IPM in LMS 3.1

1. I configured ICMP jitter but its not working. Is there any specific ios requirement for icmp jitter. i have given ip sla responder
2. Is path jitter same as ICMP jitter.

Hello,
perhaps your problem is related to my. With IPM (LMS 3.2) I have defined an operation of type http (IP of www.google.de). I have configured rtr thresholds to be send as SNMP traps to my network management system (HP NNMi 9.0). Setting up the collection ends up in Config Failed, but looking on the device (show rtr conf and show rtr oper) the probe is running and operations are successful. But looking at rtr reaction-configuration there are no entries. The configuration contains the "snmp-server host" and "snmp-server enable traps rtr" statements, but no SNMP trap is sent to NNMi (the output of "show snmp" shows, that the counter for SNMP traps sent is the same - even when the measurement is over threshold or the timeout value).  When I change the operation in IPM to not use thresholding the collection ends up in Running (and I can use Monitor to see the operation results online). After searching the web I found this thread here:

  • Traps from IPM in LMS 4.0

Hi, in LMS 4.0, is it possible to send traps from IPM? I remember that this was impossible from LMS 3.x.
    Thanks.

    Yes.
Create it under the "operation" section.  Monitor -> Performance Settings -> IP SLA -> operation, then apply to a collector.

  • Internetwork performance Monitor (IPM) issue of CiscoWork LMS 2.5

I’m implementing IPM 2.6 module on Ciscoworks. To analysis ICMP traffic from Source to Destination, I have made 1 IP Echo entery of source & target, where source is RouterA serial IP & Target is RouterB Serial IP. Now if Normal Ping happens from Router A to B. Traffic analysis & delay displays at IPM. Now I move one another entry where Source Router A & Destination Router C Serial IP. Now Problem begins. Due to some policies, Router A can’t make normal Ping to C but extended ping happens for same but IPM can’t capture extended ping traffic & delay. It always show Request timed out. Now I’m stuck. It’s very necessary to resolve. Waiting..

    Dan,
IPM and LMS 3.2 are EOS/EOL. But the features are still available in the latest version of LMS, aka, Cisco prime LMS 4.2.
Cisco Prime LMS 4.x onwards the module specific approach was re-structured to feature centric menu, and hence Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 has all the required + enhanced IPM features.
You can upgrade to LMS 4.2, however, we encourage everyone to move to Cisco Prime Infrastructure, which is more future proof, as Marvin recommended.
IPM feature in Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 is known as Performance Management.

  • Can I remove unwanted apps from LMS 3.2

is that possible to remove DFM and IPM from LMS 3.2 I have never used and LMS appears to be slow and i am thinking  trimming some unwanted apps may help. thanks.

9 out of 10 times I have found marginally performing LMS servers to be suffering from under-provisioned memory. That is especially true on older Windows-based servers that didn't support server 64-bit OS along with the greater addressable memory ( > 4GB) they enable.

  • What's the replacement of CiscoWorks Internetwork Performance Monitor (IPM)?

    Hi There
I am using a quite old tool - Ciscoworks IPM 2.5 with CWRW-1.3 in my teaching lab installed in 2004. IPM is good tool for network lab working with Cisco 3700 routers.  Now I am trying to find latest IPM version to upgrade the lab. I find that latest IPM is version 4.2 with Ciscoworks LAN management Solution 3.2 only. But this production is also  end-of-sale and end-of -support  see the page -http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/cloud-systems-management/ciscoworks-lan-management-solution-3-2/model.html
       - End-of-Sale Date:    08-APR-2011 Details
       - End-of-Support Date:    30-APR-2014 Details
Now I have no idea how to upgrade IPM? Which tool from Cisco or a third party can be replacement of IPM?

  • LMS 3.2.1 IPM collector

    HI,
I have LMS 3.2.1 installed in my server. When I am try to create a new collector the expected source device is not appearing in list of devices source device list. However the device is added under IPM devices and reflecting under destination devices while trying to create teh collector. The device was appearing earlier but I deleted the device from common services and re added it. The device is also managed by other module like, DFM and RME.
    Please help me.
    Regards,
    Satya

    Thanks Afroj,
I have created the collectors in IPM. I had tried with all possible setting with device credentials in common services. Finally I found if the RW credential is left blank in common service device credential, the device does not appears as a source in IPM collector configuration. In initial condition we need to add a RW string in device and mention the same in common service device credential. Latter after creation of the collector if we remove the RW string then also it will continue to collect latency information from IP SLA and display it in graph.
    Thanks for your kind support.

  • LMS 2.6 with IPM 2.6 integration ACS 4.1, problem with IPM

    Hi
Recently I integrated ACS 4.1 with LMS 2.6 follow this document:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/netmgtsw/ps6504/ps6528/ps2425/prod_white_paper0900aecd80613f62.html
The integration was a partial success, because after the integration I cannot run IPM client and Reports. Just I don't have the icon to run this features.
Some of you know why is happen, and if there is a solution?
In accord with the document above, I check the integration and was everything how this doc says. But IPM give me this problem.
    Thank you really much.
    Best Regards Antonello.

    Thank you a lot Joe.
I wrongly thought that System Administrator has totally access.
Thank you really much, I rate you post.

