Iphoto won't update to 9.2

I just bought my macbook pro today and it says I have an update for iphoto 9.2. When I attempt to update it, the app store gives me an error saying "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (18)". Any ideas on how to fix this?

I just received my new macbook pro and had the same problem. Using Software Update didn't provide an iPhoto update.
After clicking to button to get rid of that error, I was presented with a message that the EULA had changed and I had to accept the new terms. Clicking OK to that prompt brings up the new EULA. At the bottom is the checkbox to state you've read and accept the new terms, however there is no button to actually accept and close the window even after clicking the checkbox. I closed the app store, re-opened it, and went through the entire process about 4 times. On the 5th time, clicking the checkbox finally presents a button to accept the new EULA. After that, I was able to update iPhoto.
So far, I'm not impressed with Lion. I've had the machine running for 15 minutes and this is the second problem I've seen with it. The first being that I couldn't change the desktop wall paper until I ran software update and rebooted 3 times. Then my wall paper changed. Of course, in system preferences, it shows the wall paper selected that I wanted, it just didn't change until after the update and reboots.
I know I'm responding to an old post, but it still shows up high on Google. I hope this helps others who may stumble upon this.

  • Upgraded to Mavericks, iPhoto won't update

I upgraded to Mavericks but iPhoto won't update. Receive this message: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." I have only had one user name. I can't get into iPhoto and no update will work. Says I have version 9.3.2 of iPhoto even though I updated.

Did that and now there is no update for iPhoto. Go to the iPhoto app and it says accept and I do but then nothing happens. Have I lost all of my photos??

Upgraded to Mavericks, iMovie won't update, says, "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." And then I get a null error.
However, I am using the only apple ID I have to sign in to the app store.

  • IMovie and iPhoto won't update on Used Macbook Pro Retina

I purchased a used macbook pro retina and did the usually initial setup for the laptop. My issue is that these two stock apps won't update in the app store. I recieve a message asking me to login using the ID that was used to purchase the app. I am assuming this is the ID of the previous owner , which of course I do not have. Any Ideas ???

The MBP needs to be disassociated from the original owners Apple ID. The original owner needs to call Apple Care to request that. Or if you have a sales receipt that proves you legally have purchased the MBP they may do it for you.
Then the MBP needs to be wiped clean and the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac installed using OS X Recovery. You can also reinstall the iLife apps, which you should accept into your Apple ID in the Mac App Store on the Purchaes pane.

  • Just upgraded to Yosemite. iphoto won't update.

I've downloaded both iphoto 9 and the updater, each one says it's installed then when I try to open it tells me I need the other. I don't get it?
    any ideas?
also worried I might have overloaded my mac. it's a few years old: processer 2.8 GHz Intel core 2 duo with memory 4GB 667 Hz.
already it won't open some of my adobe creative cloud apps, which is exactly why I upgraded to Yosemite.
    help?

If your iPhoto version was iPhoto 7 (08) before you upgraded to Yosemite then you need to download and run/apply the upgrade application to your iPhoto Library before iPhoto 9.6 can open it.  Had you run the upgrade app?

    Lion 10.7.4
I have installed iPhoto via the iLife '11 disc provided with my macbook pro. Upon attempted opening, it states that I require the lastest update. I performed the update and attempted to open again, but receive the same message - "need update." However, the system states that all software is up to date. How can I get iPhoto to open?

backup your iPhoto library, download the 9.1 update and install it

  • Updated to Mavericks, iPhoto won't update

I recently updated to Mavericks and have updated all of the apps that were ready for updates. I updated iPhoto but when I open it it still looks like the old version. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've restarted my computer several times, nothing is working. I'm using a 13 inch late 2009 MacBook (NOT pro), I'm thinking iPhoto 9.5 may be incompatible with my computer.

