IPhoto v9.1.3 Mouse Scolling Fault

I've just upgraded my iPhoto through App Store to v9.1.3 and within the Photos List section I'm unable to scroll down, as it defaults only to the top of the list. I've tried used both mighty mouse and magic mouse.  All other lists work fine.

Under iPhoto | Preferences | General & "Email photos using", I have "Mail" selected.
Whether I change this to "iPhoto" or "Mail" does not change the result iPhoto eMail from the function where I experience the problem:
From "Web | MyMobileMeName, select a MobileMe Album then "Info | Tell a Friend"
However, the "Share | eMail" IS affected by the changing the "Email Photos using" field.
Note: In my subject line, I should have said "Tell a Friend" instead of "Invite a Guest" to better identify the source of my problem.

  • Iphoto ver 8.1.2 unable to open iphoto. can hold down mouse button and 1 page of iphoto will open. click anywhere on screen and iphoto closes

Cannot open iPhoto. It's on the toolbar, but will not open. I can hold the mouse over the icon and hold the mouse button down and iPhoto will open to a thumbnail photo, but if I click anywhere on the page, iPhoto closes. iPhoto shows open on top of page, but practically all selectable items are gray.

It sounds like the window might have slipped down below the Dock or similar. Try change your screen resolution and (SystemPreferneces -> Displays) and that should force it back into reach. The return the resolution to whatever it was.

  • IPhoto '09 Slow to load - Coredata Fault Issue?

Every time I open up iPhoto as of late it's really slow to load. At least a good minute. I've only got 7GBs of photos (about 5000 photos). I don't seem to have any issues that would require a rebuild so I'm not sure what's up. I checked Console and below is the fault I'm getting. Any thoughts out there?
5/27/11 6:34:31 AM iPhoto[896] Exception writing metadata: CoreData could not fulfill a fault for '0x1b81ced0 <x-coredata://D008F319-958D-4A27-B17B-A1DD30FE62CC/ABCDEmailAddress/p2952>'

    Honestly I don't know.
Speed issues are tricky. You have 2 gigs of RAM and that's not a lot - especially if you have other apps running, so that might be part of it.
Low disk space can have a big impact on performance, but that's not an issue here.
A corrupted library or bunged up cache file can cause problems, but I would expect that a new Library would open snappily.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • Can't restore iPhoto Library from Time Machine.   Faults halfway through.

POSTED EARLIER ON iPHOTO 9 DISCUSSION-recommended checking here.
My wife is running a Mac Mini with iPhoto 9. She has let her hard drive space drop to about 4gigs. This morning, she opened iPhoto and nothing came up. I looked at some of the posts here and did the following 1) ran disk utility to repair permissions 2) removed enough files to get her available hard drive space above 10gigs. Mostly by moving to her external hard drive. 3) Based on what I was reading, I copied her iPhoto library and related files to a folder on her external drive. I then deleted the iPhoto library file itself. 4) I went into TimeMachine and ran it back to the last backup yesterday and asked it to Restore that file.
The process went forward smoothly until it hit about 5.5gigs of the 46.5gig file. At that point it stopped and a dialogue box said "the operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access iPhoto library". I ran it again---essentially it fails after restoring the thumbnails. I checked permissions for iPhoto and it shows 'read and write' as the settings.
Any suggestions? Is using Time Machine for this purpose not workable? Thanks in advance for your help.

Disk utility ran through the REPAIR disk function on the Time Machine drive and came back good. I then ran the VERIFY disk function on the Main disk and it also came back good. I was not offered a REPAIR disk option for the Main Disk.
    No errors. Any other suggestions?

  • Scrolling suddenly stopped working on laptop. this is'nt the first time as I have had issues with my laptop mouse scolling feature not working

What a pain in the ass. Firefox will inadvertently stop the scrolling feature from working on my synaptics laptop mouse. It works for every other program except Firefox. Really??? This has happened on other versions of FF and I was sooo reluctant to upgrade as I was afraid it would happen again and viola, 3 days later it stopped working. If I restart FF scrolling works for about 15 seconds and then stops again. This is a joke.

