IPhoto will not update

On a new MacBook Air with iLife’11 pre-installed, I downloaded and tried to install iPhoto Update v9.2.3.  I received the following dialogue:
“The version of iPhoto on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store.  Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available.”
I then signed into the App Store where it listed the iPhoto update under “Updates”.  I received the following dialogue:
“This update is not available.  You must have previously purchased the item being updated.  Tap Buy to purchase it now.”
How does one update iPhoto under these bizarre conditions?

Make sure your iPHoto application is located in the Applications folder and not in some sub or other folder.

Cancel the updates. Delete the apps. Redownload them from the Purchases tab in the App Store.

  • IPhoto will not update after Mountain Lion install

Installed Mountain Lion last week. Running software update results show an update available for iPhoto but iPhoto will not update to the latest version using the APP store update interface.

Have you bought it in App Store or in a disc? If you bought it in a disc, download iPhoto 9.3 and iPhoto 9.3.2. If it has been bought in App Store, delete and install iPhoto

  • Since installing Yosemite, iPhoto will not update

I have always used the same apple ID on my macbook since I purchased it. However, after I installed yosemite, it said I had to update iPhoto. I put my information in to update it, and now I have this recurring message. What do I do? I cannot access iPhoto and will not give me any other option when I try to update.

  • Iphoto will not update.  no burn under share

10.7.4  iphoto 9.2   I selected desired photos, hit share and no burn botton.  thought an update might help.  downloaded from mac app store.  the package icon appeared and I clicked it, error message reading, "the version of iphoto on this machine must downloaded through the mac app store, ck to see if update is available.  please help and thank you

Delete your current copy of iPhoto using this free utility > Download AppCleaner for Mac - Uninstall your apps easily. MacUpdate.com
Just dragging the app to the trash doesn't do the job.
Now go to the App Store and re download iPhoto using the same Apple ID it was purchased from. You will not be charged again.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
That will install iPhoto 9.3.1 which is the latest version available.
This will in no way interfere wtih your IPhoto library. You're simply re downloading the software.

  • Iphoto will not update/download since ios update

I recently updated to ios 10.9. When I tried to update iphoto to 9.5 I get the message,"The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." How can I fix this issue?

Several causes for this problem have been reported. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when it's resolved.
    Step 1
If possible, test on another network, such as a public hotspot (if the computer is portable) or the hotspot created by a mobile device. A network gateway that blocks some traffic, most likely on a company or university network, could be causing the error.
    Step 2
    Back up all data.
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, make a note of them and then deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server. Restore the previous settings if that happens.
    Step 3
Rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, there will be an indication that indexing is in progress.
    Step 4
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Iphoto will not update from 9.1.x to 9.2

On my Mac Mini, iPhoto 11 was restored from a Time Machine backup after having some trouble with the library. It shows as being version 9.1.5. I downloaded and attempted to install the update to version 9.2.1. It quits and refuses to install, with the message that the update requires version 9.1 or later. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  • My iPhoto will not update

    why won't my iphoto update?

Because you have a problem!  Maybe if you actually shared some information someone could help
    Two very common issues
1 - you have moved or renamed the iPhoto application
2 - you are trying to upgrade rather than update

  • After upgrading to Yosemite my I photo will not update

My iPhoto will not update because of a error with a previous owners password my brother owned the iMac before me he signed out of everything.

Signing out does not eliminate the problem: If he didn't erase the hard drive and reinstall the original OS, you will not be able to update the app(s) as they are tied to the Apple ID used to obtain them and the license is not transferable. This is spelled out in the licensing agreement; your options are: not to update apps and never reinstall the OS, or:
if it came with Lion or later, use internet recovery, wipe the drive, and reinstall the original OS; after that, update to Yosemite. If it came with Snow Leopard or earlier, use the install DVD to wipe the drive and reinstall, then update.

  • I updated to OS X Yosemite but iPhoto will not download, is saying because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. Now I cannot access ANY of my photos...

I updated to OS X Yosemite but iPhoto will not download, is saying because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. Now I cannot access ANY of my photos...how can I fix this????

If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library  and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto
If that does not resolve contact App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Iphoto 9.5 won't import photos from iPhoto 7.5.  Library will not update using the iPhoto library upgraded application.

iphoto 9.5 won't import photos from iPhoto 7.5.  Library will not update using the iPhoto library upgrader application.  Repeatedly says it can't locate photos even when told to cancel.  I think the photos in question are in Nikon RAW format.

iPhoto 9.5 immediately tries to "upgrade" my library using the upgrader.
iPhoto 9.5 asks you to run the upgrader to prepare the library for 9.5. It then will update the library to its format.
You need to do the following:
1 - go to your Applications/Utilities folder and double click on the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application.
2 - select Choose Library, navigate to your iPhoto library, select it and let the upgrader do its thing.
3 - launch iPhoto 9.5 to open and finish the conversion of the library.

  • IPhoto will not initiate. Downloaded update, but not change.  Any help out there?

iPhoto will not initiate. Downloaded update, but not change.  Any help out there?

If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
