Hello, I'm using the iPlanet v5.1 messaging server. I've check the release note said it can support virtual hosting (1 mail server with serveal domain). But, I don't kno whow to configure it. Could you help, please ?

See chapter two of the Provisioning Guide, http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/messaging/ims50/pg/domains.htm#16678
I used the example entries on my home system, worked just fine.

  • Virtual Host on WebLogic Server 5.1

I need to configure my weblogic server 5.1 on windows 2000 server to make a virtual
    host address.
How I can do it ????
Thanks a lot for any help.
    Bye

    Hi Andy,
I think a good approach for you would be to use a proxy server --
browser -> proxy that supports virtual hosting -> WebLogic
Use a proxy which supports virtual hosting, and which can have a separate
certificate bound to each virtual host.
That way you can do SSL between the browser and the proxy, and you can
have the proxy do cleartext to WebLogic.
This situation gets around WebLogic's limitation of allowing only one
certificate per instance of the server.
You could also use 5.1 as the proxy in the following manner:
Run 3 instances of Weblogic, each as a proxy server, each bound to a
different IP address and DNS name, having its own certificate --
one instance for aaa.com, another for bbb.com, and a third for ccc.com
Then have each of these three instances of WebLogic proxy to your "app
server" instance of WebLogic on the backend.
    Hope this makes sense.

  • One Server, Two Virtual Hosts, Two Applications, Two Mix,...

In the same server I have two virtual hosts (site1.com, site2.com). For each virtual host I have a PUBLIC page (40, 50).
    The following accesses work perfectly:
    (1) http://www.site1.com/portal/page?_pageid=40,1&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
    (2) http://www.site2.com/portal/page?_pageid=50,1&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
... But the following ones also
    (1) http://www.site1.com/portal/page?_pageid=50,1&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
    (2) http://www.site2.com/portal/page?_pageid=40,1&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
Imagine that site1 is 'Coca Cola' and site2 'Pepsi' (page 40 is 'Coca Cola' and 50 'Pepsi'!)
    How to avoid it?
I think about two ways of solving it:
    1. To hide the url and to avoid the manipulation of the number of page. (Died the dog ended the anger)
    2. To do that the page 40 works only with the virtual host site1 and the page 50 with the virtual host site2.
    The question is:
How to do someone of these options?
    Thanks for the help

    Hi Sachin,
you're right with two different VM you can manage that, but this is similar to have two different server.  My goal is to use only a server (phisical or virtual)...  I think  with 8.8 version we can do it, but I glad if someone has some experience of this scenario..

  • Defining Virtual Hosts so the Server App does not hijack them?

Does anyone know how one might define manually define virtualhosts in Lion Server so the OS does not go and trash them, or mess with the conf files? Right now the server keeps stealing any virtual hosts I create manually and creating conf files to the standard of the Server App. The problem is I have several virtual hosts that have custom information in them and I need to restore the file whenever this happens. Any ideas?

Put all your config files in something unknown to Apple. I like to use 'vhosts' instead of 'sites'.
Then just add this to your httpd.conf...
    Include /private/etc/apache2/vhosts/*.conf
I would keep a copy of your httpd.conf at all times. Apple likes to wipe that out on system updates.

  • WAS and multiple virtual Host

I am currently evaluating Oracle WAS on Linux.
It works fine except if I try to have Spyglass serve more than
one virtual host. When I do this it stops with an Internal error
    after serving a few files.
    Q. Does anyone have Spyglass serving for more than one virtual
    host on the same port.
    Q. What could be the problem
    I use RH 5.1

Web is stupidly easy - Apache has extensive support for multiple virtual hosts in a single server and will happily support as many domains/hostnames as you can throw at it.
Mail is a little trickier since it needs to hook into some kind of directory server to validate user addresses.
Mac OS X's Open Directory does support this, but it's a little cumbersome (basically every user has to exist in the main Open Directory domain as well as having a secondary email address(es) in the other domain(s).
This can get especially tricky when you have users with the same shortname in different domains - for example if you give [email protected] a secondary email address of [email protected] and you then get a new user [email protected], you can't give the third 'joe' the address 'joe' in Open Directory since that's already taken. This means he'll have to login using different credentials from his email address. Confused yet? You bet.
If you're prepared to eschew Open Directory you can just use Postfix's built-in support for virtual hosting, but it's a little more complex to setup and support and is entirely command-line based (i.e. there's no GUI for setting it up or supporting it).
So, for that reason you might be prepared to setup multiple virtual machines for each domain. It really depends on how much the domains are related (if at all).

