Iphoto wont show events

I Photo will load up but cannot cannot see any photos in events. Any ideas

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How can I stop iPhoto from showing Events?

    HI Folks,
I've used iPhoto for a long time, and I am just completely frustrated at the existence of "Events."
Every single time I take a photo and import it, I get a new event.
Even worse, I have hundreds of unnamed "Events" because that method of organizing my photos makes no sense at all.
When I import, there are generally multiple "events" documented in one import.
Now I have to spend hours breaking up Events into smaller "Events" just to have it makes sense.
    Not very useful.
The worst usability offense with Events, is that iPhoto defaults to displaying the Events page when it opens.
Apple...I don't EVER want to see my photos organized by Events. EVER.
    MY questions:
    1. Please please tell me how I can remove the Events page completely.
    2. If that is not possible, please tell me how I can tell iPhoto to default to showing me the Photos page, NOT the Events page.
    3. Also, how can I view my photos on the Photos page without being broken up into events? (Without losing metadata like the date)
    Thanks,
-The Craw, former Apple Technical Writer Guy

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.
Make sure show event titles is off
and you can merge or split events to make them more useful - you can not "turn them off" since they are just one of several optional views of your photos

  • Iphoto wont show all photos of an album on top?

Absolutely new to mac, so bear with me, still learning basics of keyboard and mouse!!
When i open iphoto and select an album (all imported from pc via network or thru usb drive, none thru camera) only first photo shows and the film strip does not show on top. So, when want to select photos for, say, slide show or book etc, can not do it. On edit screen, all show on top as a film strip, but can not transfer them to slide show, or book etc. What to do?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    MACBOOK Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The general rule of thumb is that where you would use Control on a PC, you use Command (the Apple key) on a Mac. To select discontinuous items use Command-click. To select a continuous range of items you can Shift-click on the endpoints, and all items included will become selected.
To better become acquainted with your Mac and OS 10.4, try the Mac 101 courses. Or follow the link on that page to the Switch 101 course designed for users moving from PC to Mac. There is a lot of good information there.

  • Iphoto wont show my pictures in large format

my pictures will not expand large it just shows a "!" with a circle around it and it does on all my photos, it was working fine and then i lent my comp to a friend and now i have this problem please help

iPhoto cannot find the master files. Only the small thumbnails are available. There are two likely things that happened depending on how you store your images in the library.
    1. If you store your images inside the iPhoto library file (this is the default method), then your friend opened up the library package and moved or deleted or renamed the master images. You need to find out what he/she did in order to attempt to fix it. If the files were deleted, you'll need to find a backup to restore them. You do have a backup, don't you?
    2. If you store your images outside the iPhoto library file, then those images were moved or deleted or renamed. Or maybe the enclosing folders were renamed.

  • Iphoto wont show my photos

When I try to upload photos to my blog or on facebook, it just says Loading iPhoto images.... on the upload window and just stays that way.  I have never had problems before until I was in iPhoto and tried to close it and a small window came up saying 'iPhoto is saving critical information for your photo library but It dosn't go away, just stays there until I click 'later'. Please help. (I added screenshots to help)
I have a Mackbook - Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and iPhoto is version 8.1.2

It won't work that way as you have discovered.
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
Launch iTunes then select the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window.
Now select Photos from the manu.
Importing photos can be done using iPhoto but not PhotoBooth.

  • Upgraded to OS6 on iPad and now iPhoto doesn't show "Events". What's the deal?

iPad 2 iPhoto always showed Events but since upgrading to iOS 6, "Events" are gone. What is the fix?

Puchased iPhoto app for iPad and none of my photos except for camera roll that's on iCloud came up.  Tried to sync all my photos on MacBook to iPad, that didn't work. "Photos" app still has all my photos but nothing under events which brings me back to the original problem. Time to go to the Genius Bar.

  • When I open an event, including flagged items, the photos appear one by one, not as thumbnails, so I can't export more than one phot at a time. How do I get iPhoto to show the thumbnails?

I've tried rebuilding the thumbnail database, but that hasn't helped.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running?
Try moving the Zoom slider at the bottom of the iPhoto window all the way to the left.  Does that let more than one photo display in the window?

  • Iphoto not showing imported photos in events

I have been using iphoto for quite a while with very few problems.  Recently I have added an iPhone and an apple TV into my apple ecosystem.  I have recently noticed that my iphoto library is NOT showing photos imported from 3rd party sources such as my android phone, in the events section of the interface.  The photos ARE present in the 'photos' section which leads me to believe that they are IN the library.  But when i look at the events and select one say for 3/24 it will only display the photos taken from my wifes iphone and NOT the ones taken from my andriod and imported using the add to library function.  I have attempted all four options in the command-option iphoto startup and have gotten no where.
Many of you might that that this is a non issue as the photos are present in the 'photo' section.  but as i prefer to use the fullscreen mode in iphoto i do not have access to the 'photos' tab in full screen, only the 'events'.
could my appletv or iPhone or appletv be a contributing factor?  Is there an option in events to only display iPhone imported photos?
Any help would be appricaited I am pulling my hair out here.

