IPhoto v9.5 - No more "burn" menu ?

Help please...
I meet this really big problem for me.
No more "burning DVD" function in iPhoto 9.5 ?
And burning a DVD is ok from the finder.
Someone to confirm the missing "burn" menu ?

This is from the Help file:
Create your own photo CDs and DVDs
If you have a disc drive that can burn discs, you can share or archive your photos (and video clips) by putting them on a CD or DVD.
Hide
Create a CD or DVD by exporting
In iPhoto, select the photos, albums, or video clips you want to burn to a disc.
Choose File > Export.
In the Export Photos window, click File Export, and then select your options.For best results, choose JPEG, Maximum, and Full Size. For more information, seeExport a photo.
When you’re ready, click Export, and export the photos to a folder on your computer.
When the export is finished, quit iPhoto.
Click the Finder icon in the Dock, and then insert a CD-RW disc or a blank CD-R or DVD-R disc into your drive.
Drag the folder that contains your exported photos to the disc’s icon.
When the files have been copied, choose File > Burn Disc, and then click Burn.

  • "This disc does not allow more burns" message - iPhoto bug

    A strange behavior in iPhoto 6 :
    Easy to reproduce, it happens all the time (on my machine at least).
    * Select a couple of pictures (+/- 150 MB)
    * Go to Share > Burn
    * Insert a blank CD
    * Burn.
    OK, it burns nicely. But ...
    * Eject the CD
    * Put that CD back in the computer to read the pictures.
    * I have the message "This disc does not allow more burns. Insert a Blank CD"
    * Then iPhoto ejects the CD.
    Workaround ?
    * Quit iPhoto
    * Insert the CD again
    * It reads and works OK.
    Anyone the same trouble ?

    I just encountered that problem this morning. I quit iPhoto and put the burned disc back in and saw in the finder that the burn worked. I did not try opening iPhoto again.
    But ... I did just try to put that disc into another Mac. While the disc loaded in iPhoto, it did not show any thumbnails. I had to manually drag the photo originals from the disc into iPhoto to import them.
    Anyone else like to chime in on this?

  • Iphoto slideshow to idvd: quality & burning issues...

    I've made a few slideshows in iphoto due to the Ken Burns effect and also the ability to choose full screen or widescreen. I made DVDs for friends with full and myself with wide for my widescreen- and that works fine.
    My question is about the quality of the movies. Obviously a substantial loss of quality from viewing the show in iPhoto on my Powerbook...
    Is there a better way to do this with better results? Using iMovie? (Never have used that app before..) Each show has 100-250 slides and I choose a music playlist from iTunes. I am a quality freak and looking the uncrisp images isn't too thrilling.
    (Even when playing the disk image in the DVD Player on my Powerbook and comparing with the original project file- it's a little more fuzzy.)
    Also, I just got an external Lacie burner (I have combo drive) and have much unsuccess with burning. I have repaired permissions and create as a disk image in iDVD. It plays back great from the disk image in DVD Player on Powerbook. This specific movie is 2.4 GB and I have 10.1 free dis space.
    Problems: (tried with 2 or 3 different movies)
    *Disk Utility will not burn the image. It begins and then stops and says there are errors (not specific)...
    *iDVD goes through 4 or 5 steps and right at the end says "Errors during burning"
    (I was also getting a multiplexing error, but I freed up some space and didn't get that last time)
    *TOAST- Using the DVD-Video from Video-TS (as recommended on various boards) does not work. It finishes but won't verify and nothing plays...
    *TOAST- using DVD-Video: The menu made in iDVD isn't functional. Can't choose different slideshows... Won't highlight, etc...
    *TOAST- using "Data" DVD-ROM (UDF):
    THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT HAS WORKED AND PROJECTS ARE ABLE TO BE VERIFIED. MENUS ARE FUNCTIONAL IN MY 2 DVD PLAYERS...
    I have the newest versions of Toast and iPhoto and iDVD. It's been very frustrating. Can't figure out why iDVD and Disk Utility won't burn... and TOAST only works using "Data" instead of Video... My Powerbook is a 60 GB 12" G4 1.33 model. I'm so tempted to upgrade to a bigger hard drive and a Superdrive but I don't know if that will help anything.
    Thanks for listening!

