IPM 4.2 database for future analysis (LMS 3.2)
Hello,
How long can one keep IPM database for future analysis if one wants to keep statstical data for more than a year.
Is this possible? There is a chance to schedule for more that a year at the collector page. But it is may be to indicate the run-time but not the actuall collection of statistical data at the IPM database (NMSROOT/files/IPM/export/collectors?
You can configure the purge intervals for Minute, Hourly, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly data under IPM > Admin > Purge Settings. By default, the monthly data is kept for an entire year. You can increase this provided you have the disk space to hold it.

Hi All,
My client wants to use reporting tools for bussiness analysis. For this I want to use a separate database which will be replica of production database. Is there any way to achieve this in R12 database(10.2.0.2)?
Kindly share your experience.
Regards
LatifAs Srini states, knowing more about your requirements would help us to help you. :-)
Do you need a daily twice/daily snapshot of your data? If so, then you might be able to implement the solution that Srini mentioned earlier. An added benefit of this method is that it can go beyond the creation of a reporting database: it can also be leveraged in the creation of additional clones for test and dev environments.
Do you need real-time replication of data to your reporting database? If so, then you might want to investigate Oracle Streams/Goldengate (disclaimer: I'm typing on the fly, so I'm not 100% certain that this is supported).
If you're willing to license more Oracle software to solve your problem, you might also consider Oracle Business Intelligence Applications, which has out-of-the-box integration with E-Business Suite for common reporting/business intelligence needs. There are additional costs involved, but you can weigh those against the development costs of "rolling your own" MVs and reports, and maintaining them.
Again, knowing your requirements, constraints, and points of flexibility will go a long way toward figuring out which option best suits you. :)

How to add multiple databases for a single frontend
We have a project based on distributed databases and we have to workout on .Net framework.I want to know some information of connecting multiple databases for a single frontend and how can we access them.
If so we have connected 2 databases for a single frontend in future if I want add one more database to it how it will be possible to do it without disturbing the current connectivity.
Please help me in resolving this problem.
Thanks......hi,
what do you mean by connecting 2 databases? can you explain further?
using entityframework you can connect to different databases
public class CustomerContext : DbContext
public ReportContext()
: base("DefaultConnection")
public DbSet<Customers> Customers { get; set; }
and your connectionstring (config file)
<connectionStrings>
<add name="DefaultConnection" connectionString="Data Source=(LocalDB)\v11.0;AttachDbFilename=D:\\Database\Project.mdf;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
you can add more connection strings on it.

Calculationg current and past year for a Analysis report in obiee 11.5
Dear All,
Need some help here.
I am a beginner in OBIEE and need some help to build a report in obiee 11.5 as described below;
I need to create a PnL report such that I show current years profit and loss AND prior year profit and loss figures in a report side by side for comparitive analysis for user.
My data is an essbase database, and have a years dimension with values 'current year' , 'F08', and 'Prior Year'. and other measurs such as revenue, % revenue, gross profit, cost of sales, operating expenses etc. (I am using 107 from oracle downloads) for obiee 11.5
There is another dimesion called time period with members as Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4, and each having respective months (e.g. Jan, Feb, Mar for Q1 etc)
I also have a scenario dimension with members as Actual, plan, Forecast, Wht -if..
Now I need to create a this report.
I created this report based on approch no 1 below;
Appraoch 1
- Create two analysis reports with all the above columns.
- specify filter for year column equal to current year for first report
- specify filter for year column equal to prior year for second report
- create a dashboard with a promt (radio button) based on column scenario
- create two sections placed side by side below the promt and place above two reports in those two sections so that they appear side by side
Nw when I run this dashboard, it works fine, and shows me the current and prior data for actual, plan etc...
BUT....
I need to create the same reports using a single analysis report instead of two separate reports with hardcoded values for year filter.
Now I tried use AGO funtions on but , it requires a column with numerical value so that it can calculate the past year, but in my case year is a column hving text value and hence i cant use it.
I would like to know how to build such a report using any other variable or function or any rpd level modifitions.
If I had a year dimesion with numeric values, then how would I use to calculate the past year once u select current year .?
Let say values are 2012, 2011, 2010 etc. so If I select 2012 as current year, I should get data for 2012, and 2011, if I select 2011, then I should get data for 2011 ,and 2010.
Please help me to build logic either at analysis level or at repository level
Thanks and Regards
SantoshHi,
As per I understand your requirement,
In Pivot table, place 'Year' in pivot columns instead of rows.
Create an SQL filter on Year and put the condition as:
*"Year" BETWEEN @{Presentation_Variable} - 1 AND @{Presentation_Variable}*
You will get the result for selected year and the previous year.
Hope it helps..

