Iplanet MS 5.2 Too many failures to this host during this run skipping ...

Hello every body,
I'm DBA (Oracle) and I've been replacing a System Administrator who left suddenly the company, I work on iplanet messaging server 5.2
The company use a domain like email.company.xx it's the server root so we can send and receive without probleme
when we send from others domains which are hosted by this server we can't receive, I've tried whith outlook then I've received automatically Spams.
In the log file
1/ when I try from the domain root to another domain (in the same server) I have "initial status response expected"
2/ when I try from a domain to the same domain (not the root) I have "Too many failures to this host during this run; skipping this host: Try again later"
I thought of the tcp_local config, I checked imta.cnf but nothing.
How do I resolve this problem
Please help!
Regards

Messaging Server 5.1 is beyond the EOL Shane described previously. The date after which you can not even open support calls for 5.1 was 6 years ago, March 2004. See [http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Messaging+Server+EOL+Dates].
There will be no further bug fixes for 5.2, 6.0, and 6.1, but you can still open support cases about them. The "last bug fix" date for 6.2 is this month, June 2010.
The "Too many failures to this host during this run; skipping this host: Try again later" error means what it says: there have been too many previous failures trying to relay messages to this host, so the message is being put back in the queue to be retried later. So you need to look at what those failures were.
The "initial status response expected" error means that the smtp_client process on this system connected to the TCP port on the remote MTA but never received the "banner". So you need to look at what is happening on that remote system or in the network. Perhaps there is a firewall in between? You could use something like snoop to see what is happening at the TCP level. But...
You describe the messages having this problem as being "from domain to the same domain" and the mail.log_current info you provided shows it is from "[email protected]" to "[email protected]" and that it came in on the tcp_intranet channel and was enqueued to the tcp_local channel.
I wonder why mail for a user in some other domain is coming from that user and going thru your system. Is that your own domain and this is an MTA system rather than a message store system?
You could try setting LOG_CONNECTION=3 in option.dat (and do imsimta cnbuild; and imsimta restart job_controller). On current versions, that will give more information about the connection attempts. But I do not know if 5.1 had that option. If that option works on 5.1, it will give you the hostname it is trying to connect to. Then you can investigate either on that host or the network.

  • 421 4.4.5 Too many messages from this host last hour

    Hi, we are in a migration process from a Kerio system to Exchange 2013.
    Everything is working fine, except that we have been experiencing this error on the logs and the Exchange 2013 users are getting returned emails.
    The remote server is 10.10.10.85
    Remote Server at 10.10.10.85 (10.10.10.85) returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
    19/12/13 7:21:57 p. m. - Remote Server at 10.10.10.85 (10.10.10.85) returned '451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "421 4.4.5 Too many messages from this host last hour." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed.
    Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 10.10.10.85:25'
    My question is, is Exchange rejecting the messages or is the other system telling Exchange to slow things a bit?

    To update this.
    We found out that the other email system was configured NOT to accept more than 100 messages per hour from same sending IP.
    Once we removed the configuration value from the other email system, all started working.

    anyone know what this is? too many recipients this hour?

    To follow up on Poesjkin's message, that error text is exactly what an IronPort ESA will give when it applies rate limiting. If the receiving MTA is indeed an IronPort ESA, then that drastically narrows the likely reasons for the rate limiting. The most likely reason is that your sending ESA has an IP address with a poor SenderBase reputation, or has no reputation at all. Another good possibility is that that IP address fails the address->name->address double-lookup DNS verification. Try investigating those and see what you come up with.

    Hi,
    I often get this message in my logs;

    Does anyone have any idea what this means? This same router has, on average, one disconnect from our GRE tunnel each day and I can't connect to it externally until the cable modem is rebooted. The log above is the only thing I've got to go on really. Everything else looks normal.

  • Error "421 #4.4.5 Too many connections from your host"

    We have deployed a Java application using JavaMail which enables people to send email to their contact lists. It has been in use for a few years, various updates being applied over that time. Most of our customers have no problem. But a couple of weeks ago, two of them suddenly could no longer send emails.
    The connection to the SMTP server works but when the application sends email, it gets an error 421. A debugging dump is reproduced below: the target email address is changed to protect the uninvolved; messages starting with **** come from my program, other come from JavaMail.
    Can anyone solve this problem? suggest where to look? Thanks.

