IPhoto update out now - 6.0.1

A new update is out for iPhoto 6.0.1
Seems to be OK on my iMac.
Ian

How did you import it so that it kept the album info?
I was able to create a reasonable facsimile of my
Library but lost the all album, keyword, and rating
info. Did you create the DVD by just copying the
whole Library directory?
Well, here's a step-by-step process :
1) backup your iPhoto library first
2) just in case, take note of all your keywords (check the spelling)
3) using iPhoto, burn the entire library to a blank DVD
4) when complete, the DVD is automatically ejected ; insert it back, iPhoto launches ; just QUIT iPhoto
5) using Finder, trash all your iPhoto library folder content and replace it with the 4 elements inside DVD's iPhoto library folder : iPhoto6.library, Data, Modified and Originals
6) launch iPhoto ; all databases will be rebuilt (it can some take time)
7) open iPhoto prefs, check the keywords tab, and if necessary input all your keywords back
7) et voilà ... pictures, ratings, keywords and static albums are back ; alas, you aren't done yet, since all your dynamic ("smart") albums have been imported as static ones, and you'll have to input their rules again
Pretty long, but I haven't found anything simpler. Good luck.

  • I downloaded iPhoto update and now it doesn't work

How do I fix iPhoto after an unsuccessful update? Today I downloaded the iPhoto update from the App store. When I try to open the program it quits unexpectedly. When I try to open it again it says it has dectected inconsistencies in my library. I click "repair library database" and when it gets to 99% complete it shuts down and vanishes from my screen. I try everything all over again with the same result. It was working fine until the update. Help!

Back up your iPhoto library, depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your library

  • Yesterday, I (unfortunately) said "yes" to the newest iPhoto update. Now, it won't open. Here's the

Now, there's no opening iPhoto.  The crash message follows.  Must I re-install iLife 2008 and start the updating process or is there an easy work-around? I deleted the plist in the prefs; of course, that made no difference (didn't think it would, really).

It looks like a reinstallation of iPhoto is indicated.  To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally.  If iPhoto 9 came with your computer or you bought the iLife 11 disk then use this link to download the 4 updaters and apply: iPhoto 9 Updaters

  • IPhoto updated but now I can't open iPhoto at all

iPhoto was installed on my MacBook Pro when I purchased it in Sept.(Along with iMovie, iTunes, etc.) I was having problems with editing some of the photos (it wouldn't open up in the edit screen) so I decided to update it. I downloaded the update and installed the "updater". Said the install was complete. However, now when I try to open iPhoto, it says "You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto." However, I can't find how to open the newer version. It installed it to the HD but it's not an executable file. It's just the update installer.
I am running the current version of OS. I am wondering how to get back to the original version of iPhoto that I had. Is this possible?

When you updated iPhoto what you downloaded was a bug fix patch for iPhoto 08. You cannot upgrade to a newer version (i.e. Iphoto 09) without purchasing the relevant iLife disk.
This is how you reconstruct a Library:
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Premiere CS5 update out now

I just fired up Pr and am now receiving updates for Ae Br En Fl Ai Ps and Pr.  Can't see what's in them yet.

"Maybe Adobe could throw out some packages of PrElements 9, to placate the crowds?"
    Even that won't be enough.
Now both the villagers and the natives are restless.

  • IOS 5.1 UPDATE  out now.

Just for those who don't know there is a small update iOS 5.1 ready to download now, I had no issues with it.

I've been through all the fixes, resets, direct problem-solving with ApPle support, etc., this and the other crashes are well-documented in these discussions, as are the ineffectiveness of all such interventions. It's the one big fix many of us have been hoping for but Apple refuses to publicly acknowledge the problem. And despite what I have seen posted a number of times, Apple does indeed read these discussions. Oh well, I'll just watch the posts and see what happens. I've lost trust in Apple for the first time in 20 years! Thanks for trying to help, though.

    Hi,
I scoured the web looking everywhere for a solution to this.
    Exit Code 15
OSX 8.5 with Work@Home DVD media for CS6
I followed instructions to run 3rd party cleaner software
I tried the adobe removal tool
removing all copies of adobe software manually
installing from a new account, safe mode, plist everything suggested that i found did not work.
A colleague suggested that removing the below folder would allow the installation:
    /Library/Application Supports/Adobe
They turned out to be correct, so i am passing this on, because this took far too many hours of my time.
    Cheers,
    Smokey

  • Iphoto keeps dropping out. Sometimes other programs do too such as Software Update. They other programs seem to drop randomly but iPhoto drops out constantly. Is there a solution?

iPhoto constantly keeps dropping out. Other programs do at times but iPhoto drops out constantly. Does anyone know what causes this?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.

  • I accidentally updated iPhoto on my (now) external hard drive and now it won't let me access any of my photos. What can I do?

I accidentally updated iPhoto on my (now) external hard drive and now it won't let me access any of my photos. What can I do?

So, you have two versions of iphoto? One from the old machine and one from the new?
If so, forget about opening with the older version of iPhoto.
    For the newer version:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Are you running Leopard on your Mac, Laurie?
If so, try instead updating to iTunes 10.6.3.25. (That supports earlier models of iPhones running iOS 6, even though it can't run the new iPhone 5s.)
A .dmg installer for iTunes version 10.6.3.25 for Mac OS can be found at the following download page on the Apple website:

    1. First step to solving the Problem: Trash MacKeeper. It's a pile of trash that does far more harm to your computer than good.

I'm using a Macbook Pro  Mavericks Version 10.9.5

Probably the reboot used to log into the Guest account and then your account again fixed the problem.  If often will.
