  • IPhoto wont import photos from iphone

I'm trying to import photos from my 32GB iPhone 3 into iphoto on my macbook pro. This is the first time I've had this difficulty. The curious thing is it did import 4 photo & 2 movie img files. After about an hour waiting while it processes 188 images it lists the jpg images and says they are unreadable. But they are viewable on the iphone and I can see the ones I email. What might be going wrong here? Any ideas appreciated.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

  • Iphoto wont recognize memory card to load pictures

all of a sudden iphoto wont recognize the memory card to import pictures. when you put card in reader iphoto launches but you dont see the card on the left hand side and it doesnt ask you to import the pictures. If you remove the card you get device removal error - then card appears on left and import button shows up but nothing happens when you push the button??
If you go to Finder the card is there and i can "select all" and drag them to iphoto. This is really strange - please help?

If your card shows up in the Finder then you can still import from inside iPhoto. Do File > Import to Library, then navigate to the camera card. You can preview the photos, select the ones you want to import, and import them to iPhoto. This is actually my preferred method, since it allows me to choose exactly which photos I want to upload from my camera.
Don't remove the card reader from the USB port until you have ejected it properly. You can do that from in the Finder. Click on the little triangle eject symbol next to the name of the card (below your HD icon). When the card disappears from the list it is properly ejected and you may safely disconnect the card reader.
I don't know why the card suddenly stopped appearing in the iPhoto Source List. One thing you can try is to use your camera to do a low-level format of the card. This has been known to improve a card's performance. The second thing you can try is to delete iPhoto's preference file. Close iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist, then move that file to the trash. You'll have to reset iPhoto's preferences back to your liking after you launch it.

  • Iphoto wont tranfer pictures from iphone

I cant transfer pictures from my iphone to iphoto because i get an error message saying "Error downloading image.
iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image"

    Hi there...
I have had the same problem... I have been using my iphone camera for a few years without a problem. Suddenly one day I could not upload to iphoto. I tried everything you can imagine. Nothing. I even tried to upload to Picassa. No Joy. I called Apple support and they suggested I email to myself whatever photos I wanted to keep and delete the remaining and weed out the offending photo/file... This was not an option. I decided to trawl through my photos one by one and I suddenly noticed that some of my photos on iphone were taken in HD. I remembered I started taking some photos on HD just to try it out. I only had about a dozen of them. I then remembered that these photos were taken about the same time as I started having to upload problems. So I deleted all the HD photos. I re-connected to iphoto and guess what? .... IT WORKED!  ..... Happy days! ... Try it and let me know if it works for you! Good luck!

  • Windows 7 wont recognize photos or videos from my iphone 5's.

    Greetings!
I pluged both my iPhone 5's into my computer running Win7. Upon being prompted to import pictures it will read "No new photos or videos found".
Not even Adobe Bridge will recognize that the phone has importable files.
    Any idea?

Was your phone backed up after the game but before the deletion?
You can restore from that backup.
If you do not use iCloud, iTunes will backup automatically before syncing.

  • Iphoto stopped importing photos from iphone 6.

All of a sudden, iPhoto 9.2.3 stopped importing photos from my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2).  It says "All photos have already been imported" which they have not.  I still have photos in Camera Roll which iPhoto did not import.  At the same time, I started receiving this message which I plug my iPhone into the computer, "This accessory may not be supported."  Can anyone recommend how to return the iPhone and iPhoto to normal?  Sending photos via email to the computer wastes time.

  • IPhoto showing incorrect photos on iPhone "device" - help or feedback???

I've been having this problem for months and alluded to it in a previous post. It has followed my iPhone during a migration from 3G to 3GS and I'm guessing it's a bad file, but not sure which one...
When I plug my iPhone 3GS via USB cable iTunes and iPhoto both launch (I have iPhoto set to launch when camera connected in the app Preferences). In iTunes I have my 3GS set to sync several albums only (however, this problem occurred even when I had it set to sync ALL photos and albums). If I view the "Device" in iPhoto, however, it shows a bunch of pics which, though they exist in iPhoto, they are NOT on the Camera Roll, nor are they even photos that are in the albums that I have selected to sync. It's my understanding that they only thing I should be seeing in iPhoto under the iPhone device when the iPhone is connected is pictures taken by the iPhone itself and I select which of these to import. But, what is actually displayed is a random smattering of photos from my iPhoto photo albums... and I mean random. I also have numerous random "ghost" images which are empty squares with dotted line border and rounded corners which are interposed between actual images.
I previously had this problem but it seemed to fix itself after a restart of the iPhone (power off and then on) and permissions repair... though not certain if any of those actually fixed it or just coincidence. This problem persisted even after restoring from a 3G to my current 3GS and an upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 (actually 10.6.1 at this point).
I am certain there is a corrupt file somewhere but don't know where to start. Any feedback on how to fix this?