  • LMS- IPM Web Client

    Hi
On LMS 3.1 and 3.2, is there cisco IPM Web Client, or was it discontinued on LMS 3.2?
If there is, how do i get to install it- i.e. where do i donwload it?
    Thanks a lot

The IPM web client is no longer required in LMS 3.0 and higher.  The reason for this is that IPM no longer requires client-sided Java.  IPM is now a full part of the rest of LMS, and only requires the client to support HTML, JavaScript, and Flash.

  • Facing problems in LMS 3.0.1 ( IPM not making graphs / visuals )

Yes. I think i am doing some mistake.
    1. i have two switches. both are 6509.
    2. i have configured snmp properly and can see them in rme and can do ssh also to them from cisco works
    3. in ipm i try to pull reports i says "no data to poll "
    4. i have tried configuring collector from source ip of loopback switch A and destination ip of loopback switch B.  but when i try to take reports not coming,
    5. Is there any document to refer to exact steps to generate reports,  i think i am missing some step.
ALSO what configuration shall i do ( on switches to make this IPM generate graphs ).
i tried doing some configs on both switches as below (same on both) :
    ip sla monitor 1
    frequency 60
ip sla monitor schedule forever start now
and above snippet is same on both the boxes ????? what mistake have i done ? how to fix it and how to see the beautiful LATENCY graphs in IPM ????

    Thanks for the reply clarke...

  • IPM 4.2 database for future analysis (LMS 3.2)

    Hello,
How long can one keep IPM database for future analysis if one wants to keep statstical data for more than a year.
Is this possible? There is a chance to schedule for more that a year at the collector page. But it is may be to indicate the run-time but not the actuall collection of statistical data at the IPM database (NMSROOT/files/IPM/export/collectors?

You can configure the purge intervals for Minute, Hourly, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly data under IPM > Admin > Purge Settings.  By default, the monthly data is kept for an entire year.  You can increase this provided you have the disk space to hold it.

  • Problem restoring LMS 2.6 data to LMS 4.0

    Hello,
I'm trying to migrate from LMS 2.6 on a Windows 2003 server to LMS 4.0 on Windows 2008 R2.
Two things I'll note here which might help future people attempting to use the LMS 4.0 backup/restore scripts as detailed in the migration document:
    1) Make sure nobody has installed cygwin on the server before you run the backup scripts. If they have, remove it and the reg keys.
    2) On the target server make sure to run the restore script CMD session using runas or disable UAC on Windows 2008 or the restore scripts will fail
My next problem I can't get past. I've been running the restore since yesterday morning and it still hasn't finished. It hasn't moved from 40% complete migrating the IPM data but in the last 24 hours it has eaten up 6Gb more RAM.

Should I just wait? Is this something that might take days if I've got a lot of IPM data or is it broken? I don't really care about keeping IPM data so could I do something to complete the data migration for everything else? Any advice appreciated.
    regards,
    Aaron

The restore can take a long time if you have a lot of data.  The problem is the database needs to be completely unloaded and reloaded to convert from ASA 9 to ASA 10.  However, if you do not care about IPM data, and you still have LMS 2.6 running, you can take a new LMS backup not using the wrapper.pl script (this will keep IPM from being backed up).

  • Splitting and migrating LMS

Due to growth of the network, I need to split a single LMS 3.2 server into two seperate machines (master-slave).
I've prepared two new (virtualized) window servers. installed a clean LMS 3.2 server1 (RME, CM) server 2 (DFM, IPM and HUM)
I've restored the previous backup on the new server1 (it says that application doesn't match but I continued restore CS, RME, CM)
I've restored the previous backup on the new server2 (same message, but I continued restore DFM, IPM and HUM)
Everything seems to work fine, except:
(my next step is to setup the master-slave, currently two  standalone-servers)
    server1:
compliancy management ->  when I try to open a template, the following error occurs:

    server2:
It won't let me to run the changehostname.pl perl script, old-hostname doesn't match the old-hostname
These are the only issues that I've seen for now... my question. Is this a supported procedure, if not, what's the best practice for splitting a server into multiple server i.e. a master/slave(s) setup.
thanks in advance for any help.

    Problem  with File   /WEB-INF/screens/config/dcma/BaseLine/BaseLineViewer.jsp!!!nul
In the meantime I discovered that for the baseline templates that I have restored, the "Device Type" is missing.
When I add a new one, it works fine. So I can reproduce this error.
Question, how can I restore the "Device Types" in the baseline templates, for some reason this information is lost and causes this error
(I can't edit them via the GUI, so the solution should be editing some file(s) on the file system)

  • Is SNMP RO and telnet good enough for IPM?

    Dear friends,
I have only SNMP RO access to the router and telnet access as well from Ciscoworks LMS.
But i dont have SNMP RW access.
Is it possible that i configure ip sla monitor manually on the routers / switches and just use IPM to poll these routers and collect the SLA statistics?
    Thanks a lot
    Gautam

IPM requires read-write access.  However, you could try configuring the collectors on the devices manually, then import those collectors into IPM using the "ipm importcollector" cli command.  I haven't tested doing this without having SNMP RW configured, but it should work.  IPM will just not be able to fully manage the collectors, but it should be able to poll them.