    Video DVDs are 720X480 (NTSC). Much lower resolution than straight iPhoto slideshows and your original photos. Nothing you can do about this until either HD-DVD or Blu-Ray technology come to the market and are affordable.
    iMovie will not be better resolution after it is sent to DVD. You could export to HD resolution QT files (H.264, etc.) and play those on computers with QT and keep higher resolution. But those won't play with commercial DVD players.
    Disk Utility will not burn the image.
    Can you verify the mounted image with Disk Utility?
    Can you burn other data DVDs with the finder and with Toast succesfully?
    You should be able to use both the Video_TS drag into DVD-Video for Toast and the direct image burn in Toast, as well as Disk Utility. I wonder if there is an error in the image, so see if you can verify the mounted image with DU.

  • If I bring in photos from Iphoto, am I using more disk space on my hard drive. I dont want to duplicate my entire file. I have 26000 photos in I photo.

    You have to duplicate the photos unless you want to use PSE as the external editor for iphoto. In iphoto, your photos are stored in a proprietary library, which should never be messed with by programs other than iphoto. Writing to the iphoto library from outside iphoto is the fastest way to corrupt it and lose all the pics it contains.
    So you can either set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from within iphoto, or you must export the photos from iphoto to be able to use them outside that program.

  • When I export photos to Iphoto slideshow they crop more after each play. Is this common?

    When I export photos to IPhoto slideshow they crop more and more after each play. Is this common?

    No. In fact, I've never heard of it before.
    It might help if you could give us some details. What do you mean by "export photos to iPhoto Slideshow"? DO you mean you're adding photos to a slideshow in iPhoto? Or hat you created a slideshow in iPhoto and exported that to the Finder?

  • I made a slideshow on iphoto and exported it to itunes. The original on iphoto seems to have changed (all on its own)! and I want to export the original back to iphoto so that i can burn it to a dvd. How do I export it back?!!

    I recently made a slideshow and exported it to itunes. The original slideshow that is saved in iphoto has changed, all on it's own!! The photos are different and in a different order.....not sure how that has happened! However, the one on itunes is how it should be and I want to get it back into iphoto so that I can burn it onto a dvd. Can someone tell me how to get my slideshow back into iphoto from itunes please? And any ideas why my original in iphoto has changed?!!! Many thanks.

  • I have recently updated to iPhoto 9.2.1, more by accident I guess. In the older version off iPhoto when I imported photos and gave the event his own name, this name was also used in the "masterfile"

    I have recently updated to iPhoto 9.2.1, more by accident I guess. In the older version of iPhoto when I imported photos and gave the event his own name (for exampample "110723 birthday son 2011"), this name was also used in the "masterfile", so I could find the file by his name ("110723 birthday son 2011") in the "masterfile" on my HD and copy and paste it from there to other computers.
    In the new version the file gets stored under a seemingly random number, which does not give me any information about the content.
    Is there a way to fix this? Would it be different in apperture?
    Thanks
    Harald

    I have Iphoto '09, version 8.1.2 (424). I am having an identical problem.  All my pictures are imported into Iphoto when I downloaded them from my camera.  Until recently, I thought that the pictures were actually saved in the library.  Since I need to crop my pictures for the web, and Iphoto doesn't do that, I purchased Photoshop Elements to do that.  To my surprise, when I try to get a picture from Iphoto to Photoshop, it can't be done. That was when I realized, after wasting a lot of time, that the photos are not in the Iphoto library.
    I started naming the pictures on Iphoto so I had a recognizable file name to open on Photoshop. Couldn't find it.  I looked in the Backup folder and the Transfer software folder (I have a Nikon camera), and the names I entered in the Iphoto display, could not be found.
    When I am trying to upload a photo to the web, I get the Finder folder showing  with an active folder called "Photos" under "Media", which only displays Iphoto and PhotoBooth.  This is a folder name that I cannot find in my HD anywhere when I look for it.  If I edit a picture with Photoshop, I am not going to save it back to Iphoto (not sure whether it will work properly).  How do I get my folder of edited photos to show when I want to upload a picture to the web?
    Where (the name of the folder) do I find the pictures I see displayed on the Iphoto library, including any name changes, keywords added, and so on?

  • IPhoto crashes when trying to burn CD

    For reasons that I cannot explain, everytime I am trying to burn a CD with approximately 200 pictures (1/2 a CD of 700MB), iPhoto crashes immediately after the "preparing to burn" phase. It is incredibly frustrating. I have plenty of RAM available. Anyone else having this difficulty? I have the latest version of 5.*. I haven't got iphoto 6.

    no solution for you, but i am getting the same issue.
    i was trying to backup my photos to install iphoto 6. after six successful burns (approx 4.2GBs) it started giving me the same problem. trying to burn a cd with approx 670MBs and it crashes right after the preparing disk dialog... any ideas?

