IPhoto Version 9.5.1 Not Responding @ Launch

I'm having this issue with iPhoto launching but never fully opening, then needing to force quit.
iPhoto Version 9.5.1
OSX 10.9.2
I dont remember the sequence of events exactly however I was saving a video MP4 from my desktop into the library so I could share it in a photostream with a friend.
The MP4 did not finish loading and then iPhoto quit responding.
I force quit iPhoto, and it gave me a message (as best I can remember) do you want to continue saving the MP4, to which I answered no. It has not been reponding at all ever since.
I have repeatedly restarted my iMac with the end results being the same. All other software seems to be working as designed.
Can I answer anymore questions that might help you, help me figure this sucker out?

That was unsuccessful. The same problem happened at the launch of iPhoto. I held the prescribed keys as indicated and after the launch it just kept going in the launching process. And again I got the message "Not Responding"

  • New version comes up as 'Not Responding' when trying to load Google opening page.

I downloaded the new version and and the following happened:
    1) It didn't overwrite the existing version, so I has 3.6 and 4 on my comp.
    2) When I asked it to open my default opening page, Google, it came up with, 'Not Responding' every time
    3) I uninstalled the old version and that made no difference, so I completely cleared my system of Firefox and then downloaded 4 again and 'Not Responding' appeared again.
    4) I uninstalled 4 - after checking my firewall settings on McFee - and downloaded 3.6 again and it works perfectly.
I use a laptop with Vista Home Premium and Firefox is set as my default browser.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Which version of Acrobat do you have ?
(Launch Acrobat and Go to Acrobat->About Adobe Acrobat menu item and check the version )
Also, can you ping following urls ?
    armmf.adobe.com
    armdl.adobe.com
    ardownload.adobe.com
    Are these urls reachable ?
Also, you can check the contents of host file /etc/defaults/host to see that none of the ips are redirected.
One more thing that you could try:
If you have firewall on, could you please disable the firewall and then try the update. Does it works now ?

  • I have a Windows Vista desktop and an old XP laptop, both run Firefox perfectly. However, my Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop will not run ANY version of Firefox--constant "not responding" messages. Chrome and IE9 work perfectly. Help!!

To mostly repeat my question, I am a longtime Firefox user on both an XP laptop and a Vista desktop. So here I get the most "capable" computer of all, a Toshiba Satellite T135 laptop, 64-bit Windows 7, 4G RAM...and it won't run Firefox at all! I have installed an uninstalled both Firefox 3, and just now, Firefox 4. No changes. When I open the software, it usually just locks up for a minute or so, and I finally get a "not responding" message at the top of the screen.
Obviously there is something corrupt in the guts of my laptop. But both IE9 and Chrome work very well--Chrome is blazing fast. I still prefer Firefox because it works best with some particular software I use for work...but I have to go to one of my older computers to do it!
ANY solutions out there? This seems like a very odd problem.
Posting from the Firefox website...using Google Chrome!

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Firefox stops loading new pages, displays "Loading". When I close it it goes. But when I restart it gives me "Another version is running, but not responding. This requires a power cycle reboot.

Version 3.6.18. Running on Windows XP Pro. (kept current)
This happens on a variety of pages. I get the little Loading thing in the tab, with the circle moving. So I X out (to exit Firefox). When I go to restart I get the error message "Another version of FireFox is running, but not responding". I give Windows the "three finger salute", and go to Task Manager, and do not see any reference to Firefox, and the Performance, and Processes seem OK. But it never seems to close the earlier Firefox, and won't let me open a new one. Any suggestions? Super Thanks for your help!

    Hi Andis.
First of all, this is completely normal behavior, although it's a bit irritating, I know. What happens is that when you close Firefox, despite the window disappearing right there and then, Firefox keeps running for a little bit until the whole closing procedure is completed. This can take a fraction of a second on fast computers, or can take a few seconds on slow computers or when Firefox is storing a large session (if you save your tabs). All you have to do is wait a bit until Firefox closes, and then open it again.
To see if it's still running, you can press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and then, under the Processes tab, you can see if firefox.exe is still there. If it's taking an unusual amount of time to close (which happens very rarely, and only if the browser freezes on exit), you can force the application to terminate from this application (task manager).
Firefox 4.0 will reduce by 97% the time it takes firefox.exe to close, so this problem will be basically erased for Firefox's next version.
Until then, I can recommend you this extension, which helps you restart your browser more easily and without bothering about closing times:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3559/
    Hopefully this will help.

  • Ever since version 5, FF becomes "not responding" every 4 minutes.

ff 5 and beyond (i even downgraded to 3.6) becomes "not responding" every 5 or 6 mintues for more the 3 minutes.
Right now is even worst. I DON'T have FF.
    Is unusable.
I tried disabling everything. still the same.
I tried uninstalling chrome cause ever since google+ installed chome on my laptop, FF started acting up.
But nothing seems to fix FF.
PLEASE ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't live without FF. :(

Safe mode is similar to private browsing. So you will want to run in normal mode.
Now if you choose to delete and reset then you have brought all the settings back to start up state.
Try starting up in the normal mode, if this fixes things then you are ready to go.
If not, then start in the safe mode with Add-ons disabled, once it starts up go to Add-ons and disable the last one installed and try a normal start up. Do this until the culprit is found.
If you don't care about the Add-ons then just create a new [[Profiles]] and be done with it.

