Iphoto won't import photos from Kodak EasyShare Camera

I have alsways been able to import photos from my canon camera directly into iphoto. I just purchased a Kodak Easyshare Camera. When I hook it up to my computer, it won't import the photos. The camera does come with it's own EasyShare Software - but I really don't want to import it into my computer. I want the photos to import directly into iphoto library. My Canon Camera still imports into the library. Help.

sunnydays:
Does System Profiler recognize the camera when it's connected? What version of iPhoto and Quicktime are you at. If not the latest then I suggest you update to 6.0.0 and 7.2 respectively. I'd also update to 10.4.10 via the COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions.
Do you have iPhoto erase the memory card after each upload? If so, I strongly recommend against it as I've seen too many reports of incomplete uploads and complete erasures. It's safer to have the camera reformat the card after the upload.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Importing photos from Kodak EasyShare camera

I am attempting to import photos from my Kodak EasyShare CX7300 camera into iPhoto. I have uploaded photos from this camera onto the computer before, but for some reason, I am no longer able to do so. I have checked the cord connections of both the USB port and the camera, and both are fine. When I plug the camera into the computer and turn the camera on, the green light on the camera flashes and iPhoto opens, but the import process does not begin. I have been unable to find a way through which I can manually import the photos into iPhoto. I cannot install the EasyShare software that came with the camera because of restrictions placed on the computer by my school. Any suggestions, other than a new camera or a better computer? :-D Like I said, I've imported photos from the same camera to the same computer... why isn't it working now?????

    Jamie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A workaround until the reason for the problem is found is to use Image Capture to manually upload from your camera. It came with the Mac and is located in your Applications folder.
Have there been any software updates run just before this started occurring? What version of iPhoto are you running?
As a first step run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.

  • IPhoto won't import photos from iPhone

Hi - using a MBP 2.2, Leopard, iLife 08 and an 8gb iPhone. iPhoto used to import photos from the iPhone no problem - now it won't import it at all. Says it's an unreadable file (though a normal jpg).
What gives? Same issue trying to import two jpg's rec'd via email (and dragged to my desktop).
    Any suggestions?

I have this problem now. I have MacOS 10.5.1, iPhoto '08, and iPhone running 1.1.2.
In my "camera roll" on the iPhone are 260 photos, all the pics I have taken since I got the phone. I imported some of them weeks ago with no problems into iPhoto. But now iPhoto can't import anything from the iPhone.
iPhoto does know there are photos on the phone, because there is set of blank thumbnail squares that I can select to import. When I look at the photo info, I can see the file name, size, date, but all the other info is missing or incorrect. It doesn't have camera maker or model. Most worrying though is the height and width of the pictures are zero.
I am thinking that there is some cache file on the phone that got corrupted somehow. Resetting to factory settings might help, but I really don't want to lose all the photos that I took from the holidays.
I've tried the above suggestions and no avail: logged out and into the .Mac account; powered down the phone; reset the iSync history (interestingly, iSync does not recognize my phone when I do a device scan).
I did try removing some stuff to make room, but still no dice.

  • Can't import photos from Kodak EasyShare M1093IS

Had this camera for over a year and I have never had a problem until today. I can't upload any photos into iPhoto. Message says it's not a supported format. The photos are .jpg and I can see them in the screen where you select photos for import.
    Running iPhoto v 8.1.2.
Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you read any of the other topics regarding the Kodak Easyshare?
iPhoto no longer recognizes photos from my Kodak EasyShare V803
Just do a search in the form for "Kodak Easyshare" and you'll get lots of posts.

  • Iphoto won't import photos from my camera

My hard drive crashed about 2 months ago and I had a new one installed. It worked great for the first month but then began importing my photos very slowly and now has stopped. It will still import/snyc from my iphone but has since, stopped importing photos from my camera.
It recognizes that my camera is plugged in and the window pops up that asks if I would like to import duplicates or not. I check the box and then it stalls. I've let it sit for hours and nothing.
Now, with my old hard drive, I was current with the newest updates. I just realized whoever that with the new hard drive in that I'm back at 6.0.6.
Would it help if I updated iphoto one by one until I get up to '11? or is there another fix for this version? I wouldn't mind keeping it if it WORKED for me... or is it my camera???
I'm not computer savvy at all so please give specific instructions as if you are speaking to a child.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive?

  • Iphoto won't import photos from CD

Hi all! I am sure this is because we are new to this, but we cannot seem to get any photos imported to our iphoto library from photo cds. According to our iphoto book we bought and the manual we printed from here, it should be the easiest thing to do.
We have imported pictures from our camera, works just great, pops right up. When we put in any photo cd's, we have tried 3 different ones at this point, iphoto doesn't pop up and doesn't even seem to realize there is a photo cd in there. It would seem like the drive isn't reading them or something, but store bought dvd's and music cds work just fine. I even tried going into the disk utility and it will show pioneer dvd or kodak cd, whatever we put in there, but won't open or do anything from there.
We currently have 284 pictures in our library, and those were imported directly from our camera. We have Tiger, ilife 05 and we use an imac.
I hope I didn't miss anything, I would so appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Also, what do you mean by drag the photos to the iphoto window, I can't get them to come up anywhere where I could even tell that they are photos,so I am not sure how to drag them?
    David,
This presumed the CD would mount on the Desktop and could be opened by double clicking on it to reveal the folders and photos inside.
The problem here is with the CD or the drive. But since the drive works with other discs I suspect the CD. I don't know why the Mac won't acknowledge that a CD has been inserted.