  • Virtual Hosts - What am I doing wrong?

    Hi,
I have been running virtual hosts on Tiger Server for over two years with no problems. Now I have installed a new server running Leopard Server and am trying to move the sites from Tiger to Leopard (on different machines)
No matter what I do on the Leopard server I can not get the virtual hosts to work. As far as I can see I have configured them the same way that they were on Tiger, but when you go to the domain for the virtual host you are taken to the default server.
If you disable the default server you get to the correct page, but that's probably because the virtual host is now acting as the default server.
I have * as the address. If I change that so that the default server is * and the virtual host is the IP address of the server then it works, until I try to add another virtual host and the same thing starts all over again.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
    Regards
    Craig

Ok that's weird. (or is it?)
If I change the order of the sites in Server Admin so that the default server is now the last entry, the vhosts suddenly work. This wasn't necessary in Tiger.
So if I have a list of sites like this:
    Enabled - <no domain> - Address: * - Port: 80
    Enabled - vhost1.com - Address: * - Port: 80
    Enabled - vhost2.com - Address: * - Port: 80
Then either of vhost1.com and vhost2.com are redirected to the site hosted under the default domain.
If I make the list like this:
    Enabled - vhost1.com - Address: * - Port: 80
    Enabled - vhost2.com - Address: * - Port: 80
    Enabled - <no domain> - Address: * - Port: 80
Then the server works as it should.
It's almost like the last entry is a catch all. Which would make sense since that is effectively what I use it for anyway. But I never had to do this in Tiger server, and technically what should it matter?
Or is this indicative of some other config error on my installation?
    Cheers
    Craig

  • Associating Default Web Application with Virtual Host

    Hi
We are trying to run several virtual hosts on the same managed server. However, each of those virtual hosts (e.g. bob.mydomain.com, john.mydomain.com) will need to have a different default web application (the rest of the deployed web applications will be the same between hosts). We tried to create default web applications with <context-root> in weblogic.xml set to / (also tried "") - however when attempting to deploy 2nd default web app an error message comes up:
Context path '/""' is already in use
So, it appears that we can't associate a default web application with a virtual host. Any ideas on how to solve it?
    Our Environment:
    Weblogic version: 10.3 TP, Windows
    Many thanks
    Jason

Is your webapp targetted to the correct virtual-host during deployment? It could be possible that your webapp is targetted to the default web-server instead of the virtual-host causing this error. Can you validate this from your config file?
You can also configure default webapps for virtual hosts by setting the default-web-app-context-root element of virtual-host element in your config file

  • Virtual Hosting Environment?

Hello Everyone, I'm RD West from South Carolina! I purchased a 24" iMac nad really like working on it with dreamweaver & photoshop for design and development. Now 2 weeks ago, I had to have the new 27" iMac with the i7 Quad Core - Its a power house! LoveIt!
So I went a step further and got the mac mini server with OS X Server 10.6.5 a few days ago...
After several reinstalls, watching video tutorials from Lynda.com, I have managed to get a standalone server up with dns, web, email, mysql/php for local domain. What a nightmare I had
I run FreeBSD when I first started hosting over 10 years ago I guess, moved to windows, trashed all windows and went with Gentoo Linux for a long time. Then when my client base grew, I switched to CentOS/DirectAdmin CP for quick reinstalls if disaster happens...
I want to have my company network on OS X server now and do virtual hosting but I am confused at workgroup manager.
The first install and first site which is the local site but I am on the front wire to the net I go in workgroup manager and add a new user and turn on mail and save - this creates a [email protected].. then user2, user3 etc...
What kind of mess will I have with 100+ sites?
What I need is some documentation of adding new virtual hosts and setting up mail accounts?
Can someone provide me links or docs with the best way to accomplish virtual hosting?
    Thanks,
    RD

    a big one
What I need is some documentation of adding new virtual hosts and setting up mail accounts?