    Looks like the server keeps track of the number of connections from each machine, and when the number of connections in a certain period exceeds some number, that machine is deemed to be a potential spammer. At any rate it is something you should discuss with the manager of that server.

  • Can too many apps do this??

    I have a custom firmware delight v1.5 anna by niconi_ash. when i first installed this firmware I had 245mb free in C drive. After installing 90 apps (ALL on E drive) and using v1.5 for about 6 months, i realized that my C drive has dropped to approximately 108mb free at startup. so my questions are:
    1) is this normal to lose this many MB from the C drive even though I install all my apps to the E drive?
    2) is there any way to clear up the C drive back to how it was (WITHOUT a hard reset) by maybe re-installing the custom firmware??
    3) if i re-install the CFW v1.5, i should not have to re-install all my apps correct? but in doing so, will the C drive return to 245mb?

    Though deleting the 'Cache' content should be fine...It will be dangerous to delete other files provided you are certain that these are junk files. If you have un-installed some applications but see any trace of that in the 'C' memory, you may delete them. e.g. I had uninstalled the 'Sports Tracker' application from my phone but a Folder with that name was still present on 'C', and I had to delete that manually.

  • HT204053 My iPhone 4 will not allow me to sign into iCloud it says there are too many accounts on this device how can I resolve it and sign in?

    Please help me sign into icloud

    If the message says that the maximum number of free iCloud accounts has already been created, you won't be able to create a new iCloud account on that phone.  You can sign into an existing iCloud account, but not create a new one.  Your only options are to either re-use one of the accounts previously created or create a new account to use on a different iOS device (running iOS 5 or higher) or Mac (running OS X Lion or higher), if you have one.

  • Too many connections - even after closing ResultSets and PreparedStatements

    I'm getting a "Too many connections" error with MySQL when I run my Java program.

