IPhoto won't show my iCloud Streams

iPhoto 9.6.1 (910.42)
OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
1.8 GHz Intel Core i7
4GM 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
77.33 GB free on Flash Storage HD
My iPhoto Shared iCloud won't show any of My Photo Streams, just old photos.
I haven't been able to find any way to get them all to show so I came here to ask if anyone else has had this problem and, if so, what they did to fix the issue.
Thank you.
Rio

Do you have iPhoto's iCloud preferences set as shown in this screenshot?
If you do and it's not displaying the My Photo Stream or Shared Photo Streams try the following:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's iCloud preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • Lost power to external HD; Now iPhoto won't show photos

    Hi all,
This is a really easy one. I store all my photo from iPhoto '08 (Version 7.1.5) on an external HD. I accidentally disconnected the power to my external HD and now iPhoto won't load the photos. It created some kind of default folder where there are just 2 photos in it.
How do I tell iPhoto to point to the files on my external HD?
    Thanks

Eject the drive, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide /Volumes/ as the path, move any folders inside to the desktop or Trash as desired, and reconnect the drive.

  • IPhoto won't show my shared photo stream as an option when sharing a photo

    Hello all,
I am running Mavericks 10.9 and iPhoto 9.5.
I am trying to share some photos and videos from iPhoto on my iMac. I am the owner of a shared photostream, and when I select a photo or video, and select "Share," the shared photostream does not appear as an option.
On my iPhone, there are no problems sharing to this photostream. As far as I can tell, there have been no problems syncing with iCloud in general between my devices.
I have tried disabling and re-enabling my main Photostream, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I have tried selecting this option via System Prefs, and it too doesn't seem to change anything. The main photostream will show as an option for sharing when enabled, but the shared photostream will not appear whether it is enabled or not.
Again, I can access the shared stream via my iPhone, but I'd like to be able to do it as well from my iMac. Any suggestions? I have a feeling it's supposed to work a bit smoother than this...:)
    Thank you!

I had this problem too and people suggested switching off all the photosharing stuff, shutting down iphoto and then opening it back up and switching it all back on again.
This seemed to do the trick for me, but it's just taking a while for all the photos to download from the cloud again!

  • Iphoto won't show pictures of my connected iPhone4 anymore. Why?

since a few days it isn't possible to see or transfer photos of my iPhone 4 in iPhoto '11.
It was possible before with same iPhone and same miniMAC.
You can see, that the iPhone is shown in iPhoto and on the right top corner you see,
'Laden...' which should load the photos from the iPhone to be shown in the preview window.
BUT, this window won't change anymore altough after long time...
    (Please see screenshot below)
Does anybody has an idea how i can reactivate it?
Is it something i have to adjust on the miniMAC or on my iPhone?
    Thanks for your guess

Do other applications show the iPhone and its photos, for example "Image Capture (Digitale Bilder)"?
If not, then reset your iPhone: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
And if necessary, restore it: see:  restoring iOS  software  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If only iPhoto cannot show the photos on your iPhone, repair your iPhoto Library.
Hold down the keys ⎇⌘, while launching iPhoto and keep holding them down, until you are seeing this panel:  Try "Zugriffsrechte reparieren" and "Datenbank reparieren".
Before trying "Datenbank neu anlegen", don't forget to make a backup.

  • Exporting: iPhoto won't show all edits and modifications when exporting

    Hi there,
A problem recently cropped up in my iPhoto album.
    I'm using at 12" PowerBook G4, 1.5GHz, 250GB HD / 1.25GB RAM / OS 10.5.6 / iPhoto 8.0.2 (iPhoto '09). My iPhoto library contains 29,654 photos and 333 movies in 474 events and measures 119.2GB, including content since 1999. It's stored on a LaCie external FireWire drive.
The problem I'm experiencing is as follows:
Certain photos, no matter how I export them, be it via the +File -> Export+ command (to +File Export+ or Facebook (having installed the plug-in) or by dragging-and-dropping from iPhoto to the Finder, will not export with all (or sometimes any) of my edits (a.K.a., enhancements, changes or adjustments) made.
This is to say, for certain photos, I cannot figure out how to get the version of the photo I can see within iPhoto out of iPhoto so it can be shared or used elsewhere.
These +certain photos+ which won't export properly seem to be ones which have had more extensive editing done to them, specifically having had extensive shadows, highlights, definition or de-noise work done.
I have searched the Support Discussions and the web for other case and have found a several. Unfortunately, all of the helpful Support Discussions regarding this issue were archived (and closed) before they reached a solution.
Here is an example of such a case where the various Support Discussions users went to extensive effort to solve the problem but ended without a solution in August of 2008:

Thanks in advance for any support.

