Iphotos - shared in source list

My self and my wife share an imac and in iphotos in the shared  in source list it automatically shares with her Facebook account. Is it possible to add my FB account to the shared tag? I dont know what verison of iphoto I am running perhaps someone might be able to inform me how

Are you using the sam user account on the iMac?   If you want separate Facebook accounts in iPhoto, you need to use separate User accounts on your shared Mac. Only this way can you have different Preferences settings for sharing.
Only, if you both sign into the Mac from different user accounts, but want to use the same iPhoto library, you need to move the iPhoto library to an external drive, see this link:

Just updated to iPhoto 2011; the source list icons are NOT in colour as shown - Should they be? (grey icons very boring!)

That is one of the changes to iPhoto '11
It is not an option - suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

  • IPhoto 9.6 Source List icons

Running Yosemite 10.10.1 with iPhoto v 9.6 on my iMac and i've noticed the icons within the left pane Source List (e.g.the Library Events palm tree icon) are not rendered in color but are b&w.
Might anyone know of a setting such that these icons are rendered in color?
    thanks in advance.

There is no help for it.
Which iPhoto version did you upgrade from?
iPhoto '11 went all gray three years ago, with the 9.1.5 compatibility update for Mac OS X 10.7, when Apple introduced the new colourless GUI.  Some of the frequent posters here like it, because the colors of the icons  in the toolbar and source list do not distract from the colors in the photos, but it makes the icons harder to recognise on a small display.
You cannot enable the colorful icons again short of replacing all tiff images for buttons etc inside the iPhoto application bundle. That would be risky and had to be done over and over again, with each update.

  • Photo stream is showing up in iphoto recent but not web and I am not able to join the shared photo stream.  all of my software is updated.  can someone tell me how to get photo stream in the web source list? thanks!

Can someone help me get Photo Stream to appear under Web in the iPhoto Source List? I have updated all my software.  iPhoto 11, Mac OS X 10.7.5  All of my preferences are checked.  I am able to see the shared Photo Stream on my iPad, but not my Mac.  The Mac iPhoto photos from the shared photo stream are appearing in the Photo Stream (under Recent), but I thought they would appear as a shared Photo Stream in its own file/album (like on the iPad and iPhone)  - labeled with the shared Photo Stream's title.  Is this supposed to happen on the Mac?  Thanks!

So you are saying for it to do what i want: shared photo stream to appear in web then i need to upgrade.
    Yes
Does that mean i purchase the new software an it's not just an update?
    Yes
Your profile indicates your running 10.7.5.  For shared Photo Streams you need to be running 10.8.2 or later: The following is from  iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:  iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
So you'll need to upgrade to Mt. Lion.

  • How can I remove Facebook from the iPhoto source list?

Lately when I use iPhoto it will not let me quit and I have to force quit. I recently moved to college where there are several separate internet routers. I realized I still had iPhoto sharing turned on from using it at home and thought that might be messing it up, but even after I turn off sharing it will not let me quit. I think it is a problem with Facebook because it asks, "still syncing would you like to stop and quit?" whenever I try to quit the program. I would like to just remove Facebook from my source list, but I can't figure out how. It used to ask me to sign in to Facebook if I wanted to upload pictures but now it doesn't so I have no idea how to make it quit syncing.

I found the solution in the community
    Solution 1
Mac OS: Run the uninstaller in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder to remove the program listed as up-to-date.
Windows: Use the Programs And Features Control Panel to remove the program listed as up-to-date.

  • HT201317 I can not view my shared photo stream.  Does not show in source list. Help!

I cant view my shared photo stream from my source list.  This is preventing me from adding or removing photos.  Any ideas?

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream in iPhoto if both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account..

And it seems you must do this every single time the shared photo stream is updated, ie. photos added/removed.  this is pīss poor.

  • I cannot download photos from my digital camera to Iphoto (version '09). I have been able to successfully do this up to 4 days ago but not yesterday. My camera/device is recognized in the Source List but photos won't download for me to import to library.

I cannot download photos from my digital camera (via a cable) to Iphoto (version '09). I have been able to do this successfully up til 4 days ago but not yesterday (Dec. 25th). My camera/device is recognized in the Source List, but when it tries to download the photos, all I get are the words "Loading Photos" in the area where the thumbnail pictures usually display. The little "gear" symbol next to the words but it just goes round and round. Nothing ever downloads, and instead of showing me how many pictures there are to import it just says "No photos". So therefore I cannot import the photos to my library since they won't even download.
I was getting an error message a few days ago that my Iphoto library was getting full, so I emptied my trash in both Iphoto and on my computer. I had this same problem back in October and emptying the trash and getting rid of some photos did help (can I really be using that much storage space for the pictures?). But it didn't help this time.
Any suggestions as to what to do to solve the problem? I would try taking the SD card out and inserting that into the slot on the computer to see if I could load pictures that way; but the last time I did that, they wouldn't load. Not sure if I lost pics from the disc or not.
    Thank you,

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • IPhoto Library won't show up in Source List.