Starts with the apple manuals... they do detail mail and web virtual hosting.
    Also review this:
    http://downloads.topicdesk.com/docs/MakingVirtual_Mail_Users_in_OS_XServer.pdf
that said.. you are going to have a hard time duplicating the functionality you have with your existing setup... OS X Server isn't particularly well suited as an ISP virtual hosting platform... the GUI tools only get you part of the way, then you are stuck with command-line and you'll wish you had CP back.

  • Apache virtual host with OSX Server?

I have been running OSX Server for a while now, and just recently I decided to get McMyAdmin for my Minecraft server. The web client for McMyAdmin runs on port 8080, but I wanted it on port 80. I wanted to use it with my domain, so I just created a sub domain and pointed it to my server. The problem is that OSX Server apparently doesn't let me use port 80, even when websites are turned off. I decided to delete Server and just use plain apache. This worked until I realized that my website was only accessible locally. I have all the correct ports forwarded, etc. But I get the error:
    Response Error.
    Technical description:
502 Bad Gateway - Response Error, a bad response was received from another proxy server or the destination origin server.
when I try to connect from outside my network. This is probably just some simple thing I missed but it would be nice if someone could just point out what I did wrong here. Back to the point, I want to know how to run the proxy to my web client on port 8080 AND ALSO run OSX Server with or without apache virtualhost.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eamon

  • 10.5.1 Broken Mail Server - virtual host configuration

    Hi,
I have been trying to set up my mail server (new 10.5.1 build) to run with virtual hosts. I read pterobyte's tutorial ( Making Virtual Mail Users in OS X 10.4/10.5 Server) and implemented his suggested workarounds. However, it doesn't seem to have worked. I am now concerned that I have screwed things up beyond reprieve and need help to get it working again.
To give a start, I have included my postconf output below:
    swallowtail:postfix serverconfig$ postconf -n

Same issue here. I am current on all system updates. I have noticed this with any photoshop cs3 jpeg file. When using "mail", attached photoshop jpeg files show up as a plain text document "What???" Using Automator produces the same results. I did not have this problem with 10.5.1. I can't mail out any photoshop jpeg files?!@%* I just got off the phone with apple tech support and they told me that Adobe has not yet updated their software to comply with Leopard. Come on. Cover flow in Leopard 10.5.2 is still not working with Adobe photoshop jpeg files either. They Still show up pixelated. Yes, I know the work around by going into photoshop/preferences/file handling/image previews: Never Save. Yea, sure that works, but that is something that not any Mac user should have to do. I have had more problems dealing with pictures on my Mac than my Pc by far. Anybody else? Solution? Better Operating System?

  • How to access Sql Server Express installed on Virtual PC from Host?

I have SQL Server Express 2008 R2 installed on Virtual PC. and on my Host machine i have SQL Server 2008 R2 ( Enterprise Version) installed.
Since Management studio that comes with SQL express does not support SQL profiler, i want to access SQL Server Express from the Host machine’s management studio which has SQL profiler.
But I could access it using VM’s ip address & instance name

    Hi lax,
Follow below steps in your Virtual Machine:
    1. Allow remote connections to this server
The first thing you want to check is if Remote Connections are enabled on your SQL Server database. In SQL Server 2008 you do this by opening SQL Server 2008 Management Studio, connect to the server in question, right click the server and open the Server Properties.
Navigate to Connections and ensure that Allow remote connections to this server is checked.
    2.  Protocols for MSSQLServer
The next good thing to check is the SQL Server Network Configuration. Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager, unfold the node SQL Server Network Configuration and select Protocols for MSSQLServer (or whatever the name of your SQL Server instance is). Make
    sure that TCP/IP is enabled.
    3. The Firewall
If there is still no communication happening between your computer and the remote SQL Server you most likely need to configure your firewall settings.
A good first step is to figure out which port is being used by TCP/IP (and which you need to open in your firewall). You can do this by right clicking TCP/IP and selecting Properties. Click on the tab IP Addresses .
That was easy enough and all there is left to do is to allow inbound TCP/IP traffic on Port 1433 in your firewall. In Windows 7 this works something like this. Open the Control Panel and navigate to Windows Firewall. Click on Advanced Settings on the left hand
side and you should see the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. Select the Inboud Rules on the left hand side and click on New Rule on the right hand side. This opens the New Inbound Rule Wizard which you can use to allow inbound traffic on Port 1433
    for TCP/IP.
For more information, please refer to
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walzenbach/archive/2010/04/14/how-to-enable-remote-connections-in-sql-server-2008.aspx.
    In host machine:
After you have done steps above, you could use the SQL Server Management Studio in the host machine to connect the SQL Server Express R2 in Virtual PC. If you installed a default instance in Virtual PC, you could use VirtualComputerName to login the SQL
Server database engine. If you installed a named instance in Virtual PC, you could use VirtualComputerName\InstanceName to login the SQL Server database engine.
    Thanks,
    Maggie

