Iplanet mail server 5.1 sun solaris user management

i opened a new user using the mail server console, but when trying to send email to the new user it is considered as unknown..
Any suggestion ?

Iplanet mail server

Hello everybody,
I'm sorry perhaps this forum is wrong for my questions:
I need migrate iplanet mail server 5.2 to Exchange 2000 and my question are:
- Could i export address mail in a text file from iplanet for the import the file to Exchange?
- Is there any way to migrate iplanet LDAP to Exchange LDAP?

The messages in the mail store are simple text files, in rfc822 format. I don't know exchange, so I wouldn't know how to import such into exchange.
sun provides a sync tool called, "meta directory" that can synchronize your Directory to AD for that part.
Why would anybody want to move from iMS to Exchange?

Received an error message Mail server didn't recognize your user/passwork combination. How you I change my password to send the email?

Tried to send a photo, received error message The email server didn't recognize your user/password combination. How do I correct the password?

Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> Account Information -> Password. Tho' if it has been working in the past and suddenly you're getting this message without you having changed anything in your settings then it may be a problem at the server end. If that's the case then leave it a few hours and try again. If the problem persists after 24 hours then try changing your settings.

IPlanet App Server 6.5 on Solaris Installation failed

During installation of Application Server 6.5 I got the following errors:

Hostname figured out automagically by the iPlanet's setup script has fully qualified hostname followed by domainname somehow and I did not have a chance to fix it.
/etc/defaultdomain contains unixport
/etc/hosts has:
127.0.0.1 localhost
ipaddress raptor.mycompany.com raptor loghost
Applied all the patches recommended for Solaris8 per installation doc.
Installed iPlanet WebServer ( Enterprise ) 6.0SP4
Has anyone faced a similar problem with this server on Solaris 8?

Really I have the same problem with iAS6 SP4 under Solari 2.6.
I've got:

but I already have an installation with the SAME install.inf and userinput.log and it runs without problem. When I install it interactively I can't see this error msgs at all !!! but after all I can't connect like admin (I've got a msg "Cannot login....."
In my /etc/hosts I have all kind of names :-((

Mail server working sending emails between user accounts but not to other (outside) email accounts?

I am new to Mac OS X Server Mail and I am trying to set up. I have successfully started the mail services and created 2 user accounts. Those accounts can email each other back and forth, no problem; however, they cannot send/receive to other email addresses. Anyone know why this would happen?

setting up mail can is quite complicated.

this should give you some ideas where to look.
Have in mind that you need to do DNS set-ups, need to have a static IP address ( or use a DynDNS service ),very likely also add MX records etc. etc.

Weblogic 7.0 Server hangs on Sun Solaris 5.7

We are facing a problem with weblogic server 7.0 SP2 running on jre 1.3.1_01
Hotspot Client VM. The operating system used is SunOS 5.7 .
Symptom : The weblogic server hangs after running for around 8 to 10 hours . the
log file contains messages which says 'Connection created for Oracle Pool'

Whats the state of the client application
- Exception (PeerGone, No Router)
- or just hangs
Also, you could run WLS using the JRE that ships with it. AFAIK, its v1.3.1_06.

I am getting the following errors in iPlanet web server
Platform details: Sun solaris, SPARC, 8, iPlanet 6.0 SP5
Pls let me know how to fix this porblem

IPlanet directory server can't start in a user account - A bug?

I installed iplanet directory server 5.1 in Solaris 9. I am using typical install mode. I set UserA/GroupA to represent the directoy server that means the directory server instance running in this user account. After I input the user name and group name, it gives a very strange message, say "suffix must have a valid dn. Press any key to continue" After I press any key, it continue to do other setup. Once instllation done, if I try to login as that user account and start-slapd, it just give an error message, " iplanet/servers/bin/slapd/server do not have permission". I checked this directory, UserA do not have even read access to the directory.
So is this a bug in this verion of directory server/

It's very likely that you gave an Invalid DN for the Suffix of your directory instance...
The setup should have asked again the DN... It looks like a problem with the setup command.

Problem while installing iPlanet App server 6.5

when trying to install iplanet app server 6.5 on solaris 2.8, downloaded from the net, the installation hangs when displaying the progress bar. We have iplanet web server 6.0 sp2 installed in the machine. We also installed all the solaris patches it required. we tried 3,4 times,it is not giving any error message,just the installation screen hangs....

I haven't come across such an issue before but I would like to help. This could be probably because, the downloaded file may be corrupted due to come reasons. I would recomend you to give a try after downloading it once again. Please let me know your thoughts on the same.

IPlanet Web Server 6.1 ERROR ,URGENT

I've Installed iPlanet Web Server 6.1 in Solaris 9 I have installed iPlanet 6.0 too its working good but 6.1 is sending this error when strating up.

Global data in a servlet using iPlanet Web Server

Our configuration is an Applet->Servlet->JNI->C/C++ code.
We have C code that does a number of lengthy mathematical calculations. This C code not only uses its own global variables but, it is also comprised of numerous subroutines that all call each other, reading and writing global C variables as they go. These globals are all isolated to the C code shareable object (.so) library that is included using the LoadLibrary call when the servlet is initialized.
The problem is that in a multi-user environment (3-5 simultaneous users) we need to have each user have their own "copy" of the servlet (and the C code) so that users will not be accessing each other's global data. We can NOT have only one copy of the C code and define it as synchronized because the calculations that are performed can take a very long time and we can not hold off user requests while the firs user finishes.
Our hope is that there is a way to configure the iPlanet Web server such that each new user that starts up a copy of the Applet/Servlet combination will get their own "space" so that they can work independently of any other user. We have at most 20 users of this system and only 3-5 simultaneous users so we should not have a problem with memory or CPU speed.
If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it!

The C library is shareable. But you don't want it to be shared. That's your question summarized, isn't it?
You probably can't prevent it from being shared, so to prevent multiple use of it you would have to queue up the requests to be done one at a time. WynEaston's suggestion of having the servlet implement SingleThreadModel would help, but I believe the servlet spec allows servers to run multiple copies of a servlet that does that (as opposed to running a single copy in multiple threads).
Your other alternative is to rewrite the math in Java, or at least in some object-oriented language where you don't need global variables (which are the source of your problem). All right, I can already hear you saying "But that wouldn't be as fast!" Maybe not, but that isn't everything. Now you have a problem in queueing theory: do you want a single server that's fast, but jobs have to wait for it, or do you want multiple servers that aren't as fast, but jobs don't have to wait? That's a question you would have to evaluate based on the usage of your site, and it isn't an easy one.

TS3899 How do I check to see if the problem resides on the server (e.g., the mail server is not responding) rather than assuming the issue is with my phone and devise setup?

As of sometime after September 10, 2012, at 4:40PM, I have not been receiving any mail. Not on my iPhone, iPad, iMac, or MacBookPro. The trouble shooting help on Apple's web site is designed to help ensure my devise settings are accurate. However, I moved from .Mac to .me and now to .cloud and have operating with no issues for several months on the iCloud.
How can I check to see if my mail problem is really Apple's fault rather than double checking all my devise settings ad nausiam? I feel there is a server issue with Apple because none of my devises can receive mail, however, I do not know how to validate my theory with Apple. I get an error message telling me:
Cannot Get Mail
The connection to the server failed.
Apple says there is a mail server problem affecting 1% of users. However, am I one of the 1%? If I assume I am, wait for the problem to be fixed, and then learn I was not one of the 1% and continue to have mail issues, then I will be more frustrated.

I have the same problem since yesterday morning. I checked the systems status and still the same. I guess we are the 1.1% who has problem with their email.