ISSUE Sharepoint 2013 databases for reporting services on the second server SQL 2012
Hello,
I have server A: Operating system windows 2012 standard, SQL server 2012 standard
instance: Sharepoint contains data for sharepint
instance: Reporting should be contain databases for reporting
Server B:
Windows server 2012 standard contains installation Sharepoint 2013
Sharepoint works (without reporting services), it is OK - databases are located on server A:
My issue is:
When I have installed reporting services on server B, I have already installed SQL server 2012 on server B, it works.
I am able to create report in report builder adn place it in to sharepoint.
But I would like to use only one full SQL machine on server A:
When I reconfigure repoting settings on server A in central administration - manage service aplications,
On the SQL server A in instance reporting , there is automatically created databases. It is no problem.
But the first difference is, when I want to manage service aplication for reporting in
Provision Subscriptions and Alerts, there is information
SQL Server Agent state cannot be determined
When I want to create report in report builder, I have issue:
server A-7380mw016\reporting it means server A with full SQL server:
The Test of connection was successful
Then I have clicked test connection
I have recieved this screen with fail: Logon faild for user NT Authority\anonymous logon
My account belongs to SQL admin on server A (A-7380mw016\reporting) I do not know it is not possible to create report, when it is possible to test connection in the first step and in the second step, there is problem...
Please, can somebody help me?Hi,
Since you are getting an Anonymous Logon error, it appears there may be a problem passing your credentials to the SQL Server Agent Service. This would indicate a Kerberos issue. See this thread for details:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/46b7c773-6a77-435d-b471-cb9a6ec41c43/has-anyone-else-upgraded-reporting-services-to-denali-2012

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/video/Video/hh858469
Tips from the video:
We are connecting to Reporting services using Kerberos when using Reporting Services in SharePoint integrated mode
For the account using reporting services, we just need a dummy SPN. We go to Attribute editor tab in AD for RS account. And then we will be enabled with Delegation tab.
In Delegation tab. I we are using claims to windows token, we need to use "Trust this user for delegation to specified services only"
There you have 2 options: "Use Kerberos only": It means I only want to delegate in the situation where the service that is doing the delegation actually has the Kerberos ticket to start with
"Use any authentication protocol" When we need protocol transition (like from NTLM to claims for intra farm communication)
We need to delegate this to SQL server.
Please check out these articles as well:

GL assignment for future date?
Hi everybody,
We have an issue is as follows:
- We have created a sales order for 08-09-2008
- We have created PO for 08-09-2008, here system will able to post everything fine.
- Again we are creating one more PO for 08-09-2009, here system threws error message like GL a/c needs cost assignment.
My question is why system is asking assignment for future date only and why system is not asking assignment for current date?
Looking forward your best thoughts
regards
vkHi Raj,
Thanks for your reply
Yes, we have assigned only cost element in TC: OKB9. But, for that cost element we have created 2 analysis periods.
- GL 100115 01.01.2008 to 31.12.2008
- GL 100115 01.01.2009 to 31.12.9999
I think validity period is perfect still system threws error message like gl acc needs cost object assign.

Hello All,
I am trying to see the detailed sql for an analysis to see which tables my analysis is hitting back in the database. Currently all i see is the subject area name with bunch of s_0, S_1,S_2.... but i want to see the actual table names which the Analysis is pulling the data from, I am new to OBIEE. Any help or advise with the steps in order to accomplish my goal is greatly appreciated.

Edited by: user1146711 on Aug 23, 2011 3:30 PMHi ravi,
You can check in the presentation services by going to Administration/manage session/view log for the specific report that you are running.
You can even check the SQL in log file NqQuery.log in your installation folder C:OracleBI\server\log\NqQuery.log
Check this Courtesy by gerard http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/manage_session_log
hope answered.