    LarryHN,
    Thanks for responding so quickly.

Yes, unfortunately I've tried this. I also tried exporting in every different format, without any luck.
    LarryHN wrote:
2 - select the photo in iPhoto and right click (control click) on it and select show file - this will open a finder window - see if the file it brings up has your modifications
This takes me to a file within a sub-folder of the Modified folder. This is an incorrect version of the photo. Choosing +Show Original File+ from the secondary-click menu takes me to another incorrect version of the file within a sub-folder of the Originals folder, as expected.
    LarryHN wrote:
3 - go to your iPhoto library and right click (control click) on it and show package contents - look in the modified folder (be very careful not to make any changes of any sort) and look at the photo there with preview and see if the changes show up
Here I ended up at another incorrect version of the photo, which was in a sub-folder of the Modified folder... I think this is the same file I was directed to when I secondary-clicked and selected +Show File+.
Thanks for the help -please let me know if you have any further suggestions.

  • IPhoto (and AppleTV) shows different iCloud contents

I have already posed a problem relating to iPhoto's use of the PhotoStream in iCloud at https://discussions.apple.com/message/23761310#23761310 and this is a sort of extension to that.
I was looking at the photos in my PhotoStream on AppleTV today and I noticed that there were a few very old photos there (up to 10 months old, in fact). I checked with the photos shown for iCloud on my MacBook Air and these older photos were not included there. Then I saw that there were also photos that are not included under iCloud on my iPad. In fact, on each "machine" (AppleTV, MacBook Air, iPad) the PhotoStream was different. (I didn't check my iMac, but I think that matched the iCloud on the MacBook Pro).
I assume this is a problem, or am I not understanding the PhotoStream incorrectly?
    (iPhoto '11 version 9.5)

    Hi David Neale1!
This may seem elementary, but you may need to make sure that you are signed in to the same iCloud account across all of your devices. This article will also include some further troubleshooting help for you:
    iCloud: My Photo Stream troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3989
Your device will keep up to 1000 photos, even if they are older than 30 days. Photos older than 30 days are removed from the iCloud server, so all devices may not have the same photos, depending on when you enabled My Photo Stream.
If you prefer to have only the most current photos in My Photo Stream on each of your devices, and delete the older photos:
If there are any photos in My Photo Stream that you want to keep, save them to your Camera Roll, then back up your Camera Roll and other data using iCloud or iTunes.
Turn My Photo Stream off in Settings > iCloud > Photos (on a device using iOS 6, go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream). Confirm that you wish to Delete Photos.
Turn My Photo Stream back on. iCloud will automatically push your stored photos to your device.
Repeat these steps for each device.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • Some pictures in iPhoto won't show or copy, but they're there

I'm using iPhoto 9.2.2. Did an update from the App Store just last week but didn't notice if this problem had anything to do with that update.
On some Events, some pictures seem to be missing. At first when I open the Event some of the thumbnails are there and some are thumbnails of one same random picture of wallets that I didn't even realize I had in my Library (I might have added it by accident). After a few seconds all of these thumbnails turn into grey ones, as if the picture wasn't there, but when I double click it I'm able to open most of the missing pictures normally - not all. Here's a screenshot:
When I first open the Event all of the missing photos look like the one with the wallets, but after a few seconds they all turn grey like the bottom ones, except for the ones that seem normal from the beggining. iPhoto says the Event has 88 photos and that includes the greyed out/wallet ones. When I open each of them, some show me a normal picture and some show me a blank page. I can't copy the Event or any of these individually. This is happening with more than one Event, but not all. I suspect if might only be happening with merged Events, but I can't be sure. I also suspect it might have something to do with pictures that have the same name as other pictures in my Library.
I would try to rebuild my library, but the whole reason why I'm trying to copy these pictures is that I just lost my backup drive. So this IS my backup right now. These are pictures I never really look at so I have no idea when this started. I also can't seem to find the real wallet picture to see what would happen if I deleted it. I think I must have saved it accidentaly from the internet.
    Help?

If you have the space available on your hard drive and don't aready have a backup copy of the library make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto won't show Photoshop Elements 6 editing.