My most recently updated iPhoto library is located on my main hard drive.  Other older libraries are on a couple of external hard drives.  When I close iPhoto, reopen and hold down the Option key, I am able to choose which library I want to use.  I do so, but the most recent library will only leave the source list on the left of the iPhoto window with no photo.  What do I need to do to 'connect' iPhoto with this library of photos?  iPhoto 9.2.3

Sorry for not explaining fully.  On the source list, everything under "Library" and "Recent" is populated with the photos as they should be.  It is in the "Albums" list where all albums are blank (without the photos).  That is what is puzzling.  Anyone with a solution?

  • Can't get ipod to appear in iphoto source list

    Hi,
I've just come back from a holiday with my camera, ipod and camera connector and I want to transfer all the photos I loaded onto the ipod into iphoto. From what I have read, it seems that the ipod should automatically appear in the iphoto source list... but this never seems to happen with my ipod colour (4G) and iphoto (5.0.4). I'm hoping its just a simple thing I've overlooked... can anyone help me out?
    Thanks,
    yoz

Hmm, seems somewhat intermittent. Plugged the ipod in this morning and iphoto recognised it fine. Resolved.... for now!

  • Adding photo to iPhoto 9.2.1 slideshow reorders Source list

    Hi All
I have made a slideshow (100 photos) in iPhoto 9.2.1 and being careful duplicated the slideshow.  I then added more photos to the duplicated Slideshow source list only to find the slideshow re-orders the list of photos.  I've never experienced this problem before.  Quitting and reloading doesn't stabilise the Slideshow.
I managed to add another 8 by adding 1 then couple at a time.  But now trying to add more just 1 photo re-orders the list.
I've also turned off the music.
I never had a problem with 100+ slideshows with iPhoto before.  Apart from trying to change the lead photo which would cause iPhoto to freeze.
Anyway, has anyone else experienced this issue and can anyone suggest a way around this ?
    Thanks so much.  JJ

I've had this very same issue and it's making me very upset. I'm looking for an answer to this!

  • Iphone 5 not showing up in iPhoto source list

When I plug in my phone to download photos to iphoto iphone doesn't show up as device in iphoto source list-it does appear in itunes

Are you running the latest iPhoto (version 9.4.2)?

  • No source list in iPhoto 08

I just upgraded to a newer iMac and iPhoto 08. Photos were transferred from the old machine. I saw all of them one time. There is no source list, so after opening an event I have found no way to navigate back and am stuck in the event. How do I turn on the source list?

    Dale
Move your cursor to the extreme left of the Window until it becomes a +, then click and drag to the right.
If that doesn't work, try delete the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder

  • Iphotos Source list will not display...

I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone could offer... I have a new ibook G4 with iphoto 5 [5.0.4 (263) to be exact] I am embarrassingly baffled by this system, as I cannot get my Source list to display whatsoever, and am therefore unable to organize my photos into albums. My photo library is the only thing that displays. Whenever I attempt to create a new file the file disappears, I assume, into the source list which seems unfindable... I am a complete newbie at this, so I am anticipating an enormously obvious answer to this dilemma, but it is an answer that is absolutely evading me, left to my own devices! Any help would be extremely appreciated!!

    Hi Pamela,
Sometimes people can't get that source window open, even when they try to move the dot/dimple to the right.
First try to drag the button to show the column as show here
If that doesn't work, then you need to delete the Preference file. That info (size of the source window) is kept in the iPhoto Preference file.
    Quit iPhoto
Open your User folder, then open the Library in your user folder, then open the Preferences in the Library folder.
In the Preference folder is a file called com.apple.iPhoto.plist
For now, drag that file to the desktop. Launch iPhoto and see if the source window is there or if you can open the source window. If you can, that means that Preference file you dragged to the desktop was corrupt. Put it in the trash.
IPhoto made a new one when it was launched. Open iPhoto Preferences and set your preferences again and you are good to go.

  • Cannot find source list  in iPhoto

Cannot find "Source List"????  in my iPhoto.  Also  cannot  find photo library.  Thanks

what do you see? If you launch iPhoto does it work properly? If the source pane is not there move you mouse to the extreme left of the iPhoto window and drag the source pane open again
By default the iPhoto library is in your pictures folder - why are you looking for it?

  • IPhoto isn't displaying my source list

When I launch iPhoto, only the menu bar on the top appears. To view the photos, I need to go to View and choose Full Screen. It used to automatically open up with the Source List down the left hand side which made it easier to sort through and organise my folders (albums, events etc). Now I need to toggle between Full Screen or no screen at all. What has happened??
    Thanks.

    Greetings Monica,
While in iPhoto try going to Window > Zoom.
If that doesn't fix the issue quit iPhoto and remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto (anything with this in the name)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iphoto (anything with this in the name)
    Hope that helps!