  • How to set up Virtual Hosts in Apache (OS X Server 10.9)

I want to host more than one website on my mac mini with OS X Server 10.9
1.) I edited /etc/apache2/httpd.conf for uncommenting the include line:
    # Virtual hosts
    Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf
    2.) I edited /etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf and added:

        ServerAlias www.cammino-al-dente.net
        DocumentRoot "/Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/cammino-al-dente.net"

  • Plumtree portal server (v5.0.1) hosted on iPlanet Web Server (v6.0)

Has anyone tried to port the Plumtree Corporate Portal v5.0.1 portal server component to iPlanet Enterprise Web Server 6.0 (aka SunONE Web Server, v6.0 )? Plumtree doesn't support this, but I am trying to merge a custom SSO authenticator to the Plumtree portal (v5.0.1). The authenticator runs as a plug-in to SunONE Web Server and has been in place on our customer's web site for a long time now.
I have this working great in with SSL turned off, but I am having a difficult time getting past an error when I turn on SSL. I can get the portal server to run fine with SSL turned on through Tomcat on the same machine, using the same certificate and JRE. I can also get the SunONE server to run other servlet applications fine with SSL turned on. However, there appears to be either: (1) an incompatibility between SunONE's NSServlet plug-in that handles servlets and the Plumtree framework classes that set up replies via SSL, or (2) a configuration error in my setup somewhere. I'm hoping that (2) is the real culprit, but I've tried just about everything I can think of, and haven't been able to resolve this problem.
The server starts up fine and I can load non-portal content without a problem. But when I log in, the portal's main community page that should be returned is not being returned to the client. PTSpy (a debugging aid for the Plumtree portal) doesn't indicate any problems, so I know the content is being built by the portal correctly, but the built page is never being sent back to the requesting client.
Here is the error that gets logged to my SunONE server's error log:

at com.iplanet.server.http.servlet.NSServletRunner.ServiceWebApp(NSServletRunner.java:981)It looks like a Java classpath issue, but I've verified (even in the same log file with java debugging turned on) that the SSLSocket class is getting loaded. I've even tried moving the specification of the jar file containing this class (jsse.jar, part of the JRE) to the beginning and end of my classpath setting.
I'm using the same JRE that is bundled with the Tomcat release supplied with my Plumtree 5.0.1 installation (1.4.1_02). I can't get the JRE that came bundled with the SunONE v6.0 release to work at all.
I've posted a similar message on a couple other forums (Java and iPlanet-related, as well as on Plumtree's customer forum) and haven't found an answer yet. Does anyone have any ideas?

In case anyone else experiences this, I have apparently stumbled upon an issue with iPlanet's handling a specified JRE/JDK instead of the supplied JDK in iPlanet Web Server v6.0, SP5, though I found a way around it to resolve my problem.
I had been specifying a different JRE to run with through the administrative server manager. However, even though I was specifying to load all the JRE's jar files in my classpath setting, iPlanet was only loading the rt.jar file for my specified JRE. With verbose logging turned on, the error log was indicating that the other classpath specified jar files were being loaded, but apparently they were not being used. The JDK that was released with iPlanet appears to be being used for all other JRE classes outside of those defined in rt.jar. Since the JDK supplied with the iPlanet release didn't contain jsse.jar, which contains SSL support, it was not being loaded and was causing the problem I was seeing.
Instead of specifying the JRE of a different JDK that I was using, I changed the global setting in the administrative server manager to override the entire JDK. This has resolved my problem.
So if you specify a JRE to override the iPlanet supplied JDK/JRE, it appears that only the rt.jar file of the specified JRE will be loaded, and the jar files associated with the iPlanet-supplied JRE will be used for all other classes. Specification of a complete JDK to override the supplied one will resolve this.
