IPhoto v 9.6 doesn't update pictures added by shared parties in iCloud Stream

I have a MacBookPro 15 inch mid 2010, 8GB ram
I am running OS X Yosemite v 10.10.  I am using iPhoto v 9.6.
I created an event that I shared on iCloud with other parties.  I gave them permission to read/write.  The other parties added photos to the stream.  These added photos show up on my iPhone 5S using iOS 8 but they do not show up on my iPhoto application.
I have restarted iPhoto, my MacBook, my router, etc.  Nothing seems to work.  I have left the computer running overnight to see if the downloads would come through and were delayed because of large file size, but nothing happened.  iPhoto just shows the pics I originally included in the stream.

My iphoto 8.1.2 doesn't update to Mavericks edition... ($14.99??)
Doesn't appear the updates @ App Store, It says that I have to pay 14.99...
same thing with my imovie ! Help :\

iPhoto 8.1.2 is marginally compatible with Mavericks.  Usesr report problems with exporting slideshows, exporting photos outside of iPhoto just to name a couple.  Be sure to turn off all photo sharing in iPhoto's Sharing preference pane and set the Web pane like this:
Otherwise you may frequently get the SWOD (spinning wheel of death) upon launch or at other times.

  • CS4 doesn't update picture when adjustment layers are changed

Basically the problem I have after just downloading CS4 is that, other than loving the improvements to the program, I'm irritated by the fact that I can't see the effect of any adjustments I make in the layers pallete until I click on the actual picture, or zoom it in or out.  Occasionally it will update on it's own but most of the time not.  Anybody ever had this problem?  Could it be related to the GPU thing -- maybe need new drivers?

Well, I updated to the latest ATI driver and it still does the same thing.  It live-updates when I'm making adjustments in say a curves or levels or any other adjustment dialog, but the real problem is, if I turn a layer on or off I have to then either zoom or click the image to see the current status.  As I said earlier, very irritating when you're trying a bunch of different adjustments then want to turn off one or the other to quickly see the difference.

  • IPhoto 6.0.4 new won't update pictures permission error

I am still using 10.3.9; just got iLife 6.0; installed fine. Did whatever updates allowed to me. Trying to open iPhoto; as usual, goes through the updating process to all photos. here's where it gets interesting.
I am the only user on this computer. I am the admin.
iPhoto says that there are permission issues and to go into the iPhoto pictures folder and allow read and write. I did that. nothing. So then I went back and went folder to folder ensuring all were okay. All fine.
    Nothing.
I can't sit here and check all of the 1000s of pictures to see which one is somehow not correct on permissions. Is this a glitch? Am I missing something? its never done this on all of the previous upgrades. Little help from you old pros

    Carl:
Try the following: download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. That often works where just the Info window does not.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • I have iphoto 6 and my pictures are no longer showing.  I have tried importing them but it just give me an error msg. (file format not recognized) I have tried rebuilding the iphoto library but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

I have iphoto 6 and my pictures are no longer showing.  I have tried importing them but it just give me an error msg. (file format not recognized) I have tried rebuilding the iphoto library but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

    How did you rebuild?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I am using OS 10.5.8, and when I run software update, it assures me I have up to date software. I have not added any photos since the last time I used it, probably less than a month ago. What gives?

  • Help, iphoto 4.0.3 doesn't see my pictures

I want to give someone my old G4 and I deleted something inadvertently trying to free up hard drive space. Now my iPhoto 4.0.3 doesn't work. Tekserve in NYC sold me iLife 09 to replace it, but that doesn't run on OSX 10.4.11. I tried to download iphoto 4.0.3, but am told that no versions of the program exist on my computer. When I click on iphoto and try to import pictures from my user/pictures folders, I can see the photos, but iPhoto doesn't recognize them. Any suggestions how to fix this? Or how to proceed? I'll buy another version if I can find one that will work on 10.4.11—if that's what it takes. Thanks.

    What does not work?
When I click on iphoto and try to import pictures from my user/pictures folders, I can see the photos, but iPhoto doesn't recognize them
you cna not import photos form the iphoto library into the iPhoto library
It sounds like your iPhoto program runs fine - is that tcorrect?
But you do not show any photos in your iPhoto library using iPhoto (do not use the finder to go into our iPhoto library) - is that what you are seeing (or not seeing as the case may be)?

  • IPhoto 1.0 to iPhoto 2.0 doesn't update

I'm using iPhoto 2.1 on my other Macs (iBook & iMac) to make Quicktime slideshows files w/ music for iDVD (great) -but, on my G4 running OS 10.1.5: still have iPhoto 1.0. I tried updating it to iPhoto 2.0 unsuccessfully. It almost does it, but I then get an error message. Just says "there's an error... & try again". The iPhoto app was in the Documents folder, so I copied it to the Applications folder. Thought that might help. Then tried to trash the iPhoto app from the Documents folder. Got a message: "Cannot be completed because the item belongs to root".
What to do? I'm not up yet to upgrade to a higher OS for my G4. Can't figure out why I could upgrade to iPhoto 2.0 (then 2.01) on my iBook & iMac & not on my G4. Other than the iBook & iMac boots with OS 10.1.5 (out of the box), and my G4 boots with OS 9.2.2, tho I often restart with OS 10.1.5.
    Any help much appreciated... Joan

Since iPhoto 2 pre-dates iLife, it is available as a separate download from Apple's website. But since you already have it on one of your Mac's, why not just copy the application to your second machine's Applications folder?

You need to have iPhoto 11 v9.6 (which you can get from the App Store) to use iPhoto on Yosemite. If you already have iPhoto 11 then the update is free. Otherwise it's a purchase.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Once I fix the thumbnail pictures in iPhoto, how do I make them stay fixed.  Everytime I turn the computer back on iPhoto goes directly back to having 1 picture for all thumbnails.

I have been having problems with the thumbnail pictures in iPhoto.  It will typically show 1 picture for all thumbnails.  I have figured out how to repair the thumbnail pictures, but everytime the computer is shut down, the thumbnail pics revert back to 1 picture for all.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
how do you fix the thumbnailsd?
what other fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • IPhoto is saying I need to update it in order to open it but I have the latest version?

iPhoto says to do a software update but the software update is saying that everything is up to date.
Is there a way for it to open and not lose any pictures? I stupidly didn't back up the pictures onto a seperate harddrive.
My computer is relatively new (about 6 months) and am very frustrated.
Please help and thank you in advance.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:

  • Iphoto does not allow me to update

Since installing Moutain Lion my iphoto does not allow me to update. It asks for it, but does not complete it. What should I do?

I have the same problem. I have iPhoto 9.1.5 running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I open iPhoto and select Check for Updates... It says iPhoto 9.4.2 is available so I push Launch Software Update and it launches the App Store but then it says No Update Available. This doesn't surprise me since I never bought through the App Store but instead installed from the iLife '11 install DVD. All of iLife updated fine until Apple started releasing automatic updates through the App Store ONLY. So I tried going on Apple Support and manually downloading the next available update (Tried 9.2.1 & 9.4.2), I launch the installer and it says iPhoto 9.1 or greater is required to install this update. I have 9.1.5 so I don't understand why it won't work. I even tried installing iPhoto 9.1 update and it says it requires iPhoto 9.0. I don't know what else to try except maybe calling Apple to see if they would give me a free download through the App Store (Highly unlikely). I refuse to purchase the whole suite AGAIN just because it won't update but I want my updates so I can use iCloud and Photo Stream. So frustrating. I have been dealing with this for a year and now I am finally deciding to speak up and get some help with this. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
