Iphoto won't let me import photos from my iphone5

I go to iPhoto on my Mac Desktop (Version 10.9.3) and plug in my iPhone 5 and it recognizes my phone. But when i go to click to import photos, none of my photos will show up even after hours of waiting. Other iPhone 5's in the house have the same problem. I've been able to import photos before with ease, but now they won't even show up!

With your iPhone connected by USB open iTunes.
When a dialog comes up in iTunes, confirm, that you trust your Mac on the iPhone., when the "Do you trust this Mac"  comes up on your iPhone.

  • IPhoto won't let me import photos from my camera

I've been uploading my pictures from my camera to iPhoto for a while now and suddenly it's telling me that it can't import the photos because they're unreadable files but they're all jpegs! What do I do???

Will Image capture (in your applications foldr) see them and bring to disk? If so then once they are safely off the memory card and on disk use the camera's format command to reformat the memory card
and can you impoprted to iPhtoo from disk? Will preview open the photos on disk?

  • Why won't my macbook import photos from a cd?

why won't my macbook import photos from a CD?

There are different kinds of CD Formatting.
You probably have a CD formatted for Windows only.
Do you see the CD in Utility Disc ? there are the informations about the Cd.

  • Lightroom will not let me import photos from either camera or desktop. I can see them in the preview part of Lightroom but when I click import, just says they can't be read.  HELP!

Lightroom will not let me import photos from either my camera or my desktop. They show up in the preview bit of Lightroom and I select the ones i want to import, then add my metadata info etc and file handling, but then when I hit IMPORT just keeps saying they can't be read.  SO FRUSTRATING.

You are copying the photos. Does LR have the permission to delete the files from its source location - as DdeGannes suggested? Maybe this dialog is misleading.
Did you try to just add files copied to the destination before - just for finding the issue?
If nothing helps: Any chance you can upload one of the jpg to some file sharing service so we can have look at it?
I believe DdeGannes suggested permission on the Destination folder (not the source folder).  Performing a copy requires only Read&Write permission on the destination folder, not the source folder. You need to go into your operating system and change the permissions to Read&Write on the destination folder. (If you don't know how to do that, go to your favorite search engine and type in Change Permissions Mac)

  • IPhoto won't let me import images over 12 months old from camera phone

I have a Blackberry 9700 and an iMac 27 i3. When I connected the Blackberry to the computer, the software would only let me import photos to iPhone that are 12 months old or less. Any ideas as to how to import the older pictures? Thanks for your help, I'm a complete newbie to Mac and to iPhoto!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. See if you can use Image Capture to upload those older photos to a folder on the desktop. If you can then you can import into iPhoto from there.
    Happy Holidays

  • Iphoto won't let me drag photos to a directory

I've been using iphoto for years to import photos from my camera, now all the sudden it's changed its behavior. After importing the photos, I drag them to the directory of my choice in Finder, but now it won't let me. There's a little icon with a circle and diagonal line that follows the photo when I drag it, and it doesn't copy to the directory, it bounces back to iphoto. Anybody know why this is happening? I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 and iphoto 7.1.5. I've dug through the preferences and can't find anything relevant, and of course, "Help" is worthless.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Rob

Well the reason it's not working is because iPhoto cannot find the files.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    As to the Workflow question
I don't want to use twice the disk space. I don't want a "Library". I just want the photos in the directories that I've created.
Then don't use iPhoto. Check out Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) for the job you want.

  • Since downloading Iphoto 11, we now cannot import photos from our Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ-15 camera. Any ideas out there as to why this is occuring. I can still import them onto my laptop which is running Iphoto9

Since downloading Iphoto 11 onto our desktop computer we now cannot import the photos from our Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ15 into Iphoto. However I can import them from the camera onto my Macbook which is still running Iphoto 9.
When I connect the camera and IPhoto loads, the spinning wheel just keeps on spinning and nothing happens, I have to Force Quit Iphoto to get out of the program. Totally frustrated, it would seem that it is an Iphoto 11 software problem.  Any suggestions out there?
    Regards