  • I've downloaded osx lion but cant install, it says cannot verify maybe corrupted or tampered during download. And I try to download again but it can't. No more download menu. It just appear " installed"

    Can't believe no one tried to help you. If it is saying it's installed, have you tried to reboot while holding CMD and R together? it'll take you to the partition of Lion that has the install information, try re installing your os after verifying the disk in disk utility (also available after hitting cmd R). Instead of a disk, Lion makes a partition in your main HDD/SSD. The idea is you'll never have to boot from your original CD again.

    mmchisholm - just so you know you're not alone, I too am having the exact same issue as of latest software update bundle. Have to manually add each photo until Apple issues solution or minor software update.

    Duplicated posts tend to be confusing for the person originating the question as well as those trying to reply.
    Typically a moderator closes or deletes one of the duplicates when it is seen.

    A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
    This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • I made a slide show with music and random transitions in iPhoto.  I can't burn it to a DVD.  The burn button in iPhoto is not highlighted, and when I exported the slide show to iDVD, it lost the random transistions, and the disk won't play in DVD player.

    Two problems:  1. My iphoto slide show loses its random transitions when I export it to iDVD.
    2. When I then burn it to a disk, the disk will not play in a DVD player, but only on my MAC.
    Any ideas?

    The random transitions can only be random when played in iPhoto.
    If you are in the slideshow mode and use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option a quictime movie will be created of the slideshow with the first random set of transitions and imported into iDVD.  The transitions, however,  will be fixed permanently and will not be changed again.
    There is no way to get any sort of random behavior in an iDVD.  When it's burned to disk it's locked permanently.

  • IPhoto is paralyzed!  Cannot burn, delete nothing!  Help!

    I currently have about 8,000 pictures on my iPhoto -- version 05. The system runs very slow b/c of the amount of pictures on the drive. My harddrive says I have 38.44 GB free so I'm not sure why the program is running so slow but I'm thinking that this is the problem b/c it only happens in iPhoto.
    So I bought a back up drive and have backed all the photos up and now would like to burn them to DVD/CD as a second form of backup before removing them from the actual iMac. So here are the problems:
    (1) I did a test to see if I could drop the photos from the external drive back to the iMac/iPhoto. I erased a folder/roll from iphoto and also deleted the photos from the library. The photos will not erase. I have emptied the trash and repeated the process about 3-4 times. What is left is not images, but grey squares. What is going on?
    (2) Assuming I can figure out (1), can I drop photos from the extrnal back to iPhoto? Will they look the same? I saw some post about a Nikon D50 and external burns etc. not going well b/c of thumbnails? How does this play into it? Should I burn from iPhoto? From Toast? What do I need to do to prevent this problem?
    (3) I cannot even burn the photos from iPhoto to a DVD. It is telling me that the drive is faulty -- whatever other people with post on the same problem is happening here. It says the drive cannot "retry" I have burned from iPhoto onto a DVD-RW and with this brand so why all of a sudden is it not working? I have adjusted the amount of the burn to under 4gb but still not working. The furthest I get is the "writing to track 1" and it ejects.
    (4) I cannot drop to the external drive photos that may have the same file name unless I create sep folders. This is a problem b/c it limits the amount I can then burn on to a CD/DVD (toast seems to be working). I have tried to "rename" the folders by changing the ID to the date and time but the external drive recognizes them by the file name (photo image number) which inevitably will duplicate.
    (5) As you may be already able to tell, I am not the best at computers. Is there software that I can install on my extrnal drive that will make the external drive function or look like my iMAC?
    Can someone help or sort this out? I am petrified of losing any photos and dont want to make a mistake.

  • IPhoto Slideshow images will not burn to DVD -- Green Screen

    I'm trying to burn a slideshow I created in iPhoto '09 to a DVD using iDVD '09. The first few time I've done this, everything burns properly, including the DVD menu. When I select the "play" button to play the slideshow, the music that I originally entered plays correctly; however, the screen is completely green and none of the images appear.
    Slideshow has 136 pictures and three songs from my iTunes library. The menu in iDVD has no music and only one pictures, using a previously loaded theme from the default options. I am burning the slideshow to 16:9 ratio, NTSC, best performance.
    I have tried creating using the autoplay upon dvd insert option, which still did not work. Same green screen with slideshow music playing. I am currently trying to export the slideshow as quicktime movie then adding that to the project.
    PLEASE help. Any ideas appreciated.

    I did search apple's KB again but that's the only article I could find on Green Screen so I posted it to the forum for reference purposes only....
    Sorry it failed to help. I'll ask around for other suggestions and if anything comes up I'll post back.
    DRM is certainly a possibility as suggested above even though I've not seen it attached/related to an issue of this nature (lines yes, but rarely the entire screen).