  • Apparently the latest version of Firefox does not respond to the Mac's trackpad ability to use fingers to enlarge and reduce the size of whatever it is I'm looking at. Why?

I'm using a MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.7) and appreciate the ability to enlarge and reduce web pages by using a two-finger "spread" on the trackpad. Since installing 4.0.1, it seems I can no longer do this.
The previous version of Firefox allowed this.
Why? It's lots more convenient that using "command plus the + key".
Does this mean I go back to Safari?
    Thanks!

  • Why is Version 31.4 suddenly Not Responding

The program seems locked up. It keeps asking for a password that I know it already has ... but it goes into freeze mode whenever I try to type in the password or cancel. Thunderbird 31.4 is working just fine on my other computer.
I've restarted in Safe Mode ... it's taking forever to come on ... and again it asks for a password that it has, but it even when it gets it, it won't authenticate the mail server.
I've managed to open Account Settings ... but navigating is like going through mud ...
What would cause this major failure?
    Will uninstall/reinstall fix this?

    What is your anti-virus software?

  • Reader dos not respond after update installation

My system is Win7 and yesterday after installation of an update for my Reader 10.0 version the program does not respond. I tried to uninstall and reinstall it many times but the result is always the same: when I double click onto the Reader symbole, the icon appears for 5 seconds trying to load the program and then disappears.
    How to proceed?

    Two more things to try...
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Very Confused - iPhoto version 9.1.3 will not launch, just infinite spinning spokes

Ok, so I am a recent apple convert from Windows, which I have used all my life until I go a Mac Book Pro for Christmas, so I am a little unexperienced when it comes to all this stuff. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.7, and have had no problems until this past week with the iLife software. I went to open iPhoto on Thursday, and got this screen, with the infinite spinning spoke:
I wasn't sure what to do, so I just let it sit...for over 24 hours. I spent much time here on the support website reading the discussions. I have tried deleting the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the preferences folder, deleting the cache in the Library folder that was in the iphoto folder, I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager, tried the rebuild function and get the error: An error occurred trying to open the database at /Users/Becky/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Database/Library.apdb (14). I then noticed while in iphoto library manager that my iPhoto Library is version 9.1.2, which I assume is the problem since my iPhoto is version 9.1.3. When I hold the command+option keys while clicking on iPhoto, my computer does nothing, like it doesn't even know I clicked anything, however when I hold just the option key and click iPhoto it allows me to select a library, which in turn gives me the screen above. I don't know how to make my library update, or if that is even the problem. Somebody HELP!!

Make a temporary, duplicate copy of your library and apply the three fixes in order as necessary.
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your HD/User/Home()/ Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your HD/User/Home()/Library /Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Iphoto is not responding. I just finished importing all of my downloaded pictures (about 1,000) into iPhoto now this happens. I have version 9.5.1

iphoto is not responding. I just finished importing all of my downloaded pictures (about 1,000) into iPhoto now this happens. I have version 9.5.1. I am using OS X 10.9.5

Did you import an iPhoto Library from the old Hard Drive? Do you still have that old Library?
The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
    For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

Sorry but we need details to help
What version of the OS do you have? What has changed since iPhtoo worked?
What exactly is the problem - you say "it was not responding" - You downloaded a new version (what version)" -you can't find yoru photos" none of which is helpful
look in your applications folder - is there an Iphoto application there? If so get info and report the version
Look in the picures folder - is there an iPhoto library there? If so exactly (including exact error messages) happens if you double click on it?
what else can you tell us that might help us assist you?

  • Iphoto will launch but not respond

I just bought my macbook and upgraded it to Lion a few weeks ago, but I'm not quite sure which version of iphoto I have or how to find that out. I was taking screenshots of a website yesterday and opening them with iphoto in order to edit them. A few photos in, however, iphoto stopped fully opening. Everytime I launch it I have to force quit it, because as soon as it launches the little pinwheel comes up and I can't do anything. I'm not sure how to fix this problem. It's not dire that I import the photos to edit them. I just want access to my library back!
    Thanks in advance.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • Hi all, My Iphoto cant launch.. The programme not responding.. Any1 able to help??

IPhoto Application not responding after i sync my photos with digital camera..
I cant access to IPhotos..Trying restarting my mac it does'nt worked..

When Applications refuse to launch, it is sometimes caused by Permissions problems. These can sometimes be fixed by using Disk Utility's "Repair Permissions" feature. Message from this process can safely be ignored, unless they appear in RED.
If you do not also run Repair Disk or Verify Disk on a regular basis, it would be a good idea to run this as well, while Disk Utility is open. This flags or fixes errors in your Disk Directory. Error message from this process CAN NOT be ignored.
