IPhoto (v.9.1.1) freezing soon after launch
What gives?
Something weird is going on with iPhoto today.
I sent myself some image files (.jpg - some logo pics for my iPod Touch).
Mail tried to save them to iPhoto - but iPhoto would just freeze.
I saved the files to a folder on my hard drive. Tried to copy the images to iPhoto.
As soon as I launch iPhoto, the spinning beach ball begins and the app freezes.
The only way out is to do a Force Quit. I just can't use iPhoto.
What's going on?
OS 10.6.7 on 2.8 Quad Core iMac, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD - so there's enough hardware to handle this simple task.
Looks like iPhoto has an issue.
Anyone else having the same problem?
First, launch iPhoto with the Option held down and create a new library. If that is successful then your current library is damaged. In that case make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select options #1, #2 and #6.
Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

IPod touch 2g freezes soon after startup (i.e. it's unusuable)
As per the title. Every time I boot it up, it freezes soon after, normally after performing an action (pressing an on-screen button, etc). Once frozen, it doesn't unfreeze, so I have to hard reset it. Leaving it in sleep also freezes it, although not as quickly. Before experiencing this problem, my iPod would occasionally freeze itself while I was sleeping (it would have been in sleep mode while this happened, and the battery was sometimes drained when I woke up).
So far, I've tried DFU+restoring it to 4.3.1 twice, and once to 4.1. It's been able to sync my music (and to play it, once!)
My iPod is two and a half years old, and is not damaged in any way that would influence its performance.
I can provide any extra information that's necessary.If the problem persists after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod (you did not state that that was the restore you performed), then I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

IPhoto crashes soon after launch
My iPhoto crashes a few seconds after launch. I have followed all the iPhoto repair options. I have tried iPhoto Library Manager but get an error when trying to do a re-build (I have contacted their support to see what the problem with that is)
Any help much appreciated.

Adobe CC won't launch, Photoshop freezes immediately after launch, help!
Hello, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this issue. It started with Photoshop CC freezing, as in spinning color wheels of death immediately after launch. I have tried launching with a file, without a file, from Lightroom, independently, nothing works, but spinning wheel until I force quit.
So I tried to update, thinking it wpould help. Adobe CC won't launch at all, no error message, no force quit, just nothing happens. I tried uninstalling both, but unistall just hangs, bouncing in the dock for all eternity until I force quit. The Adobe Application Manager will not launch, and also hangs until a force quit.
The machine is a MacPro OSX 10.7.5 with 3.2 GHz Quad-Core 8GB with no other issues. I have done no updates, no new programs, apps, fonts or plugins in weeks, and the Adobe CC stuff has been working until two days ago. No other issues with the machine I have noticed, and Lightroom and PS CS6 are both working as usual. Restarts have no effect.
I have attempted to start PS CC using command-shift-option thinking the preferences might be causing an issue, but got the same hanging result. Renaming the OOBE file has not worked. Help!Have you had any luck with this? I've been experiencing the same since Creative Cloud started... happens with all creative cloud apps. I removed the creative cloud desktop app as that was the most troublesome and would often hang everything after waking from sleep. Helped a little but waking from sleep still creates the issue and I have to restart the computer. If I do get an app working and I go to update through the help menu, that app hangs. I've read in other discussions that you need to change the user (which is ******** and very time consuming) but like an idiot I did that and... surprise, suprise, same problem. Never seen adobe come back on this one.

Mail crash soon after launch solution
I have been having this problem for days and have been pulling my hair out ever since. Mail.app simply crash seconds after launch. I tried every suggestions on the forum, even created a new account to rule out account setting and mail box problem. I have experienced this problem since my last major OS update, so I figured probably something to do with corrupted system files.
I also noticed dotmacsync crashes at every startup, so I thought it might be something to do with sync services. To confirm this, I launch iSync, and it crashes immediately.
I disabled all seem related frameworks one by one to see which affect all 3 services, mail.app, iSync.app and dotmac. After some digging through, I found SyncServices.framework. Restored it from backup, and all good now.
Hope this would help someone in the same boat.Check out the thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6139445. Solutions posted there worked for me (deleting To Dos in iCal; note that you can still use To Dos after performing this fix).

