Iphoto won't open after upgrade
I upgraded iPhoto. Now when I try to open the application, I get a message "the photo libray needs to be updated..." The spinning circle appears for a while, indicating 'work going on.' Then the application shuts down.
I download photos to iPhoto and I can view photos in Aperture.
Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

Iphoto won't open after upgrade to ilife 11
i install ilife 11 on my macbook and now iphoto won't open it say You can't open the application iphoto because it may be damaged or incomplete
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -
Iphoto won't open after upgrading to mavericks
I just bought my macbook air from a pawn store a few days ago. I just got the OS X upgrade to finish after upgrading itunes, iphoto, safari, etc. Now when I tried to open iPhoto it said I need to upgrade. When I go to the App Store and click update all, I get the following message: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
does this mean I can't open the photos I've uploaded or load any new ones? I bought this laptop for school and I'm honestly not a computer guy so this is extremely frustrating and I'm seriously considering just taking this back before my 30 day return window closes because this is nuts. The iPhoto on that machine belongs to the guy who hocked the machine. If you don't have his ID you'll need to buy iPhoto for yourself.

IPhoto won't open after reinstalling
iPhoto won't open after installing "bundled software only" from the Leopard cd. The thing is that I already had everything installed , I installed the bundled software thinking that it would install the bootcamp in my mac (I know , I'm stupid...It is because I never had a mac..
What shoud I do?
PS: other program are not working either , iWork and Garage Band.Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Start with the troubleshooting basics:
1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

IPhoto won't open after iLife update
iPhoto won't open after iLife update. How get iPhoto to funtion again?
What version of iPhoto? What happens when you try?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have. -

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Iphoto won't open after changing from os10.5 to os10.4
hello there
last night i reinstalled os10.4. i have been running leopard, but a program that i want to use is not yet compatible with it.
after installing it, it put all of my documents/files in a folder called 'previous system' on my hard drive. i then moved all the files back to their 'proper' folders (i.e. itunes, documents etc)
i moved the iphoto library and put it in my 'pictures' folder, but for some reason now iphoto won't open..it just bounces once in the dock and then nothing happens....
can anyone help? i've got some really precious photos in my library, and i'd be really gutted if i have lost them...
thanksi'm using 7.1.1

IPhoto Won't Open after Migration
Migrated hard drive content from a 15" MacBook Pro running Mavericks to a 17" MacBook Pro. iPhoto app did not appear in 17" hard drive. Downloaded latest iPhoto version from Apple web site. Now iPhoto won't open. Tried various suggestions from forums (Command-Option opening) and rebuilt files several times using the four methods shown on the window. No luck. Spinning wheel goes on and on and finally gives me an "iPhoto Quit unexpectedly." Can anyone give this neophyte a helping hand to show me how to recover my nearly 11,000 photos that seem to be running just fine on my 21" iMac with Mavericks?
Would appreciate any assistance.Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

IPhoto won't open after Archive and Install
Recently, my macbook won't boot up so I had to perform and Archive and Install. Now iPhoto won't open and therefore, I have no access to iPhoto Library. Does anyone know why this is happening? I don't have iLife '08 with me and my restore CDs would have the previous version of iPhoto on it. Would it be impossible to revert to an older version of iPhoto? If I delete the Previous Systems folder, will it affect this problem more (as I have only 5 gb of free space)? (Btw, I am update to date on Tiger updates)
Thanks,
munky11
Message was edited by: munky11My guess is that there is part of the iLife install in the Previous System Folder and you're going to need to re-install iLife 08.
Yes you can re-install v6 (or whatever is on your System Restore disks) but v6 will not open an iPhoto 08 library. You would need to create a new v6 library and that would entail losing all your edited versions, albums, books, keywords etc.

How to suppress Lookup transformation no-match output if all rows match.