Best practices: Programming for future deployment
Hi All.. I'm starting this thread to see if I can find a consensus about the best practices for programming for future deployment of Flex apps.
Using Flex Builder, in creating a simple portal app I use "Import Web Service (WSDL)" to make the ActionScript framework for webservices which I consume. I have coded those web services in .asmx (c# web services for .NET) and run them locally. The framework Flex Builder creates is just fine, and I can run my app locally with no problem. Where I run into an issue is deployment.
My intention is to distribute the database, the .NET webservices, and the Flex app as a complete solution to my end customers.
What are the best practices in programming for complete deployability?
The main issues I'm facing:
1. Using inbuilt features like "Import Web Service (WSDL)" creates a framework around a named webservice. Upon deployment the URL for these services will change. How can you make it easy to switch the site webservices are consumed from? Can Flex apps be set up to use an environment variable, or even read a local file for the URL of the webservice I want it to point at? (i.e. something in web.config or elsewhere?)
2. Should I NOT use "Import Web Service" at all, and write the code by hand? Note: this is VERY time consuming for the number of services that are exposed in larger apps. My typical dev cycle consists of parallel updates/upgrades to web services as they are demanded by elements incorporated in the Flex app.. so it's very convenient to just re-import the WSDL as I make changes.
Thanks so much for your input!

Best regardsJust like an OLTP database, the schema design and its data is 100% dependant on the business needs and (if done properly) the result of a thorough data analysis. Any kind of a pre-designed sample would be near worthless to any actual application. -
Choosing a database for a chemical engg. application
I am chemical engineering student attempting to use databases to analyse chemical reactor performance. We want to set up a database that stores the information from a chemical reactor simulator that mimics the original reactor and use it for extensive analysis by setting up queries that are of interest to a chemical and design engineer. I have experience in SQL programming, JDBC and Java programming which I want to put to use in this project, but not much knowledge in the minutes of choosing and installing a database package. Can any one please suggest me which Oracle application will be best suited for this project and how do I acquire it?
Hi,
Oracle provides quite a few tools which
can be used to feed the data into database and also to retrieve it.
Your requirement can be met with
sql*plus to get the reports and sql*loader
to load the data into database.
PL/SQL - which has procedural capabilities and can take sql statements should be useful.
If you are looking at huge amount of data to
be loaded, simple way is to use sql*loader. If the data you want to load is present as operating system file, you can directly load into database using sql*loader by just mentioning which format the file is.
sql*plus and pl/sql are part of database installation and sql*loader comes as part of database utilitites.
Java/JDBC can be used if you want to enter
data manually using front end made of applets or if the data input is from
a device like some spectroscope which has to
be read using sockets.
Better representation of the data - like graphs, charts etc. can be created using JDBC/applets.
Oralce 8i has built in JVM and client side
JDBC drivers are also provided.
Depending upon the scource of data to be loaded into database and reports to be generated, you can choose the tools.

thank you for the answer!
next year we plan to migrate our databases from 10g to 11g R2.
the reason for R2 is that the second realease is a more stable version.
best wishes,

I'm doing a project for my Professional Writing course and I
have to use RoboHelp to create an online help document. The
professor provided templates for us to use but when I go to open
the project file I get the following error: "open project was
cancelled or the application was unable to load database
for....(then the directory)"
I know the project file isn't corrupted because the members
of my class are using the same one without issue. I tried
re-downloading the file, I also re-installed the program itself,
still with no luck. I'm using a Trial Version of RoboHelp 6.0 .
The only other suggestions I have seen are that I don't have
edit perms for the system, but it's my personal laptop and I have
full admin privs. I thought at first that the folder was read-only,
but when I opened it up all it displays is the little green box in
the checkbox (which doesn't mean the folder is read-only, it's just
some stupid windows default, it's only read-only if the box is
actually checked). I tried making the entire directory read-only
and then turn it off but still get the same error.
Any suggestions? There's a topic on my site about Opening Projects that
includes the method of deleting the CPD and XPJ files but I didn't
cover that as the project is good for everyone else. Anything is
worth a try at the moment though.
Another thing to try is to rename the course folder, then
create a new folder with the same name plus all sub folders. Then
move the files across. That will ensure the folder properties are
good and not read only. Yes I know what you said but again anything
is worth a try.
Also, in the last post you are saying the directory is not
read-only. I assume the files are all good?
Ref my previous post, is it the case that now you are getting
an error before the original error would have popped up? -
Open project was cancelled or application was unable to load database for pathname
My pc is installed with Robohelp 3x. Recently I shifted the
pc from one room to anther. Now when I attempt to open my existing
workable solution, it give me the following message: "Open project
was canceled or application was unable to load database for
<pathname>". Do I need to call for Robohelp technical
support? If yes, can someone provide me the toll free number?
Can someone pls advise? Thanks Peter, managed to get in through the link you've
given. I seriously doubt it has anything gotta do with a corrupted
project. I have 2 working projects last week but they can no longer
be opened this week.
I tried even to created an empty project from scratch. It was
created successfully but when I reopen the project, it shows the
same error message.
Could there have been other possibilities or ways which I can
troubleshoot?
*puzzled*
