Iphoto wont import my pics.

Hiya,
I have a new camera an Olympus Tough. Iphoto imported about 5 pics and then refused.
I dont like olympus master and really want my pics in iphoto.
It tells me they are in an unrecognized format..
but this is the format:
/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Import/Originals/Roll 1/P1230001.JPG
Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Import/Originals/Roll 1/P1230001.JPG
Why are you trying to import pics that are already in the Library? iPhoto won't import pics that are in the Library folder - a precaution against duplicates.

  • IPhoto wont import my images?

Hello, I plugged in my iPhone to my MacBook Pro today and I wanted to import all my pictures from my iPhone to my computer. I opened iPhoto and clicked import all... and It gave me an error message saying "iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image. What should I do? I need to import all my pictures because I am running out of space on my phone.. Please help! Thank you

Go to Image Capture and use the Preferences there to set what happens when camera is connected.
As to the import problem: start with the troubleshooting basics
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • IPhoto wont import photos from iphone

I'm trying to import photos from my 32GB iPhone 3 into iphoto on my macbook pro. This is the first time I've had this difficulty. The curious thing is it did import 4 photo & 2 movie img files. After about an hour waiting while it processes 188 images it lists the jpg images and says they are unreadable. But they are viewable on the iphone and I can see the ones I email. What might be going wrong here? Any ideas appreciated.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

  • Disable iphoto when importing digi pics?

whenever i load pics from my camera, iphoto automatically opens. how do i disable this?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, and THANK YOU.
Aaaaargh! I've been trying to figure that out foh-eva! No offense to anyone who likes eyeFoto, but I didn't buy Adobe CS so that popping in a memory card launches a program that makes a cryptic hierarchy of folders that cannot be navigated in Finder without heavy medication!!!! Let me make my own freekin folders, in a way that makes sense! Ooooof!
Bless you, you have released me from eyePhoto heck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I figured out the fix for the Mac users having this problem. I connected my iPhone to my iMac and started iTunes. A dialogue came up in iTunes, I OK'd that and then OK'd the usual "Do you trust this Mac" that comes up on my iPhone.

  • Import still pics from video camera into iphoto with firewire?

I have a new panasonic pv-gs250. Although it is PC based, I was able to bypass their software and use imovie by attaching a 4 to 6 firewire to the dv port. It imported the movieclips with no problem. When I changed the mode on the camera from replay movie mode, to view pics mode (it can take stills on an sd card), it said that there was no cable connected. I tried using iphoto and importing from there, but it says there's not cable connected. There has to be a simple solution to this! Please help. thanks.
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

So, just to be sure, I used the USB cord and opened iphoto. Briefly, under sources, it said it was reading the Panasonic. I got up and when I came back, the Panasonic source was gone, and it said I couldn't close the window because it was importing files. Nothing new has shown up in the library yet. I also don't see anything counting down the loading, or importing. Do you think it's working, but just slow? Or is it having a hard time adjusting to the non-mac compatible thing, and it can't be done? thanks.

  • Iphoto wont save imported photos from iphone

Iphoto will import iphone photos, but as soon as iphoto is closed the photos are not saved to iphoto. Therefore I cannot download my photos off my iphone to iphoto. How do I get iphoto to keep the pics I import from my iphone?

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database
And OS X 10.6.8 is an OS - it is not a version of iPhoto - you version of iPhoto is something like 9.x.x or 8.x.x

My iPhoto wont display and i cant upload pics or even look at my library. how can i fix this?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see in the iPhoto window when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
Come on.  Give us something to work with here.

  • IPhoto won't import my pics from my iPhone.

When I try to import my pics from my iPhone into iPhoto, iPhoto scrolls through a few of them and then reports that there was an error downloading an image and quits trying to import the pics all together. It also stops showing the the iPhone is plugged into the computer when this message comes up. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There will may be more than one. Remove them all.)
If the issue persists try importing a different set of images to ensure iPhoto is functioning correctly.
Try going to File > Import to Library > Macintosh HD > Library > Desktop Pictures. If these images import then we know there is something wrong with the images on your iPhone or the iPhone itself.
Try importing the pictures using Image Capture found in Macintosh HD > Applications. If Image Capture can import the pictures you can then try importing them to iPhoto again.
Once you have the pictures off the Phone, try taking a few pictures and import again. If the issue persists with new pictures follow this article to restore the phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Hope that helps.

want help - give us details - with what you gave us one can not even make wild guesses
How did you backup and how did you restore? what versions of iPhoto and the OS. What exactly does "won't let me view them" mean? Why are you restoring a backup? what other details can you provide that might let someone actually help you?

  • IPhoto warning me that pics I'm importing are duplicates when they are not

I just got a new mac and am attempting to import my pictures from an external hard drive.   IPhoto tells me that pics are duplicate and shows me two thumbnails that are not duplicate pictures.  To be honest I do not know if the filenames are duplicates or if it matters (they are stored in different folders on the hard drive).  How do I get iPhoto to just import these pictures and also keep the ones that it thinks are duplicates?

It is not clear what you are doing wrong according to your question.
If you could post the exact error prompt you are getting, that might help us find the problem.'

  • Why does iPhoto not recognize the .jpg pics from a Kodak C875 now? I can stick my memory card in the iMac and import them that way, but iPhoto will not import the pics from the camera.

Why does iPhoto not recognize the .jpg pics from a Kodak C875 now? I can stick my memory card in the iMac and import them that way, but iPhoto will not import the pics from the camera.

There have been many issues reported with Kodak cameras - serach the forums for them
Actually the best practise is to use a card reader to import your photos, verify that they are imported ocrrectly and wait at least one backup cycle and then use the camera's format command to reformat the card and erase it - this assures no lost photos and always having the card properly formatted