1 - Photos and events are simply two different views of the same photos - your iPhoto library - so any photo that is in one is always also in the other - you are just looking in the wrong place
2 - the most common issue is incorrect dates on photos so you look in the wrong location for the event - in the photos view right click on one of the photos that you are not seeing in an event and show event
3 - another possiblity is the sort order of the events - verify it under the view menu ==> sort events
4 - No - it is not your Apple TV nor is it your iPhone

  • My external hard drive wont show up in the "Save to:" menu when I try to import videos

My old external broke so I found my old one and plugged it in and went to import some videos on imove from an sd card but my external hard drive wont show up on the "save to:" drop down menu. I've been on utility disk to try and repair disk permission but I can't because the button isn't lit up. I can only click on verify disk or repair disk. I tried both of these but it still wont come on the drop down menu. It is showing up on the left in the event library but it has a little yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark in it.
    Hope that all makes sense!
Any help would be very much appreciated!

Ok in disk utility it says Format : MS-DOS (FAT32)
Sorry Im not sure what you mean by can it connect via firewire? Sorry I'm a bit useless with technology haha

  • My iphoto wont open since i updated my mac, please help? it says i need to install an iphoto library upgrader which I have installed but still cant see my photos.

my iphoto wont open since i updated my mac, please help? it says i need to install an iphoto library upgrader which I have installed but still cant see my photos.

What version of iPhoto are you using? 9.6 is the current version.
    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • IPhoto - Hidden Photos - Events Thumbnail Display Bug

_*iPhoto - Hidden Photos - Events Thumbnail Display Bug*_
iPhoto 08 contains a bug affecting the display of images that the user has marked as "hidden." Specifically, when the user toggles the View-Hidden Photos menu option, the Library-Events thumbnail view does not refresh quickly or reliably to show or hide Events containing "hidden photos."
Sometimes all "hidden" photos remain visible when they should be hidden.
Sometimes all "hidden" photos remain INvisible when they should be visible.
This affects the Event thumbnail "key photo" if this photo was designated as hidden.
This also affects any hidden Event photos when the user "skims" over an Event thumbnail to preview its contents.
The issue is isolated to Events thumbnails. The problem does not exist:
    a) while browsing thumbnails inside a specific Event.
    b) while browsing photos in Library-Photos.
    c) while browsing photos in an Album.
    _*"Fixes" that do NOT work:*_
Software updates... I have the latest version of OSX 10.5.2 and the latest version of iPhoto 08, including all the recent security and graphics system updates as of 02/16/2008.
Maintenance... The issue is NOT resolved by rebuilding the database, rebuilding icons, or deleting the iPhoto preferences file. The issue can be reproduced in a separate user account after creating a new event in an otherwise empty iPhoto database.
After much tinkering around, the following is the closest I've come to a
    _*TEMPORARY WORKAROUND:*_
To *NOT DISPLAY* hidden images, go to the View menu and make sure Hidden Photos *is not* checked. Restart iPhoto, and the hidden images should now be invisible.
To DISPLAY hidden images, go to the View menu and make sure Hidden Photos is checked. While the hidden images are now visible elsewhere, they may still be invisible in Events thumbnails, so restart iPhoto, and then wait about 10 seconds for the Events view to refresh with all the hidden thumbnail images now visible.
If after carefully reading this you feel you have a definitive solution, please post a reply with your suggestions. Otherwise, please post to confirm if you can reproduce the problem on your computer running iPhoto 08 on Leopard. If so, please also file an official bug report with Apple. The more people report this, the faster we'll get it fix.
    .

My Acrobat Pro 9 has also this bug. I am using XP SP2. I have reported this bug at Adobe web site many times. I wrote to the Adobe customer care. I wrote about this on many different forums and I was hopping an update with this bug fixed. I installed all updates till now bu the problem still exists. I do not know why Adobe is not caring about this stupid bug. It is really, really annoying. In my experience with Adobe Acrobat for about 10 years, Acrobat version 9 is the worst version I ever worked with. There are a lot of glitches and bugs in it, expecially with fonts, web version creation, password protection encryption etc etc.
If you find any fix please post back on this forum.
    Many thanks,
    Shaju