            at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.doHandshake(MysqlIO.java:1182)
            at com.mysql.jdbc.Connection.createNewIO(Connection.java:2670)I researched on this and found out that I wasn't closing the ResultSet and the PreparedStatement.
    The JDBC connection is closed by a central program that handles connections (custom connection pooling).
    I added the code to close all ResultSets and PreparedStatements, and re-started MySQL as per the instructions here
    but still get "Too many connections" error.
    A few other things come to mind, as to what I may be doing wrong, so I have a few questions:
    1) A few PreparedStatements are created in one method, and they are used in a 2nd method and closed in the 2nd method
    does this cause "Too many connections" error?
    2) I have 2 different ResultSets, in nested while loops where the outer loop iterates over the first ResultSet and
    the inner loop iterates over the second ResultSet.
    I have a try-finally block that wraps the inner while loop, and I'm closing the second ResultSet and PreparedStement
    in the inner while loop.
    I also have a try-finally block that wraps the outer while loop, and I'm closing the first ResulSet and PreparedStatement
    in the outer while loop as soon as the inner while loop completes.
    So, in the above case the outer while loop's ResultSet and PreparedStatements remain open until the inner while loop completes.
    Does the above cause "Too many connections" error?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The following is relevant sections of my code ( it is partially pseudo-code ) that shows the above 2 cases:
    init( Connection jdbcConnection ){
       String firstSQLStatement = "....";
       PreparedStatement ps1 = jdbcConnection.prepareStatement( firstSQLStatement );
       String secondSQLStatement = "....";
       PreparedStatement ps2 = jdbcConnection.prepareStatement( secondSQLStatement );
       String thirdSQLStatement = "....";
       PreparedStatement ps3 = null;
       ResultSet rsA = null;
       try{
            ps3 = jdbcConnection.prepareStatement( thirdSQLStatement );
            rsA = ps3.executeQuery();
            if( rsA.next() ){
                   rsA.getString( 1 );
       }finally{
            if( rsA != null )
                   rsA.close();
            if( ps3 != null )
              ps3.close();
       //Notice, how ps1 and ps2 are created here but not used immediately, but only ps3 is
       //used immediately.
       //ps1 and ps2 are used in another method.
    run( Connection jdbcConnection ){
         ResultSet rs1 = ps1.executeQuery();
            try{
               while(rs1.next()){
                    String s = rs1.getString();
                    ps2.setString(1, s);
              ResultSet rs2 = ps2.executeQuery();
                    try{
                   while(rs2.next()){
                        String s2 = rs2.getString();
                    }finally{
                   if( rs2 != null )
                     rs2.close();
                   if( ps2 != null )
                     ps2.close();
         }catch( Exception e ){
              e.printStackTrace();
         }finally{
            if( rs1 != null )
                  rs1.close();
               if( ps1 != null )
                  ps1.close();
    //Notice in the above case rs1 and ps1 are closed only after the inner
    //while loop completes.
    }I appreciate any help.
    Thanks for your reply.
    I will look at the central connection pooling mechanism ( which was written by someone else) , but that is being used by many other Java programs others have written.
    They are not getting this error.
    An addendum to my previous note, I followed the instructions here.
    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/too-many-connections.html
    There's probably something else in my code that is not closing the connection.
    But I just wanted to rule out the fact that opening a PreparedStatement in one method and closing it in another is not a problem.
    Or, if nested ResultSet loops don't cause the problem.
    I've read in a few threads taht "Too many connections" can occur for unclosed RS and PS , and not just JDBC connections.
  • Too many sessions
    Dear All,
    I am using Oracle 9i ver.2. on Windows Advance server 2003. I have observed that for a single user too many sessions are active, whereas he is running a single application. I even tried to test that when all the users are gone, even then the sessions are active resulting in low performance. I have set all the parameters in the user_profile accordingly but the problem is still there. Sometimes, I have to manual kill all those sessions.
    Can anyone guide me out.
    Best regards,
    Khurram wazir.
    A session is only going to be marked as ACTIVE in v$session and will only consume resources when it is actually executing a query. If multiple sessions are being created and multiple sessions are active, that may imply that the application(s) you are using are opening and using multiple connections, possibly issuing queries in different threads. It may also mean that you have an application that is not closing connections and/or terminating queries appropriately. You would need to debug the application if this is the case to identify the source of the bug.
    Your ISP may be redirecting your browser.
    Use Open DNS. It's free and includes anti phishing filters.
    Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    if using recipient limits, is it possible to customize or at least reduce the following NDR. If we have the limit set to say50 and someone tries to send to 100, each individual address will be listed, i.e.:
    [email protected]
    #550 5.5.3 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipLimit; too many recipients ##
    Can this be suppressed or reduced to only say This message wasn't delivered to anyone because there are too many recipients. The limit is 50. This message has 100 recipients.
    Hi,
    I have a test in my environment using Exchange 2010. You can use the following cmdlet to change the text to "This message wasn't delivered to anyone because there are too many recipients. The limit is 50. This message has 100 recipients."
    New-SystemMessage -DsnCode 5.5.3 -Language en -Internal $true -Text "This message wasn't delivered to anyone because there are too many recipients. The limit is 50. This message has 100 recipients."
    Here is the result for your reference.
    Based on my knowledge, I'm afraid that the following information can't be changed.
    Hope it helps.
  • Can't connect to Server - "too many users" after 10.8 install
    After upgrading my Retina MBP, my Air, and my mid-2011 iMac (which acts as a file server) to Mountain Lion, I find I cannot consistently connect to the iMac server. Everything is done over an Airport Extreme wifi network, and there were no issues in 10.7. It usually happens 24-48 hours after a retstart, and a restart will fix it though that is inconvenient. The error given on the machine trying to connect in is "too many users" on the host (the iMac server). Any thoughts?
    Me too... similar setup. MBPr, MBP and an old MB with a Mini/drobo as a file server. A reboot fixes it, but that's a pain if I'm not home.
    I have noticed that I can usually share the screen even if I can't mount a drive, which helps, but still just another hurtle.
