the problem is that I copied the entire Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro folder from my old mac (that one was already at 9.5.5) and then replaced the recently installed folder (I believe it was 9.3.x)  on my new mac. Worked like a champ!
The other thing I noticed but didn't try is that after failed attempt to update to 9.5.5 In acrobat Pro Help menu you can hit Repair Acrobat Installation. This way it lets you uncheck the dreaded Adobe PDF viewer safari plugin and hit Continue. But I was too lazy to try and run the update again because it takes forever to download the updater.
Here's the FTP site. Maybe you will have better luck!

  • Aperture update Retail DVD for Yosemite

Hello. I have an old Aperture 3 retail DVD, never bought the programme on the app store. Now I have updated my MBP to yosemite and I am stuck with version 3.4.5 and cannot open the programme anymore on my laptop. It tells me to update to 3.4.6, which I can't since I only have the retail but no app store purchase.
Has anyone an idea how to update to the final update for yosemite? I do not want to rebuy the whole programme since it will vanish within the next two months.
    Please help!
    Best from Germany.

I had to change the region and language to US/english and restarted the machine.
    That is still going on?
I really thought that bug (Aperture update only being able to be downloaded with the region and language set to  US/English) had been fixed after the Aperture 3.5.1 update last year.   Thanks for letting us know, that this is still the solution to get the update done.
I do not want to rebuy the whole programme since it will vanish within the next two months.
Aperture may vanish from the App Store and Apple will not develope it further, but it will still be supported and remain working during the life cycle of Yosemite and probably longer. You can enjoy it, as long as you are running a compatible operating system.

  • When will Aperture update for Nikon D810?

When will Aperture update for Nikon D810?

Must have been some older pasts as Aperture is going away.
Surely they aren't jumping to Aperture now knowing this...
    Yes !
Many are opposed to the monthly subscription fees.  I recently purchased Aperture knowing it will be discontinued.  I weighed all the alternatives and Aperture still seem the best.  Apple has said it will be updated for Yosemite (if necessary). That gives it at least 3 years of usability.
Moreover, iPhoto is also being discontinued.  Because iPhoto and Aperture use the same file structure I am hoping that the new “Photos” program will be an easy transition.   My two MUST HAVE requirements is the ability to disable Faces and display Keywords under the thumbnail's.

I am having the same problem.  I even changed my password and updated all of my security information.  Now it just gives me an error and retry message, which of course also does not work.  Went to support and was going to open a chat (seemed the simpler option) and received a message that my support has expired for this serial number unless I want to pay $29.00.  So I chose the option to call later, which was the exact time suck I was trying to avoid.  Why wouldn't the new operating system also update the apps that were already part of my old platform?
