IPhoto will not load or update

Lion 10.7.4, plus (prior to problem) originally iPhoto 9.3. now 9.2....(cannot update)
Had trouble with iPhoto not loading, followed Apple Support instructions and completely removed iPhoto from my system including .pkg files.
Re-installed iPhoto from from my original iLife 11 Disk, installed iPhoto successfully, try to launch iPhoto and told to Update, run update, seems to update OK, try to load iPhoto, told to update, run update and told ALL APPS ARE UP TO DATE, try to run iPhoto and told to update, run update and told everything is up to date..........   and so it goes on, and on, and on.............................
Can anyone help me ...please......

This didn't work for me.

Whenever I try to launch iPhoto I get this screen.
I have restored the Library from my Time Machine, nothing seems to work for me and I do not know HOW this situation arose in the first place, one day it was good and now NOTHING works anymore.............
I would like to completely remove every trace -- every trace -- of iPhoto from my system and start afresh again with my original iLife 11 Disk...... or download the the latest version of iPhoto if that's possible without having to pay out again......
Problem is, ---- How do I remove   - every trace - of iPhoto SAFELY ?

All of a sudden, iphoto will not load....I receive this error:
Iphoto cannot be loaded because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure that iphoto works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application.  Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I reinstalled iphoto from the disk (so now I have iphoto and iphone (original) .....i reboot and then try to access the new iphoto....same error.  iphoto library appears ok. I can still attach a pic via "photo browser" button in email.

I was able to get it fixed. I had received some responses and they had me
recreate the library I believe.  It's been a while so I cant remember
exactly what I did. I have since upgraded to the latest i photo version and
have had no problems with it.

  • Iphoto will not load

Iphoto will not load and has not opened since my Mac book pro was new.  It will just stick in the start up mode with the pinwheel spinning, (no color, large wheel)  I am running os x lion 10.7.2, updated iphoto software to 9.2.1 and tried trashing iphoto.plist file with no luck.  Any ideas?  Thanks, Keith

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • IPhoto will not load, what can I do?

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and iPhoto 11' and version 9.2.3. I have been using my iPhoto quite frequently to upload pictures and all of a sudden, when I click to open iPhoto, the loading symbol will continue to circle, but iPhoto will not open. I am not at risk of losing my photos because I save them to a separate location as well, but I am now unable to load my photos from my camera to my iPhoto, which is a huge incovenience. Also, I am currently abroad so I am unable to go to an Apple store and receive help from the Genius Bar. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried to see if I have any sofware updates available, but there are none. I'm not very good at computers so I am afraid to try anything at the risk of making things worse. Thank you!

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called Originals (in iPhoto 09 or earlier) or Masters (in iPhoto 11)
    Drag it to the Desktop.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
From the recovered Masters/ Originals folder, drag the individual Event folders to the iPhoto Window to import them to the new Library.
Important: This is a last resort solution. It will be as though you never used iPhoto before. No edits, no keywords, no albums, no books, no slideshows etc. Just the original photos.
Takeaway message: You always need an up-to-date back up of your iPhoto Library

  • IPhoto will not load all the way

    Hey All,
I have tried to get iPhoto to load on my MACBook Pro but it willl not open all the way.  iPhoto will load the toolbar but then stop.  I am running OS 10.7 and I have iLife 11.  I have done all of the updrades and it still will not load.  I finally got discusted and completely removed it and reinstalled it.  I also repaired all of my permissions with disk utility.  Please assist if you can, I am at my wits end.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • My iphoto will not open, I updated my computer to the OS X 10.9.5 maverick. Please Help!

I downloaded OS X Maverick 10.9.5 and Now my iphoto will not open. It says it can't use this version application on os x. HELP- What do I have to download to get  my iphoto back up? Thank you!

This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgradeto iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1

  • Iphoto will not load images

    Good Day,
Im trying to fix and issue that I have with Iphoto.
What is happening Iphoto loads and shows the thumbnails fine for all the images that are in the Iphoto Library and the albums but when I go to load an image all it does is sits there an has the spinning broken wheel and then it does nothing.
I have tried some of the suggestions that ive seen in the disscusions but nothing seem to work.
It is running the latest version of Iphoto and all updates are done.
This is the Iphoto that came with Tiger that came with the Ibook

    Hmmm,
How do you feel about importing the images from the library on the desktop to the new library?
Open iPhoto with the new library. To import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!
    Lori

  • Win 8.1 will not load after update from 8.0

I have a M6-K010dx with win 8. Was fine for 2 years untill updated win 8.1. Now can not access nor recover or re-install win 8. Was purchased at Best Buy but was not given any software or keys. No keys on bottom. When trying to re-install system it says partistion is not there for use. I have tried to call Best Buy and they say I must buy new software and recovery disks. I have tried to boot from USB but will not do it. Have changed in bios for boot order. I do not have a USB DVD but cnan probably get one. If I DL ISO I will not have key to use.
It would appear that as the screen flashes on and off that it may be a video driver problem but have no way of fixing if it is. Do not think I should have to buy new software as I paid for it at purchase and not sure if I did I could install from USB. Because of the lack of rercover partition not there I would think I was sold a defective system.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi @guaranteed ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your Windows 8.1 not loading correctly after an update. Windows 8.1 is just an update and would not remove your partition.
You can reinstall Windows 8 with any Windows 8 disk as long as it is the same version as yours. Windows 8 Home or Windows 8 Professional. It will install and update with no issues.
You might want to look at this document on some different options.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Iphoto will not load into iDVD after upgrade

When trying to open current and new projects in iDVD, the project opens, and plays, but the photos from iPhoto never load, the loading icon just spins on and on. When I open a new document, the same thing happens. The problem started after I upgraded to Leopard 10.5.6. Also upgraded to iLife '09, so I'm working with iphoto 8.0 and iDVD 7.0.3. I'm assuming it has something to do with the upgrades. I've checked to make sure all software updates are current, and they are. I am able to access iTunes thru iDVD without a problem. The themes appear with no problem. But the iPhoto images never load. iPhoto appears to be working with no problems. I am stuck.

Give these basic remedies a try. Quit iDVD and delete your iDVD preferences. To do this, go to your username> library> preferences> com.apple.idvd.plist. Delete this file. Then reopen iDVD; it will create a new preference file with all of the default settings.
Do a verify and repair of permissions using Disk Utility.
Restart your computer after these procedures.
    I hope this helps.