Itunes 10 freezes soon after opening
With the latest update, iTunes would play one song, then freeze. Even the song's progress bar had frozen before the end of the song.
Nothing but twirling beach ball.
Next I found out that iTunes would hang regardless of what you did, about 30 seconds into the process.
I suspected it had something to do with iTunes talking to Apple. So I turned off WiFi. Suddenly iTunes worked. No hanging.
So I turned off iTunes match. Turned on WiFi.
So far so good.
Then I turned on iTunes match.
Works like a charm.
Hope this can be useful to someone.Hey I fixed my problem after deleting the entire OS using the Mac OSX 10.4 Install dvd and reinstalling it.
I believe whatever I did was not necessary but it did solve the problem. It only took me about 5 hours including updating so if any of you guys have the same problem as me and have no hope of fixing it then try the method I used above.

Webcam always freezes soon after starting a call, ...
Hello all! I'm on Windows 8.1. So, I have a big problem - about 30 seconds or less after starting a Skype video chat, my camera freezes for the person on the other end... forever. It happens every single time.
Using Process Explorer, I've found that unsurprisingly 'Skype.exe' is using it - HOWEVER there are always 2 instances simultaneously running. Only in Process Explorer do 2 instances show - not in Task Manager or Resource Monitor. Although in the volume mixer there are 2 separate Skype volume controls and if I shut Skype down, 1 separate control stays open for a minute or so. The webcam also stay on for a few minutes after I've shut Skype down - why is this? If I were paranoid I'd think that someone was hacking and spying on me! ; )
I have Googled and Googled and Googled with no results, no joy. I've uninstalled it, re-installed it and I don't have a Skype web plug-in (in case that was the cause). I am using the desktop version, not the app as I loathe the apps. I uninstalled the app, in fact - in case that was what was causing the issue, and as I never used it.

Reinstalled my webcam drivers, upgraded to latest Skype version (was 6.20 before), tried disabling the firewall, tried the same set of actions on the other end. Also tried deleting Skype folders under AppData/Roaming and AppData/Local on both ends. Checked the temperature monitors on both ends - no overheating. Tried upgrading graphics drivers on the other end. Tried changing ports in the connection settings - did not help either.
Some of the other things we have tried:
Me calling my partner from a different account - freezes
Me calling my partner on a different account - freezes
Me calling my partner from a tablet connected to same network as computer - no freezes
Me calling my other account on a tablet connected to same network as computer - no freezesI am yet to try calling someone else with these scenarios.
Previously we used to spend up to 11 hours on a call without any issues.
Enabling logging did not result in any logs being created at all - and yes, I do have hidden files displaying enabled in Windows.
I have full access to both machines and will be happy to provide any logs and whatnot - given that they exist of course. Our alternative at the moment is Google Hangouts but its much less reliable and has to work through a browser - permanently leaving Skype for it would suck.

ITunes Freezes soon after starting
I really don't like iTunes I tend to avoid like the plague because every time I try do something with it, it doesn't work the way I want it to if I didn't have an Iphone I would delete it...anyway I wanted to add a movie to my phone or try to anyway went in found the movie checked and hit sink the program get's to step three then freezes, I've tried starting iTunes in safemode and it still freezes on step three, don't even know why I'm here I should just delete iTunes and forget it but if anybody has a fix for this that doesn't involve 20 steps so I can get my movie on my iPhone it would be nice.