  • IPhoto won't import photos from new 70D

Hi - I'm hoping for some guidance. I was a Rebel Xsi user for years, and just got a 70D. I used to be able to plug my camera in and iphoto would open up and import everything. Now, it only works sporadically, which is even weirder than not working at all. Right now I have 100+ photos from two important events sitting on my memory card that iphoto won't recognize. It imported about a dozen photos I took today without a problem, though. The photos are viewable from the camera. I can't recall changing any settings between taking those photos and the ones I took today. It doesn't make a difference if I plug the SD card directly into my computer; the software is still not recognizing any of the photos that are on the card. Any ideas?
    Using:
    Canon EOS70D
    Macbook Pro with iPhoto '09

Note that on a 70D the WiFi feature must be disabled in order to transfer images to your computer via USB method.
This only applies to the cameras that have WiFi (70D & 6D).
Also, if you do shoot in RAW format, then you'll need to make sure your computer is updated with the latest Camera RAW Updates from Apple.  This only applies to RAW... not JPEG.  Also I noticed you mentioned iPhoto '09 ... which is rather old and made me wonder if your version of OS X might also be old.  Apples Camera RAW updates are provided at the operating system level (because the same Camera RAW update is shared by Finder, Preview, iPhoto, Aperture, and anything else that might need to decode a RAW file.  My point for mentioning this is that if your OS version is too old then Apple may no longer be providing updates.  In that case you'd need to updgrade the OS (but Apple gives their OS upgrades away -- they don't charge for them.)

  • IPhoto won't import photos from Digital SLR after Yosemite upgrade

Has anyone else had problems with connecting usb devices and importing photos since the Yosemite update?
iPhoto "sees" the camera, but it doesn't show on the desktop and never preview or loads the content of the camera in iPhoto.
    • MacBook Pro 13", mid 2012
    • digital canon rebel SLR
    I tried:
    • restarting
    • installing the iPhoto Library Upgrader (and ran it)
    • viewing hidden files to manually move the photos
Thank you sincerely for any help offered. It sits at this screen indefinitely.

Have a read of this thread:
RAW files suddenly show up as "not supported" (Aperture 3.5.1, OS X 10.10)
It explains how to delete the Camera Raw bundle, and then reinstall it. This has worked for other folks with Raw issues.

  • IPhoto won't import photos from a CD

I have a CD of scanned images that I'm trying to import into iPhoto to make a slideshow. The import failed and I got a message that says the disc may be an "unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data."
However, I can view each photo in Preview just fine. Though when I tried to resave it onto my desktop, it gave each image the look of a negative (colors inverted). I can successfully transfer all the images from the CD to a desktop folder but can't resave them or import them.
Is there any way to recover these photos?

    Yes
    U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
This is a CYMK profile designed for printing full color on a web press using coated stock
you must have a RGB profile to use photos in iPhoto - sRGB is the prefered - adobe RGB is not good
since you have a lot to do click here for a link to Old Toad's page that includes an automator script to do this.

  • IPhoto won't import photos from my Canon EOS 20D

I can't get iPhoto to even recognize my camera. I have it plugged into the computer, turned on, then push the photo view button on the camera. It doesn't show up anywhere in iPhoto. Please help...

Use the Canon software that came with your camera to download photos to your computer, review those and select the ones you want in iPhoto then use iPhoto to import the wanted photos.

  • IPhoto won't import photos, doesn't detect camera

I've never had a problem uploading pictures from either one of my Canon digital cameras. However, when I now connect either camera to my computer via a USB cord, the drive doesn't appear anywhere and iPhoto doesn't recognize the camera, nor does it prompt me to import the photos. When I tried the Image Capture software, it told me that nothing was connected. The CF card is fine (it reads on a digital picture frame), and the USB connection is fine (it detected a video camera). I couldn't drag images from the camera to anywhere else, since the computer doesn't realize the camera is connected. (And yes, the camera is on and all camera settings are as they usually are.)
    Any thoughts?

YES! Found a working work-around to import 168 photo's taken in Ecuador with my HP Photosmart M637.
FYI, my observations and found workaround
    - Connecting camera -> iPhoto 8.1.1 starts up but doesn't display the connected camera to enable import
    - Overnight -> iPhoto still doesn't display the connected camera
    - Use Picasa.app (as suggested in this discussion (txs for that) -> configured OSX to start up Picasa, which indeed happened when connecting the camera but camera is not displayed to enable import
    - Used ImageCapture vs 6.0 (as suggested in this discussion) -> YES! It shows my camera and enables import into iPhoto vs 8.1.1 which I have done so my urgent problem has been solved ...

  • IPhoto says it won't import photos from my Fujifilm Finepix S1000 camera because it's the wrong format (jpeg).  It always has before... but I upgraded to Lion then went back to Snow Leopard and now it's not working.  Suggestions?  Thanks!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Iphoto 9.5 won't import photos from iPhoto 7.5.  Library will not update using the iPhoto library upgraded application.

iphoto 9.5 won't import photos from iPhoto 7.5.  Library will not update using the iPhoto library upgrader application.  Repeatedly says it can't locate photos even when told to cancel.  I think the photos in question are in Nikon RAW format.

iPhoto 9.5 immediately tries to "upgrade" my library using the upgrader.
iPhoto 9.5 asks you to run the upgrader to prepare the library for 9.5. It then will update the library to its format.
You need to do the following:
1 - go to your Applications/Utilities folder and double click on the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application.
2 - select Choose Library, navigate to your iPhoto library, select it and let the upgrader do its thing.
3 - launch iPhoto 9.5 to open and finish the conversion of the library.
