IPhoto update yosemite

Well I had a 10.7.2 don't remember which name was that. (Mini 2011 i5 8G)
I skiped all the other versions and went directly to 10.10.
The update process was smooth except with iPhoto and iMovie.
The iPhoto shows a crossed circle and when I click on it it tells that I need to upgrade to 9.6 and directs me to App Store.
Them I choose update, it downloads and it should be okay, right? After the download and install it still shows the same crossed circle. Click on it and boom, the same stuff of updating. I tried this process for 6 times now and same results. So there's a lot of bugs here:
- How can App Store allow me to update the same SW more than once?
- Were are the new iPhoto that download and installed??
Wait! It gets weirder!
I tried to delete the iPhoto App at the Applications folder. The went to the "update" again. Right, how can it show update when there is no app to update, it should show install not update...(keep following) after the " update" successfully finish, the iPhoto app is nowhere to be found.
Went then to \users\(my user)\pictures and clicked on the iPhoto Library icon... and there it is, loaded and working... went to \about and it shows iPhoto 9.5.1 (902.17)
Crazy! How can it loads an app that is supposedly incompatible with Yosemite?? Did I upgraded to Yosemite or Windows 10?? (that last one was a joke)
Didn't tried to update again after that, because it seems that there are so many glitches in this process...

You need to search your HD and/or attached disks for the multiple copies of iPhoto that you have, and remove them.

  • I just updated to Yosemite and every time i try to open iPhoto it says i need to use the iPhoto updater. Every time i install it, it says i need to install it to use iPhoto. What should i do?

i install the iPhoto updater, launch iPhoto after it is installed, and it says to install the iPhoto updater. What should i do?

You have to install and RUN the iPhoto Library updater - it is installed in the utilities folder of your applications folder - double click on it to RUN it and then launch iPhoto to complete the upgrade

  • IPhoto update can't be installed on my MAC ref. "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." this is not possible help?

Recent upgrade to OS X Yosemite on my MAC and iPhoto update can not  now be installed msg reads, "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." this is not possible help?

That error message can be misleading. It means, that iPhoto on your Mac is not associated with your Apple ID.
Either you did not set up  your Mac using the same Apple ID - did someone help with your setup and use a different ID? Perhaps a family member? Or did you let someone borrow your installer disks?
Or did you not yet "Accept" iPhoto and other iLife apps to your Apple ID? Check the "Purchased" tab of the App Store, if any applications are waiting to be accepted. If you see "Accept" buttons, press them.
You may  be unable to "Accept" now, if you missed the update to iphoto 9.5.1 on Mavericks. You could try to buy iPhoto, however. If you are lucky, it may show for free.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, but do not empty the Trash, so you can put it back,if need be.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Open the main page "Featured" of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support to sort out the AppleID. Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • IPhoto update stalled

I just updated my MacBook to Yosemite and now my iPhoto update is stalled. I can't cancel the update but I don't want to delete the app because all my photos are on it. How can i fix this?

Why can't you drag the iPhoto appellation to the Trash bin?  You should be able to but will be asked for your Admin password.
Or try holding down the Command key and then drag the app to the Trash  bin.

  • How do I upgrade iPhoto for Yosemite?

How do I upgrade iPhoto for Yosemite 10.10.3?

You ned to upgrade or update iPhoto 9.6.1 with Yosemite 10.10.3, and that update version is only available from the App Store.
It  will depend on the iPhoto version you own, if you still can update to a Yosemite compatible version.  If you have any version of iPhoto '11, and it is listed at the Appstore among your purchases, you can move the incompatible version to the Trash and reload the appStore Purchases page with ⌘R.  Then try, to reinstall from that page.
If you own an older iPhoto version, you cannot update it, you need to buy iPhoto '11, bu apple is no longer selling it. And the retail versions on iLife installer CDs are not compatible with Yosemite.

  • Iphoto and Yosemite 10.10.3

How can I get Iphoto back now that it shows Photos. With iphoto all my pics were numbered and in order for a perfect slideshow - now all over the plaace - all were sorted in events - now in albums all over the place and it would take me months to sort. PLEASE HELP - OLD TOAD ARE YOU LISTENING?

Glad to hear you know your solution.
When I updated Yosemite, I was a bit surprised and startled to find Photos instead of iPhoto, but then discovered I could still use iPhoto. Now I am using both until I decide which to go for. I must say the Preferences in Photos are rather limited, compared with iPhoto, particularly the loss of ability to choose an outside editor.
Yes, no doubt there are a lot of adverse comments, as always with something new, but if you consider that most people who like the new, or don't care, do not bother to post comments about how great it is, you are likely to get a distorted picture of the real situation.
Give it a try and she might be alright!
    Regards.

  • Says iPhoto update incompatible

I have a Mac laptop with OS X Version 10.9.5. I have iPhotoVersion 9.5.1. When I check Software Updates it says iPhoto is an Incompatible App Update. It and others say they are to improve compatibility with OS X Yosemite. I want to keep iPhoto and don't care that it says an error occurred downloading Yosemite since so many comments are bad for that update.
Do I need to eliminate this iPhoto update since it is incompatible? How?
I have looked online and all I see are complaints about Yosemite, yet that and the incompatible message show up every time I look for Updates.

The only version of iPhoto at the App Store is iPhoto 9.6 which is only compatible with Yosemite.  You're version, 9.5.1 is the last released version that is compatible with Mavericks.  You don't need any update.