Therefore, t there any way to just completely delete all the old backup data out of my Time Capsule from my prior Mac Laptop?
Here is how to do this:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click the Disks icon at the top of the AirPort Utility window
Click the Disks tab below the icons
    Click Erase
The "Quick Erase" option will only take a moment or two
Now you can backup your MacBook Pro. If you connect an Ethernet cable from the MBP to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC, the first backup will go 3-5 times faster than wireless.
Once you have the first backup done, you can use wireless for subsequent backups since they will only take a few minutes

  • Don't change 1st slide of a show created in iPhoto '08 and converted to '09

I discovered that a slideshow that was created in iPhoto '08 and then converted to '09 (i.e., the whole library file was converted) can cause iPhoto to freeze if you change the 1st photo in the show, e.g., by moving another photo into the 1st position (iPhoto doesn't crash -- it just fails to respond to all mouse interactions, and you can't even kill iPhoto via Apple-CMD-Q).
So -- warning if you have '08 slide shows converted to '09 -- don't try this!!!
I have submitted a bug report to Apple's iPhoto support, but my guess is that the bug is due to such a weird combination of circumstances that they won't place high priority on fixing it. In case you're interested in further details, here's the description I wrote in my bug report:
    ========
I recently bought a new iMac with Leopard and iLife '09. I copied several iPhoto '08 (version 7.1.5 -- I believe that's the latest version available for OS X 10.4) library files from an old PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.4.11. When I opened them in iPhoto '09 iPhoto asked me to convert them to the new version and I did so. I can view, edit, run slideshows, etc. of all my updated iPhoto '08 library files fine in iPhoto '09 -- except for one very annoying bug!
When working in iPhoto '09 with a slideshow that was created in iPhoto '08 and converted to '09:
When I move a slide in the slideshow browser to the 1st position of the slideshow and then either Play the slideshow or try to select other photos in the slideshow browser that causes iPhoto to freeze (not crash, there is no Crash Log file). iPhoto stops responding to mouse clicks, there's no way to unhide the Dock with the mouse, and I can't even kill iPhoto with the Apple-CMD-Q keystroke (to terminate iPhoto I use Apple-CMD-TAB to switch to a Terminal shell, find the process id, and then use the shell's "kill -9 pid" command). When this happens I find that after moving a slide to the 1st position in the browser the 1st position in the browser shows a blank instead of the photo that was moved there. When I click on other photos (other than the 1st one) the image gets refreshed with the wrong photo (the one next to it instead of the correct one). However, I have been able to change the 1st slide by deleting it.
It seems that this error only occurs when moving or changing the 1st slide. Making changes to the other slides in the slideshow doesn't cause any problems.
This error also happens when I make a duplicate in iPhoto '09 of a slide show that was originally created in iPhoto '08 and then converted to iPhoto '09 and try to change its 1st slide.
When working with slideshows created in iPhoto '09 none of these problems never occur.

I have been having this same problem even with slideshows created in iPhoto '09. I also reported it to Apple Support. I found a work-around in the meantime, and it might work for you as well.
First of all I discovered the problem when I moved the last thumbnail into the first position. What eventually worked was moving that thumbnail into the second position, and then moving the first thumbnail into the second position. For some reason this did not cause a freeze, and the slideshow played.
As for iPhoto not responding to mouse clicks, I had the same experience. I placed my cursor on the desktop and clicked on it. This enabled me to access the drop down menu from the Apple icon and then I was able to use the force quit option.
I hope this information is helpful.

  • Keyboard and mouse freeze randomly

My keyboard and mouse freeze up for 2-4 seconds at seemingly random intervals.  I could go for a couple hours without it happening, or like now, it has happened twice while writing this.  If I'm typing something when it freezes, nothing I type while it's frozen ends up showing up, but if I had hit a key right when it froze, it will repeat itself until I press something else after it unfreezes.  They keyboard and mouse both freeze at the same time, it's not one or the other.  It has nothing to do with standby like the topic below...it can happen right after I boot up or anytime thereafter.
My hardware is an eMachines M6805 laptop (upgraded to 2GB of RAM) and just a basic Dell USB mouse and keyboard.
I tried searching the forums, but the search box on here searches the entire web for some reason even if I tell it to search TechNet, so I apologize if this has already been answered.

I just had my Desktop freeze whilst I was using Media Player minimised to the taskbar.
I came back to my PC and couldn't use the keyboard or mouse. I plugged in a wired USB mouse and this did not work either. I then used the mouse and keyboard buttons on my MCE remote and still nothing happened, actually something happened as my hard drive
became very busy, but there was nothing happening on screen. I had to reboot to get back to normal operation.
I use a Logitech Bluetooth MX500 keyboard and mouse and have been having problems since I had Windows 7, but thought it was the keyboard and mouse at fault. This is the first time that I have encountered this problem, but I have had problems with the keys
sticking, very annoying when you're in Visual Studio and it goes and deletes a load of code for you because the backspace key was the one that stuck. The cursor also randomly jumps lines occasionally and inserts text where I don't want it. This wouldn't be
such an issue if I was a touch typist and could look at the screen whilst typing, but I am not and only realise the errors when I have finished typing.
Anyway, Mine is a custom built PC(all drivers and windows fully up to date) which ran XP with zero problems:
Gigabyte mboard and graphics card (Nvidia) with I5 processor and 4GB ram.
If this was a USB hub Powersave issue, then I would still expect the hub to wake up when a new device was pugged in, so I'm going to count that fix out.
I'm not sure that the freezing was a mouse/keyboard fault, I suspect that this is more a video driver fault as the computer did become very busy doing something when I used the MCE remote, it's just the screen didn't update to show what it was doing.
I should have looked at the taskbar clock to see if the time had updated, I'll do that next time if it happens again.
I've disabled the Power Save options for the hub that controls the mouse and keyboard, perhaps this will stop the keys sticking and jumping around when I'm typing in Visual Studio.

