IPhoto update - Photos version 1.0

Ugh. Hate the new photos ap. Why do we need iMacs and laptops if all aps are going to be the same as on iPads and iPhones. But anyway....two quick questions. In the new photo ap, can I change the background from white? And is there a quick way to have my events as they were in iPhotos before this update? I know I can drag and move all my events but I literally have at least 100 and I don't want to spend the time reorganizing something that was done before in iPhoto. I know I can change my view to by title or by however they programed automatic as (what is that way - does anyone know??) Am I just someone who likes things the way it was, or is anyone feeling my lack of excitement over this new iPhoto ap? Its possible I am not seeing the good in it, and would love to hear what features is liked by people so maybe I can change my opinion on it. Thanks.

I'm with you. Can't do a thing with it. It's uploading all my photos (6k+) to iCloud and jamming up my bandwidth and processor/HDD, it's not importing photos from my camera, I can't see filenames any more, and it's taking forever to close down when I ask it to. What was wrong with iPhoto? Is there anything right with the new Photos? So far, so blooming rotten. Apple, don't patronise your customers, please, by dumbing apps down.

Can iPhoto update photo with position?

I have been busily placing my photos with Places. Now I have discovered that JetPhoto can do the same and with the $25 pro version, update the photo file with the location data.
Does anyone know if iPhoto can or does do the same thing? I like the idea of the location being stored in the photo rather than in a separate iPhoto file.
If iPhoto can't do this, I might start over and use JetPhoto and then import my photos again into iPhoto and then let Places find and locate them.

Sure - when you export a photo (file menu ==> export) with the proper items checked the data is exported with the photo to one file - basically I see no difference in the locate function of Jetphoto and the locate function of Places -- if you have a GPS logger then JetPhoto says it will use the track file to match up to photos - iPhoto does not do this - most users so far have been using HoudahGeo - http://www.houdah.com/houdahGeo/ - for this

Finally the Iphoto 9.5 was installed...any way ..I had to go to app store to purchase it because the previous version did not updated autimatically... only shoed me that there is a new version ...but it guided me to the app store to purchase it.... and I did it because I did not know that the up date was free...and the sistem did not adviced me about that...
I have the last up date of os x 10.9 already...
in this new version I have no problem to send the photos by e-mail... but in the previous one it allways showed me an error message like ¨I should try later because the server does not work¨ but I tryed with 4 differents e-mail account that worked perfectly in the app Mail.
any way, this new version is ok..

What were you running before you updated? 10.10.2, or an earlier version of OS X (10.9 or earlier)?
If 10.10.2, then iPhoto should still be on your machine. If not, then go to the App Store, purchased tab, and look for iPhoto, and download it (you'll need iPhoto 9.6.1 to run on Yosemite).
If you never installed iPhoto from the Mac App Store, then you should contact AppleCare, who can probably help you out. That's the only option in this case; upgrading from 10.9 or earlier straight to 10.10.3 is a bad incidence of timing.

Did you upgrade to a new MacOS X version? Then you need to update iPhoto as well.
Only iPhoto 9.6 is compatible with MacOS X 10.10 Yosemite. Update from the Mac App Store.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Check the "Updates" tab of the App Store for an iPhoto update and run the update.
When you laugh iPhoto after the update, it will warn you, that the library needs upgrading, That may take a while.
Just in case that you see a warning, that the update is not possible because of an error message: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, but do not empty the Trash, so you can put iPhoto back, if need be.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Open the main page "Featured" of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account. On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account. If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to. It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. *Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. *Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. *A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. *A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. *A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
*If none of these help*:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

IPhoto on iPhone never completes Updating Photo Library

Tried about 10 times.
After opening iPhoto, it attempts to Update Photo Library. It gets about 3/4 way done and then quits.
(I do have a LOT of photos, probably about 20,000 on my phone)
iPhone 4S 64GB, IOS 5.1

I guess I simply had to many photos.
They were all from my iPhoto library on my computer. I synced my my iPhone to my computer and deleted most of them. I can put the photos back on later.
Iphoto is working now.

Than LR should have brought in the RAW files as well. ACR is the RAW
processing engine used by LR under the covers so anything not supported by
ACR would not be supported by Lightroom.
Are you shooting RAW plus JPEG? By default, Lightroom will stack then
unless you tell it not to. Check to see if there is a small badge on the
preview that looks like two sheets of paper with a number. That is how
Lightroom indicates a stack. You can unstack them by clicking on the badge.
There is also a menu item to stack/unstack photos. Otherwise, I would have
to research but not sure why Lightroom would ignore the RAW photos but
still import the JPEGS.