When I installed it on mine, I had to remove the icon from my dock bar and then go into the Applications folder and take the new one and drag that onto the dock bar to get it to load properly.  It looks like the new icon and loads up the new version.  However, there isn't really much as far as looks in the new version they didn't change a whole lot.  When you click on iPhoto in the menu bar and click on "About iPhoto" what version does it say you have?

  • IPhoto won't update - "Update unavailable with this ID"

Dear all, I recently updated to Mavericks (OS X 10.9.1) and since then iPhoto and iMovie do not work. I especially need iPhoto, which is now covered by a crossed circle sign.
The available updates for both appear under "Updates" of the Apple Store app, but when click "update" it requests my passwork twice and then it says "Update unavailable with this Apple ID - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled".
My Apple ID is unique, and I am using the correct one. The original iMovie and iPhoto came installed in the new MacBook when I bought it. It is a MacBook Pro 13-inch, Mid-2012.
    What can I do?

  • I have a macbook pro that iPhoto won't update to 9.0.

My macbook pro (mid 2010) wont update iphoto to 9.0 for free.  My imac updated just fine.  both machines were updated to lion via download at same time.  I cannot use photo stream on my mbp because of this.  Software update says my computer is up to date.  Iphoto update wants me to buy ilife suite upgrade when it should update for free.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

What version of iPhoto do you have now?
Note that the Marketing Name and the Version Number are not the same.
    So:
    iPhoto 09 is iPhoto v8
    iPhoto 11 is iPhoto v9
Updating is not the same as Upgrading
Updating is occassional bug fixes. In this case the Version number doesn't change. So, updating from v9 to v9.1.5 or v9.2.1 is free.
Upgrading is a new version with new features. For instance, from v8 to v9. This requires a purchase. It's not included in the purchase of the OS.

  • IPhoto won't update, says it is associated with my boyfriend's Apple ID?

To be honest, this has been an on-going issue since April when an update came out for iPhoto. It kept asking me to sign into my Boyfriend's Apple ID to update- and, because I am a little lazy, I never did. Could I just ask him for his password? Sure. But, I'm really not sure how or why iPhoto-- and just iPhoto-- became associated with his account. Now that Mavericks is out and iPhoto has a new fancy update, I'd like to embrace the future!
As you can hopefully tell, the Apple ID is greyed out and I can't enter my own-- short of bothering Boyf for his stupid-complex password every time I need to up-date this one program, is there any particular reason this may've happened? Occasionally we are lazy and use his iTunes account on my machine and IIRC when I upgraded my OS from Lion to Mt. Lion he paid for it, and I used his Apple ID then, but I wouldn't think that would impact the individual programs.
I've tried resetting the App Store under the Debug menu, and then seeking downloads, and I'm not sure if deleting iPhoto and then redownloading it as new will be helpful as right now, except for the constant need of updates, I can USE the App, and I do use it daily, and ideally don't want to lose functionality (but, at the same time, I think I could pull it back from Time Machine so I should probably embrace deleting it temporarily without fear.)
I don't really know what I am doing.

Ahh, thank you! What a pain in the neck. I figure I must have been signed into his account at some other point in time, maybe after... watching a movie..? [Though, that'd be the iTunes store, right? Not the App Store.] Anyway, some situation must've occured where I absentmindedly updated and iPhoto is now tied up with his account.
I'll go ahead and contact support to see if they can get me sorted. I suppose I can just ask him for his password, but.. oh, you know, it's a temporary solution and I guess I was just hoping to easily get iPhoto properly associated with myself again. Thank you!

  • Iphoto won't update because i didn't "purchase" it from the app store- but it came on my computer summer '11

I bought an imac that came with Lion on it and all the usual mac apps.  Now the app store wont let me update it until i purchase it?  why would i need to purchase something i already own?  Is there any way around this?

If you got disks with your system then you use software update to update. If you purchased the software from to app store or it came pre installed with no disks the you get updates via the app store under purchased software.
    Upgrades must always be purchased