Cursor freezes soon after waking from sleep, Magic Trackpad
I have a mid-2011 21.5" iMac with a Magic Trackpad. Cursor sometimes freezes within a few minutes of waking from sleep. Sometimes it happens several times a day, sometimes I've gone almost a week without it happening. Keyboard continues to work but trackpad is non-responsive. To get it working again I go to Spotlight using the keyboard and search Bluetooth, arrow down to Bluetooth System Preferences in the Spotlight results. After a little while the cursor starts working again.
When it happens this appears in the Console:

This is what I've tried over the past six months: I have tried 3 pairs of Apple recharger batteries (same batteries work fine in keyboard) and a new pair of Energizer batteries, I have tried resetting PRAM and SMC. Three clean installs of Mavericks: First clean install I restored from Time Machine backup. Second clean install I did Migration Assistant from SuperDuper backup. Third time I created new user and did manual drag and drop from backup of user files and manually reinstall apps. I did not move over my fonts in case there were any corrupt ones, so the only fonts I have came with Mavericks. I have a new trackpad courtesy of AppleCare, as well as a new Bluetooth board. I have tried trashing the Bluetooth prefs, removing the trackpad from the Bluetooth list and pairing again. I have seached for solutions in the discussions as well as other sites.
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.I had the same problem. I have found a work around - sort of. I have unchecked the option to "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" (System Preferences / Bluetooth / Advanced). I no longer have the problem. Having to wake the computer another way (I have a USB wireless mouse so no problem for me) and waiting a second or two for the bluetooth devices to connect is less annoying than continually losing trackpad connection. Satellite A300 freezes soon after boot up
Turned laptop on this morning and got a Norton warning message saying my Antivirus software was turned off.
I have never turned it off before so could not understand this.
Anyway, I clicked on the fix icon in Norton but it jammed on 7%.
I could still move the cursor around the screen but nothing else would work. Tried CTRL+ALT+DEL but that made no difference.
Shut Laptop down by holding the power key. After re-booting went back into Norton to try full system scan but after a few minutes it jammed up as before.
Re-booted again and connected to internet but again after a few minutes it jammed up. It seems no matter what I do it only lasts 4-5 mins before locking up.
I've looked on other forums using pc at at work for possible fixes. Similar problems seem to be to do with overheating although found one site that suggests it could be Service Pack related.
Does this sound right?
Any help gratefully received please.

Now when I boot up the screen says it is installing updates (Windows) then after a few seconds re-boots then goes through the same start-up and crash process repeatedly.
I can only think it has crashed at some point when installing updates and this has caused this new problem.
Like I said in my original post I have no previous experience of sorting something like this. I think now is the time to take it to my local computer specialist and see if he can sort it for me.
I really don't want to cause any more damage to my machine so the 30 he quoted me seems like a fair price?
Having to shut laptop down using the power button every time cannot be doing it much good either.

IPhoto 11 (9.1.1) Crashes Shortly After Launching
Since I upgraded to 10.6.6 IPhoto crashes several seconds after opening. Have uninstalled and reinstalled iPhoto three times from original CD, repaired permissions several times with no resolution.
I hav not installed bootcamp, so removing the Bootcamp partition won't help.

Then I relaunched Mail, which restarted problem free. Then, one by one and slowly, I re-enabled all my accounts. -
IPhoto 7.1.5 crashes very shortly after launch
Since I upgraded to 7.1.5, I can't launch iPhoto. It crashes before showing any images. Terence Devlin does not need to copy and paste his usual post about deleting the preferences file -- I already tried that to no avail.
Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and see if that helps.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard. -
Iphoto hangs soon after startup
Since a few days I can't work with iPhoto. Soon after starting it up the coloured circle is shown and I have to terminate iPhoto. I already installed it once more again, but nothing changed, even if there is an empty library the app hangs.
Does anybody know this behaviour? Would be nice if I get help here!

Start with the troubleshooting basics:
1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

Swatch library suddenly disappeared and doesn't recognize to reload
I was working on a file as normal and noticed that in a matter of a few minutes, the swatches I had all disappeared. Had left me with none. Rebooted system, didn't help. When I go to reload swatches, it doesn't recognize any of the libraries. HELP!

Hello, i just want to say how much annoying symbian is. Well im browsing ovi suite's web from pc. Found an app that i want to download. I clicked send to mobile and everythinks starts: Got sms with link. First opens converstations, to be able to clic
