"iphoto won't send e-mail" Mac OS X 10.6.8 iphoto'11 9.2.3?

My iphoto when I select share and e-mail it refuses to send my photo messages now. It has worked in the past.

But setting Mail as your email client in iPhoto didin't work?
Give this a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
     User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Iphone 4 won't send e-mails via aol

My iphone 4 won't send e-mails from my aol account.
i have updated to the latest software which has made no difference, it wasn't working on the previous software.
I have removed and installed my aol account again, switched wi-fi on and off and nothing that I have read on other posts seems to work.
Does anyone have any other ideas, very frustrated!!

I am having the SAME problem. It is driving me nuts. Did you fix it?

  • IPhone won't send outgoing mail since upgrade to 5.0

iPhone won't send outgoing mail since upgrade to 5.0

I would manually go over each smtp setting and compare it with the mail providers guide
and if they were 100% the same then I would
get in touch with the phone company to verify if they were blocking the ports being
    used by the mail service
there is no general issue with ios5 removing out going mail services or blocking ports

  • Mail 6.2 won't send my mail???

I think mail just up graded and now it won't send my mail.  What is wrong?  What can I do.  I have check my password and reentered it but it doesn't work.

I've got the identical problem!  Can't send but can receive new incoming mail.
When I first installed OS 10.6 several months ago Send worked just fine but after several more months send  function stopped working.
I had the same problem with Mail app in OS10.5.8.....after many months of working without issue it eventually stopped. Receive also eventually stopped working in Leopard.
Just as in OS 10.5.8., in 10.6.8 I keep getting the notification that  my email password is not accepted as valid.
Was valid and accepted earlier but no longer.
The consensus seems to be that Mail app is not totally reliable.

  • My imac's mail programme won't send my mail!

The imac has my hotmail linked to it, and has never had any problems but suddenly it won't send mail.  It says it timed out when connecting to live.com.  I have tried reinstalling the hotmail account but it didn't fix it.  Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  My iphone is working fine with the account and it also works with hotmail over the internet.  I am stumped!

I've had exactly the same issue over the past couple of days and this fix has just worked for me (thanks untzy) but I guess it hinges on you being with BT.
    1. Login to your BT home hub manager (this can be done using the router address located at: system preferences/network/advanced/TCP/IP)
    2. Input your router address into the web browser search bar
    3. Once on the access page you will need to input your wireless admin password (found on the back of your router)
    4. When you are on the home page, you will need to follow the following steps to change your device name:
    5. Select "A-Z" in the top right section of the page
    6. Click on "Home Network" from the available list of options
    7. Click on the Device in question (it should be showing as connected - I identified mine by the mac address, although it was named as 'unknown')
    8. Under Device Information, enter a new name (be sure this is memorable in case you need it again)
    9. Ensure Always use this address is set to Yes (it is by default)
    10. Click Apply.
You will then need to restart your computer - after this, hopefully the problem will be resolved....

  • My Mail won't send e-mails.

Seems to be since the last Lion update?  Was working fine and I haven't changed anything.  Still receives, but won't send.   I did double check the account, but it seems to be right.  I did connection doctor- it shows 2 accounts (same name) though I only have one??  One connects and the other doesn't. Help...

    Becky,
Check your smtp server and check if your password is added. After ungrading Mail might have lost the password.

  • Mail won't send and mail disappears

When I receive emails they sometimes disappear before I can open them. Not all of them, just some. This happens most obviously when I use my iPhone to access mail. Now, sometimes when I write an email it disappears when I hit "send". When they disappear they're gone. Not in the trash, not in the junk. What's going on?

    Rudegar
I probably phrased my question wrong.....I just meant I use imap verses pop.
When I go into SMTP settings, it has "optional" password, which is supposed to solve the issue
with not being able to send emails, but no matter how many times I enter it and save the settings, it's gone when I go back in (because the emails still won't send).
    And other ideas?

The error message says that you don't have an outgoing mail server selected. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and select the gmail account in the left hand panel. Next go to "Outgoing Mail Server" :
It should read smtp.gmail.com if you are using pop. If it is blank click on it and it should display whatever outgoing servers you have configured. If the only option you have is to "Edit SMTP Server List" then you need to enter the information as shown below.
These are the standard settings for gmail pop:
You will also need to set password authentication on your outgoing (SMTP) mail as shown below:

  • My phone won't send outgoing mail.  Won't send some text messages and now when it's not on wireless and only 3g the internet won't load.  Help!