When I drag a photo from iPhoto into Photoshop Elements 6 and edit then save it, the edits do not show in IPhoto. What am I doing wrong. Right now I'm doing a work-around of saving to desktop, importing and merging events but this is tedious. I thought Photoshop was supposed to be compatible with iPhoto. I am running iPhoto 8 with Photoshop Elements 6 on a PowerBook G4 and Leopard OS.

Although you've solved your problem there may be some info in this tip that will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Iphoto won't show pictures in events

Maybe it's something somebody else asked already but here it goes..
I've a Macbook pro, bought in septembre 2011, with latest version of Iphoto...
I downloaded mountain lion a few days ago and ever since Iphoto acts a little weird.
Today I wanted to show a picture from an event but there were no pictures, still if I open the photo menu with all my photos I can see them.
If I open some event and I click then on the latest opened event under the recent section I can see all of them.
The only thing I can see if I open an event is "no pictures" next to the arrows on the right corner.
    Can someone help me?
    Greets
    Tom

I added a couple of events to the Apple TV, they all displayed chronologically.
I removed the events from the Apple TV and changed one of the photo titles in an event so that alphabetically they weren't in the same order as they were chronologically, then added the event back to the Apple TV. I checked the event had gone from the Apple TV while I did this. Once again it displayed chronologically on the Apple TV.
As iPhoto had been set to display the event chronologically all this time, I removed the event from the Apple TV and set iPhoto to view by title (the order changed in iPhoto), then added the event back to the Apple TV. It was still in chronological order.
I then changed the date (made it a year earlier) on the photo I had changed the title on, originally it was somewhere in the middle both alphabetically and chronologically, now it was last alphabetically and first chronologically. I added the event back to the Apple TV and sure enough, it was displayed first.
Indeed whatever I did I was unable to get the event to show in anything but chronological order.
For the avoidance of doubt, you are viewing slideshows and not the screensaver aren't you.

  • Organizing a iPhoto album in a shared iCloud stream?

I created a Photo Album arranged and retitled all of the photos and shared it to iCloud as a stream. Now the stream reverted to ALL of the original photo titles and sorted by the meaningless titles???? How can I organize a shared stream?

Photo Streams only sort by date.  So if you want to get the PS to display in your order select the photos in your album and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Set Date to ➙ Date menu option with the checkbox checked to add a given interval between photos.
Then recreate the Shared Photo Stream.  That should leave the photos in the order you want.

  • IPhoto Won't show nef files

When I download my raw (nef) files, iPhoto converts them to jpeg.  When I transfer the file to Photoshop Elements 10 it shows up as a jpeg.  I want to edit the raw file.  Help

In iPhoto's Advanced preference pane check this check box.
Be aware that if when you edit the RAW file in the external editor you'll have to save it to the Desktop and import as a new file.  That's the only way iPhoto will recognize it.

  • IPhoto won't show my older iPhone photos anymore.

I always import my photos onto iPhoto. I upgrated my phone from iPhone 4s to iPhone 5. Now my old photos from my iPhone 4s will not show up on iPhoto. On the iPhoto preferences I made sure you can view photos from the past 18 months but still only the photos from my new iPhone 5 show up. I even rebuilt the library but it's still the same. I was wondering how I could get my old photos back.
    Thank you,
    Emma

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • IPhotos won't show pictures after replacing Harddrive

    Hi,
Recently I had my Harddrive replaced to a larger one and I was told everything would be transferred over. However when I got the MAC Book back there was no iPhoto application so I had to re-install the iLife disc. Once I did this it automatically imported all the pictures back on to iPhoto's and all the albums have come back however the pictures are grayed out and I cannot view them.
I have tried the command & control suggestion but none of the options work. I have also tried to rebuild using iPhoto manager but I get an error saying something along the lines of 'cannot rebuild as orignal files cannot be found'.
Unfortunately I was not able to back any of it up as my other hardrive was full & would not complete the back-up but I was told it was not necessary as it would all be transfered across.
Is there any other options that anyone can sugguest? I have over 6,000 pictures scanning the past 5 years which I really cannot loose.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Zoe

    Your reply is unclear.
Are your photo in the Masters (or Originals) folder. That's a straight yes or no.
    I ask because you say
    Unfortunately not
    and then say
    There are files there

    Hi Liz,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps to try if your Mac isn't recognizing your iPhone 5s:
