I want to process a picture in iPhoto11 (MBP, OS 10.8.3) with PS Elements 11: In iPhoto/Preferences/advanced I have chosen Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. When I try to process a picture in iPhoto the program PS Elements starts correctly, but the picture does not open.
What is to do ?
Most likely you chose the logical file instead of the hidden correct file. The one at the top level of the PSE 11 folder in applications is the welcome screen. You want the actual editor, which is hidden in the support files folder:

I recently (Jan 2012) acquired a MacBook Pro (MBP) running 10.7.4 and an AirPort Express. I also have an old PPC G4 tower (Digital Audio model) running 10.4.11. The OS software on both machines is totally up to date. AirPort Utility on the G4 is 5.4.2 and on 6.0 on the MBP. I bought a used AirPort card for the G4, I believe it is 802.11b compatible, and the wireless data rate is specified at 11 Mbps. Being a newbie to wireless, it took me many days to get these two machines to link up. This network is not connected to the internet, and there no other networks in the vicinity.
My last problem to solve is the very slow file transfer speeds between the two machines. The transfer time seems to vary depending on which machine I use to initiate the transfer, and which direction the transfer is going. For example: If I initiate the transfer from the G4 and send a 5.4MB file to the MBP it takes 1:32 (min:sec), while the same file going from the MBP to the G4 takes 27 seconds. On the other hand if the transfer is initiated on the MBP, going from the MBP to the G4 takes 2:56, while going from the G4 to the MBP takes 1:59. I realize that these times are not actual wireless transfer times but includes the entire transfer process.
Both machines and the AirPort Express are within a 4-foot radius. Both machines are set to radio channel 2. The AirPort Express is set for 802.11n(802.11b/g compatible) with WPA/WPA2 Personal wireless security.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I could connect them by ethernet if all I wanted to do was transfer files, but I would like to network them so I could use wireless internet. The machines are not always so close together, I did that to simplify the testing. With the very slow transfer speeds I am reluctant to move ahead with the internet step.

i bought a brand new MBP like 6 months ago and now it won't charge. I tried using a friends MBP charger of the same year as my computer but it still says not charging at the top right corner of the computer screen where the charging symbol is. This problem just happened out of nowhere because it was working the day before then the next day it just stopped working saying it is not charging. My MBP keeps freezing with red and black vertical lines. What's going on?
About once a week my early 2011 i7 macbook pro seems to freeze with these weird lines on screen. I was using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and had quicktime playing an mp3 in the background. Nothing out of the ordinary happened that I know of that could have triggered the computer locking up.
I took my MBP to the Apple store and they said it passed all diagnostic tests. They suggested that since it is sporatically happening, it may be weeks before an answer is given to the problem that I am experiencing. Here are some pictures I took when my mac last froze.Were you ever able to resolve this? My friend's early 2011 MacBook Pro with your same specs except with 10.6.8 just did the same thing while Google Earth 7.1.2.2019 was running. Never any other issues, just happened out of the blue.

stevie, a third party app called airparrot will give you the pretty much the same as mirroring and forks on Macs too old to mirror.

I have been using my apple TV seamlessly with all my apple products (Mac Mini, iphone, MBP, ipad). Everything worked perfectly until recently (I noticed the issue about 3 weeks ago), when the apple TV won't load and play any movies from my iTunes library located on my MBP. The Library loads, and I can see everything, but as soon as I press play, the spinning load icon appears and doesn't stop. Same when I play movie from itunes directly and send it via airplay. Desktop mirroring no problem.

8. Cannot access my library when my computer is asleep
For Apple TV to access your library while the host computer is asleep, "Wake for network access" must be turned on.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and select (enable) the "Wake for network access" option.
In addition, the network that the host computer and the Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) is connected to must support Wake on Demand feature. This works by partnering with a service running on your AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule called Bonjour Sleep Proxy.

MBP has become very slow and unresponsive
MBP has become very slow and unresponsive even when I'm typing. When playing media it skips to the point that I can not listen to ANY of my music files with out it pausing every few seconds. The movies freeze and skip as well. I've ran the disk veryfication, started in safe mode and even deleted the catches. Now Im lost and dont know what els I can do. Help anyone??

Why is my MBP Retina 15" continuously crashing and freezing within iPhoto as I flip through my photo albums ? This has occured all day now, with about 12 reboots and the problem presists. Problem started while sharing photos with facebook and now occurs while fipping through all photo albums. Have had additional problems with continuose freezing up and locking up in many other native and non-native applications, freezing all the time. This reminds me of window based systems !
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Repair permissions and restart your computer. If this works, one of your peripherals is the culprit. Otherwise, you should post in the iPhoto forum area in case your issue is software related rather than the Macbook Pro.

If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…

Yes, Vm lets you sett how much memory you would like to dedicate to the platform. So you should be running it with 2gb on Mac and 2gb on your Vm. If you ever run more games that would require more RAM space I would recomend upgrading to 8gb.