  • Iphoto is date stamping my imported photos with an incorrect year

I have imported a number of photos from my camera sd cards to iphoto via the card slot on my Mac.  Some have been incorrectly year stamped (confirmed in the "info" button in iphoto) e.g. the latest import is showing 7 September 2012 and should be stamped 7 September 2013 and the photos are obviously catalogued in the incorrect date sequence in iphoto.  Is this a software fault or can I fix this myself, please? The fault has occured with different sd cards.
    HELP please.

You can fix it with the Photos Menu command to adjut date and time.

  • Satellite T110-107 - Touchpad / mouse issue

Just had delivery of a new Tosh T110-107 which I have to say looks wonderful, however a problem. One bootup the touchpad works ok but as soon as I connect the USB mouse then neither work - making the system unusable, until I disconnect the mouse and reboot. SO what have I done to it?
Uninstalled McAfee and addded Norton 360 and Office (both originals) and thats it, the problem was found before anything was done - as it came out of the box.
Win7 Home Premium, never had problems with Win7 but then not used it on a laptop especially this model. Can only imagine its config/software but straight out of the box? Tosh must know there is a problem them - they have too, yet sold it?
    ANyone else had this issue?

Ah answer my own question, mouse at fault, once the wheel is moved it all works, but one has to continuously move it or it don't work. Turns out the mouse was not part of the package, so my apologies to Toshiba, but then thats why I got him to buy this model - reputable manufacturer - great machine though and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about buying one.

  • Mouse and Lion problems

Not sure it is the mouse's fault, but both on my MacBookPro and iMac (with Lion downloaded 3 weeks ago) after a long pause, instead of the pointer, my mouse triggers a smear and I cannot get anywhere until I enter the admin password again. Has anyone encountered the problem and what can be done about it. Claude

  • My mouse keeps reseting it's tracking speed?

So yeah, I have this Engage wired mouse that I just recently got. Only problem with it is that ever since I got it the tracking speed of the tracking speed of the mouse keeps resetting to the default one which is pretty fast for me. I don't think it's the mouse's fault because I replaced it with another mosue of the same model, make, everything and it still does it. Anyone know why this may be?

Perhaps your mouse is misbehaving whilst you are not there?
Do you have the latest drivers from the mouse manufacturer installed?

  • Bluetooth Issues + Snowballing Problems

So, the first sign of trouble for me was when my bluetooth mouse stopped working this morning. At first I thought it was the mouse's fault, because my computer (MBP) gave no indication that bluetooth wasn't working.
When I tried re-pairing my mouse, the setup assistant showed that it was searching, but no devices were found. Then I tried connecting to my phone, and it said there was a problem connecting. I tried other people's phones, and still didn't work. I paired my mouse to my friend's computer just fine.
I googled, and found some things that said repairing disk permissions and then restarting can get the bluetooth working again, so I tried to repair disk permissions. It sat for 15 minutes getting the permissions without even starting the repair, so I canceled it, because any other time I have repaired permissions it has taken no longer than 2 minutes to start.
Then I tried going into the bluetooth system preference pane (before I used the drop-down bluetooth menu to get to the setup assistant) and I get the beachball of death until I force-quit system preferences.
I restarted my computer and when I logged in, I noticed that there was no clock in the menubar. I went into Date & Time and turn on "display clock in menubar" but whenever I exit the preference pane and go back, the box is again unchecked. Displaying the clock in the menubar refuses to stay checked.
Then I tried using the dropdown bluetooth menu in the menubar again, and I got the beachball of death for that. Now when I hover over any system-related menubar item (battery indicator, bluetooth, sound, time machine), I get the beachball of death again. I've let it sit for quite a while, and those menubar items are still not working, even after relaunching the finder.
So... any help would be appreciated, since I appear to be sort of screwed at the moment.
(Also, backing up and restoring, or restoring to an old time machine is NOT an option.)

I had the same problems this morning. First, I checked Activity Monitor; several processes (including Bluetooth) were in "not responding" state. After some Google searches, I ran Disk Utility to repair permissions. It appears to be fine now.