These are ongoing problems.  I really want to go back to my android.  This moring the problem was sending outgoing mail.  I have done a restart.  I have cleared my cookies.  Some text messages I have to send twice to non-apple phones.  When I'm not on wireless and I'm on 3g there is no point in even trying the internet.  Very disappointed in this phone.

if your having issue with your 3G service, then you should contact your cell phone provider as they handle cellular networks.
in the mean time you can try a reset, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for you phone to boot back up.

  • Won't send my mail

Why does mail occasionally refuse to send my mail. When it does I get a box that says "Cannon send message using the server..." It suggests using a different mail server, but I don't have one. It has a connection doctor button that says everything is OK. When this happens I can not send mail to that specific address again. I've tried new mail, hand typing in the address, closing everything and restarting, but that address is incognito to my computer.
It doesn't happen often but is very frustrating when it does.
    Geoff

    Have you tried:
    1. In Mail Accounts preferences click on the Advanced tab, uncheck the IDLE box if there is one.
    2. In your outgoing server configuration don't use any authentication or if your email ISP requires it be sure you use the right one.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • My attachments won't send in mail

It appears that I am sending attachments (pdf's, jpegs, etc.) through my sent file but the receipents aren't receiving them? Any advice. This is just a recent problem.
    Thank you!
    Susie

Are they not receiving the message itself, or just not receiving the attachment part of it? Are they behind a corporate firewall that strips attachments, or using a mail service that strips attachments that are found to have viruses, or limit the size of attachments? How large are these files you're sending, and are the recipients Windows users, or Mac users?
Have you tried selecting all the files you want to send and making a .zip archive of them, then attaching that to your email?

  • Gmail Won't Send In Mail on ML

So about a month or so ago, I updated from Snow Leopard to ML.  Ever since then, at random seemingly my Gmail (primary email) will just cease to send emails from the Mail app.
Only "solution" I've come up with thus far is to restart my computer in order to get it to work, sometimes.  It is just a huge pain and really starting to bug me.  The emails just sit in my outbox as "On My Mac"
    Help?

Adding to last post. My wife's iphone can no long check gmail account. Says wrong user name or password. We can however check emails on gmail via the browser however.

  • Mail 4.1 incorrect "sending from" settings, won't send SMTP mail

I've noted quite a few others reporting 10.6.1 SMTP mail problems, but I haven't seen my specific issue noted elsewhere.
I've been able to send using my IMAP AOL address via Mail and longtime SMTP settings until today. Now, Mail apparently is scrambling outgoing email addresses and mismatching them with the outgoing SMTP settings. For instance:
Using AOL address example [email protected] (showing correctly in the "From" window), the email will not send. The "cannot sent message using the server 'LG'..." dialogue comes up with the options to edit the SMTP server list or use the Connection Doctor. (All Connection Doctor reports coming back green, so the trouble's not there.)
Looking a little closer at the dialogue box, though, it says Mail thinks the outgoing message is being sent from an entirely separate email address. In a couple of tests, the incorrect "sending from" address changes - one time it was a different AOL account, the next was an entirely separate .edu account. Wish I could attach a screenshot, but the bottomline is: I can see the "From" field showing the [email protected] address, but the error message about reconciling the outgoing server settings shows "Sending from: My Name <[email protected]>"
Whatever the issue is, it is apparently not affecting (so far) my IMAP personal domain or IMAP gmail accounts - they're both sending and receiving normally.
So Mail apparently is trying to send AOL account mail, but it's not finding the correct SMTP connection because somewhere along the way it's shifted the "sending from" to a different account.
    Any thoughts?

I've been using Mail app with AOL accounts and the current settings for years with no trouble. This is new.
I still think it's a Mail app issue - it's clearly showing in the error message a different "Sending from" account from the one that's actually selected and showing in the "From" window of the email message. It's as though Mail is trying to apply the existing SMTP settings for an erroneous account to the outgoing message. It's either trying to send [email protected] mail with YY.aol.com SMTP settings or vice versa.
I'd be open to re-creating the AOL IMPAP accounts if I could avoid losing years worth of sent and received messages. I have everything backed up with Time Machine, but I've had very erratic email recovery issues with it since Snow Leopard too.
