IPhoto Upgrade iBook G4 so can continue to order books & prints?

Hi,
Trying to determine the lowest v iPhoto upgrade for continued ability to order books and prints...would that be the iPhoto version in iLife 05? ...don't want/need GarageBand, iDVD, etc., just iPhoto! Recommendations appreciated.

This page
http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/ordering_options/
tells us that you can order books with v6 or later.
You can place orders for Print Products using iPhoto 6, iPhoto '08, and iPhoto '09, as well as Aperture 2.
As you're on 10.4.11 you might want to go to iPhoto 08 as it's the highest you can run, and will probably be easier to find. Note that you cannot upgrade to any version without purchasing the iLife suite.

I currently have iPhoto 6.0.6.  I am no longer able to order books from this iPhoto.  Can I upgrade to the next iPhoto without purchasing a new operating system?

  • I have a Mac OSx 10.6.8 and iPhoto 7.1.5 and can no longer order printed photo albums unless i install new version of iPhoto. But reviews of new iPhoto so negative. Should I install it or steer clear of it??

I have a Mac OSx 10.6.8 and iPhoto 7.1.5 and can no longer order printed photo albums unless I update to new version of iPhoto. But reviews of new iPhoto are so negative that I am uncomfortable about buying it. Will it be fine or should I steer clear of trouble and accept that i can no longer publish my photos?

    iPhoto '11 is working well.
The reviews usually only show the comments of people who do not like the changed features.
To get an idea what to expect, when you upgrade, look at the iPhoto '11 support sites.

  • Error message doesn't allow iPhoto to connect to order books/prints

i get this messager repeatedly while trying to order books, prints, and publish my photos via my .mac account. AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE CONFIRMING YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION. PLEASE CHECK YOUR NETWORK CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN. i already checked time/date, my connection is fine, my computer is clean, what can this be?????

I am experiencing this same problem tonight. Did you resolve this problem? If so, how? This is the first time this has happened to me. I know it's not a problem with my account, because I am able to sync my iDisc, log into my .mac account on Safari, etc. The problem seems to be limited to iPhoto.

  • Where can I get a book printed from a Pages document?

Ok, I know of dozens of service bureaus/labs happy to print photo books for people from a series of jpeg image files. Pages does not output jpeg files. I know of one that will do it from a PDF (Blurb, actually), but it must be a PDF/X-3 file, which Pages does not do, either. Where can I get a photo book printed from either a Pages document, or from a Pages-created PDF?
I don't really want to layout my book in InDesign -- Pages is so much easier and faster.

It isn't impossible to use Pages for book printing.
Do search on the matter here in the forum
    Go to this site http://pagesfaq.blogspot.com/2006/12/how-does-pages-handle-pdf-x-files.html
and this one holds a lot of information

    Good luck with the book!

  • How can I make Address Book print labels how I want, or export to Word?

I have found a number of serious problems with Address Book, which unless I can overcome them mean it is entirely useless for me. Almost all are to do with creating mailing labels or envelopes:
1.I can't find any way of defining a sheet format for labels different from those on the pre-defined list. My labels are in 2 columns of 8, on a sheet 12” long by 8” wide, margins 0.5mm top and bottom, and ½” left and right. The labels themselves are 3½” x1½”. Address Book can't do it. It is odd that this is so restrictive, whereas with envelopes one has total flexibility.
2.Although I can define which address I want to print on each label or envelope, I can't find a way of defining which field should be used for the first (name) line. It always consists of the First and Last names as recorded on each card. This is not what I want. For different mailings, I want to use different first lines, as in many cases each card is the address of a family group, the First and Last names simply recording the names of the parents e.g., John and Mary Smith. But for my Christmas mailing I want to print 'The Smith Family', whereas for my charity mailshots I want to print 'Mrs Mary Smith', as she is the charity supporter, not her husband or children.
3.The address layout seems to be fixed, with each element on a separate line. This is not how I want to print, as in some cases it makes for too many lines, particularly on labels. I want to put the zip/post-code on the same line as the county or state, separated by about ½”. But I can't see how to dictate the layout at all. On labels there is a further problem, in that I can't define a vertical and/or horizontal off-set for the text.
4.The Country does not print at all on labels, making the application quite useless for foreign mailings, and I can't find a way of overcoming this. Over half our mailing addresses are affected by this.
    5. And another problem really puts the final cherry on the icing of this cake: There is no way I can find of exporting the data from the address book in a format, e.g. a csv file, that I can bring into a word processor where I could do these mailings how I want them. Not only does the box fail to do what I need, it is also locked.
I don't understand why, having set up Address Book on the database principle that one should have have to record each contact only once no matter how many ways one needs to use the data, it seems it has then been implemented in a way that prevents it being used in one of the most obvious ways, to print addresses in a format of the user's choice.
The Applecare adviser tells me the problems I have can't be overcome. Is that right, or is she, and I missing something? Please help.

