Iphoto will not load images

Good Day,
Im trying to fix and issue that I have with Iphoto.
What is happening Iphoto loads and shows the thumbnails fine for all the images that are in the Iphoto Library and the albums but when I go to load an image all it does is sits there an has the spinning broken wheel and then it does nothing.
I have tried some of the suggestions that ive seen in the disscusions but nothing seem to work.
It is running the latest version of Iphoto and all updates are done.
This is the Iphoto that came with Tiger that came with the Ibook
thanks
Tim

Hmmm,
How do you feel about importing the images from the library on the desktop to the new library?
Open iPhoto with the new library. To import the images from your old library
Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
Good luck!
Lori

All of a sudden, iphoto will not load....I receive this error:
Iphoto cannot be loaded because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure that iphoto works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application.  Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I reinstalled iphoto from the disk (so now I have iphoto and iphone (original) .....i reboot and then try to access the new iphoto....same error.  iphoto library appears ok. I can still attach a pic via "photo browser" button in email.

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

I was able to get it fixed. I had received some responses and they had me
recreate the library I believe.  It's been a while so I cant remember
exactly what I did. I have since upgraded to the latest i photo version and
have had no problems with it.

  • Iphoto will not load

Iphoto will not load and has not opened since my Mac book pro was new.  It will just stick in the start up mode with the pinwheel spinning, (no color, large wheel)  I am running os x lion 10.7.2, updated iphoto software to 9.2.1 and tried trashing iphoto.plist file with no luck.  Any ideas?  Thanks, Keith

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • SAFARI WILL NOT LOAD IMAGES

On my laptop safari works fine but on my G5 safari now will not load images or has a ? where images should be any help out there please

    Hello Fraser:
We may not have the problem isolated. Are you connecting the computer that "works" in the same way that the one that "works" is connected?
There is nothing inherent in either Safari or OS X that I am aware of that would cause the problem you describe.
A general "fix" for some Safari performance problems (after clearing the cache) is to trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restart (enter your personal Safari preferences). You might also trash the "favicon" file as that can slow Safari if it gets too large (~library>safari>icons).
I would also turn off all items in the Safari preferences under "autofill" and turn on all the web content boxes under "security."

  • Iphoto will not load ANYTHING

    Hi,
My iphoto 5 will open, but has stopped loading pictures. All it does it is tell me that it's loading, and nothing happens. I've waited up to an hour thinking that the computer was just slowing down (though I haven't even had it a year).
However, if I log in as a guest, the iphoto will work, and will even load images from my digital camera--but not when I log in as myself.
Any and all comments are welcome!
    thanks for your time

The files on the desktop you can put in the trash. The albums folder and the Albums.xml files were only used by iPhoto 4 and no longer used by iPhoto 5.
For the blank photos, you can try a rebuild of the library...
    Try this:
Before doing a rebuild make sure iPhoto's trash bin is emptied. You can do this by control clicking on the trash bin, or from the menu bar under iPhoto.
    Close iPhoto
    Duplicate the iPhoto Library folder
Drag the duplicate to the desktop (hopefully you have enough room on your hard drive for the duplicate.)
Launch iPhoto holding down the Command and Option keys until you see the rebuild options screen.
Choose the first three options. If you were missing photos in your library, also choose the last option. Be advised that you will get a roll of orphaned photos and it might be quite huge. Most of them will already be in your iPhoto library, but use caution when deleting anything from this roll until you are sure the photos are still in your library in another place. It might be a good idea to share/export this roll of photos just in case you need to import them again.
Back to the rebuild, depending on the size of your library it might take some time. When it is done, hopefully your photos will be there.
You might see some unexpected results as I did when I did a rebuild. Photos had been moved to wrong dates, video clips had lost their duration info and some were even orphaned from the jpg pointer file. It took me some time to straighten it out again.
This is the reason to make a duplicate before you rebuild, in case you do not like the result. If you don't like the result, close iPhoto, then delete the rebuilt library and drag the duplicate back into the Pictures folder making sure the name is iPhoto Library. Launch iPhoto and it should open the library in the Pictures folder.

  • IPhoto will not load, what can I do?

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and iPhoto 11' and version 9.2.3. I have been using my iPhoto quite frequently to upload pictures and all of a sudden, when I click to open iPhoto, the loading symbol will continue to circle, but iPhoto will not open. I am not at risk of losing my photos because I save them to a separate location as well, but I am now unable to load my photos from my camera to my iPhoto, which is a huge incovenience. Also, I am currently abroad so I am unable to go to an Apple store and receive help from the Genius Bar. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried to see if I have any sofware updates available, but there are none. I'm not very good at computers so I am afraid to try anything at the risk of making things worse. Thank you!

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called Originals (in iPhoto 09 or earlier) or Masters (in iPhoto 11)
    Drag it to the Desktop.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
From the recovered Masters/ Originals folder, drag the individual Event folders to the iPhoto Window to import them to the new Library.
Important: This is a last resort solution. It will be as though you never used iPhoto before. No edits, no keywords, no albums, no books, no slideshows etc. Just the original photos.
Takeaway message: You always need an up-to-date back up of your iPhoto Library

  • IPhoto will not load all the way

    Hey All,
I have tried to get iPhoto to load on my MACBook Pro but it willl not open all the way.  iPhoto will load the toolbar but then stop.  I am running OS 10.7 and I have iLife 11.  I have done all of the updrades and it still will not load.  I finally got discusted and completely removed it and reinstalled it.  I also repaired all of my permissions with disk utility.  Please assist if you can, I am at my wits end.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

    Neil,
    Sure.
If you don't have Pacifist, download it from Version Tracker or Mac Update..
Once you have Pacifist, insert your Snow Leopard Disk and then open Pacifist.
Scroll down through the files in Pacifist which show all the files on the Snow Leopard DVD.
Follow the path you already showed.
Once you find the file, click on it to highlight it and then have Pacifist install that file for you.
You probably need to restart but not positive. Restart anyway.
    Then try iPhoto....

There seems to be something missing ??
I havent got anything backed up on this.

    Neil
You need to re-install iPhoto because it's missing bits of itself:
    Library not loaded:...
    ...Reason: image not found
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’

  • CS3 Photoshop will not load images

I have just recently run into a problem with my CS3 Photoshop. When I try to go through File> Open and choose a .jpg .gif and even .psd file I get an error message saying: ' could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.'
When I open in Illustrator there is no issue. Or when I go directly to the file and use Open with, then direct it to Photoshop it opens fine.  However, if I need to open another image file I get the error message again. What can I do with this?
    Christine Cullum

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.
