Iphoto will no longer download from camera
I have been using the earliest version of iphoto for several years and it worked great downloading from my Canon Powershot S1IS. About 6 months ago some of the images started coming in with parts grayed out, not all there, etc. Then it went through the entire download process with nothing showing up. I upgraded to iphoto 6. Now it tells me the images aren't a recognizable format. Any idea what the problem is? The camera/card works at digital output places???

You might try downloading and running the 10.4.9 COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions. It's been noted and recommended by Apple for a number of fixes, especially when incremental updates have been applied via Software Update.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Iphoto will no longer open when attaching my Canon Eos Camera. I have checked the camera and everything is working perfecty. When I open it myself, Iphoto is working perfectly too. But now when I attach the camera, Iphoto no longer opens at all. Yesterday it did open after a really long wait but it kept saying that it did not recognize the "format" of the images....they were jpegs??? Then it flashed on and off and if I hit download at just the right second they would download. But today it won't work at all. Any suggestions.

IPhoto will not longer download photos from camera or memory card
Ok, I have iPhoto '08 and a Nikon D70 camera. This morning I went to download photos from the camera and it was slower than usual to connect to the computer. All the photos show up as usual but when I click to import them I get a message and it can't download any of the photos because they are an unknown format.
I took the card out of the camera and put it in a card reader and got the same message.
Neither the camera OR the card reader showed up as a device when I ran the image transfer app.
Using the card reader and the Finder, I was able to copy all the pictures to a folder which I was then able to import into iPhoto. After than I used the camera to reformat the card and took a test picture and got the same error messages.
So, any ideas?I found a solution in a couple of other threads. The main problem is when you start iPhoto from the dock, the unix process is owned by root, and not as it should be, by you. If you start iPhoto from the Terminal by entering /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/MacOS/iPhoto, iPhoto is able to import the images.
I don't believe that starting the applications from Terminal is a good solution, so I looked for another - reinstalling Leopard seems to be the best option, and it actually works. I can now import images to iPhoto again. -

Does the camera mount to the desktop so you can look to see what is there? Have you tried Image capture (in your applications folder) to import the photos? Have you tried unchecking hide previously imported to see what that shows? Do you have a USB card reader to try? When did you last reformat your memory card?
If you can get the photo off the card using any method do so and tehn use yoru camera's format command to reformat the card

There's an alternative. You can use the pre installed Image Capture app located in your Applications folder to import photos to your Mac.

Bridge will do the job. View > Sort > ByType. Then you can choose a group of one type and put the files in a separate folder.

My iTunes will no longer download.
All of a sudden I get the message "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the English version".
How do I fix this and run the English version again? .Start by trying to repair iTunes from the programs and features control panel.
Otherwise, for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

'Unplug' will no longer download. It gives you the box of what you want to download, but when you click on 'download' nothing happens.
2nd question: ant video downloader - I have been using that as an alternative, and have just discovered that many of the clips I have downloaded will not play! The problem is with flv files - some simply won't run, and some say 'VLC does not support the audio and video format .undf.'
Please advise if unplug can be fixed, and if the other files are retrievable in any sense, or if there is an alternative downloader that will work correctly.Upgrading to a more recent version (from 2.054 to 2.055beta) fixed this problem for me:

It’s often a question of permissions. Ensure that the folder you are copying into has read & write privileges.

My 4th generation iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. I tried buying a new cable and USB charging socket (and I bought one made by Apple), but that did not fix the problem. I restored it from iTunes, hoping that would work as well, but that failed. I am at my wit's end. Can anybody here help me? I've bought new equipment, tried rebooting, restoring, etc. but nothing so far has proven successful. If anyone's got a solution, please help!

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Bring the cable and Apple wall charger too.

You might also need to turn Preview generation off for any existing Projects. Select the Project in the Projects pane and use the cog button at the top of the pane to uncheck 'Maintain Previews For Project'.

I have many hours of home movies copied years ago to DVDs. Can I edit them using iMovie? All the Help instructions assume that you will be transferring info from cameras not from DVDs.

Podcast will no longer download
A podcast I've subscribed to for years will no longer download because of a permissions issue. This happened after I purchased new iMac. I made sure the computer was authorized. And tried unsubscribing and resubscribing. The same thing has happened with a few apps that I have purchased on my iPad.
I'm having this exact same problem. Here's how it happened for me:
I was in my house about to leave waiting for someone, and it dawned on me to download some new or recent episodes of a podcast. I went into the Podcast app and started them, and then locked my device thinking that the episodes would be downloading. Little did I know they weren't on my wifi for some reason. I found this out when the person I was waiting for was ready to leave so we could go somewhere and I unlocked my phone in the car. At that point I switched over to LTE and the oldest of these 3 episodes I wanted to download started downloading and was completed in seconds. When it got to the other 2 remaining episodes, they both just had the status of "Preparing to download..." With the loading wheel that tells you how much has been downloaded at 0%. Still right now it's like this. Could this just be an issue with LTE, the podcast, or any of iTunes podcasts as a whole?