Following instructions in this thread to delete the DCIM folder completely resolved this problem in case anyone needs it:

  • IPhoto not accepting photos from iPhone IOS7

I have not been able to copy photos from my iPhone 4S to my macbook 1,1 (OSX 10.6.8) since I installed IOS7.0 on the phone. "file is in an unrecognizable format" and it's JPG.

    Export: File -> Export
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
    Copy: Use iPhoto Library Manager
But best to rebuild the library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Iphoto transfer of photos from iphone to iMac

I tried to export 1200 pics from iphone5 to iMac in iPhoto.  photos seemed to transfer and I deleted from my phone at prompt.  now i go in iphoto and these "new" event "folders" are empty. Where are my pics? I looked in icloud and I see 999 in "my photo stream" and most appear to be the pictures I was working with.  How do I get them to my event "folders"?  I am afraid my computer will sync with the cloud and I will loose my photos.  Please advise.

Thanks so much for your help Gail, some of the points you made helped me better understand iPhoto and icloud.  I ended up going to a store and getting help at the genius bar.  They could not figure out what had happened so they had to restore my phone from the cloud to the day before the problem started.  I lost a few minor things from 3 days (texts, photos) but got most of my "lost" photos restored back to my phone.  I have not yet imported them to my computer (a little chicken!).  I also signed up for one to one classes so I am going to spend some time learning more about iPhoto so I can better control my photos.
BTW something kind of weird - They restored my phone on Tuesday and it still says it is being restored.  I am sure it should be done by now!  It is plugged in and on wifi every night so not sure why it hasn't finished the process.  The only reason I am even aware of this (cuz the phone seems to be working fine) is that it says I have a software update to do and when I go to that window it says at the bottom "you can install this update when your iphone is finished restoring from the icloud backup."  I have another appointment next week so I figure I will deal with it then.
Thanks again for your help.  I appreciate that there are people like you out there helping to calm people like me when we panic!

  • Do I need iPhoto to get photos from iPhone to mac

    Heello,
I have the photo stream on in my mac and iphone.
I want to move photos to my mac.
Where do I find the photos in my mac?'
Is it so that this works only with and thru iPhoto, which I do not have?
    thanks

You can use iPhoto and/or Aperture.
iPhoto is part of the basic install on every Mac.

  • Iphoto cant recognize photo type

ive been having a few problems with my iphoto recently., it wouldnt load photos at all, it just unexpectedl quit. to fix this problem the plan was to create a new photo library and just import some of the photos back in, however i cant get this to work. i have put them in to the same place in "iphoto library_2", but they dont show up when i start iphoto. i have tried to copy and paste them , but it keeps saying "the following files culd not be imported (they may be an unrecognixed file type or the files may not contain valid data)" i dont understand because they workd fine for ages, and have only played up since my last import.

You're using the wrong strategy. Your original problem is most likely the result of some simple database corruption, but everything you're describing just makes it worse. Moreover, you cannot import photos to iPhoto that are already in an iPhoto Library. Rebuilding the library would have been a simple matter -- until you started manually mucking about inside the iPhoto Library folder.
The easiest thing to do at this point is to make sure all your pictures are in what's left of your iPhoto Library folder (or whatever its name might currently be) -- if they're in there, iPhoto will find them. Drag this folder temporarily to the desktop. Drag any other redundant folders you might have created in Pictures to the trash -- there should be no iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder.
Start iPhoto and have it create a new library. Quit iPhoto. Next, drag your photo folder from the desktop and drop it inside the newly-created iPhoto Library folder in Pictures.
Finally, start iPhoto while holding the shift+option keys. Don't release them until you're prompted to confirm your intent to rebuild. Click "Yes", then click "Save". You will have lost any album, keyword, or roll associations, but your photos should all be recovered.

  • Iphoto wont load photos in database

I had just downloaded new photos from my camera into iphoto and crashed (no power and not plugged in! oops).
Reopended, disk had been improperly ejected. Repaired photo permissions, reparied library now opens but without images. The esternal drive still shows 197Gb size. Have 2 iphoto libraries and the other is OK (not open during crash).
Anyone have a suggestion on how to open my photos again?
    OSX 10.10.1
    iphoto up to date

Since repairing the database did not fix things rebuild it - Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window