    Hi,
I scoured the web looking everywhere for a solution to this.
    Exit Code 15
OSX 8.5 with Work@Home DVD media for CS6
I followed instructions to run 3rd party cleaner software
I tried the adobe removal tool
removing all copies of adobe software manually
installing from a new account, safe mode, plist everything suggested that i found did not work.
A colleague suggested that removing the below folder would allow the installation:
    /Library/Application Supports/Adobe
They turned out to be correct, so i am passing this on, because this took far too many hours of my time.
    Cheers,

You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.

  • How do I get my albums and pictures to match correctly? Ever since the last iPhoto update my entire library has been in disarray. i.e. my wedding album have pics from vacation album. Which was not the case before.   MacBook Pro 2010

Ever since I did the lastest iPhoto update my picture albums have not correctly matched up with the corresponding photos. i.e. my wedding pictures now show up in my vacation album.  The picture thumbnails are not showing me the correct photos.
15 inch MacBook Pro Late 2010
    iPhone 4

I have iPhoto '11 with the lastest software update. I forgot what number it currently is. I am vigalant when it comes to the latest software updates. Yes, I did restore my iPhoto pictures from a backup since I founf out I could not share any of my pics using my apeture library since they were not the orginals. So, after the back-up of iPhoto all my pictures albums and the pics in the album do not match up, even the thumbnails.  I find this quite annoying. All my albums were working and correctly before this update.  As for apeture can I re-master all the photos there masters? so i can just do away with using iPhoto all together?
    Thanks for the quick reply!

  • IPhoto update from iLife06 won't open HP Scans. Help?

I decided to install iLife06 and had instant problems. I have a 2.5 Dual G5 running 10.3.9. and am using an HP 4890 scanner. Prior to installing the iPhoto update as part of iLIfe06, everything worked fine. I would scan a photo and transfer it to iPhoto and open it and work on it and whatever. Now...scans won't open in iPhoto. No matter how I try to sneak the scan into iPhoto, (via Preview, etc.), it won't open, freezes and has to be force quit. Reinstalled HP software to no avail. All the prior scans done on the same HP 4890, that were already in iPhoto, open fine, but new ones....nada. Had issue with iWeb too, not happy with this iLife06...how do I get rid of it, get back the old iPhoto, and back to serenity? If I use the original disks can I just install the old iPhoto?

    Hi redcatres,
I do not know the answer of why the scans are not opening in iPhoto. Do you scan and save to a folder (not the iPhoto Library folder), then import into iPhoto?
To get back to iPhoto 5, you would really need a backup of the iPhoto 5 Library folder that has not been updated to version 6 in order to keep your metadata such as comments and keywords, and also all your albums, slideshows, books.
You can go back to 5 if you do not have a version 5 backup, but you will have to reimport your photos and lose your metadata.
    Steps:
    To reinstall iPhoto 5
Drag the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder to the desktop and rename it it iPhoto 6 library
Navigate to /Applications and drag iPhoto to the trash
Navigate to /Library/Receipts and drag all iPhoto receipts to the trash
Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences and drag com.apple.iPhoto.plist to the trash.
Insert your iLife 5 CD/DVD and choose to do a custom install. You will have to keep ongoing through the steps of the install before you get to the screen where you can choose a custom install.
    Install iPhoto.
Run Software Update and update iPhoto to the latest version of 5
Put your backup iPhoto 5 library in the Pictures folder and launch iPhoto.
If you do not have a backup iPhoto 5 library:
Open the iPhoto 6 library folder on the desktop
-double click the iPhoto Library folder on the desktop to open it
-the two main folders you will need to import are the Original folder and the Modified folder (only if you want to import the edited images).
-the Originals folder has all your originals photos unedited. the Modified folder has all images that you have edited, rotated, cropped, etc.
-Drag these two folders to the desktop
-If you want to save the edited image, find it in the roll in the Modified folder and drag it into the roll of the same name in the Originals folder. It will replace the originals and now will be the original.
-If you don't care to save any edited images, then don't import the Modified folder into iPhoto or don't bother replacing the edited image with the original image like I just described.
-If you import the Originals folder into iPhoto you will have all your originals in their named rolls.
-If you import the Originals and Modified folders into iPhoto, you will have all of the being in the originals folder in the finder. The roll with the same name as the other will have a _1 appended to it's name (in the finder)
-the roll from the originals will be next to the same roll from the Modified folder within iPhoto. You can then delete any of the images from there if you want.
I know this might sound confusing but it really isn't.
Get back if any of this sounds like something you might want to do.

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account.  On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account.  If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to.  It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?
Can I have 2 apple ids?
If I created a 2nd apple id to get to NONE on credit card needed, can't I log into it also on another laptop in gmail?
    (won't let me)
If I used my original apple id I created when I got my new ipad, it will not let me get free app without credit card, there is no where it says NONE needed. I am too new to apple to start with credit cards etc until I get use to it.

  • After iPhoto update some photos go black when trying to edit them and am unable to edit those photos

After iPhoto update some photos go black when trying to edit them and am unable to edit those photos. How do I fix this as this is the latest update?

If I hold down the Option key while launching iPhoto, I get the option to start a new library. Do I have to import all my thousands of photos into the new library?
In his original post the poster referenced the following. As to the new Library, see the end.
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. *Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. *Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. *A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. *A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. *A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *If none of these help*:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Regards