    Terence,
not sure what happens here right now, I didn't mean to be offensive. So please let's stay calm. There are some issues with Panasonics described in these threads, and they do sound similar to the issue I'm facing (somewhat hard to say, as a) these people do not use exactly the same camera as I do and b) the descriptions of their problems are not very detailed). I would retract the term "a LOT of issues". Sorry.
Back in September I described my issue here
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3308591?start=0&tstart=0
but then the discussion there stopped. Since we were still able to import images manually into iPhoto (and took care of leaving out already imported pictures ourselves), we could live with this as a workaround.
Since everything worked well recently on my machine with the latest iPhoto version, I decided to upgrade iPhoto on my wife's Mac (where the import problems occured) from '09 to latest '11 (9.2.1). However, after that iPhoto still could not import from the Panasonic's SD card (rotating ball when inserting the card reader, and rotating ball after starting up iPhoto afterwards even w/o card reader plugged in, until the next reboot). So I re-built iPhoto's database (32000 images - 12 hours). Didn't help either. It worked however with a Casio Z-1000's SD card. Thus I re-formatted the Panasonic card yesterday and it seems to work since then.
My point is that I consider it weird that a SD card works with one Mac and doesn't work with another, although both use the same version of OS X and iPhoto. And, I'm somewhat doubtfull that re-formatting the card will  solve this issue permanently. I believe that I tried to re-format the card already back in September, when I dealt with the issue for the first time, but I have no prove of that.
I will keep an eye on it and will report here if the problem comes up again.
    Thank you for your help.
    Best wishes,
    Thomas.

  • IPhoto always opens asking to import photos from Touch

    Hello,
Each time I connect the Touch to my Mac, iPhoto automatically opens, as if a camera is connected to the computer, asking if I want to import photos from the Touch?
How to disable this feature? What I want to do is export
    Thanks,
    Neil

tookyfes, I don't get an icon. The window does name my iPod Touch, but there is no option for "No application." Elsewhere in Image Capture preferences, "No application" can be selected for when any camera is connected to the computer. Then iPhoto no longer opens when Touch is connected, but my real camera doesn't open iPhoto like it used to. It's a mystery, considering the Touch is not even a camera (yet).
Thanks for the reply, but I think this may be a glitch in the software somewhere. iPhoto should not be assuming the Touch is a camera.

  • IPhoto freezing when trying to import photos from iPhone

iPhoto has started freezing when trying to import photos from an iPhone. The device is recognised but just get "loading . . . " message with no photos appearing. Has anyone else seen this?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • ITunes won't let me import songs from folders

hey for some reason iTunes won't let me import some songs, but it will others. I've checked and there is no difference between the songs, they're both MP3's, they have the same quality and they're even by the same artist!
Any ideas why and how I can fix it are helpful.

I having the same problem. I noticed that some videos were missing from my itunes TV Shows playlist. Also, when I tried downloading a file into my ipod, I got an error message stating that the file was not compatiable with my iPod. Only I got the file from iTunes! I've tried deleting everything and reloading with the same results. It will not upload several files. Most of which are already AAC. I've tried adding, importing, and copy and paste with all resulting in failure.
This is becoming a total pain in the rear. If it's not one thing, it's another. I mean every since iTunes 7, the bugs keep mounting, and that before I switch to a Vista OS.

  • Iphoto won't let me drop photos to photostream?

In iPhoto I'm trying to drag a photo from one of my folders and drop it into photostream.  It won't let me.  Does anyone know why?  Do I need to drag it from my library folder?  (I'm not at my computer, this is why I'm asking, as I can't try it at this moment.)

yes, photostream is enabled and I have seen it function properly.  What I'm trying to do is essentially the reverse.  I'm at work (without my imac) trying to talk my husband into dropping the photo I need into photostream from my macs iphoto, so I can access it with my ipad2 at work.  He is telling me it won't let it drop into the photostream folder....it just "falls off."  He was trying to drag it from one of my folders in iPhoto and not from the "photos" folder.  Wopuld this make a difference?  It would be simple to ask him to simply drag from my photos folder, but I cant imagine he would ever be able to find it (orignal photo,) to be able to try it.

  • ITunes and iPhoto won't sync or upload photos from my iPod

I have photos in my 1st generation iPod that I would like to remove and place on my computer.
When I hook up the iPod to my mini mac and open iPhoto, I am unable to import the images into the library.  It won't allow me to choose the Photos Database file or the two .ithmbs files in the Photos folder.
When I tried to sync the iPod, it tells me that the existing images on my computer will override and delete the existing photos in the iPod.
How can I convert the .ithmb files to .jpg and remove them from the iPod?
All the forum info and converters I find online are for Windows and I don't see anyone having this issue on a Mac.
Any advice would be helpful since I need to return this iPod to Apple soon due to the 1st gen iPod Nano battery recall.
    Thanks,
    Blue

If all existing converters are for Windows why don't you copy your ITHMB files to Windows and use the converters?