"It's Christmas card time again and the fact that Address Book is useless for this purpose is really frustrating."
While I sympathise with the functionality of Address Book, I'm old-fashioned enough to write my cards and envelopes by hand (shock! horror!) and get quite p***-off to receive bulk-printed stuff.
    Just a thought, peeps.
It'd be all too easy to follow that up with a cheapshot making reference to how many Christmas cards you have to send, but I'll rise above that and explain that some of us might want to use this for business contacts and have 300+ cards to address.
It is a shame that the printing feature from Address Book is so close, yet so far from performing this simple task. It is a shame that Pages can run mail merge, but only for one record per page (which is useless for label printing). It is also a shame that MS Word for Mac does proper labels but doesn't recognise Address Book as a datasource.
These things are all a shame because with Apple's software, you rather expect things to "just work", as per their advertising, and when very simple things don't "just work", it difficult not to feel cheated.

  • Can't order book

I created a book using iPhoto 4 and when I click on the Order Book button, it assembles the book and then nothing happens. No screen to pick the book, enter payment details, etc. Any ideas why?

Maybe too obvious a question, but can we assume that you have a live internet connection when you try ordering?

  • Still connecting... in iPhoto 5.0.4 to order book

I have the not uncommon problem of trying to order a book...the book pages load; I get the "connecting" blue and white barber shop bar...and it never happens. I tried asking support, and they told me to try a hard line instead of wireless--nothing. Then I went to these boards, and took the advice to throw out the preferences...I'm still trying to rebuild my library from that little stunt. SO now I have two questions:
    -1-
Can people really order books still from iphoto 5.0.4, and if so how? My 1-click is active, etc.
    -2-
Did I lose my book as I'd spent days laying it out forever by taking advice from this board? If not, how do I get it back? I am currently reloading everything through "add to library..." and taking everything in the pictures folder into i photo...no books or albums have yet appeared.

Yes - lots of people do it all the time with no problems
Then I went to these boards, and took the advice to throw out the preferences...I'm still trying to rebuild my library from that little stunt
Specifically what advice did you follow and what did you do? I'v not seen any advice here that would cause library corruption causing you to have to rebuild your library. Certainly deleting the iPhoto preferences will not corrupt your library - it will not have any affect of any sort on your library. Any corruption problems you have would have been caused by something else.
Did I lose my book as I'd spent days laying it out forever by taking advice from this board?
Again nothing I've seen here will cause you to lose anything - except your preference settings which are easily reset.
If not, how do I get it back?
Again - that depends on what you did and what you are seeing.
I am currently reloading everything through "add to library..." and taking everything in the pictures folder into i photo...no books or albums have yet appeared
Again - "add to library" is not a part of any of the instructions I have seen here - depending on what you did and what you have there may be ways to save your library with its projects (books, etc) - but add to library will not include your projects
    what did you do?
    what are you seeing?
How did you rebuild your library?
Why are you adding to library now?

  • Getting an iPhoto book printed immediately

    Greetings from Sydney, Australia.
I am using iPhoto 08 to create a portfolio book but i'm in a miassive rush and can't wait for Apple to print and ship it to me.What are my options? Can I get it printed at a professional printing place... will I need to take my computer there? I know the PDF option is there but that will diminish the quality yes?
So, how can I get the book printed without going through Apple?
Thank you thank you thank you in anticipation.
    Brendon.

Welcome to the Apple user discussions
you can make a PDF and print it yourself or take it to a local printer - I doubt that you will get the binding quality and doing the dust cover would be difficult - it is really not a do it yourself project - but you can make the PDF and do anything you want with it
